Better no fan graphics card for upgrade

Q: Better no fan graphics card for upgrade

Hi,

I assembled my PC in mid 2010 and it's still runs OK for my purposes except that I feel that Firefox and other programs that I use feel somehow sluggish and I attribute this to the naive graphics card I'm using (AMD RADEON HD 5450) even with the latest Catalyst drivers. I picked this up on purpose because it has no fan (I'm not a gamer anyway).
Now that it's 2014, I'm asking a recommendation for a more powerful graphics card that uses no fan at all in order to enjoy more powerful graphics in Firefox, youtube, flash, photoshop,...etc without adding any extra noise.

Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Better no fan graphics card for upgrade

I sort of doubt that it is your sluggish problem especially with Firefox. That could be due to your internet connection.

What size hard drive and is it close to being full? Do you defrag it periodically?

With that said, check out the Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GT730 4GB.

Hi everyone....

Current PC specs listed above ..... to get it out of the way I am a gamer......

This upgrade is to allow me to play some of the newer games such as The Witcher and also to enable me to utilize DX10 when I eventually upgrade to Vista.

RAM.....this is what I have found...I do not overclock and I am very happy with the matched pair of Corasir XMS 512MB 5400C4 running at 533 that I currently have so I figured the safe bet is in just jumping to a matched pair of 1MB sticks of the same.....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145015

Graphics card.....

I do have a budget and from the reviews I have read this card should carry me through the gaming world for at least the next year (hopefully 2) I like eVGA and I have nothing but good things to say about the eVGA 6800GS that I am currently using.

But if anyone has some input as to problems with the card listed below or if you know of another card that will perform just as well (or better) for around the same price I would like to hear about it.

Hi,
My system came with a R9 270 which I want to replace with a Sapphire Dual X R9 R280x.
That card needs a 6pin and an 8pin connection and the manufacturer's site say a 500W PSU is advised.
So, I'm concerned that I get a new PSU that fits my case, has the right connectors for all the 8700 components, and is say north of 600W.
Could anyone point me in the right direction.
My system info is......
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

+note: I also bought two sticks of HyperX 16GB RAM and a Corsair H75 Hydro Series CPU Cooler.

A:Upgrade graphics card=upgrade powersupply?

Your 500 watt PSU meets the minimum requirement.... GeForce GTX 970 | Specifications | GeForce

So with that in mind....I'd say yes to a new PSU.

Now I'm hoping to upgrade to a GTX 960, but I do think I have a power supply good enough (no upgrades to supply, recommened on nvidia website = 400W. Please correct if wrong.) But I dont know if it fits or if the power supply has enough "pins". (Yet again another term I don't understand.)
So once again if anybody can help with my delema I'd greatly apperciate it.

Is it to play any specific game? Have you at any time upgraded your power supply? A higher end graphics card will require a power supply better then the stock HP one.

Also for any of the high end cards you will be limited by your processor.

I am really new to computers, so I followed a friend's advice and purchased this computer (Slim Desktop 410-030) for gaming. However, I came to find out later that the computer wasn't really all that well equipped for gaming straight from the factory. So, I've been looking at ways that I can possibly upgrade this computer to better suit my needs since I JUST bought this thing a few months ago. I need to get an actual dedicated graphics card, I know at least that, but according to a techie that I went to about upgrading the computer, there isn't actually enough space in this computer to get an updated graphics card. So to remedy that, apparently I have to get a whole new case for the computer. And ON TOP of all of that, apparently there's not even enough power in this computer to handle a new graphics card. I feel so hopelessly lost and helpless. What on Earth am I supposed to do to get some form of satisfactory gaming power out of this thing? Any recommendations on good graphics cards and upgrades that won't completely bankrupt me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Linnea

@SpitFire1 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Sorry, but unlike desktops, which use cards, laptops have chips that are soldered directly to the motherboard or system board, or come in the form of "modules".Only a very limited subset of HP laptops actually allow the replacement of processor, audio, video or WiFi "modules" and, as far as I can tell, yours is not one of these models. This means there is really no way to upgrade the video, WiFi, or processor on your laptop. You're stuck with what came with the PC.

A:Looking to upgrade graphics card and RAM

In order to upgrade your ram you need to know how many slots are available and what's populating those slots. Run CPU-Z to get that info. If you have 4 slots and you're only using two, just get two more sticks that match what you currently have installed. If you have two slots, you need to remove what you have and just replace with the same type of RAM but 2 x 2GB set.

As far as the video card, it would help to know the specs of the power supply. If you have one of the slim chassis then you need a low profile card which limits your choices.

What's your price range for the video card?

Thanks.

A:Upgrade Graphics Card

htank, welcome to the forums.

Will that card work with Windows 7? Yes it will. Is it worth buying just for Windows 7? Others may say yes, but personally I would say no. Reason for that is you are liable to run into all kinds of problems getting it to work due to being an AGP card, if you haven't yet do a search of this forum and you will find there have been all kinds of problems getting AGP cards to work in Windows 7 (there is a 27 page thread stickied at the top of this forum). Most of the problems stem from AGP not being fully supported and the lack of a proper AGP driver (not to be confused with the driver for the video card), that allows the video card driver to work properly.

Also depending on your current power supply, you may also need to upgrade it for that card as the card requires an external connection to the power supply.

Another thing is that sad to say, but the card you linked to costs about what your whole computer is worth. Also if you do get that card and then decide down the road to get a new computer, you won't be able to move the card to the new computer as there are no computers being sold with AGP slots anymore.

Normally I am all for upgrading as necessary, but in cases like yours I usually recommend on holding off on Windows 7 until such a time as you get a new computer that is more in line with running it without needlessly spending money to get there.

I have a Dell XPS 8700, and I'm currently looking to upgrade the graphics card and power supply. I've been having issues with games freezing and I want a better graphics card anyway because the 750 Ti just isn't doing it for me. I know I want to get a GeForce GTX 1060, but I am unsure of which power supply I should get. I don't trust the default Dell PSU. My case is ATX so I'd like to get a smaller PSU if possible so there's no issues with space. I'm unsure of which brand I should get and what wattage/voltages I would need. I'd at least like an 80 Plus Gold rating. Also, which 1060 brand should I get? Should I go with a blower-style card to reduce some heat in the case, or just stick with the regular?

Specs:

Please let me know if you need more information, and thanks to everyone who takes the time to help me with this!

A:What PSU and graphics card should I get for my upgrade?

The GeForce GTX 1060 is a much better graphic card than the GeForce GTX 750 Ti, but it also uses 60W more power and it requires a minimum of a 400W power supply.

The Dell XPS 8700 appears to come with a 450W power supply, so I can understand your concern about sticking with it because of the power demands of hard-core gaming.

There are a number of hardware/gaming experts here who can give you recommendations on a replacement power supply, so be patient until one replies.

A:Best Graphics Card, I can upgrade to.

The best card you can get is the one you can afford. Just go to a higher series AMD card. Something in the 7000 series.

You can only put 1 video card on that board, it only has 1 PCI-Express slot

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c01925486

And you could always max out the memory to 16 GBs (but 8 GBs is fine)

But you might want to spend the money on a really good 550 to 650 watt Power Supply

I am a noob at upgrading and installing parts in computers. I bought a gaming computer from amazon and it has been running quite well so far, but I intend on upgrading the graphics card. Maybe paying some-one to do it for me, as I have no knowledge what so ever on how to install/remove a graphics card.
Current PC Specs that I know of:
Processor: AMD Quad Core 4130.
Graphics Card: ATI HD 5450.
Power Supply: According to the Seller. 110v, 500 watts.
As you can see I do not know much about my computer. But here is a link to the product that I bought from Amazon: http://amzn.to/1kaSsXv
------------------
I play games like: COD: Ghosts, COD 4: Modern Warfare, GTA V [When and IF it comes out on PC], Garrys Mod, WoW, Portal 2 and other high end graphics games. - Overall, I need a recommendation on what graphics card to buy, and would it both run and fit in my computer. [I live in the UK and my budget is aprox. 150]. Sorry if I have either posted this in the wrong thread, or if I am not giving enough information. Please inform me if you require more info.

EDIT!: I found some information about my computer from the amazon link, here is some Product Details:
Processor Brand: AMD
Processor Type: AMD BULLDOZER [4130 Quad Core]
Processor Speed: 3.9 GHz
Processor Socket: SocketAM3
Processor Count: 4 Memory
RAM Size: 8000 MB
Computer Memory Type: DDR3 SDRAM Hard Drive
Hard Drive Size: 1000 GB
Hard Drive Interface: Serial ATA
Additional Drives: DVD+-RW Graphics

With that budget and 500 watts, you should not be too limited in your purchases. One thing you need to check is if your Power Supply has a set of 6 pin connectors or 8 pin connectors because sometimes on the pre-bought machines they do not have too many.

Here is what I would recommend if you have at least 2 6 Pins available:

Highest
R9 280 175
or
R9 270X 140

Those would both be excellent cards with the 280 being the best and the 270X being right below it in terms of performance. Both would be a huge step up from an HD 5450.

I'm currently using the following card:

EVGA 01G-P3-1158-TR GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI.

Last week I changed from Win 7 home Premium 32 bit to the 64 bit. I built this computer last fall, and the the rest of my specs are I5 Quad core 760, 2.80G; 8gb Corsair DDR3 1600, 600W PS.

I use this computer mostly for Flight Sims, and it seems to me my best upgrade would be the GPU. I've always had good luck with EVGA, Nvidea cards, and would like to get one that will outperform the old 250 I'm using and will also run on the 600W PS. I guess I could replace the PS if I really had to, but not looking forward to the work involved, lol.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any suggestions that will improve my system. Thanks.

I'm a graphic artist using my fiance's computer HP All In One 20-d034. My question is I'm a member of Adobe CC and run the latest versions of Photoshop & Illustrator mainly. I'm unable to use the 3D functions of these programs due to OpenGL issues. Can I upgrade the graphics card? The drivers installed are the best that I can get for the factory installed card.

Hi,
Basically I'm looking to upgrade my PC's graphics card, and I'm totally new to it all.
I am however aware of the fact that for some strange reason, the novatech "gaming" PC I bought, the iFlame Pro, comes with an intergrated graphics card, the Intel HD Family. This is the PC

I have the dell Inspiron 580s and i have the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator as built in video card.

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card and wanted to know what my options were

A:Graphics Card Upgrade

After some reserch on the dell website I found out that you pc is a small form factor, but it does have 1 PCI-E X16 connector, the only thing that you would be limited by would be the form factor and the power supply.
Edit:
just to make sure this is the computer:http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-580s/pd ?

Hi all, My daughter got a H30-05 desktop pc for christmas and it's quite nice for her 1st pc. However I'm wanting to beef up the graphics a bit and an thinking about buying possibly a GeForce GTX 950 or a 960.I'm wondering if these mini gfx cards will work in this pc? Also i think i will need to buy a seperate psu as the system wont be powerful enough for one of these cards.   Anyone successfully upgraded one?

I've had many people ask me this. It will work fine, but you will need a more powerful power supply, and also the adapters for them

hi,
Can anyone help me with directx11 supported  video cards that will be compatible with dell precision m6500 pls, thanks.

A:help with graphics card upgrade

The Fermi-core Quadro 4000m and 5000m are DX11 and supported in this model.  Depends on whether you want to spend $500 or so or closer to $700.  These aren't standard video cards - they're Dell-only parts.

My relatively new desktop came with a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 graphics card, which is fine for low to mid end gaming, but I'm wondering if it's possible to get a better card to play more taxing games/clear up framerate issues. The Geek Squad at Best Buy said it isn't, but the description page for this product on the lenovo website says it's supposed to be easily upgradeable and I stumbled on an amazon review ( https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ideacentre-710-Desktop-90FB000BUS/product-reviews/B01G7296YU ) that says it can be done with a special adapter, but I'm vague on the details and the link the reviewer apparently provides doesn't show up for me. Can I get a final word on whether I can upgrade the graphics? and if so, how (I'm ok with buying additional hardware if neccessary)?
