I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I created an outlook.com e-mail account. I exported my address book from Windows live as a .csv file. I imported it from Outlook.com. Everything went OK and said successful. My problem is I can't find it. When I create an e-mail message and click on To, the only address there is mine. When I click on People from the drop down link, the address are there, but you can't do anything with them. Any thoughts?

A:Outlook.com address list

If you go to the People page on Outlook.com, and click on a contact, does it show the email address?

I also had problems getting a csv file to work from Outlook 2003 into Outlook.com.

What I found was that certain phone number fields didn't get imported into outlook.com, even though when I tried an export from outlook.com, those very same fields were there in its own export csv format. The records imported and their names were there, but useful information like phone numbers wasn't (with no error mentioning it).

I think what I did in the end was manually type a test contact into outlook.com, with email/ phone number etc. filled in, and work out how it exported from outlook.com, and moved the data around in my import csv into different columns to match.

My problems always seems so stupid after I read other questions that are being asked...but I have always heard the expression "the only stupid question...is the one that isn't asked"..So I am gonna go for it..
I want to print out a list of my address book..but no matter which one I choose...(memo, business card, or phone list) it prints out like 14 pages (using 2 or 4 spaces between the persons name..and their e/mail addy..then more spacing between the 1st name and the next name and so on and so on...all I want is a printed list of my address book as I see it with their name and addy to the side and the next one right below with their name and addy out to the side ...etc...etc...

But it will not print me a list like that. What am I doing wrong?..and can it be done...(what I am wanting to do).

I just upgraded to 2003 from 2000. In Microsoft's ongoing effort to make things easier for people (!), they keep adding "conveniences." In 2003 when you type in an address--any address, even incorrect ones--Outlook remembers it and lists is among your choices the next time you type in the same beginning letters.

Does anyone know how to edit that list to clean out typos and extraneous email addresses? I actually liked the way 2000 worked for this better than 2003.

Despite having a Win 7 laptop, I still have an XP desktop and have for many years used OE as my e-mail client. However, I use Thunderbird on the laptop, and thought about switching to it on the desktop. But T-bird has one huge flaw for me. I use a LOT of group address lists. They are very easy to create in OE by just naming the group the SELECTING the addresses to put into the group by clicking the "Select Members" button and double-clicking the person from the address book. In T-bird, there's no such "Select Members" button; you're asked to manually enter the e-mail address -- a royal pain in the arse. So I've been looking at Outlook as an alternative, since it is available in all versions of Office.

I still use Office 2000 on the desktop, mainly because MS destroyed the ability to do easy mail-merges with Access in Office 2007/2010 (cannot use queries as written; have to replace all "*" with "%" -- which only works with mail-merge, but not when run as a query in Access). I imported my OE address book into Outlook's Contacts folder, thinking that was the same as an address book. But when I try to create an e-mail and click the To: button, it tells me, "The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted. . . See MS Outlook Help."

MS Outlook Help, like most MS Help, is useless. I found MS pages like this whi... Read more

PC #1: Win98, Office XP, MS Mail.
PC #2: WinXP, Office XP, MS Mail.

User on PC #1 has a distribution list with about 8 MS Mail (interoffice, not internet) email addresses, including PC #2. All other emails go through; one will be returned as undeliverable - the one for PC #2.

I tried to duplicate the problem on my pc, but it all goes through.

If user on PC #1 sends an email to PC #2, not using a distribution list, it will go through, even if he sends it to a bunch of people.

I don't know if this matters, but there are two internet email addresses on this distribution list - most of it is interoffice email via MS Mail.

Windows & Office have all their updates & patches.

Anyone ever encounter this trippy thing? Any ideas of what to do?

Thanks,
Lisa

Today, I converted my PST file from Outlook 2000 format to the Outlook 2003 format and it works fine but tonight when I went to send an email, the Contact list displayed but it would not enter any of the contacts into the "new" email that I wanted to send. An error message appeared and it says;

"Address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened. It may have been moved or deleted or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the outlook address book, see Microsoft Outlook Help."

I tried every word I can think of to search for a solution in the help section and nothing worked or even seemed helpful. I have also tried to import address lists from various sources but that does not work because the list is already there but not associated with the Contacts list present in my program.

Any ideas on how to get my address list to work?

Hi

I have a filter set up on my Outlook e-mail which does the following:

- Check mail when it arrives
- Move messages to 'EXTERNAL MAIL' folder
- Except where 'Sender' is in 'GLOBAL ADDRESS LIST'.

Great, all my external e-mail is filtered from my inbox. This means that I can focus on my inbox and deal with important stuff before I sift through all the junk in my external mail folder.

But then I get external e-mail that I want to stay in my inbox (eg. From my wife!).

So I have added another exception 'Except if from '[email protected]' or '[email protected]' etc.

What I would really like to do is have exceptions that say:

- Except where 'Sender' is in 'GLOBAL ADDRESS LIST' or 'CONTACTS'.

That way as soon as I add someone to my contacts, their e-mail doesn't get filtered out. I can then see an e-mail and think 'Oh, I don't want that one filtered next time', add the sender to my contacts and job done.

However, it seems taht you can only have ONE 'except if sender is in specified address book' exception.

Does anyone know a way round this?

Thanks

Ben

In the CONTACTS section of Outlook 2007 there are various default settings that I don't like. But I don't find options to change them.
1.
The main one is that the address box LOOKS as ONE field, but is in fact a collection of invisible fields: Street, City, State, Zip, Country. What you type in that big box is sometimes unclear to Outlook, then it pops up an edit box with all the separate fields. Sometimes there WAS already a (default) Country/Region in the box and then the result of a printed address could be: John Johnson, 1st Street 1, LA, CA 98765, USA, The Netherlands.
I would prefer to see the 'split' address view by default. How?
And if it is not possible, how can I force Outlook to show the split box when I need it?
2.
The same address box has two options, business and home. Business is shown by default, so often I type private addresses in the wrong box - with confusing results when grouping, printing etc.
Can BOTH the Home AND the Business address box be displayed at the same time?
If not possible, then can I instruct Outlook to display the Home box by default?
3.
Similar problem with the Email box. I always have to use the dropdownlist to see/edit/use a 2nd or 3rd email. In this time where many people have several email addresses, at least 2 of them should be visible by default in the standard view.

I know that I can customize my Outlook Contact page completely to my own needs. I gave it a few attempts, but the result was a bewildering mess. Lots worse than th... Read more

Hi, I need some help from you guys to clarify some issues in Outlook 2003.
I have added some contacts, catagorised them, eg. Colleagues, Friends, Family. Now that I want to send e-mails to all my colleagues.

I opened the "New Message to Contact" then clicked on the "To" button and waited to see the list of my contacts show up, however, it shows a dialog box saying:

"The address list could not be displayed (not including the smiley ofcourse). The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted... blah blah blah"

Knowing that nothing is deleted or damaged, I ignored it, and tried to create distribution list, gave it a name and clicked on "Select Members" then the same messsage box appears (as above).

I've been told that it uses contacts in the "Address Book" of Windows (to my knowledge, when you back up Outlook 2003 .pst files, these entried aren't backup too) and I would liek to keep my contacts in one place, in the .pst that is, so does this mean, to have distribution list (mailing list) to mass mail to my colleagues, I must use Windows's Address Book ? This has also been an issue with my clients who use Outlook.

How does all these contacts thingy work ? I would like to get my head around it, gimme a hand guys

A:Outlook Mailing-List / Distribution List

You need to set up Outlook to use your Contacts as an address book. Go to Tols > Options and click the Mail Setup tab and select the Mail Options button. Select the radio button for View or Change Existing directories or Address books. Click next and see if there is an entry for Outlook Address book and if it isn't there add it. If it is there it may be corrupted thus your message so delete it and recreate it. Once it is in there open your contacts folder and in the Outlook bar on the left right click on the contact item and select properties. select the Outlook Address Book tab and put a check in "Show this Folder as an Address Book" Should work after that.

I recently purchased a new computer that has Office 2010 installed. I would like to move the contents of my .pts file from my old computer which has Outlook 2007 to my new computer which has Outlook 2010. Before, when I wanted to transfer my .pts file from one computer to another I would just copy the file to a portable hard drive and then transfer the file to the other computer. However, Outlook 2010 is completely different animal. When I go to C:, Users, App Data, etc., new computer, it is completely different from my other computer that had Vista. My question is, how can I transfer my .pts file and/or my address book, calendar, contacts, etc. for my older Windows Vista computer that had Outlook 2007, to my new computer that has Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 installed? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

A:Solved: Moving Outlook Messages and Address Book From Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2010

Hello referee07;

Copy your .pst file from your old computer to the new one or your portable hard drive.

To launch the Outlook 2010 Export/Import wizard, first go to File menu, navigate to Open, and click Import.

In the Import And Export wizard, select Import from another program or file option and hit Next

Under File Type, select Outlook Data File(.pst) and hit Next

Now choose the file to import, select the options, and hit Next

Once done, finally select the folder to import from(if you want to import complete data don’t change any settings) and make sure Include subfolders is checked. You can either import the file to the current folder or choose the folder.

Hope this helps!

Well, those *******s at Microsoft have done it again. The Address List in Microsoft Outlook Express that docks at the lower left side of the OE window is gone missing on me and I have no idea how to restore it and I have wasted over an hour screwing with it to no avail.

A normally intelligent person would believe that restoring the Address List should be a one click operation but obviously that is too hard for those ***-wipes at Microsoft to accomplish so they made it a hide & seek Address List.

It is times like this that make me think seriously about taking a baseball bat to my Windows computer and then buying an Apple Computer. At least then I would know I have something that works the way it is supposed to.

If anyone can please give me a set of directions (and please keep it to under 50 pages; but that may not be possible the way the morons at Microsoft write their code) on how I can restore my Address List I would really, REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks and Happy Holidays to all.

I have a friend who has created a mailing list using a feature of WordPro. It created a file with an extension of lwp. She uses it to do mail merges. Does anyone know a way to import such a file into Lotus 1-2-3, or Approach (or any other spreadsheet or database)?

A:WordPro Address List

I think I may be one of the few people who has actually used Word Pro, but unfortunately I don't remember using that feature.

If I'm not mistaken, LWP is just the normal file format for Word Pro. If so, you can at least get the information in a basic form by just saving the file in a format that other programs understand (like Word or even just plain text).

If there's a way in Word Pro to save the mailing list in a more meaningful universal format, you could try that. It's possible it will allow you to save the data in CSV format (comma separated values - sometimes tabs are used as well), which would at least keep the pieces of data separate and might allow you to import it more easily.

It's not a knock against this forum, but what I might actually recommend is repeating the question on the Lotus SmartSuite forums.

http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/ssforum.nsf

(Filtered for only Word Pro messages: http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/ssforum...penView&ExpandView&RestricttoCategory=WordPro )

The truth is, not too many people are using Word Pro these days, although it's got some advantages over Word, namely its page layout is a lot more sophisticated.

You might be able to find a PIM (personal information manager) program that will import the data for you. Then you could export it elsewhere. I can't tell you one off the top of my head (or even if one exists), but it's possible. Maybe Word Pro was/is popular in some foreign country, for ins... Read more

Hi,

In our organisation, we have 200+ users that use Microsoft outlook 2016 or Office 365 Outlook (clients).

All of them are set to auto for their Global Address List, which unfortunately checked the offline version first before the online version. We want to set the Online Global Address List as default and the only way I think I can do this is via Group Policy. But I have no clue on how to set it up, I've done a few searches and found nothing, apart from older versions of Outlook that it doesn't work for.

Has anyone else done this?

I posted this back in January and don't think I saw an answer.
I just tried it again and when I added the names to a new "group" in last name order and when I looked at them after I accepted the group list they were in first name order and I don't see how to reorder them.
Mail items sent to this group, of course, are sent out by first name, which confuses people. I guess I could send blind copies and no one would see anything but this particular list, the people like to have the other email address.

Apparently I don't know what I am doing.

I have a user who's username ended up being very close to that of the head of our HR department. Because of this, people aren't paying attention and are sending sensitive HR information to this user. We decided the best way to fix this was to rename the user. So, in AD, I changed:

The users name as is listed in AD Users and Groups
The Display Name (under General Tab)
The logon name (under account tab)
Alias (under Exchange General)
and everything under Email Addresses

It is not that this didn't work. The user can now log on as their new user account. The email transferred over fine and if I email the new email account it goes right through. Also, the old user account can no longer log in. However, the one problem that I am having is that the old email account still works and the users old name still shows up in the GAL. I have no idea how to fix these two problems. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Actually, nevermind folks. I think I just didnt give it enough time to populate. The name in the GAL has changed now.

Thanks.

Is there any way I can set up a global address list similar to what Exchange offers but without using an Exchange server?
Specifically I'm looking for one global address list(only email addresses), with the option of every user creating one private (preferably password protected) folder for his/her own private contacts. This should all reside on the server.

I'm using win98 and Outlook 2000 in a small business environment with Novell and normal windows networking. Upgrading to exchange is not an option.

Any help or ideas are welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Daneel Smuts

Does any one know about or have a tool that can map all the members of a Global Address List. We have members all around the world and in different workgroups and team that we would like to visulize? Can it even be done?

I use Outlook 2007 for my email needs. I have email addresses in my Contact list and I have email addresses in what I call the Address Book. The Address Book is what I can use when I'm sending an email and I click on the TO: button to find an address. It seems that theses are two completely different lists of email addresses. Am I correct? if so, is there a way to synch to a "common" list?

Thank you!

I had gone to a couple of gaming sites researching on some games and out of nowhere, it had popped up adult sites all over the place. I did all my spyware software and cleared out all the adult crap, but all of a sudden, they are showing up on my address dropdown list! Even after running the software, I thought that would clear them off the list.

Is there anyway besides clearing out all of the history that I can get rid of the one or 2 individual adult web addresses? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Everytime I put something in my address to look something up, this url keeps coming up. It is a sexual picture and I can't get rid of it. Even if I clear my whole list it keeps coming up. I have a 14 year old son that I would prefer not to see this kind of thing. Is this a virus or just something that came with a download and now we are stuck with it. Please help! Thanks!

A:Sexual websites in address list

Hi Teller3, a lot of people seem to having this kind of problem lately. Have you run an updated antivirus scan?

You can do an online one here:

http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/

It would also be useful to see what you have running at startup. There are some websites out there that can cause the Windows Search and Homepage entries in the registry to be modified every bootup. There files may show up in the Startuplog.

You can download, unzip and run the Startuplog.com file from the site below. It will place a file, Startuplog.txt, on your desktop. Just copy and paste the entire contents of that (not stubbpaths.txt) to your next reply.

Hi,

i was trying yesterday to find out for several hours how to create in Outlook 2000 distribution list with names chosen upon one, specific outlook "category"... I know how to create distribution list itself... I know how to make outlook to show me all names in my address book with this specific category... BUT, how mix it together and in the end receive distribution list with all names of this category included, I cant do it, i am too big idiot comparing to MS coders.... ((

Yours, but very sad and disappointed about my mental possibilities

Jazzek

A:Outlook 2K: How to create distribution list based upon certain outlook category???

Hi Jazzek -- I just did this, with the help of Russ Valentine at the MS Outlook newsgroups. Here are the instructions he sent me (and I used successfully):

"Change the Contacts Folder View to Categories. Right click and drag the
desired Category to
a newly created sub folder then choose Copy. Make sure the new sub folder
has been enabled as an email address book by right clicking on it and
choosing Properties and Outlook Address Book Tab and checking the box to
enable
as email address book. Create your Distribution List but make sure the Show
Names drop down field points to the new sub folder then shift select all the
contacts and voila."

I hate cruising the MS Newsgroups, as the interface is so weird and searching the archives is a total pain on their site (and incomplete in my newsreader), but I DO occasionally get help there.

Hope this helps. If I've misunderstood your problem, post me back.

I need to send an e-mail group list created in Outlook 2002 to a user who has Outlook Express (I think it's ver 5).

I tried exporting it as a .pst file but his computer opened it in Wordpad and garbled everything.

Is it OK to send it as a .pst file? If so, what's the proper way for the user to import the e-mail list onto their computer?

If .pst files aren't the way to go, what is the best export/import process?
