I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had a problem like this before. My problem the first time was that was that one of the bars in playback control were all the way down.(If you click on the speaker in your task bar then open volume control.) The second time was when i was in the same thing in playback control click on advance in the volume section then uncheck the digital output only then my speakers worked. Also if that dosn't work try reinstalling your driver for your sound card.

Hi, Try the following. Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp75501-76000/sp75983.exe When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall. When complete, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking. Regards, DP-K

Hello HP support community. I have an HP Pavilion 14-al061nr (ENERGY STAR) laptop and it has this problem where over a small period of usage the sound goes out. Someone please help this is really getting on my nerves. But essentially there is no enhancements tab, and nothing happened when I got the newest drivers.

A:Low Volume through Laptop Speakers

It could be a heat issue causing a component to work intermittently. Often times in electronics something will work when it's cool but stop working when it warms up or will not work when it's cool but then start working when it warms up. These can be some of the hardest problems to diagnose. It's not necessarily overheating, just normal temps causing things to expand and contract. It could be caused by a poor solder joint. If your drivers are good then it could be a hardware issue such as what I described above. If that's the case the fix is to replace the motherboard. Is the laptop still under warranty? If so, you would contact HP about it.

Was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I have a Dell Dell UltraSharp 1901FP Flat Panel with Dell AS500 Sound Bar .
About a week ago the volume from the sound bar seems very weak even when turned up to max volume. Just started out of the blue, I've checked the sound/audio and everything is set to high.
These are 3 yrs old. Could the sound bar just be dying out?

For some reason, there was sound coming out from both the computer's internal speakers and the headphones that were plugged into it at the time I did this. I tried keeping the 'speakers' volume down all the way in the volume mixer, but this caused all the 'Applications' audio to turn off as well. So I went to its (Speakers) general properties and disabled then applied changes. Now I can't find said Speakers device anywhere in the control panel under 'Hardware and Sound.'

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on an '09 iMac with Boot Camp. I don't know if this directly affects the problem in any way, but just putting that out there.

Hi, I bought a new headset today, identical to that of my sister, which is very loud ( in a good way). So, when I plugged the set to my speakers I was disappointed because it was lower than that of my sister's. But then I thought to plug it to front green panel of the unit and boom!!! the sound was crystal-clear as my sister's. The question is: why that happens and how can receive the same amount of volume from both inputs?

A:My headset has low volume when plugged in speakers

If you plug it into a jack on the speakers, the speaker system determines the volume. When you plug it into the headphone jack on the PC the sound chip and system volume control determine the volume.

The Impedance of the headset can also affect volume level.

H,mmm did you check the volume control on both the speakers and in the software? One or the other could be set to minimum. Cycle the volume control pot full down to full up on the speaker, maybe a dead spot in the pot. It can happen. Also you might have it full down and you think it is full up. Turn speakers On / Off. Remove and replug the speaker jack in the computer, making sure it is fully seated. Try a different software program to play via the speakers.

If all else fails try a second pair of speakers. That will allow you to isolate the problem to the speakers or in the computer.

Good day,

I'm using a fairly new HP Mini netbook and ever since I got it I have this problem of low volume in plugged in headphones and speakers. The netbook speakers themselves are pretty fantastic, but if I plug in headphones or speakers, it seems that the computer lowers the volume substantially to the point that I can't even use speakers for listening to music or watching movies (on full blast, you might be able to make out speech on a film for example, but not from very far away; that's how low the volume is).

I've gone through everything I can think of, checked all the various levels in the volume mixer and audio hardware options, made sure everything is to the max, re-installed my IDT High Definition Audio CODEC driver, all with no results. I also have tried out the speakers both with the Loudness Equalization feature enabled and disabled with no noticeable effects. I've also tested the computer with different sets of headphones/speakers and so it must be some properties of the computer that are the issue here.

I appreciate your help.

Sincerely Wulfrich

A:Extremely low volume in headphones/speakers

First off, this is my first post ever on this forum ( yay ) and i'm not too up to date with technology and the terminology that goes with it so you will most likely have to break some things down as simply as possible for me.

So basically i just bought a new set of logitech x-530 speakers which are amazing and all except for this one tiny problem.

Whenever i connect ANY pair of headphones or earbuds or w.e into it's headphone jack i can hear the sound just fine but i cannot control the volume using the dial.Basically it's like they are connected just fine but only to the extent that i can only hear sound but not control it.

(My own mind told me to first off try and update my sound drivers but you see i don't quite know how to do that ,i let the thing search for any available updates on its own but it always says the drivers are up to date which i don't really believe.)

Help would be appreciated.

A:Speakers volume control problem.

Are you sure the volume control for the speakers is suppose to control the headphones and not just the speakers?
Does it work to control the speaker volume?
If it is suppose to control the headphone volume as well then its going to be a hardware problem with the volume control dial or something else in the speakers and not anything on the PC, so updating the drivers isn't going to help. Once you plug the headphones and use the dial on the speakers the computer gives up the control - you can still control the master volume on the PC but the dial should work independently.

You can either try contacting Logitech for support to find out if your set is broken or wait for someone with the same or similar set that knows if the dial can control the headphone volume as well.

I would suggest you to update BIOS and reinstall the audio driver on the Dell system. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the audio card.

In the search box, Start typing devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
Select the Sound, video and game controllers listed and expand it.
You should find Realtek High definition audio or audio controller please right click on it.
Now select properties.
In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
Check “Delete the driver software for this device.”
You want to delete the driver click OK.

After uninstallation please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section and audio driver from audio section onto the system and install it.

Hey guys,I have a problem with the volume from my speakers. At a completely random time today, my speaker volume drastically decreased. Usually, when I turn the dial to my speakers up to 100%, the sound is extremely loud. Now, at 100%, the audio is significantly lower. When I plug in a headset into the front Audio port of my computer tower, the sound at 100% is lower than what it used to be as well. The speaker model is Emachines, SP-30A. The volume settings on my computer have not changed. I use Windows Vista, and I have verified that the volume levels are at 100%. The power source has not changed. Nor has the wiring changed either (I made sure that the wires running to the back of my computer are correct). Here is what I've done:Ran Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware: Turned up clean.Ran AVG Free 2011: Turned up clean.Ran SpyBot Search And Destroy: Turned up clean.I have attempted to update my sound card driver, however it said it was already up to date. These facts led me to believe that it is not a virus; however I cannot be sure.If anyone could provide some help it would be greatly appreciated. I can't do anything involving audio with this crappy sound.

A:Beyond Fustrated! - Emachine speakers volume decrease!

The only thing that comes to mind straight off is that, depending on what audio setup the system is equipped with, there may be an option like "boost" buried somewhere maybe on an advanced tab in the audio properties, that may have got turned off somehow.

Hi! I have external Altec Lansing speakers that I use to connect to my iPhone and laptop to listen to music. When I first got the speakers, they worked fine and there was no problem. I've only used them a couple times. Now, they are fine when they are at a very low volume, but when I turn the volume up they start a high "screeching" sound, and as I turn the volume louder, the sound gets lower in tone and louder. I can turn the volume up loud enough to eliminate the sound, but then the speakers are really loud. The sound is VERY loud. This happens no matter if I have a device connected to the speakers or not. Can anyone help? These were expensive speakers, and I'd like to use them longer! Thanks!

the volume adjustment that is on the speakers.

I noticed I was cranking up the volume using the "little speaker" volume control in the System Tray, and then also noticed the volume setting/adjustment on the (right) speaker itself was only about half-way.

Question:
Better to turn the volume setting on the speakers "ALL THE WAY UP" and leave it there?
or, use up to the MAX setting on the computer audio volume and leave the speaker volume setting half-way or thereabouts?

Could cranking the volume to max on the speakers damage or shorten the life of the speakers?
Or, are most speaker systems "built to take it"?

Thank you!!

I do this as I use a laptop and sometime my stereo speakers are not plugged in so don't really like full volume pumping out of my tiny laptop speakers. Would be interesting if someone has a definitive answer.

I recently purchased the Polk Hampden Speakers. For some reason, the manual volume control built into the speakers themselves doesn't affect the volume level. The only way I can adjust the volume is by using my computers volume control software (the little white speaker in the bottom left of Windows 7/8). I am fairly certain the hardware volume control isn't broken, because when I first plugged them in ( a week or 2 ago) they worked fine. It wasn't until I disconnected/reconnected everything from my computer when I installed a new desk that this problem started.
However, even the software volume control isn't working properly either. In particular, when I go into the mixer to see the volume levels for each application, if I adjust the main "Device - speaker volume" it won't alter the specific applications volumes accordingly. Like, I can reduce the main - device speaker volume all the way to zero (not muted) and the applications will still have the same volume level as they did before I adjusted it.
Finally, even my keyboard bindings to the volume control are whacky. I can still adjust the "main - device speaker" volume with the keyboard, however since this "main - device speaker" volume no longer influences the individual application speaker volume level it is pointless to do so.
I have tried disabling all other sound drivers/sound hardware, but it doesn't help.

The other day I realized when listening to audio that the volume on the left side was significantly lower through the headphones on my U400. I checked and this problem also exists through the computer speakers. It does not appear to be a problem when I tried it using the hdmi port to my TV as a test.I've played with every audio setting I could find in Windows 10 and have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous audio or audio-related drivers. I've also tried different audio programs (iTunes, Skype, Media Player, etc.). Nothing seems to have had much effect on the issue. I've tried settings such as the volume equalization, changing the balance settings, disabling and enabling enhancements. The only thing that appears to somewhat address the issue is when I lower the volume on the headphones (with the volume control on the headphone set). At some point that seems to allow both sides to be equal, but the volume is much lower than I'd like. Any thoughts as to what the problem might be related to would be much appreciated. I find it interesting that the problem doesn't appear (to me) to be related to the external jack because the same problem occurs with the computer speakers. However, there is no problem as far as i can hear when I use the digital hdmi connection. Thanks

I'm getting only minimal sound from the internal speakers of my Latitude E6420. The volume is very low, even though it's set to the highest level. Also, the sound is tinny. It's similar to what you hear from headphones at a distance, like when someone near you is listening to headphones at a high volume, or if you take off your headphones while the audio is still playing.

Whenever I listen with headphones, the sound is great, but with the internal speakers the audio is practically nonexistent.

I've set the internal speakers as my default speakers, I've adjusted the loudness equalization, and I've reinstalled the audio drivers. I've even tried wiggling a toothpick inside the speaker jack, but nothing has resolved this issue.

Could be the speaker connection is bad (need reseated?). The speakers are connected by a plug in connector according to what I find in the Dell manual. That would be my "best guess" as the problem. Reseating the connector (unplug then plug back in) would be a good first start. Looks sort of complicated though.

Solution is much appreciated.

Edit: My apologies, if i have posted on the wrong section, kindly move if able

When a friend's laptop was connected to an external HDMI monitor with integrated speakers, the volume attainable through the laptop speakers was louder than that attainable through the external monitor.
Hardware differences could easily account for the volume differences.

But what was odd was the Windows 7 sound control panel. The image below is an example of that control panel (but on their system, Headphones would be replaced by the external monitor's speakers).

Even though all volumes were turned up to 100%, when the laptop's speakers were set as the default, the green level indicators would fill all the bars (during loud sounds), but when the external monitor's speakers were set as the default, the green level indicators would never fill more than half the bars.

Why is this, and can anything be done to improve the volume on the external monitor?

A:Why is Windows showing less volume for an external monitor's speakers?

When HDMI connection is used, the HDMI sound is generated separately from the regular PC audio. The HDMI audio, in almost all cases, is either generated internally in the video card or generated from an S/PDIF (digital) connection. Then you have the difference in the audio system in the external monitor. Thus comparing the regular PC audio to HDMI isn't a good comparison.

My speakers are built in with my monitor. I have an
HP w185e monitor
sound card: Realtek High Definition Audio
CPU: AMD E-300 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
Motherboard: PEGATRON CORPORATION 2AD3
RAM: 3GB
Graphics Card: Amd Radeon HD 6310
Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit
The computer is an HP Pavilion p2 desktop model.

So I will just be listening to music and i'll hear the volume decrease, and the sound become muffled. Sometimes i'll be listening to music and the speakers will suddenly become amazing. It's been happening for several weeks. I haven't installed any new audio drivers or anything.

I can describe the sound as decreasing in quality significantly. Sometimes it sounds like it's clicking rapidly if you put your ear close to the speakers.

Any help is greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazy! LOL!

Edit: It's clicking more loudly now, to the point it's messing with my music.

A:Speakers Randomly Change volume, Click, and/or Become Muffled.

Reseat the audio cable at both the monitor and PC ends (unplug then plug back in) and see if that helps.

Plug a headset into the rear GREEN speaker jack and see if you get the same thing with a headset. That will isolate the problem to either the PC or the monitor's speakers.

I have a small but irritating problem of a German talkshow coming from my speakers. Even if the speakers are turned on but the volume is right down I have these voices coming through the speakers.

It's really annoying when I'm listening to radio online or even watching videos on the PC, the German cut's into everything whenever the speakers are turned on. The volume fades from time to time to just a buzzing noise but then suddenly the volume will increase and voices can be heard clearly.

I'm assuming it's a news/talk programme as occasionally they do talk in English and it's news items. I don't have any particular programme open when it happens. The pc can be turned on but nothing running and the voices will come through.

Does anyone know what may be causing this and a way to maybe fix it and make it go away?

A:German talkshow coming through the speakers, loud even with the volume down

Does it still happen when physically disconnected from Internet? Also is anything connected to the system RF controlled? Are the speakers possibly wireless?

I'm just trying to think of anything a stray signal might come in on...

I've just re-loaded Win7 and all is well - except. The system sound is very low - all other sounds are okay - I've done everything that I can think of, updated software checked the adjustment for communications, adjusted everything I can think of.

I seem to recall that I had this problem last time I re-loaded windows but, of course, I never documented it, think it had something to do with the actual speakers.

Anyone help?

A:Low System Volume with Altec Lansing BXR1121 speakers

Hello Sikm,

Thank you for notifying us of your problem.

Is you think it's a problem with your speakers, can you try plugging them into another computer and see if it works?

If it works fine in another computer, it's a problem with your computer and we'll have to resolve it.

Thank you,
VinnyBuxton

I am looking for a way or software to increase the volume of the front speakers from a 5.1 speaker system. If I use Windows Volume Control Options and test the 5 speakers all sound great and equal. However, if I watch a movie or play a game the front speakers are barely audible. I am aware that the movie or game itself may have a lot to do with it nevertheless I would like to have control over this.
My sound is ''AMD High Definition Audio Device'' coming from the AMD catalyst set of drivers.
I looked up "Audio Manager" or "Sound Manager" but the result are of software, that in my opinion is wrongly named, being that they are music file managers and have nothing to do with sound/audio.
Thank you

A:Looking 4method or software 2increase the volume of front speakers

AMD High Definition Audio Device from AMD Catalyst is NOT your PC sound device. The AMD is for HDMI audio.

You audio, according to the specs on the ASUS site, is VIA VT1708S 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC

Unless there is a VIA control panel with separate level controls for the different speakers you are stuck with what you have. Many video players and games have audio options and that is probably the best you can do.
