Dell XPS 15 9560 + Intel AC 8265 WiFi

Q: Dell XPS 15 9560 + Intel AC 8265 WiFi

I upgraded my XPS 15 9560 Killer WiFi with Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265.
WiFi works flawlessly.
Bluetooth devices installed correctly ("This device is working properly") and visible: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R), Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator.
But Bluetooth can't find any devices.
I have tried Intel driver from Dell downloads and official Intel driver 20.0.0_64.
In Windows 10 x64 Bluetooth settings it just gets stuck saying "Your PC is searching for and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices" and never actually finds anything.
Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

You must actually connect (pair) bluetooth devices like bt headphones or other peripherals to get it to work. What BT devices do you have? The enumerators are not devices. See --

When I undock the laptop by pulling the USB-C cable out (either sleeping beforehand or not sleeping first) then I am getting an intermittent issue where the wifi claims to be disabled. The only way to resolve this is a hard reboot.
Toggling airplane mode doesn't help. Disabling and reenabling the wifi network connection doesn't help. Toggling airplane mode from Fn-PrtScr doesn't help.
It is acting as though the hardware radio is turned off (like when laptops used to come with a hardware radio switch), but with no method to turn it on again.
Looking in the system event log I can see entries from source Netwtw04, Event ID 7012 stating "radio OFF"
Drivers and bios are all up to date.

Any ideas?

Time of purchase the lenovo product page ofthis M910q tiny desktop the customizing screens were so ambiguous and when I received the product in hand then realized there is no wifi and bluetooth whatsoever.   However I was able to make it out from external discussion groups about its optional, then went back to product page learnt there is a cost of $35 for Intel Wireless-AC 8265...  so in the hopes of doing it myself I've purchased Intel Wifi Wireless-AC 8265 8265.NGWMG separately and tried to install it but when I opened the box apparently there is no slot at all.  Please advise how can I make this installed?  The online customer support just allows to open the ticket, smart backoffice support folks cancels the tickets without any resolutions and if I tried to reach via phone lines goes in circles... I have just bought a Yoga 730-13IKB Laptop - Type 81CTIt comes with the Intel(r) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 wifi adapter. I do not manage to get it keeping connected to wifi. It disconnects constantly. I have my old notebook connected to the same access point without any problemI have updated Windows 10 to the newest version, and also the driver (from Intel, version, date: 11/3/2019) from Lenovo support center. Please help me solve the problem!

A:YOGA 730 with intel 8265 wifi adapter constatly disconnects!

Now be careful but you may want to try opening it up to see if the thing sits right in there. I looked into the 730 quite extensively online before my purchase and saw it mentioned somewhere that a lot of wifi problems may be due to shoddy installation. Mine has an Intel 9260 160MHz adapter and no drops so far.EDIT: BEFORE you do that check your battery settings. Right click on battery> power options>change plan settings>change advanced power settings>wireless adapter settings>power saving mode and fiddle with these settings. Could be Windows' power saving is disabling your wifi though I kind of doubt it. Mine is on maximum power saving and no drops yet.Could you tell if it shows the wifi signal dropping in the bottom right corner or can you tell it's dropping when you're downloading sth or gaming?

Yesterday I received my 720s i7-8550u MX150 laptop and on first impressions I am impressed with the laptop (Although I have only used for a couple hours). However the wifi performance of the QCA9377 wifi card is very poor and I would like to swap out for an Intel 8265. I have however read about whitelisting - The fact that Lenovo lock down the bios so the machine only boots with certain hardware installed.  Coming from using Dell laptops this seems madness to me! I can get a 'Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265, 2230, 2x2 AC + BT, Vpro' wifi card from Amazon UK for 17.95 delivered but I wanted to check: 1) That I will be ok to swap the cards over and have the warranty maintained.  I'll keep the old card so I can replace if I need to send back for warranty reasons.2) That if I swap the wifi card over it will work ok with my laptop My part number is 81BD0044UK and I have looked at the manual at https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad720s-14ikb_hmm_201705.pdf which lists the following card in the parts list: Wirelesslan_WIFI, Intel 8265 2x2AC+BT PCIE M.2 WLAN NV, WIFI 2X2 AC+BT4.1 SW10K97453 Can anyone please help confirm that I am ok to swap the card over please? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Matt

When my Carbon 5th is connected to 5 GHz Wifi it randomly resets (drops) after several hours (connection is being lost, Windows reports "Cannot connect to the network"). Sometimes it is possible to connect again manually, sometimes only reboot makes it work again. Connection to 2.4 GHz Wifi always works totally fine. I've seen several similar topics on Intel forums with the same issue, looks like it touches several Intel WiFi adapters. No solution have been found except using only old 2.4 GHz protocols or external WiFi adaptors. I tried different drivers and many parameter sets on my router - nothing solves this issue. It is very sad to have only 20mbps with 2.4 GHz while new standards offer more than 100mbps. Did you face this issue? Any ideas to solve it out?

Hello, I've had my X1C7 carbon for a few weeks now and i've discovered a bug that is causing me some distress. I've been troubleshooting for some time now why my wifi appears slow even though when checking the wifi status it tells me i have 866mbits full speed connectivity. Upon restarting the machine and running a speedtest i get real world speeds of 450mbit/s which is perfeclty normal in 802.11 AC envoirment, you actually never get 866mbits as advertised due to various overhead and disturbance but 450mbit/s is acceptable. Once i close the lid to sleep the machine, wait for lets say 5 minutes, i resume from sleep and try the same speedtest, i get 30mbit/s. The wifi still indicates i am at 866mbit/s but real world speeds are greatly reduced. It won't change until i reset the adapter by either changing a setting that triggers it to reconnect to the network or simply just manually reconnect. So what i've tried is the following: * Uninstalling the driver and attempted to install the driver from intels website (cannot be installed, it just fails without any notice, no message in event viewer either, driver can be found here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/99446/Intel-Wireless-AC-9560)* Re-installing the driver found on lenovo website.* Disabling Mimo Power Save Mode* Setting both NIC and AP to 802.11N instead of 802.11AC, tried both VHT 40 and VHT 80 on the channels.* Tried "prefer 5ghz network" setting etc. I've verified from the AP's dire... I just purchased a Dell XPS 15 9560 less than a week ago and the WiFi is causing some issues.
The speeds are good when I am right next to the router but if I move into the next room over (less than 3 meters away) the speed slows down dramatically (to about 0.5-3 mb/s).
There are 2 older laptops in the house and both of them have good speeds from anywhere in the house. One of them is also a Dell although not an XPS model.

I have updated the drivers and BIOS and I have spoken with tech support on the phone but they were not able to resolve the issue either.
Could this be a faulty wireless card or antennas?

Hi,  Maybe this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find the answer... Lenovo X1 Yoga 2nd Gen's Intel AC 8265 should be able to work at 450 Mbps, but it only works at 300 Mbps.  Does it have only two antennas on the OLED model so it can't reach full speed, so to speak? Or is it related to something else?  Thanks!

If I helped you, please give me some kudos! ^^

Hi, I am new to these forums so a big hello to everyone. I am looking for confirmation on compatibility with T440s (BIOS 2.44) and Intel AC 8265 Wireless card (FRU: 01AX704) Can anyone confirm in BIOS 2.44 (Latest) if the following card above has been added to the BIOS Whitelist? I would rather get some confirmed solid confirmation before I purchase. The Intel AC 7260 is not the greatest of cards and an upgrade would be nice. I don't see it feasible that Lenovo would have individual whitelists for individual ThinkPad series, I would say that it is likely they update all the whitelists as and when new cards come on to the market? Best Wishes Vince

We have just purchased the XPS 13 over the past weekend.  The laptop was working great, until the creators update occured.e

once the update occured the WLAN auto-config service appears to crash during the association phase when the laptop is attempting to connect to an SSID.  It starts to connect, then the autoconfig config crashes and the laptop stops probing for beacons.  I am able to get Wi-FI to work with one of my USB Wi-FI cards.
I have had to roll back to windows 10 in-order to get the wifi card to work.  I have tried the latest drivers from intel and the Dell site and I have been unable to get the wifi-card to function.

A:XPS 13 2-in 1 (9365) intel 8265 no longer working after creator update

The Creator's Build did not bother my system.  Other than always having to set my system to a Private network after such an upgrade/update, it works normally.
Can we assume all of your Drivers/Bios updates are done?  If you want to give some info regarding your configuration, we can compare systems.
Windows 10 seems to have a built in driver for that Wi-Fi adapter.  The Dell driver should work better, so you might try to reinstall it, just in case or vice versa..

These virtual machines are set to access network and internet through a virtual switch setup on top of the P50 WLAN interface. I would like to share regarding crashes I got after performing system update on Lenovo Vantage yesterday. After performing two updates (Intel Online Connect and Intel 8265 WLAN driver) on 1/16 6:09AM early morning, a BSoD occurred on 9:03AM. Upon checking the memory dump using windebugger, the issue was invalid memory read access initiated by vmswitch (Hyper-V Virtual adapter). Installed vmswitch.sys on my P50 is version 10.0.16299.192, time stamp 1/8/2018 5:32AM. Quite new. Upon checking for possible causes, I read on other forum regarding suggestion to disable VM queue on each network interface on all VMs. I changed these right away.  However, on 5:06PM same day, a second BSoD occured. This time the memory dump writing somehow failed, hence I lost the latest dump and also the previous dump (as it is overwritten by the last BSoD process). The bugcheck details from both crash occurences as registered on Event Log are similar thou. As disabling VMQ didn't solve the BSoD problem, I removed the Intel 8265... Read more

I hope this question / machine combination has not been posted already.

Expericing random BSOD with Dell XPS M1330 Notebook.
BSOD occurs during web surfing, skype calls, idle, or bt downloading (basically, "random")

Using windows 7 ultimate 64-bit english - as far as I can tell all drivers are up-to-date. (used "drivermax" application to get a diagnostic, then went out to search for all individual drivers)

Install is OEM upgrade disc and did clean install from working XP pro on the machine

from my own testing nearly 99% sure it's the wireless acting up --reasons:
1) no BSOD occurs if i plug in an usb external wifi dongle or use the wired NIC
2) no BSOD occurs if i turn-off the on-board Intel wifi using the physical wifi on/off switch on the compter.
3) BSOD occurs randomly when on-board Intel wifi is on, no matter which power setting or action.

my laptop is a Dell XPS M1330
Core Duo T7500
4GB DD2-667 Ram (Kingston - self upgraded)
Bios A15
Geforce 8400GS
Dell 355 bluetooth
Intel Pro Wireless A/B/G 3495
8x slot DVD-RW Matsushita
UPEK fingerprint reader
Sigmatel (IDT?) HD audio
Ricoh card reader (don't have specifi model with me)
- Have had my mobo/gpu replaced once due to Geforce 8400 issues

This error occurs constantly whenever wifi and computer is on. I can post additional dump files that shows basically same error code but sometimes the source of crash is ntkernel while other times it's ntwifi or something similar.

A:BSOD on Dell XPS M1330 -- poss. culprit Intel wifi 3945

It looks like you've done all the work for us! That's some nice troubleshooting!

Well, if the wifi is bad - then it's either the driver or the hardware. So, let's start with the driver (it's free, and it's easier than messing with the wifi card).

Download Intel wireless driver from Intel ( http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx )
Uninstall the current Intel wireless driver from your Dell
Install the freshly downloaded driver and see if the BSOD's stop.

Running the dump files, will be right back.....

I have a 2 month old XPS15 purchased form the Dell Outlet Store in the UK. I usually have it permanently plugged in, but recently used it on battery power for the first time. I noticed that the battery wasn't charging, and the indicator light at the front blinks alternately white and orange (one white then one orange)
After a bit of investigation I found the BIOS Battery settings saying that the battery was not a genuine Dell battery and therefore wouldn't charge. I have not changed the battery - the machine is exactly as supplied by Dell.
It now pops up a warning about the battery whenever I power on.
I tried upgrading the BIOS (from 1.1.3) but every time I tried it would fail.
Is it now standard practice for Dell to supply laptops without genuine Dell batteries?

I have a XPS 15 (9560) and using it with a Dell P2715Q 4k monitor running through a d6000 dock.
Monitor is connected to the dock from mDP to DP and the dock via USB-C to the laptop.
The monitors performance didn't seem great and the images weren't very smooth. The issue is more when playing video or running AutoCAD 2018. When checking the video settings through AutoCAD it is always the on board graphics that is being used not the dedicated graphics. Even when I use the nVidia panel to force the program and global settings to the GTX1050 it doesn't seem to want to use it for the external display.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because as far as I was concerned the laptop shouldn't have an issue running the monitor at 4k 60Hz.

Yesterday I booted up my P72 and noticed that I had no WiFi.  Only the LAN icon appeared in the Task bar.  I opened the Network adapters and the wireless adapter was not there either.  It did show up in the Device Manager except with the yellow warning symbol.  I tried to reinstall the driver, but that didn't change any the status (or the lack thereof).  I contacted Lenovo Support and they told me I have to send my laptop into a Depot center. Fortunately, I have a dual boot so I checked my second boot and the wireless adapter was showing there.  So, I reset my network adapters and rebooted to my first boot and voila, my wireless was restored. Has anyone experienced this or is this just an isolated incident? Kind regards, tecknot

Anyone have Windows driver go south on this card, or an outright failure? Was just working and noticed the wifi dropped out. Device Manager said the card could not start (code 10). Or is my card wonky? Machine is less than a month old. It's been rock solid since I got it. TIA! -kj-

I don't know who designed this thing, but after fiddling with the drivers for 4 hours, those provided by dell, and others provided by Killer directly, both with and without the associated software installed, this thing still gives me 1/40th the internet speeds compared to my 4 year old laptop on the same router.
I guess I have no choice but to buy a 30 dollar intel 8265 and install it myself.
Given that some people have Killer cards that just work, I have to assume this is a massive QC issue.  Absolutely brutal performance.

Hello Every one, I just received my second Dell Xps 15 9560 after returning a previous model for various quality control issues, i.e. miss aligned finger print scanner, bloated battery, the screen not shutting properly, and one side of the screen being consistently dimmer than the other. With my second one, which I just received, now has the same issues with the finger print scanner being misaligned, but now with the power button also being misaligned both with a significant slope. My new one does shut properly without a gap in between the screen and the base of the chassis when closed, but now I have been experiencing the notorious coil whine... off the charger and solely on battery I have experienced coil whine along with being on power with the charger and this is just annoying. I have also been experiencing my screen blacking out randomly for a millisecond and then returning to normal. The fact that this is the second one I have received but still has the same problems if not more is just flat out outrageous. The fact that this is a $2000+ laptop the way mine is specked ( 32gb ram, 1tb ssd, 4k display) is not okay. There is obviously a problem with quality control which should not be present with such a laptop that is supposed to be for intensive use. Don't get me wrong this is a great product, but these small issues just take away from the experience immensely. If there is any way to get all this fixed it be great. Also is there any way to change my warranty to an at... Read more

A:New Dell Xps 15 9560 Issues!

Yes, you can purchase a warranty upgrade to onsite service, assuming your system is still in warranty.  You'll need to call Dell for the price on that (which will be higher than the cost of purchasing it with the system).

Got my new xps 15 xps for photo editing, and my quetion is how the *** can I enable that sweet touchscreen option in photoshop?? I NEED that!! Its one of the main reasons i bought this laptop! And are there any pens which enable working on the screen?

A:Dell XPS 15 9560 4K Touchscreen

Bear in mind that what you're looking for is a digitizing screen, such as on the Surface Pro and Thinkpad Yoga models -- what you have is a simple touchscreen - it's not designed for precise, pen-driven input to Photoshop.
The touchscreen will work as a touchscreen in all applications - it will not serve as a drawing pad.  That's not what this model is designed for.
There aren't many 15" systems with digitizing tablet panels (primarily because of the cost of such a screen).

Hi All,
Here is what happened
1) I bought a DELL XPS 15 9560 few days ago.
2) Today, the system prompted for some pending updates and restart, so, I went ahead and re-started it.
3) After reboot and installing updates, there is no network connection. The system says, there are no connections available. I checked the networking device, there are no errors and everything is fine.
4) I read online that there might be an incompatible driver which got installed as part of the update which is resulting in the networking (WiFi) driver to not work correctly.
5) So, I decided to reset the system to factory defaults.
6) Upon resetting the system to factory defaults, it is not booting at all. A blue screen comes windows (BSOD) and mentions on an error code: INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE.

After step 3 I did run diagnostics on the system and there was a failed test:How should I proceed to resolve this?

A:DELL XPS 15 9560 dead

Run the Dell diagnostics on the hard drive (or SSD) - it looks like the drive is bad.  If you see a failure code beginning with 2000-0142 or similar, the drive is bad.  It's up to you whether to accept a repair (replacement drive) or ask for a replacement system (which you can do for the first 30 days after the system ships).
To get to the diagnostics, F12 at powerup.

I purchased my Dell XPS 15 9560 (i7, 32GB RAM, 512GB Samsung 960 Evo) laptop two months ago and there is one thing that is really frustrating. The fans are nearly always on.
It is enough to open a few Chrome tabs and YouTube video and after a few minutes fans kick in at the low speed (2500rpm). CPU temperatures are around 42C-45C. The only option to turn them off is to open Dell Command Power Management and switch between profiles (any of them). Unfortunately after a few minutes fans kick in again :/ With power cord plugged in it happens even faster and it is not possible to turn the fans off even by changing profile in Dell Command Power Management. There is no difference between profiles.
I also run a test with one external monitor and connected Dell U2414H using Thunderbolt port and original Dell USB-C do DisplayPort adapter (470-ACFC). Fans started spinning in less than 3 seconds after I connected the cable. It was not possible to turn them off even switching profiles in Dell Command Power Management. When I unpluged the cable, after a few seconds I was able to turn off the fans by switching profiles (and fans were off until I started browsing).
I have read other users claim their Dell XPS 9560 are "dead silent", with fans running only under load (for example when gaming) and I feel confused.

Dear Forum Users,
In February, I received my first DELL XPS 15 (9560). The best laptop could have ever gotten.. so I started it up and done all the setup procedures. Many problems were experienced IMMEDIATELY!!!
1. Very Very laggy! Cannot use chrome or anything at ALL
2. Screen flickering with random colours making screen unviewable and unusable!
3. Extreme battery Drain - Battery drains super, super fast
4. Laptop legit OVERHEATING!! literally too hot to touch, esp on the top left corner where charging is and the bottom middle of the laptop (vents)
So contacted Dell, and after a few days they agreed to fully refund me the full cost, so I could get another laptop or a newer XPS 15 (w/ fingerprint reader). I then went ahead after weeks of negotiating and returning the laptop, got my money back.
I went ahead to buy another XPS 15 (9560), thinking the first laptop was due to a manufacturing error (cos you know, just came out).... The new laptop came in March - this time with all issues GONE, except 2 problems
1. Battery still drains fast
2. Laptop gets extremely hot at times, past 80 degrees celsius (too hot for the fingers). It feels like the laptop is melting.
SO that was my experience.... my question now is HOW DO WE FIX THE BATTERY DRAIN PROBLEM AND WHY IT GETS TOO HOT
Discussion or Solutions will be appreciated,
