No internet connection... Hijack This Log

Q: No internet connection... Hijack This Log

My DSL connection on my Dell Dimension 5100 with Windows XP had become very slow with frequent timing out. Finally, it got to the point when I had no internet connection at all. I restored my PC to an earlier restore point and it reconnected. The Hijack This log is quite long and I am unsure if there is anything listed that is causing the problems:

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

You've definitely been whacked. First, you didn't post the top part of your HJT log. Just make sure it's version 1.97.7, okay?

Go here and download CWShredder:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

After downloading, open the application and click Fix (not scan) and let it do it's thing.

Then go here and read the instructions for configuring and downloading AdAware:

http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?threadid=164245&

After installing AdAware, download current updates, then scan your system. Everything AdAware finds is safe to delete.

Then post a current HJT log and we'll see what's left over, okay?

A:Sooooo slow internet connection...Please HiJack THIS!!

Hi DaFOBulous1,

Your log is OK !
But I noticed you are using a RAM booster. This kind of tools may have an opposite effect as some of them are unloading some temporarily unused DLL's from memory. Each time you launch an application, the unloaded DLL's needed by the application are reloaded : it is growing the number of accesses on the hard drive; so, it leads to a lack of performance.
The better you can do is to add a stick of RAM instead of using booster.

My computer's internet access is EXTREMEMLY slow. I didn't recognize anything suspicious in the hijackthis log, but thought I needed some "expert" eyes. Anyway, I have three computers on my home network - two wireless and one wired. My main computer is a desktop (wireless connection) and when I reboot it takes it forever to connect to the wireless network. When I type in a website, it takes a long time for it to load, although it does eventually load. The connection speed ranges from 36-54 Mbs.

My notebook, also on a wireless connection, has a connection speed of 11Mbs and loads just fine. My other desktop (wired) is the same as it has always been and obviously is the fastest.

Hopefully, someone can help.

Hello

first of all you don't have the latest version of Hijack This.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

Next, after downloading the most recent version put it in its own folder somewhere easy to find. I have a folder on my desktop called security where all my antispyware tools are and there is a folder in it called hijack this where HT is installed.

Make sure you have the latest updates to your OS and your antivirus apps...doc

Ok, here's my problem. I have this intermittent problem with losing my internet connection. I randomly lose all internet connection after my computer is idle for a couple hours, or sometimes as little as 10 minutes. I notice it more, however, when I leave for work or to run errands, come back and my connection is lost. Other computers hooked into the same hub do not do this. I think it started happening after one of the following, either the install of Visual Basic .NET (which installs IIS, etc.) or the install of XP SP1. I am running windows XP, by the way. THose installs could also merely be a coincidence. But, things I do know about:

-whenever I run a search at yahoo, I get a zestyfind.com popup. These will not go away, and neither S&D spybot, or Ad-aware will get rid of it.

-I don't know how to fix this either: winlogon.exe has about 300 open ports at any given time. Most of them trying to connect to look2me.com, look2me0.com, look2me4.com, etc. I do not have the winlogon.exe virus (I can't find msg117, msg118, msguard.dll, etc files) Again, no virus or adaware program can find this...

Can anyone help?

Thanks

hi i was just wondering if anyone could help me out.
I have had a problem for about a week now where if I use any search engine such a google or yahoo and click on a click it will redirect me to another earch engine or another page where i didnt want to go.

I have done some of my own research into this and there seems to be alot of people which has had an encounter with the GOOGLE REDIRECT VIRUS...I have tried to follow instructions of people who have tried to solve the problem but nothing seems to work. I use AVG and have run several virus scans but no threats are found.

Another problem I am having just recently is that I am able to pick up wireless networks and connect to them but am unable to actually connect to the internet. I thought it was a problem with just one wireless network so I tried connecting to a different one but the same thing happens. It will say that I have local only connectivity but will not connect to any websites.

I noticed that there were alot of tlak about HiJack This so I have downloaded the program and saved a log file which reads as follows.....

They did buy CA internet security but it would not install.I installed and updated Spybot and was able to get rid of 18 problems which consisted of malware and trojans. I ran this 3 times and it finally came up clean. Internet will work when you first reboot the PC and then it will stop working after a few minutes and internet explorer will not work and a "diagnose" button appears. When you click it windows will try to diagnose the problem but it comes up with nothing. I went to the command prompt and pinged google.com. All times but once it worked fine. It is currently pinging fine at this moment.I did get CA internet security installed and updated but it so far has detected nothing.I then rebooted using a Ubuntu Linux boot disk and the internet worked fine throughout the whole day which tells me the hardware is not an issue.I appreciate any help. I work on a Windows XP hp media center pc. I've noticed that pop ups come when they want to. If I walk away from my computer and come back, a thousand are always waiting for me (unless I logout). But .. I didn't know where to start and any advice I got that I checked out a lot led me to believe it'd be okay. I'd just deal with the pop ups.

All was fine until it started to mess with my internet connection. I keep getting kicked after 10 minutes or so .. it seems to have stopped for now. I ran Ad-Aware SE .. used the free online scan at SpywareGuide...

My internet provider suggested these to me when I called them repeatedly all day long. First we couldn't connect and our modem had to be replaced. Now it connects and we lose it not long after and have to stop the power to our modem and disconnect the router .. plug the modem back in and then the router so it'll work.

I'd be fine leaving it like that (however annoying) if certain things just don't work when they're constantly being broken into, halted. (Final Fantasy online)

Please help me out ... When I used the free scan at SpyGuide, it would freeze on KaZaa...so I searched out all things KaZaa (which I thought I'd deleted but apparently my sister reinstalled before I chewed her out and she stopped it) I found 26 GB of porn on my computer and song titles all made on July 7th at 11pm 2005. I have a Windows 2000 Pro system that has a quirky thing going on with it. I have had to use Clam AV (AVG won't run on this) to scan for viruses, and it did find a lot of worms though I'm not completely confidant it was able to remove everything.

The computer can access the Internet with no problems if you boot into Safe Mode With Networking, but under a normal boot, it will lose connectivity to the Internet very shortly after logging it. I tested this using "ping google.com -t" to do an endless ping and the connection would go from replies with no problem to "Host not resolved" (I think that's what it says). This seems to be related to something with DNS, I think. Because I can connect the PC to another laptop via a crossover cable, assign static IP's to each, and they will ping each other. But once the connection is cut off, it won't ping the router or anything on the Internet.

I downloaded Hijack This via safe mode, restarted, and ran two scans. The first scan was done while the Internet connection was still working and google's pings were coming back okay.

The second scan was done about a minute later, very shortly after internet connectivity was acting foul. I've attached both log files to this post, so hopefully someone might be able to tell me what to try to get this working right.

Thanks!

A:Re: Post-Google Search Hijack Loss of Internet Connection

Do you have your Vista Installation CD

Have you tried restoring your computer to before a time when you lost the internet?

Try that as the first step

there is a tutorial for restoring Vista from the recovery environment here:

Using System Restore from the Vista Windows Recovery Environment

even if that restores an infection, we can deal with that, hopefully it will restore the internet connection.

If it does not, this may be very difficult to repair as I am not sure exactly what you may have deleted, but I will try:

Please run ComboFix, it will run from a USB stick, so download to a USB > transfer to the computer without the connection and run it > make certain all your security programs are disabled

let me know if that restores your connection.

If not, then please run the following:

Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run itMake sure the following options are checked:Internet Services
Windows Firewall
System Restore
Security Center
Windows Update
Windows Defender

Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

I've been copy/paste some individual sections of articles for a composite article to save to file. (windows xp) I have one firefox browser window open, the wordpad document open and minimized to the bottom toolbar. when I try and open a another browser window (firefox) while wordpad is either open or minimized to the toolbar, I get a connection warning: application: firefox.exe, C\program files\windowsNT\accessories\wordpad.exe has tried to use firefox.exe thru OLE automation to connect to the internet. the remote IP listed is 209.123.109.175 which is listed as the Net Access Corporation, (NAC) in Parsippany NJ. Is this malware that has hijacked wordpad OLE automation or something else? when I deny, I get no connection to the internet, and can't connect anywhere from the original opened window to any site as well. when I go ahead and save wordpad to file, so wordpad is not opened or minimized on the bottom toolbar, everything is fine, and I can open as many browser windows as possible and connect to anywhere needed. How should I go about tracing this down to see why wordpad is trying to connect to the Net Access Corporation? btw, this doesn't happen with notepad opened, only wordpad. thx

Hi Guys, I'm really hoping you can help me with this. I usually quite enjoy the challenge of getting rid of spyware/viruses etc myself., but this one has really left me up a tree.

Roughly a week ago, my wife and I both noticed that whenever we tried a Google search, we were getting re-directed to what, to all extents and purposes, looked exactly like e-Bay's home page. The re-directs then became ever more random, and it would take at least 3 tries before eventually getting to the location we'd searched for. I searched for, and found, many references to 'Google Search Hijack'; and went to bed that night, planning to tackle the issue - using the suggested solutions - after work the next day; fat chance! On booting up my PC, I was disturbed to see a yellow triangle over my Network Connections icon. I tried all that I knew to bridge the connection, but it's been downhill from then.

Luckily, I have this old XP laptop that connects, wirelessly, to my router; so am able to still search out a solution. I don't care how long, or convoluted the journey may turn out; I just really could do with some assistance! I have acquired various recommended anti-malware/spyware/virus applications, and have them at hand should need arise. I'm kind of a middle-ability user, who's not afraid of jumping into the registry, or running system commands etc.

My current situation is that I am unable to start my DHCP client, and my Network connection is hanging at 'identifying'. When I attempt to start... Read more

Hello,
I was looking for some assistance with my home PC. My computer started acting buggy last week. First it started when Internet Explorer would not open. I also notice that my VPN connection that I use for work had been somehow disabled or corrupted. I tried running Windows Defender and my anti-virus McAfee AT&T Internet suite to diagnose if there was some type of virus on my desktop, but both programs freeze in mid scan. Lastly, I tried a system restore to a point 2 weeks back with a slight hope it might help, but no luck.

I also noticed that my wireless connection only shows packets being received, but nothing being sent. I only noticed this because I tried to update the virus definition file for McAfee, and nothing was happening. I disabled the wireless connection on the desktop, and thus I can't download anything directly to the desktop, I have to use a memory stick to transfer any data from the desktop.

Also, I tried running programs like iTunes or Windows Media Player, and both progams never run. I tried doing an add/remove program, to remove iTunes, and add/remove programs does not work.

My desktop is a Dell Dimensino E521, running Windows XP Home Edition. Pasted below is the most recent DDS log, and attached are the DDS-Attach & GMER zip as requested. Any help is greatly appreciated...my wedding is in 1 week and I'm needing badly to jump on the PC and burn some music. :(

Hi, thanks in advance for your help. I recently switched to using my cable company (MediaCom) for my ISP (about a month ago) and made the mistake of installing their software and believe that they have hijacked IE. Normally this wouldn't be a problem because I use FF, but I think that this is blocking access to the iTunes Music Store. I did take all of the necessary steps before scanning and posting the following log. Thanks again!

Hi, I'm writing on the behalf of my brother, who's (desktop) PC is in the room as I write this on my laptop. We usually share our internet connection (I am still using it), but he is no longer able to connect.

In the past, he has gotten a "A network cable has been unplugged" message several times in seemingly random intervals, restarting his PC would usually fix this.

However yesterday he got a message: "This connection has limited or no connectivity" and his game (AlienSwarm at the time (through steam)) stalled out and he decided to restart the PC yet again, only this time after the reboot, he not only wasn't reconnected to the internet, he also couldn't find the Local Area Connection icon(s) in his Network Connections window, the only thing there is a "1394 Connection" which we have no clue about.

I'm gonna add my skype here if any helpful people need more info on this :P Feel free to add jaan.stern

Also I put this in the XP forum, because I wouldn't know which Network support subforum to use!
Thanks!

OK. I'm trying to switch from wireless to a faster(?) ethernet cable based internet access.
I use a Dell Optiplex 755, 32 bit OS, Windows 7. I'm the utilizing Comcast high speed internet supplier, a LinkSys E4200 wireless router, a LinkSys WUMC710 (wireless-ac universal media connector; with promises faster connections/speeds) with ethernet cable OUT to the ONLY ethernet port/card supplied [Network Connector (RJ-45)] on the rear of the small form factor tower. when I run the PC with USB wireless (Linksys AE2500) it works fine, but, I hope for an improvement with the LinkSys WUMC710 inserted in the chain.
the Network Adapter (found in Device Manager) is the Intel(R) 82566DM-2 Gigabit Network Connection. This DOES NOT work with the ethernet cable connection (error 651, WAN Miniport problem). even when I uninstall this driver, it reinstalls upon Windows 7 restart, which is contrary to some of the suggested fix posts I've found in on-line forums dealing with these types of issues.

I'm thinking it may be a missing driver for the ethernet port/Network Connector (RJ-45), but, I am neither a hardware, nor IT tech. therefor I have no idea what driver I would SPECIFCICALLY require ofr this port(?), nor can I discern the particular ethernet card that came factory installed on this machine. I have consulted the Dell site and, lo & behold, they don't endorse using Windows 7 on the Optiplex 755, so the only driver updates/downloads are listed for endorsed OS's XP & Vista. so n... Well I've fiddled around and searched to no avail ...

I have some form of conflict between my main wireless network and a LAN I use for file
transfer and streaming.

The attached PDF file illustrates the setup. Basically, the wireless network is fine by
itself. Music streams from the Asus EeePC to the various Squeezeboxes and internet
connectivity is enabled on all PCs and the iPad.

The LAN works well by itself, allowing me to use FreeFileSync to quickly and relaible
transfer / backup music between the Acer dekstop and Asus netbook server PCs, and to
stream music from the Asus EeePC (which is the music server running Logitech Media
Server) to the Squeezebox 2.

However, the two networks can't co-exist without the Acer and/or Asus losing internet
connectivity when their respective LAN connections are made to the Buffalo router they
share with the Squeezebox 2.

The notification area shows:-

Currently connected to:

BuffaloLocalNet
No internet access

SqueezeNet
Internet access

Wireless Network Connection:

SqueezeNet Connected

DD-WRT

I have attached the ipconfig /all output in the out.txt file and diagram of the network in Network.pdf.

I suspect this is a simple clash of parameters somewhere, or incompatible IP addresses but I'm not good enough to resolve it.

Thanks.

I am seeking advice here to solve a problem with internet connection on my laptop.
The laptop (Thinkpad X61 running 32 bit Vista) seems to be ok to connect to my router, which is connected to a cable modem. Internet is also connected on the base level (more details below). However Internet Explorer (or firefox, opera) cannot find any web page, and Mozilla Thunderbird email program cannot connect to email server.
I am decently ok with computers, so I have run some checks myself. This is not a problem of router or cable modem, as my other computers can access internet through the same router and modem. Also, the laptop gets an IP address from the router and can connect to shared resources on other computers within the same network.
The laptop also finds outside addresses and get a response when I run ping command, e.g. ping www.google.com or ping www.yahoo.com, suggesting that the connection to DNS server is fine at the base level.
I was suspecting that windows firewall, my Symantec antivirus or VPN is creating the problem. But the problem persists after I disabled firewall and the antivirus software and deleted VPN connection.
One important thing to mention is that this problem starts when after a software install, which I removed afterwards. I tried to run netsh reset by "netsh winsock reset catalog", "netsh int ipv4 reset myreset.log" and "netsh int ipv6 reset myreset.log" and restart. Still does not work.

Hi,
I have windows 7 Pro installed. I have a DSL connection that requires a username and password. I have read the tutorials for setting up ICS in windows 7, but it is not working for me. In my 'change adapter settings' page, I have 3 connections: LAN, Wireless and M 1 (this is the dial-up for the username and password). Here's what I have done:

I have enabled ICS for M 1, and created an ad-hoc wireless connection called 'M network'. I basically want to share my wired connection with my iPhone. Everything is ok as far as connecting my iPhone to M network, but when I try to use the internet, all i get is a 'connecting' message on my phone, and it doesnt go any further. I have used this network before to connect 'air mouse' on my phone that lets me use my phone as a touchpad. It still works fine that way, but I cant use internet.

I have even tried enabling the ICS on LAN instead, but got the same results.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi there, im new to the forums and i've got a problem that's been a real pain for me lately.
I've got a wireless connection in my house going through a Linksys WRT54GC router and also a wired connection with Cisco gateway (only 1 laptop uses it). About 1 month ago some strange things began to happen with the wireless connection, my PC seems not to be able to connect unless I reinstall the protocols and it's really annoying to do that every time I run my PC. Also, the wired connection stopped working (probably because of cable being broken) but it requires a router restart 90% of the time when I want to connect the laptop (that used to connect through cable) to the wireless network. The 2nd laptop has an issue mentioned in the title, the LAN works but it can't connect to the Internet through the router. Ipconfig /all shows that DHCP isn't working, there's no default gateway and DNS seems to be wrong. Could that all be related to router not being updated for a long time? I tried reinstalling drivers, unistalling and installing back network card and doing most of the things mentioned in similar threads but nothing seems to work. I know it all looks very silly but I can't do anything about it, at least now - I don't have access to any router settings and can't update it.
Every bit of help is appreciated. I can paste all the information needed from all computers.

Hi,

Hoping someone can help.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows XP with a wireless connection to a broadband router.

Several weeks ago my laptop started dropping the internet connection randomly (I'm alos unabel to access email when this happens).

My wireless network icon in my toolbar shows the connection as 'Excellent' but for some reason both Internet and Email is not available. The only way to fix the problem has been to restart my laptop which is very frustrating.

I've noticed that this also happens randomly when I'm at home (using different wireless broadband modem) so I think the issue is my laptop not the 2 x routers/modems.

I'm running NOD32 for security as well (but have been for 4 years now with no problems till now).

Please help.

The title explains it pretty much...

But I have a Belkin N router, in the room above I have a desktop with a Belkin N stick.

I also have a 100mbps connection

The Windows Network and sharing centre says I have a 150.00 Mbps connection, signal stregnth low, status connected.

Any reason why the signal is low?

My download speed is very slow all of the time.
Any advice appreciated thanks

Hello everyone,
I have an internet connection problem and was wondering if anyone here can help.
I cannot connect to the internet even though all the green lights on the modem are solid and steady. I have a laptop connects (ethernet cable) to the modem (which connect to the ISP). I ask my ISP support to verify my IP address and my modem mac address and they check out good. (I have an XP OS, IE, firefox, and opera web browsers, and a cable modem connection to the ISP - all three browsers cannot connect to the internet.) I can ping the yahoo and google websites and my loopback address, but cannot access these websites via my browsers. I look in the TCP/IP protocol properties and they're all set to automatically obtain the address. I also tried to manually configure the ip address, the sub mask, the dns servers, and the default gateway (first in the general tab, then in the alternate configuration tab) to the ones I found the network connections detail. I tried the ping, ipconfig, and netstat commands to try figuring out the problem but no luck.
Has anyone comes across this problem?

Any help and advices are much appreciated.
Thx in advance.

Dear all,
I generally have good WiFI connection, but in two rooms so I am running a TP-Link system for Wifi through my powernet, which provides me with WiFI in our working space. No problems here.
I have been noticing that on my laptop, when I sit in the living space, my internet connection is dropping WITHOUT losing connection to the WiFi network. This makes me reset my adapter but mostly without succes. Sometimes it spontaneously regains internet connectivity. This happens at random (to me). My cell phone doesn't have the same problem, nor does my GF's computer.
I notice that when i go back to the workspace (where wifi is distributed through my TP-link), more often then not I instantly regain connection. Which makes me think this is a problem of IP adress that is different when switching from Wifi through router and Wifi through TP-link?

Here is the runout for my ipconfig /all and
Output for 'netsh wlan show all'

Robin

Hi everyone,

I work in an office where we have a main desktop computer which is connected to the internet via a Time Warner modem. The modem is connected by cable to a netgear wireless router, and up until today there have been no problems connecting to the internet from the laptops that use the wireless connection.

Today, for no reason, with no changes, upgrades, or anything different at all, I am now getting the message that my laptop sees the wireless network, but claims the network has no internet access (not true; I am able to connect to the internet from the desktop, which is where I'm typing from). So we have internet coming into the office and the desktop, but suddenly the router isn't broadcasting the wireless signal any more.

I ran windows network diagnostics several times and I've gotten different responses, one said "wireless connection doesn't have valid IP configuration", another said "the default gateway is not available", and "tourbleshooting couldn't identify the problem". !!

I'm reasonably computer savvy and I can follow instructions, so does anyone have any ideas where I should start? Many thanks!

Caroline

The first thing to try is to power everything off, Cable mode, router and computers. Then power them on again in sequence. Cable modem, router then computer. Let each device settle down before going on to the next.
