Get list of installed program exactly as in Control panel

Q: Get list of installed program exactly as in Control panel

We have Windows 7 x64 SP1 in around 200 systems.
We need to get list of installed software from each system exactly same as in Control Panel
Till now :
1 .We have tried using registry HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
but it couldn?t list all softwares as in control panel and total count of software differs as in control panel and registry.
2. Tried using wmi query using power shell command
get-wmiobject
-class ?Win32_Product? -computer
$computer
But it is not recommend to run this command on productionas per
link
http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2011/11/13/use-powershell-to-quickly-find-installed-software.aspx

So, How can we achieve this to get exactly same list as in control panel
Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello email, welcome to Sevenforums!

There are few programs that do not appear in control panel. It would greatly help if you let us know what program that isn't showing.

It may not detect it either, but you can try Revo Uninstaller: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Can you look through your programs and find it, perhaps it has an uninstaller tool that came with it?

Ccleaner (I do not recommend the use of this program's registry cleaner) also has an uninstaller tool.

Ok, so I noticed that for a while I haven't been here my microsoft sounds when I boot up and shut down my machine. At first I thought that I didn't have the sound files but that wasn't it.

I went into control panel, sound and audio devices and click on the sound tab. Under the program events list, I notice that many of the program events were missing such as windows start up and windows shut down. This is why I wasn't hearing any sounds when I would shut down and start my computer.

My question is, how do you get those items back on the program event list?

I use windows XP home edition computer.

Any help or suggestions? The thing is the a lot of the items in the program list are missing. So lets say I wanted to change the sound that I hear when I turn my machine on, I would go under windows and highlight windows start. But on my program list, it is not there. Hence I have no sound when my computer goes on. It is a stupid thing I realize that but I am curious how the items were lost and wondering if I can get them back. But hey, my computer is 6 years old and still runs great. I should just be happy with that.

A:Missing items on Program list in Control Panel Sounds

i have the identical problem. i have discovered that if i create a new user account, all the program events are available. if i try the run command for sfc / scannow it asks me insert the windows xp install cd but won't recognize it when i do. I don,t think there is anything short of doing an xp repair that will solve my problem. if you come up with something let me know.

Thanks, Jeff

Louis,This issue may occur if the Outlook registry key is corrupted. When other programs try to use the Outlook Simple MAPI interface, they cannot retrieve the required information from the registry. You must first remove the corrupted Outlook registry key, and then perform a Detect and Repair operation to have Outlook rebuild the key. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then press ENTER.
In Registry Editor, locate the following subkey in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook
Select the subkey, and then press DELETE.
Click Yes.
Quit Registry Editor.
Start Outlook.
On the Help menu, click Office Diagnostics.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the repair.

Important: Above section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. Hello,

I had installed Yahoo messenger a few days ago. I had went into Control Panel shortly after the installation and uninstalled Yahoo Toolbar, which I didn't want. I then decided that I didn't want messenger installed either so went back into Control Panel only to find that it was not listed there. I also noticed that most programs normally found listed in there, such as MSN messenger, NHL07 & Spysweeper just to name a few, are also no longer in Control Panel yet each program works just fine. There are only very few items still remaining in there. And again this happened immediately after uninstalling Yahoo Toolbar. My question is how did this happen, and how can i get Control Panel to list these installed programs again?

Thank you,
Kevin

Yep, it's normal. If the uninstaller file from that program did not include this information, then it will not be displayed. It was the same in Vista as well. Have to blame the program publisher for this one.

Hello all.
Today I installed Windows XP SP2 on my father's Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop. When it finished installing and loaded up again, I could not access the control panel, internet explorer, Windows update, or My Computer. If I tried to do so, it would only show the desktop, and then appear to restart explorer, as the "Your computer is not secure" bubble would appear. I could access the internet through firefox, but whenever I would attempt to download something it would crash. Also, when I tried to install AVG antivirus, it got to about 80% and errored. Assuming that it would help, I went ahead and installed SP3 as well, however the issue is still there.
Also, I have tried to fix it in safe mode, but likewise I cannot access the features above. I do not think it is malware, because before I installed the service packs it worked fine. Also, this computer is about 5 years old, and I don't have the operating system CD anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Installed XP SP2, cannot open control panel, internet explorer, etc.

I'm wondering if you didn't install SP2 (or SP3, I'm confused on this...) while the machine was infected.

Try running System Restore and go back to a day prior to doing any of these installs.

Did you have any odd symptoms prior to installing SP2 or 3 ?

It's a bit late to be doing either of these. What prompted you to do it? Was the machine having problems before ?

Laptop computer with Windows 10 has an item in Control Panel for Flash Player.  Opening this item, display of Flash Player Settings Manager occurs, and upon clicking the Update tab, the dialog screen is dim, and at the bottom,  two items are shown:  NPAPI Pluggin Version, and PPAPI Pluggin Version.  Next to each of these is the comment, "Not Installed".

This seems strange.  I wonder if it is or not normal.  IF no flash player is installed, then WHY is Flash Player (32-bit)  shown listed as an item in Control Panel?  Also, any reason why the listed form for ActiveX for Internet Explorer is not listed in this Flash Player Settings Manager update tab along with the neither installled other pluggins?

Whatever the case, I do not yet miss having Flash Player on this computer.  I have played several YouTube videos, so YouTube has likely only given me the html-5 kind of videos, so no flash player needed there  (at least not yet, past 2 months).

Unfortunately, last time this happened my husband did it for me and it worked (until late in the night) and forgot to tell me about it. The very next morning I started deleting everything as I thought it was the non-functioning program. Now he refuses to help me, and I can't blame him but I can't do it on my own. I'm on a friends computer and while getting rid of some unwanted software and spyware I noticed there is something in the Add or Remove Program list that's very bizzare. The list has 4 programs starting with the letter A. If I click below that, the area below it Highlights. I scroll down what seems to be about 8 feet (8 pages worth) of highlighted area then the list of programs continues. If I click sort by date, the area changes so it has nothing to do with the last A program.

I'm guessing this is some sort of malware, but have no clue how to find out what it is, and there is no button in the area to uninstall it. It doesn't load as everything in HijackThis is normal, and there is nothing in the process tree that is abnormal.

Any ideas what it may be or how to get rid of it ?

TIA

HEY EVERYONE

I HAVE DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED A GAME 'COMBAT ARMS' WOKS GREAT, HOWEVER I AM UNABLE TO UNINSTALL IT, AS IT IS NOT LOCATED IN THE CONTROL PANEL TO UNINSTALL AND THE UNINSTALLER IS NOT IN THE COMBAT ARMS FOLDER IN THE C DRIVE. I HAVE DOWNLOADED 'MYUNINSTALLER' AND STILL THE PROGRAM IS NOT THERE TO UNINSTALL.

SO I HAVE INSTALLED THE PROGRAM AGAIN FROM THE SAME SETUP FILE AND INSATLLED IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE FIRST TIME I INSTALLED THE PROGRAM AND THIS TIME I AM ABLE TO UNINSTALL IT AS IT IS LOCATED IN THE CONTROL PANEL. I THEN UNINSTALLED THE PROGRAM AND RESTARTED THE COMPUTER AND RAN CCLEANER. NOW IT SEEMS TO BE UNINSTALLED. NO TRACES LETOTHER THEN AN EMPTY FOLDER IN THE C DRIVE.

MY INQUIRY IS:
1. WHY WASN'T I ABLE TO UNINSTALL IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
2. IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS AGAIN OCCURS WHAT SHOULD I DO?
3. THE APPROACH I HAVE TAKEN BY INSTALLING THE SAME PROGRAM AGAIN WITHOUT UNINSTALLING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, IS THIS A CORRECT THING TO DO?
DOES THIS ANY HAVE REPERCUSSIONS ON THE COMPUTER?
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I MUST DO? OR IS EVERYTHING FINE?

THESE QUESTIONS ARE FOR ME TO LEARN FROM AND KEEPING MY COMPUTER IN TOP PERFORMANCE, AS I DON'T WHAT SIGNIFICANT TRACES OF THIS GAME LURKING AROUND, SLOWING MY COMPUTER DOWN.

CHEERS

Looks like you hit the nail on the head: If a program is missing an uninstall protocol the best thing to do is try reinstalling it. You got "lucky" (although in my experience, there is no such thing as luck ). And CCleaner is a good one for removing little traces left in the Registry.

I have zero idea why there was no uninstall in the first place. Welcome to the world of computers.

If it happens again and the reinstall trick doesn't work, I'd just go ahead and remove the program files and run CCleaner. The registry cleaner should be able to identify which items still have valid references to the program files.

I'm unable to remove Dealio Toolbar 4.4 from Control Panel Programs...
The tool bar is removed and after going into registry under system folders the Dealio was deleted.
Please advise as to why it can not be removed from Control Panel programs and
instructions please. I also ran the Malware program and it came out clear.

Thanks.

Hi:

I have an older program and can no longer find the original disc or else I'd reinstall and uninstall... when I try to uninstall it gives an error. Is there any way I can clean it out or am I stuck with it forever?

I've tried CCleaner too, same thing.

Thanks

Hello,
I've got a list of programs here that are installed on my computer, and I don't know what a lot of them are. I tried looking them all up on Google, but I got little info out of that. I'm hoping someone here can help me out and just list out everything that's not a driver, required for windows, or is some kind of usability thing like java or flash. I will uninstall anything on that list that I'm not using.

When installing applications they appear to install correctly. An icon is created on the desktop and I can access the program.

In control panel under programs and features... the application is not showing up. I cannot uninstall the programs, because they aren't showing in programs and features to uninstall.

Yes, workarounds can be used to delete the program, but there is something wrong. The programs are not installing properly.

I ran sfc/ scannow as admin no problems indicated
After a couple hours messing with this:

Thought I should add this... When I right click on the installer/setup exe file and select to run as administrator the installer works and does show up in programs and features... Also, I can delete the program as well from programs and features.

I have never had to do this before even though I am admin...(in name mostly) unless I am willing to allow more vulnerability to my system by turning on all the time. Still having to run as admin does seem a bit much for installing programs. The worst part...the installer will run, installs the program, yet leaves off the ability to uninstall or change in the programs and features page of control panel

Have a look at this MS website & see if there is anything there to help you. There are some links you can follow & there is a "fixit" there as well in one of those links.
Injudicious & over use of registry cleaners is one of the causes.

I am running W2K w/SP2 and just noticed that the Add/Remove wizard that runs from the control panel says that no programs are installed. There are a number of products installed and all appear to be working correctly from the program menu and shortcuts. Why would the Add/Remove process think there aren't any programs installed? How do you correct this? Some products don't have "Uninstall" options and you must use the ADD/Remove program icon to do the install.

I have a program stuck on my taskbar that sometimes causes my web browser to crash(seems to be doing it more often now) called Search Protect. I want to uninstall it but it doesn't show up under the control panel or even in Revo Uninstaller. Virus scans don't pick it up either. How can I remove this? (Preferably without having to download anything else)

I killed it from the taskbar using Revo Unistaller Hunter Mode. It remains to be seen if it did any good.
