I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The computer wont start.   After pressing "ON" one can hear a vibration sound, it turns on an orange LED.   Stays black for two  minutes; then screen does light to a dim night-blue color.     This is for a Split x2 13-g110dx (windows 10 64bit). Already tried:  hard reset and going to BIOS (Windows button + "B"). Also tried booting from  a USB drive.   It did not work (see screen below). Any suggestion(s) of how it can still be revived ("do it myself")? Thank you.                                       Screen message

Hello, i have a really annoying problem: Everytime i start my laptop, it wont boot up. The capslock button is blinking twice so i guess the bios is damaged. First i checked if there is a update for my bios on you driver/software download page but there isnt. So afterward i tried to recover and reinstall my bios but i cant even enter the bios update menu.In the bios recovery manual http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 it says:With the computer off, press and hold the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time.Still pressing those keys, press and hold down the Power button on the computer for 1 to 2 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows and B keys until the BIOS update screen is displayed or until you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps). But this isnt working. It only blinks twice continiously but wont boot. Can anyone help me? I cant find further information regarding this issue. I start to get really really annoyed by the problem because sometimes it takes up to 15-20 times to get the laptop running. Best Regards

The x200 Tablet iso bios update is not really findable on your website when searching for it with the search engine. I have spend over 1 hour searching for it. Normally you can find it much more easy. For x220 and x230 its easy to find. Agreed, it would be useful if the Support search included a link to older model (EOL) support that it doesn't find directly.  I wouldn't call it an error, but it's not a very convenient or informative design

This isn't specific to the X200x models.  Legacy/older models are on the EOL site (if they aren't showing up in Support search):

Hello to the BleepingComputer community,First of all I'm sorry I haven't finished some of the steps from the Preparation Guide. It's because these steps require a reboot (e.g. Step 6: Disable your CD Emulation Software - DeFogger will ask me to reboot the machine), and I have a bad feeling about the question if it is safe to reboot in my situation: I'm not sure if I have a type of malware which is ready to infect the BIOS - if it is so, then it could infect it much easier during the reboot process.- If there is a good way to find out what is the problem (and fix the BIOS threat part if it really is present) without rebooting / shutting down this PC, or at least without booting from this hard drive (which I feel is probably infected), then please tell me what should I do.- If you know a place / forum where I can get a specialized help for this (seemingly BIOS-malware related) situation, please tell me where I could go.- If there is no way to move forward, I'll go ahead and risk the reboot, and follow the other steps (steps 6 to 10) in the Preparation Guide, no problem.I kindly ask you to please read below the details of the problem as it occured to me, and the things I have tried so far.The PC is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core BE-2350 2.1GHz, Motherboard Biostar TA690G AM2 (with AWARD BIOS), 4GB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, and an ASUS EAH4870 card added a few years ago. It's with WinXP SP3, AVG Free 2012, (standard) Windows Firewall, and it's behind a router.I ... My Samsung series 3 laptop has been sending out popup messages telling me I need a bios update, I go to the Samsung software update site and this bios update has been failing, I have made several calls and chats to techs at Samsung who tell me to do what I have already done, they tell to ask for tier 2 tech, who can go in my computer and fix it , When I finally got a tier 2 tech, they told me the same thing, I told him what I had been told about him and what he could do, He said, is it working , I said yes, but settings on computer change on their own, like wifi turns itself on and that concerns me. Anyway, He said that it didn't need a bios update, even the Samsung website said this computer needed a bios update. I posted this on hardware, firmware concerns, and they told me to post here, I was going to go to a site ,that had a download that checked drivers, I was told to stay away from this.

Thanks,

I know a BIOS update on my Latitude with Windows 8 and Bitlocker activated on the O/S drive triggers Bit locker recovery on startup. I don't have the recovery key and so am stuck. How to recover without the Bit Locker recovery key?

A:BIOS update without suspending Bitlocker has triggered a recovery and on start up I am prompted for the recovery key

The solution I found was to install the previous version of the BIOS, but without being able to boot into Windows, I needed to install the previous version of the BIOS in DOS. Some server products provide a F12 boot up menu option to roll back a BIOS update, but this is not available in my Latitude.

I downloaded the correct BIOS version (the additional info section made specific reference to it being installable from Windows or DOS). I prepared a bootable USB key (to a dos prompt) and copied the bios installer executable to the memory stick.

Because secure boot (UEFI) is enabled, it is not possible to boot up from USB key, so legacy boot mode needs to be enabled. There were 3 settings that required changing in the BIOS before I was able to boot from the USB key.

Once I was able to boot into DOS from the USB key and got to the DOS prompt, I ran the BIOS update exe. The laptop rebooted, installed the previous BIOS version and then rebooted again. I pressed F2 to get into the BIOS and changed back the settings as they were (secure boot UEFI). I then managed to boot into windows without being prompted for the Bit locker recovery key.

You able to export or view the Bitlocker recovery key by going to Control Panel -> Security -> Bit locker Management, and temporarily suspend protection (until the next reboot). It is possible to run a commandlet to specify the number of reboots bit locker should be suspended for.

You may find that installing the previous version of the ... Read more

While I was working on an issue with the Intel HD Graphics 530 and it's strange behaviors, I checked the website for drivers for my registered system and discovered a bios update that was released in May which is not showing up in Optimizer.
Why is it not there but on the site? Also the version numbers make no sense. The newer one is Version 1.05.00, 1.05.00 released May 2016 and the older one is Version A07, A07 released March 2016.

I'm seeking help with a bios recovery issue and hope that you can help me.
My system is a Dell Dimension XPS-T500 and a while back ago I flashed my Dell bios with Intel's bios, which was a success. I now need to re-flash back to Dell's bios, because of upgrade issues and I have been unable to do so. The Dell bios is in executable format and the Intel bios is not allowing the Dell bios to overwrite it for some reason. I was informed by a friend that I need the Dell bios in a raw form instead of the executable format in-order for it to work. I have contacted Dell, but they have been unable to help me. Can you help me? There's got to be a way to flash back to Dell's bios, but I'm just not smart enough to figure it out. Is their a solution to my problem? Does anyone know of a extraction utility that someone with the same computer model as mine can use to extract the bios and send it to me in it's binary form?

Thanks!

I don't think that OKR affects bios in any way. AFAIK, many people experienced the same problem as you, so I think that solution exists. As I remember, this problem was reported at this forum for many times, so you can try to find older topics.Actually, there's one thing I can't understand: bios v71 has been reported as buggy by many users for nearly a year, so why it still exists at the download page?

Hello, you're really limited as to what your options are here. You can try calling HP and see if they can walk you through doing a crisis recovery sort of thing. It will entail a key combination that will enable the Boot Block portion of the BIOS chip (if it has one)

I went through this last month with my DV9000 model. I searched the web for a few weeks looking for some kind of solution. I ended up sending it to aqstech a repair shop in NY for a BIOS rescue service.

PS, the repair cost me $99 + shipping.

When I ran the bios update utillity, my computer locked up. none of the buttons would work, nor the keyboard. Everything was unresponsive, and not like a normal software hang either. So, I waited for a half hour to see what would happen, and nothing happend. I eventually removed the battery to turn off the computer and restart. Only problem is, my computer won't restart. As a matter of fact it doesn't do anything. No lights, no sounds, not even a battery charger light. I went to acer site and found some instructions to fix my netbook, which said to unplug power cord and remove battery then hold power for 30 sec, but still not working.

Please help!!!!

Do the cmos reset again (unplug, remove battery, hold power button) sometimes it takes several attempts

Just got this laptop, and its having issues. Under the battery it says its a 1167dx, but bios/system info states its a G6 1028sr. It has the AMD 1.8 quad core like the G7 should as well as the radeon HD-4200. Only found the issue chasing down a black screen issue. Sometimes it will just flip to a black screeen, and freeze. Resulting in having to be powered down. Fresh install of windows has not fixed the issue. Went directly to AMD for graphics drivers and control catylst. Did a bios update to the latest version provided on the 1167dx support site, and it still has the wrong information as well as black screening when playing video. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
