**bleep** cat! (no joke....)

Q: **bleep** cat! (no joke....)

This is a Lenovo t520 with Windows 10 intalled...My cat keeps jumping on my key board and she has a few "tricks" that are very frustating. All deal with the screen dispaly. The first issue is she changes the RESOLUTION to 900x.... However, when she does it, there is NOT "keep these settings". So it stays...How the HECK does she do this! It ME to right click on desktop, go to graphcs prop... then change BACK to 1900. The other she recently "learned" is she ROTATES the screen. Again, I have NO idea of HOW she does it, but again it seems to be a HOTKEY, and does not have a confrmation. Now today, (she seems to be very talented! Just wish she could learn how to pay bills!) She changed the Ease of Accessability and set it to GRAYSCALE.( was not here to see what she did, but again, I image it was some type of hotkey. When she gets to the keyboard, she just jumps up and the lays down. No stepping all over the keyboard, Any idea how I can LOCK, or what the key stroke are so I can use them to MY advantage?I have google multiple tiem with out finding any.... I mean, first time if was funny espeacilly the screen flip!. but... I need to stop this. I leave my screen up sometimes as I fall asleep wating youtube I have not installed any tools that should do this, but maybe something installed by Lenovo? This does NOT seem to be a WINDOWS feature, as I cannot find reference to it anywhere! HELP Bruce....

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I seem to be constantly frustrated nowadays by a computer that truly is best described as being of the bleeping variety. I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium, and after all the problems experienced with Vista, I had thought things would improve. Silly me.
For reasons beyond me, it won't, or can't, do what I'd expect it to. I've run chkdisc (no errors found) and SFC (errors found, all corrected) and various malware / virus scans (no infections, no threats.) Yet simple ordinary routine tasks continue to be impossible, as per this list:
1 System Restore. I can set new restore points to my heart's content but will System restore ever find them? Nope. Never. I've tried repeatedly to go back to an earlier restore point but on each occasion am greeted with the message: "System restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed. Details: System restore failed to extract the original copy of the directory from the restore point. Source: %SystemRoot%\registration. destination: ComPlus Staging."
2 Windows Repair Disc: Another supposedly simple Windows 7 task. But not for me. Every time I try to create it, the message is: Microsoft Windows Repair Disc has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
3 System Maintenance. An unexpected error occurred while troubleshooting. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue. Packag... Read more

I'm quite frustrated with a redirect problem I'm having. If I do a google search, then click on the result it goes elsewhere. If I try to use a browser (ie, or firefox) to go to a particular url, again--it's a redirect. I've downloaded and run 4 or 5 programs to resolve it, but none get rid of the problem--including Norton, Pareto, xdelbox, and hijack this. Why does Norton make so much $money$ if it cannot deal with this?Anyway, I've followed all the instructions on this site. The dds.txt file is below; attach.txt and ark.txt are attached... I found this thing called "START PAGE"
I thought it was to protect XP, but as i looked at it, it seems to be some sort of, well i am just not sure, they are saying they do all these things that will make me surf safer but none of it seems to protect my computer, it all seems to be about blanking out your sulf history (which i think fire fox does anyway) with a proxy ?
what i like is the darn controls are so simple, like it does not bounce me in and out of family search mode all the time, plus the image page is organized instead of a over load of pictures, which is great if you are a bird watcher, cause the pics are more distinct if you use their Black back ground page.
they say they don't sell my sulf history which can't be worth much any way, as i buy almost nothing on the net, my main interest being, old movies bio's free programs, u tube music down loads etc.
it seems like cheese cake for paranoids
plus they have a "secure socket" any body know what that is.

FWIW:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ixquick#Startpage.com and http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/encyclopedia/search.aspx?query=Win32/Startpage .
We need more info by you to determine just what the name signifies, IMO.  Exactly where did you find it?  Did you install it?
A link would be useful, IMO.

Recently I booted my computer and the monitor would not display. I cleaned the entire unit. I hooked the PC to a different monitor, and still nothing. I replaced the video card and still nothing. I replaced the CMOS battery and still nothing. The light on the motherboard is green, I am sure that all the cables and components works correctly. I am unable to use the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers connected to the monitor. What could be the problem? Is there a simple or any solution that does not involve buying a new computer?

A:Some Bad bleep Going On

Alrighty. I found out what was going on. I'll explain what happened incase this happens to anyone else. Spybot S&D < 1.5 only had about 35000 things to immunize, and was not as wide spread as 1.5. 1.5 Added a bleep-ton of sites to my hostfile and used my local IP to redirect my computer to my own computer if It attempted to connect to those sites. That drove SpySweeper NUTS. Somehow it was reading those sites in the hostfile as attempts to connect to the internet.

I realized this when it was still spamming the warnings when not connected to the internet and noticed my hostile was Massive.

I deleted everything but my 'localhost' out of my hostfile, and not had one issue since then. Sorry if anyone read my HJT log, I had originally posted this in the AV/Spyware programs thread but it was moved to HJT Misplaced Logs.
My fix seems to have worked. Hopefully I didn't do something dumb
I would really like to upgrade to 1.5 Spybot..But apparently Spysweeper will have issues, anyone got an ideas?

Hi Jack and welcome to BC

What is your operating system? If you are using XP you need to disable system restore, do a scan with McAfee, AdAware and Spybot S&D and reenable system restore again.

Perhaps post your HiJack log in the HiJack forum and let the experts have a look.

Okay, here's the deal.
I recently bought a ATI Radeon HD 5750 and 2 LCD Monitors (ASUS VH222T).
Then i thought, hey, what's this Eyefinity thing on the box? so here's what happened:
step 1) went and bought a displayport to HDMI Adapter (passive)
result: didn't work. more research on the internet turned up several same results.

step 2) ordered a DisplayPort to VGA (passive) adapter off eBay.
result: didn't work EITHER! more research on the internet. this is where it gets interesting (for need of a better word). Some people report that using a passive DP > VGA Adapter worked for them.

So i found a 19" LCD Monitor as well, and i want to connect it to my PC so i can use 3 monitors as an extended desktop (i think that's possible?). but whatever i try, i can't get it to work, unless i plug it into one of the DVI-D ports, both of which are taken by the Asus Monitors. my only option (since the HDMI is shared with one of the DVI Monitors) is to use DisplayPort.

And as far as i'm concerned, Active DP > VGA/DVI/HDMI adapters are EXPENSIVE!

so i have two options:
1) somehow get the DisplayPort > VGA Adapter combo working
2) can someone recommend a good monitor that has a displayport input (minimum) for under AUD$200?

As i'm not using this for eyefinity, i'm assuming that this kind of graphics card will allow me to run 3 different monitors seperately.

This is an unusually long post for me

any ideas?

I've never tried to modify any computer hardware so I'm not really fluent technical vocab. However I do pic things up quite quickly and I'm wanting to try to become more confident inside a computer.
Any assistance would be fantastic.

I've seen other topics that say an infection has caused the loss of sound, or to restore/re-run the sound setup files for the cards. I went to the program files for my sound manager "Avance AV'97" card, but there are no files there....

How would i go about re-running or re-setting-up the sound card?

Does anybody know how to get rid of the above-noted? I understand it is related to the Realtek Audio files which are necessary, on my HP PC, for audio start-up to occur.

My Norton is up to date and I have run a full system scan on my computer this morning - nothing came up.

Until the last couple of days, login occurred every time without this happening. We have two accounts on the machine.

Thanks in advance.

This is a result of a recent Microsoft update, and is a known issue. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448/ . You will need to download and install the 935448 package as indicated in the above KB article.

Computer won't boot. I switch it on, everything internally comes on (case fans, gfx card fans, cd drive, hard disk) but the mouse and keyboard are showing no lights. The monitor remains on standby. There is no bleep on startup. I removed the memory, still no bleep. I've cleared the CMOS (or at least i've used the jumper the manual stated to use to achieve this). The computer is almost 3 years old and gets a lot of use, typically 6 hours a day.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

A:No Boot, No Bleep

Try entering the Bios Setup if you are able to get in, turn on POST/ or turn off fast boot. If you are not able to enter Bios setup its a hardware problem like motherboard or other stuff.

I have had a thread and not so much as a response,
I am not sureif it is because it is to difficult of a challenge or if everyone is busy, or veryone is a AV tool scanner  pro and if the scanner doesn't find it, we are screwed.
We are having an explosion of weird viruses here on this board and many of them are not getting solved.
I have tried all the tools, followed other threads in the exact same order, reinstalled and wiped windows, etc. There is somethings our tools will not get rid of.
Here is my original post.
If anyone can help me I would love to pay well and figure some of this out.

I know how frustrating it is when your computer isn't working properly. Let me assure you that your topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/571137/desperate-help-needed-true-professional-will-paydonate-well/ isn't lost, forgotten, or ignored. We work with hundreds of logs every day, so we have devised a means of seeing only those topics that don't have responses yet. At the moment, we have nearly 30 unanswered topics, the oldest dated March 20 at 2:22 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings time in the U.S.A. Your log topic is dated March 24 at 3:44 a.m. using the same time zone. Our volunteer MRT team members have various levels of expertise and training, so while we try to take the oldest DDS/HJT logs, it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. In either case, neither of us would want someone to assist you who is not familiar with your issue and attempt to fix it.Please be patient. It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable. If HelpBo... Read more

I'm not trying to be cute when I say it that way, it's just that I have no other explanation for it's behavior right now!

I have an MSI K8MM3-VH motherboard, VIA chipset, an AMD Athlon XP x64 2.2 GHz processor, 2 GB's Kingston DDR400 RAM, an NVIdia GeForce 7600 256 MB AGP video card, a Creative Audigy SE PCI sound card, two Seagate 80 GB hard drives, a Thermaltake 430 watt power supply. I run Vista Basic x64 with Firefox on a cable connection.

Like many setups I read about, my system ran fine at first, but over time, started getting sluggish and unresponsive. Now before I go on, I should mention that, when I was getting ready to buy this motherboard, I could not get MSI to confirm whether it would work on Vista x64 or not.

Each time I called, one technician said it would work on Vista, another one said it wouldn't. Another technician even said it would work on Vista x32, but not x64. So I've got that going against me. I have the x64 VIA chipset drivers installed along with all of my Windows patches including SP1.

I've been running ESET Smart Security along with a few other antispyware apps and everything is up to date. I have had a few problems in the past with spyware, so much so that it forced me to perform a recovery of my C drive by using Acronis True Image, so that might have something to do with what I have heard described as a lack of integrity with my system files.

However, everything has gotten slowwwwwww! And from the time I ... Read more

A:System running like (bleep)!

Slowness is usually a result of infections or too many programs running.

You might try scans with some other tools. Though a single anti-virus is enough, malware needs several scanners to detect it all.

Take a look at your startup items, Disable those that don't need to be running.

And run a chkdsk /f on all drives, even if the read-only scan comes back clean. File system problems can slow things dramatically.

Watch your Task Manager. See what is using all the CPU by clicking the CPU column header twice. Also, enable the CPU Time column. That can show you what has been using the CPU when you weren't watching it.

If you have Vista installed and it was working all right, I doubt that the x64 question is an issue at all.

Why is it that Lenova is not front and center on this problem? If they are, can anyone please direct me to where they are and the solutions Lenova have delivered to its customers. Our company bought 10 of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen, they are failing one by one. support is not able to provide a solution. Our tipping point to purchase them was the screen quality, but the screen image (flickering/black) is what is failing. If we don't see Lenova address the issue in a responsive manner to its customers, we will fade to black as a customer just like their screens are and take our future business elsewhere. What a shame. Show up Lenova, take this opportunity to build community, not a migration away from your company. RespectfullyS

Now, this ABI thing is the major problem. The only way It claims I can get rid of it, is if I download and uninstaller, from a site they linked me to. No thanks. Could that be the reason it's acting like that, or is it just because the Drive is acting up due to age?

Hi, thanks for reading this.My computer got infected overnight, and when I came this morning to use it, my younger brother was trying to play a game. He told me that he was getting pop ups and that a 'program' was telling him to run a scan for protection. He said he got tired of receiving the message and closing it to have it back again a few moments later that he ran the 'scan'. When he told me what happened.. I expected the worst, because I know that I didn't install that particular program. So I saw the desktop and it had a few windows open, I tried running Malwarebytes and I couldn't, everything was getting frozen and it wouldn't open, so I thought I would restart the computer in safe mode but it didn't work. The computer now will not let me go in at all. Esecially when some of the affected keys are in your assword... Not sure if the 4 affected keys are connected hysically and thats why theyre acting u together, or if this could have something to do with the fact that the issues arose immediately after some Windows udates.  I would immensely areciate any hel ! I've tried to delete the autorun.inf files via setting recycle bin to automatically dump, scanning and trying to destroy via malware bytes, spybot, super-anti-spyware, and performed at least 10 scans, etc. I tried to modify my registry using del /a:rhs c:autorun.inf, but my computer says I don't have access to hiberfil.sys, but I can SEE the autorun.inf file in my in my app data/local/temp/{9EAB...} file folder, which I'm fairly certain is not - in fact - mine. Lots of other weird things - no idea - but something is very strange. Way above my head - please help.

Again - I read forums, but I am still afraid I've made an error. Please let me know if I need to something else.

I've got an old Dell Dimension B110 on my hands. Running XP 32-bit... a friend's unit. IE began running slow as hell, so she took it to have it "cleaned" according to what she told me, they ran some sort of wipe (unit only has 40k or so files on it now). However, the sluggishness persists. It takes several minutes to run a simple Google search.

I ran both Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials (after having manually installed them both via USB), each to no avail. I also snooped around in her temp files on IE, and I found that she had a metric bleep ton of website certificates from all over the damn globe. She's used this unit to pirate things before, claiming that she only used Pirate Bay, but she must've done something else to this unit to have authorized so many certificates. I'd have a little more information on her web browsing habits, but she's beyond computer illiterate: attempting to ask her computer-related questions is like pulling teeth.

I can't for the life of me figure out what's bogging this thing down. Any help with this is appreciated.

A:Internet Exploder Slow as bleep

What are the specs for this machine it might be just age and out of date hardware slowing it down. Web pages especially search sites are becoming more and more complex and require more power to render and load these days.

Hi I am new to this forum and wonder if someone could give me some help please.

My computer is slow to start up. Can’t update IE8. when I do it won’t connect to the internet. some sites get “Script on page making it run slowly” . Also other problems. I regularly run Malewarebytes.

I have run the Bleepingcomputer adware remover, which shows 94 registry entries for possible deletion.
Also Hitman pro, which showed 194 references to Yahoo Toolbar, 1 to Softonic and 50 Tracking Cookies with option to Delete. Hitman said no threats but 251 traces. Whatever that means. And 3 suspicious but said to ignore.

I have been told to delete everything that comes up on these 2 programs but there seems to be a lot to delete and they look like they belong to programs I use. I don’t know what to keep or delete.

For example Bleepingcomp shows Under Services and under Files alot of AVG Secure Search and AVG Security Toolbar. references also Yahoo Companion

Under Regristry - here are a few examples, some look as though they belong to programs whilst others I have no idea what they are.
AVG Secure Search HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{EF99

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\AppID\{1FDFF \ScriptHelper.EXE \ViProtocol.DLL

\Classes\protector_dll.protector \TypeLib\ \ViProtocol.ViProtocolOLE

Explorer\Browser Helper Objects CurrentVersion\Ext\PreApproved\

l\Yahoo! Companion HKU\.DEFAULT\Software\IGearSettings

A:Problems with IE8, Ran Hitman & Bleep, don't know what to delete

Thanks for reply

Sorry what does BHO stand for?

I have tried several times to update IE8 but new versions 9, 10 and 11 won't connect to the internet and I have to uninstall.

Yahoo came with BT Broadband
Recently reinstalled AVG, can't remember where from

At startup, I have already stopped all programs at startup that I don?t think I need immediately ie camera, printer, Quicktime, Adobe etc

There are 2 unknown ones
ISUSPM Startup Unknown HKCU Microsoft
Vprotect App Unknown HKLM Microsoft which I have left on for now.

These are some of the files that come up on Bleepingcomputer that are suggested may be deleted.
I keep deleting iwin games but it keeps coming back despite that all of my games have somehow been uninstalled somewhere along the way.

There are about 95 of these type of files
