Tomorrow is my last chance, should I take my ideapad 100s back for a refund or replace or keep it?

Q: Tomorrow is my last chance, should I take my ideapad 100s back for a refund or replace or keep it?

I do not know what this laptop is supposed to be able to do but I do know that it is not able to do the things that others claim that it can. Tomorrow is the cut off date for my ability to return it for a full refund or replacement so could anyone please tell me: What is this device supposed to be able to do battery wise? According to a review it can do 9 hours of constant web surfing. Mine can do 7 hours of no screen turn off and no sleep (so constantly on), with battery saver and power saver mode both on, and about an hour and a half of web surfing spread out sporadically throughout the 7 hours. If I constantly web surf it gets maybe 4 to 5 hours of battery. With sporadic use and letting it sleep and turn it's screen off it gets well over 24 hours of battery life. Is this how it is supposed to be? 7 hours of constantly being on with only low, sporadic actual use and over 24 hours if use is low and sporadic and it is allowed to sleep when not being used? Or is it really supposed to be able to get 9 hours of constant web surfing? If it is supposed to get 9 hours of constant use then I clearly have a bad battery and need to take it back! But the Lenovo page for this device says 7 hours and that this depends on many factors, so it sounds like my battery may be just fine and whomever got 9 hours has a lot of luck and that is not the norm for this device. However I have no idea! Please can anyone who knows tell me before tomorrow night so I don't end up keeping a machine with a bad battery?

Preferred Solution: Tomorrow is my last chance, should I take my ideapad 100s back for a refund or replace or keep it?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

(posted in wrong place previously) In December, my laptop starting resetting itself (still in warranty). Its now May, and Lenovo are still refusing to give me a refund or a replacement. I feel I've been very understanding and patient at all the slow failed attempts to deal with the problem, but I'm completely fed up now. I'm a student, so having a reliable laptop is obviously really helpful, but I've spent many weeks of this year without a laptop whilst Lenovo have tried to repair it, and the rest of the time I've had a laptop that resets without warning which means I sometimes lose work even though I save my work regularly and back it up.  In January, it was sent to be repaired, they replaced the hard drive, but the problem still kept happening when it came back in February. In February, it was sent to be repaired again. They couldn't replicate the problem so claimed it was working fine (even though I had sent evidence that it wasn't fine, each reset left reports in the reliability monitor about bug report 124 and that it was a hardware error). So they sent it back unchanged after several weeks. Lenovo told me if the problem was still happening that they would refund or replace it.However, when I reported it still did happen, they said actually it was Lenovo's policy that there must be three failed repairs before they would do that.So in March I sent it off again to be repaired, this time they acknowledged again there was a fault, but they just repla... I got the Ideapad 100s last year. Works great, but a Windows update screwed it up, and I can't install ANY OS anymore. When I boot 10 from my USB, it freezes on the first setup screen. Even DEBIAN! It freezes on the language setup. It started doing this sort of recently. When it freezes, the power light goes out and the caps lock light doesnt turn on, so I have to force turn it off. The UEFI doesn't give me many options to change, besides secure boot, which I've tried both on and off. I've been trying different USB's, seeing if it was the stick issues, but so far, the boot menu doesn't detect them, except one of them. I want to be able to use this again, but at the moment, I can't. Help?

Hi, Does Zemana offer refunds and do they actually do it. I am very dissapointed with them and have approached them for a refund. I have to yet receive a reply.

A:Zemana Refund - Will they refund me? Where can I ask for my money back?

You can request a refund here: Order Detail Request Form

Where it says "Order Request Type", you can select "Refund Request"

Personally, my experience has always been good but security software behaves different with each computer. Whether or not you can receive a refund is probably a case by case basis in which only they can have a sure answer.

Hello everyone,  I bought a Yoga 920 last week and was really pleased with its performance until yesterday evening. I was clicking through a folder when the screen froze and I had to do a manual reset, which led to a series of blue error screens, more freezing, a Windows reset, and then a completely unresponsive machine (black screen, keyboard lights flashing). I called customer services this morning, who said that they would organise a refund or replacement for me. I really liked the machine when it was performing well, but I'm nervous about sticking with it after such a new machine turned out to be faulty (I'd used Apple products for the past 10 years and haven't had anything like this happen before). I'm currently writing up a PhD and lost that day's work as a result of this (not to mention all the time spent trying to resolve the issue), so I want a machine that's as reliable as possible. I'd like to know what other people recommend, based on their experience with this model - should I stick with the 920 and treat this as a freak occurence, or is this sort of thing common? Thanks!

I have a lenovo Y470 laptop and it's beyond warranty. I've done fan cleaning many times and reassemble it back perfectly every time. Now that the laptop is beyond warranty and with a dead motherboards. Since I can't afford a new laptop, is there any chance that I can replace it by myself?
I've surfed online and have found lots of disassembly guides and videos on youtube. So disassembly seems easy for me.
And I've searched a compatible motherboard. Should I order it and replace by myself?
https://www.empowerlaptop.com/p/lenovo-y470-motherboard/
I hope there's someone gives me some advice. Thanks in advance.

A:Y470 - Any chance to replace motherboard by myself...

If you are comfortable working inside your laptop then there really isn't any reason not to replace the motherboard.  Just take your time and keep track of all the little screws and where they go.  Personally, I use a muffin tin to keep all the various screws separate.  I mark each bin on the tin with a brief description of where the screws go, example: back cover, keyboard, palm rest, etc.  Also take care when unplugging the various cables.  Some of the connectors on the ribbon cables have different types of release latches. Some slide in while others may flip up.   Your videos will be of assistance with those.

I sure you have it already, but if not here is a link to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual.  The manual not only offers dis-assembly instructions, but has additional tips and pre-cautions to follow.

Hi

I got a 2nd hand Lenovo Ideapad 100S. It came with Win10 installed but had someone elses profile and data.
(I am not sure if it originally had Win8.1 when it was shipped, there is no rollback option anymore)

My preference is to wipe the current installation completely by downloading Win10 and installing a clean copy off USB.

I also usually prefer to delete all partitions, including recovery because future reinstallations can be done from scratch via USB. (I don't need the option of reinstalling from recovery partitions , the extra space is more important)

I see a warning in the user guide however .....
"Do not delete or modify the Recovery Partition on a WIMBoot-enabled computer. If the Recovery Partition is deleted or modified, you may not be able to restore Windows to the factory status. For computer models on which WIMBoot is enabled, deleting the Recovery Partition may cause Windows to fail to start. How can I determine whether the Windows running on my computer is WIMBoot enabled? WIMBoot technology is normally enabled on copies of Windows 10 Update running on SSD (or eMMC) -only computer models."

What is the best way to do this?

Install a clean copy and remove the partition by booting off a USB, or should I not do this?
Via Settings: settings > Recovery > Reset this PC > Remove everything, or
settings > Recovery > advanced startup > Reinstall from USB

A:Ideapad 100s - Win10 clean installation on ideapad...

 Hi larrens ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It's a good thing you posted first before proceeding with any clean installation.
Not sure what the Machine Number is to verify the details and specifications of your system.

But if you have a pc with a Windows Image Boot (or WIMBoot) you may not want to choose a clean installation.
This new deployment of installation is compressing part of a big OS file so that you can have an operating system that can only take small spaces intended for small storages (SSD).

Best option to wipe out previous owners profile is a have a fresh out of the box image is using the Puch button Factory reset (Novo key similar to Item 7 page 1). Simply shutdown the system and use the button to turn on, System Recovery option would provide One key recovery from initial backup to do it.

WIM boot are usually created thru OEM depot authorized by Microsoft . DIY for WIMboot maybe a bit complicated.
Click on underlined links for further review.

Hope this answered your query.

Hi there

When doing a scan using My Free Version of AVG it told me I have a Virus called Backdoor.Lastdoor then I found out thow to remove it so I followed what I was told to remove it (Got the removal info from the trend website) so I do a scan after following the instructions on the Trend website run AVG seems ot be gone Happy Days I htink to Myself.

Tonight (24 hours after all of the above) I run Housecall (Trend) and while thats scanning the AVG window appears telling me I have got the Backdoor.Lastdoor Virus again. I dunno why but I am starting to think that htis Virus is coming with the download from the Trend Housecall website because when you do the scan from the housecall site you have to download something and it's the only thing I can think of that may of given me this Virus again.

So how can I get rid of this again and make sure it don't come back again.

Thanks for any help in advance.

PS: This is how Trend Micro tells me how to get rid of this Virus which I followed.
Log on as Administrator.
Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop and click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Select Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply > Yes > OK.
Continue with the scan/clean process. Files under the _Restore folder can now be deleted.
Re-enable System Restore by clearing Turn off System Restore.

A:Gone Today Back tomorrow

It's not coming from Trend I'm sure.

In what location is the infection returning?

If you run regedit and navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

Is there a startup for rundll32.exe there? and have you verified that your current version of rundll32.exe is legit?

Hello, about two years ago i deleted a video and I'm wondering what my chances are of getting the video back. Because it is quite a while ago i'm not sure if I already had my new laptop or not. In the first case, the video was uploaded onto a windows computer and almost immediately deleted. It also got deleted from the recycle bin. After that there would have been a few weeks of normal computer use. If I already had my new laptop at that moment the file would have been uploaded onto a macbook, almost immediately deleted and after that there would have been more than a year of normal computer use. Now I would like to know what the chances are of getting that file back. Thanks in advance!
PS: i don't think it can be restored from the SD card in my camera because it has been overwritten a few times

Hi, I purchased the laptop in November and I've been having issues with the battery for the past two days. The charger is currently plugged in, but it won't charge. It looks like it's charging but when I hover over the battery icon it says "0% available, plugged in, charging". It also did the same thing earlier while charging and it automatically shut down on it's own. Last night I left it plugged in all night and when I woke it was at 100% but it's back to giving trouble today. Any quick fixes or do I need to buy a new laptop before this one dies?

Bought my laptop one month ago and yesterday it black screened and is just a paperweight now. Lonovos only solution to selling defective computers is to repair them. What I couldn't get them to understand is that I don't want a broken and repaired laptop, that's not what I paid for. I paid for a no defective computer. You cant give me a broken machine that you band-aided for the same price as a new machine. I just want a replacement or my money back. I feel as if I'm getting screwed over big time here, and that's not how a company should do business. Don't sell me a lemon and then offer to fix it. I didn't want a lemon in the first place. I want what I paid for, a fully functional non defective machine. Lenovo refuses and is keeping the money. Lesson learned.

I have a 100s 11.6 and, of course, the memory is full.  Almost instantly.  I bought a 64gb card for it but when I go into disk management and try to delete the D partition, all 3 choices are greyed out.  Do the same with C partition and the only choice is Shrink Volume.  Is there a work-around ?? Also, reading online, all I've read says the memory is soldered in on my model.  When I pulled the back off it, I see that the boards are plugged in.  I'd be real pleased if I could buy a larger capacity board to install.  Is that possible ??  Barring any of the above, I can manually copy and paste individual files from C drive to D drive to make a bit more room on C, but not sure which ones are safe to do so or how to go about it without messing up my OS.  Yah, I'm a newbie at this stuff and need hand-hold assistance. Thanks in advance.

I loved the size and price point of the Lenovo Ideapad 100S. However, of course because it only came with 30GB of hard drive space, Windows 10 basically maxed it out immediately. So, tonight I just tried to do something about it. I purchased a Samsung M.2 SSD 256 GB. I have a screenshot and I really think I installed it right. I just can't figure out how to get the bios to recognize it. Disk management doesn't show it at all. I rebooted into bios and reset defaults and restarted to no avail. What did I do wrong here? Is it just that the Ideapad can't recognize this particular M.2 SSD? Please see the screenshot I have attached. Any suggestions on how to get the bios to recognize this? Quite a pain having to wait for it to re charge, isn't that the point of corded use? Also it seems to die pretty quickly and even when put to sleep when closed fizzles out quickly.
