Touchpad freezes while using the Satellite A notebook

Q: Touchpad freezes while using the Satellite A notebook

I opened my laptop this morning and began to use however around 5 minutes in the mouse froze, however this was not the typical freeze behavior as when i left click and hold i can still move it as if highlighting text but if i release the mouse is immovable, I have checked the drivers for the mouse and display adapters but these are both up to date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 running 32 bit Vista, and I used to be able to scroll with the touchpad, however, it doesn't seem to be working any longer. Also, in the synaptics pointing device program, I am unable to configure actions to the left and right buttons. I checked apoint.exe and it seems to be working fine...does anyone know what may be causing this or how to fix it? What should I be reinstalling? It's very annoying and I'd like to be able to scroll without holding the button and dragging. Thanks

A:Toshiba Satellite A200 Notebook - Synaptics Touchpad Not Scrolling?

It could be a hardware issue.

I had similar problems w/ notebook - mousepad had to be replaced.

You could try to un-install all drivers in Device Manager then re-boot. Vista will re-install. Also make sure to go to OEM site and get updated driver - if available.

Note that you will lose mouse function completely after un-install. Have USB mouse or b/c familar with CTRL-ALT-DEL that will get you to screen so you can use arrow keys to restart system

Regards. . .

Hi all,

Toshiba Satellite R630-105 model.
When writing for a while (using the keyboard) without any rule-based touchpad icon character appears on the screen, and occasionally temporary freezing appears.

At the same time I use a USB mouse, and I disabled the touchpad using the Fn-F9 Tin order to eliminate the problem.
Disable USB mouse using the internal touchpad to be marked in the option menu Control Panel ->Mouse.

Synaptics currently installed driver version dated 11.03.2010.
I also tried drivers installing at later date, but don?t get a good result.

I have tried the suggested solutions but it did not work this link:

If you would appreciate a fix or suggestion for a solution.

A:Satellite R630-105 - touchpad temporally freezes

As I understood your issue, the touchpad icon appear while typing and this can be solved temporally disabling the touchpad pressing the FN +F9.
Is this correct?

In my knowledge you can disable the touchpad while typing by choosing the option in Control Panel ?> Mouse -> Pointing device tab (in some cases its Advanced tab) -> Setting button

There is area called ?Operations during key input?
And there you can choose the option is called ?Disable tapping? and ?Disable scroll function?

Hello Everyone,

My problem started after updating windows 8.1 to windows 10, of course!
First the touchpad just stopped working, for no reason.

My solution was to uninstall the drive and restart the laptop. And from time to time I had to do this proceed. Two weeks ago windows updated, and the touchpad issue's gone. . Unfortunately, another one appeared.

The feature "mousekey", which is turn it on at ease access to use the numeric keys to use them as a mouse, It's turning itself on. And doesn't matter how many times I turn it off, few seconds and it's on again.

I've tried uninstalling the drive, which after windows the last updating was "ELAN".

Then I replaced by the Toshiba drivers, which is "Synaptic", and uninstalled the drives ,the problem is the same. Because of that, I can't use my numeric key, which is annoying!! If anyone can come up with something I will be grateful.

#1 For some reason my touchpad on my HP 15 (2015 model with 8.1, now upgraded to Windows 10 1511) freezes. I hate that when it happens, you cant use it for 20 or 30 seconds or so. I close my lid and open it back up and it works normal, but then after a little bit it starts doing it again. My driver is up to date, I think it maybe Synaptics? If I need to give more info, please say!

#2: When I scroll on my touchpad up words it opens the start menu every so often when I am scrolling a lot, but when I didn't even open or even get near it or press Windows key. What is causing this? I hate it when it does this and screws up my readings then it stops scrolling and focuses more on the start menu then I have to click out of the menu and go back to what ever I was doing.

My own notebook (Asus EEE PC S101), running Windows XP service pack 3) was twice redirected to an unknown website when I wanted to visit the Guardian newspaper website. I was using IE version 8. Then the notebook froze. When this happened, I had to switch it off without using Cleanup, which I have used safely for a long time. When I had switched it on again, I used Firefox to go to the Techsupport Forum. I followed the instructions to download dds.scr and began running it. Then the notebook froze again. It still tells me "Two logs shall be created on your desktop" Now the cursor does not move any more either. I write this from another notebook, but I cannot create a logfile,m as everything is frozen on my own notebook. Help, please,

Hi- I picked up a used Dell notebook and have just installed win98SE and just a few other programs, no special mouse software... just Dell sound and video drivers, IE 6.0 and Windows Updates, SpyBot... I have used other notebooks, but never noticed what this crazy touchpad does on the Dell Latitude CPiA366- touching the pad like you were going to scroll the cursor over is having the same affect as a left click with mouse button, or Enter key- do all notebooks do this or all Dells?
Weird- put the cursor on a link and it is activated just by the pad when you put your finger on it- not even a tap really. Is there a way to turn down this too sensitive touchpad?

A:Notebook touchpad question

Found an answer to my question- seems this is how Dells work so all is fine.

Anyone know how to tame this beast?

I used to have a program that allowed me to do so, but when I google it now, I don't get any results that will allow me to download that program, it was called FspUip.exe

Usually you could roll back the system to the early time point and this would help to get the driver back.

Please try it out… use the Windows own internal option “Backup & Restore” to set the OS back to early restore point.

I have a problem which is driving me to distraction.

Unless I'm staring at the touchpad when I do it, about 60% of the time I try to
left-click with the touchpad, I right-click it by mistake. I'm not sure whether this
is because the touchpad is offset so far to the left compared with the other
laptop I use, a Thinkpad, or what.

Anyway, the only way I think I can carry on using this machine is if I can
somehow change the settings so that wherever I click on the touchpad
it interprets it as a left-clift - I'd be quite happy to use the RH Windows key
to get context menus, etc.

Can I do this and how?

I'm using Win10 Pro 64-bit if that makes any difference.

TIA, Martyn

My laptop's keyboard and Touchpad suddenly stopped working a few days ago but my USB mouse is still working. It is working every time  I boot the computer but after some time I just stops. I looked at the mouse settings and the Synaptics tab was missing so I reinstall the Synaptics Touchpad Driver from HP sopport page. The driver was installed but it disappears again and the touchpad and keyboard stops working. The problem is still there so I tried to uninstall it again checking the "delete the driver permanently" or something then rebooted my PC. After rebooting I intalled the driver after the intallation was done it prompted me to reboot so I restarted the PC again but after the restart the driver is not installed. Now the keyboard is working but still stops responding after some time and the touchpad have no driver and in device manager the "PS/2 touchpad" is gone, only the USB mouse is present. My laptop is HP Pavilion TS sleekbook 14 b133tx.OS: Windows 8.1 Single Language 64 bit

A:Notebook Keyboard and Touchpad not working

Hi @NoGameNoLife , Thank you for your inquiry, I am happy to help! I grasp that you are having a difficulty with the keyboard and Touchpad but your mouse is still working.  When you checked the mouse setting the Synaptics tab was missing.  You downloaded the Synaptic Touchpad driver and installed but it again disappeared and the keyboard and Touchpad stop working,  You deleted the driver this time and rebooted your notebook. You again installed the driver and it prompted  you to reboot which you did, but again the driver is not installed.  The keyboard now works but after some time it quits responding. Have you scanned for viruses and malware? Would you try this step:Go to the command prompt and right click to run as administratorType sfc /scannow and press enterWait for it to complete and then restart your computer. This will scan for corrupted files and try to repair them. Here are links to assist you with some troubleshooting steps.Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 8)Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8) If this has not resolved the issue, I would try a Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).   If you connect an external keyboard do you have the same issue, does it quit responding after awhile?  If you are still having a difficulty, I would do a full recovery back to factory. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8) During the recove... Hi, It's always worth trying the following. Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Regards, DP-K

This issue was raised in another thread which was closed out before it was resolved. I have an ASUS Notebook K53e and I want to disable the touchpad on it which the specific make/model is ELAN PS/2 Port Smartpad. I need this thing disabled because it interferes with the typing very badly. Where do I go from here? Thanks,

Hey everybody... I've got an HP Pavilion ze4400 on which the touchpad doesn't work. I can't be sure whether it's a faulty device or if drivers aren't installed. In Control Panel, under Mouse, Hardware, only one device (the USB mouse I'm using) shows up. I'm not sure what the standard touchpad driver for HP notebooks is. Going through the Add Hardware Wizard and telling XP that the device is already installed, it then gives me a list of installed hardware to select from. I don't know what that driver is, if it's even in there. Anyone know what the driver is? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

Hi, First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53501-54000/sp53851.exe Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall. When this has completed, shut down the notebook. Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter. Tap away at f10 as soon as you press the power button to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again. When windows has reloaded, see if holding down the fn key and pressing the spacebar will illuminate the TouchPad. There are also further configurable options Here. Regards, DP-K

Toshiba satellite c50-a-156

About 2 months ago my laptop keyboard stopped working. When The log in screen came on, the password box filled up with black dots and I was unable to delete them. It was like a key was stuck. I was mid exams so used the ease of access to log in and bought a usb keyboard to use so I could use it as I was unable to find a fix for it online. I also updated from Windows 8 to Windows 10 in a bid to have it working again. I've been using the usb keyboard since (now completed exams) and I've just turned to laptop on. The same thing is happening however now my mouse is not working so I can't click on the ease of access.
I've changed usbs for the keyboard - nothing.

Unplugged, removed battery, turned on. (A lot!)
Seen on a forum to combine these and repeatedly press f2 then f9 enter and F10 enter, but this isn't working on either keyboard.
I've done ctrl alt delete X 2 but still Nothing is coming up.

I've attempted to reboot it by following online instructions but nothing is coming up. It's only responsive when I press enter on usb keyboard once all the endless black dots are there in the password box. Then it comes up its incorrect obviously but I can't press enter again to get back to a clear password box in an attempt to renter my password.

I don't use my laptop that often outside exam time and it's mainly for lesuirely use but this is infuriating.
Also I hope this makes sense because I'm really out of my depth here, I'm clueless on this stuff

I have a Toshiba Satellite L305d S394 that had the Vista virus on it when I purchased it one year ago. I scratched the original OS and installed W7 on it and found immediate relief. Hi guys, been a while. I hope you can help!

I have a Satellite L350-210, it is about a year old and running Vista HP.

Out of the blue, the touchpad stopped responding. I have tried enabling/disabling it using the FN + F9 key, updated the drivers, nothing. So then I uninstalled the drivers altogether, and reinstalled them using the ones listed on the official synaptics site, and the one on the toshiba site, nothing. Uninstalled again, and let the laptop find the drivers. Nada.

I went to the device list and the Synaptics device isn't even listed under mouse and pointers where it usually is. The only evidence it even exists is it still seems that it is listed as a startup program and when going to the mouse menu in the control panel, there is a seperate tab with the synaptics logo on it, although nothing in the tab is clickable. Everything is grayed out no mention of touchpad at all.

Does anyone have a clue? I would be most grateful for any help!

A:Satellite L350-210 touchpad not recognized

You could try, in device manager, right-click on 'Mice and other pointing devices', choose 'uninstall'. Then re-boot. Windows should discover the touchpad again. I was asked to look at an Acer Aspire which had the same problem. I think I would lift up the keyboard, see if it's possible to find the plug from the touchpad to the motherboard. Unplug it. Re-boot windows. Shut down. Plug it back in, re-boot Laptop and if all is well it should force windows to find it again and install the drivers.

Hello all,

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-1AP that has problems in the touchpad area. I've replaced the touchpad itself and refreshed the drivers but the problem remains.

Sometimes there is no response at all, at other times it just moves the mouse pointer extremely slowly and erratically. When the first problem occurred I attached a USB mouse which worked fine. On subsequent attempts the mouse is not recognised at all, on any port. I've adjusted the sensitivity via control panel (Win7) but there is little difference in behaviour. I'm also aware of the Fn+F9 switch.

I suspect the thing is destined for scrap. Any suggestions as to how to rescue it would be gratefully received.

Thanks for your time,

Hello guys,

I have a problem with the touchpad of a Toshiba Satellite Pro R50-b pssg1e - basically, I can move the cursor, but I cannot use it to scroll or anything else.

I have encountered this problem firstly on windows 8.1 and I thought there wasn't yet a driver for the touchpad. Now, I have installed Windows 7 64bits and still the same problem. Idon't understand the problem, I have installed all the drivers from the website including "touch pad driver made by alps electric".

In device manager, the mouse is recognized as just a Ps/2 compatible mouse. And, in the mouse settings, I don't have an advance tab where I can enable the extra functions of the touchpad.

Ps. the touchpad is enabled, so, no, the solution isnt fn+f5.

Thank you very much in advanced!

A:Satellite Pro R50-B - touchpad functionality isn't working

I think I have zeroed it on the problem - the touchpad driver from toshiba.com is not installing.

I've tried it a number of times - at the end of the installation process, it says that the installation is successful, but I cannot find anywhere on the computer.

Any other place where I can find a working driver for the alps touchpad for toshiba satellite pro r50?

Hi All,

I just recently bought a 2nd hand Toshiba Satellite x200-219. Had a few problems with it which I have overcome now, apart from one... The touchpad does not work as it should. I think the cable has been damaged at some point.

So I am wondering if I have to use the same ribbon cable to connect the touchpad to the motherboard or can I get one from a different model of Toshiba laptop?

I have tried searching on the net for advice but have come up with nothing so thought I would try the forums.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I think you can use the parts released for Satellite X205 series since this seems to be the same series like X200:
Found some parts related to the touchpad:
Satellite X205/X200 touchpad board with cable: part number: K000047950
Satellite X205/X200 TOUCH PAD FFC part number: K000047980

But why you don?t get in contact with an Toshiba authorized service provider in your country and order the needed and compatible part?

The mouse, out of nowhere, starts to go to the right or to the left and there is nothing to do to remove it from the place. Sometimes it stops and others doesn't. This problem prevents us from working. It has nothing to do with the mouse (we tried several) or with docking station because it happens without the docking station.

I have a P-50 C laptop and since I upgraded to Windows10, I have been having problems with my mouse. If the pointer accidentally touches any link, it clicks automatically, without my wanting it. It is particularly irritating when I just leave apage without wanting to, because the pointer was pointing in that direction. I don't know how to solve this issue. I am not an expert in computers and would like a simple remedy for this.
Thank you all out there in advance!

The Satellite Pro S750 is specified as having a gesture control touchpad. Toshiba replaced my Satellite A660 with a Satellite Pro S750, and I was taking it for a test drive...no gesture control. I visited the driver page, and there are no synaptics touchpad driver. Instead, an ALPS Pointer Device Driver is shown. I tried downloading it, but was warned during installation that I was replacing a driver for one that is identical.

Is the description of gesture control touchpad simply a mistake? Am I the only one without it?

A:Satellite Pro S750: No gesture touchpad

You might be right.
I visited this page http://support.toshiba.ca/support/isg/center/en/index.asp but did not find any info in user manual that gesture control would be available? furthermore there is no synaptics driver for download.

But you could visit the Synaptics page in order to download the newest driver:

Please post some feedback after the installation of such driver
