Power comes on, fan comes on, wifi solid orange, black scree...

Q: Power comes on, fan comes on, wifi solid orange, black scree...

When I turn the laptop on, the fan starts, and the power lights come on. Then, the wifi LED lights up and stays solid. The screen stays black. Once that sequence is finished, nothing else happens. Power stays on, fan stays on, power LEDs and wifi LED stay on solid. Caps and numlock LEDs don't come on when pressed. I've tried a hard reset and swapping the memory slot. I'm guessing it's the main board, but I don't want to buy and replace that if it's not the problem.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a G62 Laptop that will no longer start up.  When I press the power button I can hear the hard drive and CPU fan spin but after that the CAPS LOCK light continuously flashes and the WIFI light remains a solid orange.    I have tried removing the battery and holding down the power button for more than 30 seconds but that didn't help.  I tried removing the RAM sticks and booting up with one of them in at time but still can't get it to go.  I also blew out the fans but that didn't change a thing. I don't know what else to do.  I have read that it might be something with the CPU or the motherboard but I didn't know if there was anything else that I could try out. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. Thanks

I have an Inspiron 3650 i3 desktop pc that is a few years old and seldom used. When not in use it is in sleep mode.
Yesterday i tried taking it out of sleep mode, with no luck, and noticed the power button light was solid orange. After a few tries I hard reset the pc and it would not boot up completely. The fans come on and the harddrive sounds like its working but i get no video and the power button remained solid orange. After troubleshooting from several forums i ended up disconnecting everything from the motherboard and taking out the battery then after replacing it and trying to boot with just the cpu fan plugged in. same result, solid orange power button. The PSU seems to be working fine after troubleshooting it so im thinking its either the processor or mobo that has gone bad. Any suggestions?

Thats a power issue, simply "Hard Reset"  by removing the power cable from the laptop and then press and hold the power button for more than 20 seconds. Then wait a few seconds and turn it on simply! If it doesn't work, do it 2-3 times, for me it worked the 3rd time. After that, go to a service centre cuz then it might be a hardware issue!

Purchased this non working computer for $40.  The screen is black, the caps lock light blinks and the wifi light is lit in orange.  At the time you could hear everything boot up in the computer, the fan would run, the harddrive would boot up .... so I watched some videos on black screen problems on youtube, got it up and running.   However it was a tease, it worked for less than a month.  I didnt fix the problem which was over heating.  I did buy quadfans to go underneath it but turned them off at night and shouldnt have.  I scheduled the computer to check for updates at 3am so the computer would come on then and the fans wouldnt.   Well the black screen issue is backkkk.  The fan doesnt start up, the harddrive tries.  This time nothing is fixing it.  Ive torn it down to the motherboard to replace the fan.  I replaced and upgraded the harddrive and memory ... still nothing.   It also has a new battery and power cord.  Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

Try re-seating the Ram. If that doesn't help remove the Cmos battery for a few minutes then put it back, it looks like a silver coin and should be visible near the ram.

My wife and I were given a laptop that was barely used a few months ago and I've just been using it for Word documents for school. 90% of the time it isn't even online because we have more up to date computers that we use.
Here's the problem: one day a window popped up and said windows wasn't responding and when it was closed everything disappeared from the screen except the wallpaper. The computer was rebooted in safe mode and everything seemed to be good. After restarting from safe mode, the cpu got hung up on the "Welcome" screen. Tried ctrl:alt:delete but nothing happened. Rebooted it and now it's just a black screen. Went back into safe mode and restarted from there and it got hung up on the "Welcome" screen again.
So basically, if the cpu is started up normally it just shows a black screen. Safe mode can be run and when restarted from safe mode, the cpu gets hung up on the "Welcome" screen and doesn't respond to anything.
Nothing new has been installed. Like I said, I use itunes to listen to music while i do stuff in Word and Excel for school. I searched online for solutions, and have seen a lot of the same issues with fixes found. I thought I'd start my own thread and start my troubleshooting step by step through here. I appreciate any help or suggestions. thank you in advance.

A:Black Screen / Hung up on Welcome Scree

When you got the laptop, did you check the anti-virus software on it and be sure to do a full scan? If you had it connected to the Internet with no anti-virus present, or a very outdated version, then your laptop could have become infected. Booting up in SAFE mode is almost 95% guaranteed when dealing with a troubled computer, because it's usually malfunctioning programs or drivers that interfere with normal operation, and those are bypassed in SAFE mode. That is, unless your boot sector has been infected.

My suggestion is to create a bootable disk or USB with your healthy computer and include a copy of Malwarebytes. When booting up off the external media, run Malwarebytes to check for anything faulty.

If by chance you don't have a virus, then you should run the SFC scan to repair any faulty system files.
Open your start menu and in the search box, type Command PromptWhen you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administratorWhen command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each:

sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

start notepad.exe %userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt
This will open a text file with the results of the scan. Please Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this into your next post.

It connect to my laptop just fine, and it does project whatever is on my laptop. However, after a few mintues. The projector would turn off, and all I got is the solid orange light says "lamp."
I rebooted the projector a few times and same things happens every time. I can get it to load up for a few mintues but it eventurally shuts off by itself. And all I got is the solid orange lamp light.
Does that mean I have to replace the lamp now?

Hello, I am new here and I realy hope you can help me! I've have the Lenovo Thinkpad S440 (as in the description). I tried to fix it and after I disassembled the screen, I got all the water out of it but the backlight was not working anymore. So I ordered a new display. While I was looking for it, I came to the knwoledge, that you can take a replacement screen from the Lenovo Thinkpad T440s, at least considering that most 1600x900px displays seem to be the same for each of them. So I thought: okay, then I should be able to use the 1080p display for the t440s as well, since it also has a 30 pin eDP connector. So I ordered one and put it in my S440 and it fits perfektly. But now the display only gives a really dim short fliker while booting the machine and nothing is viewable, so the display stays completely black. Is there a possibility to fix it or can I only use the 1600x900 px displays on the s440? As I sayd the screen fits perfect and the 30 pin eDP connector also fits perfekt into the new display. To verify if the machine is still posting ( power on self test) , would the caps and numlock led still go on /off when button is pressed? How was it when you connect to an external monitor.

With the ac adapter connected , will the battery LED shows that it is still charging?

If you place a pen light onscreen , would there be any faint image ?

Hello,

Hoping someone here can offer some advice? I own a Dell studio xps 435t-9000 that is a couple years old. I recently replaced my harddrive and since then (don't know if it's a coincidence or not) I'm having another problem. After I installed it, the first time my computer went into sleep mode/hibernation I couldn't wake it up. Power light was flashing white. Eventually I shut it down manually and then it wouldn't boot. Had a solid amber light, no power except the power supply. Fans not working. I unplugged everything and made sure it was all good. Wouldn't start. Left it overnight and plugged it in the next morning. Started up. Worked great for about 7 hours and then just randomly shut down, no errors or anything. Same deal. Wouldn't start, amber solid power light. Let it sit for awhile, reseated everything and wouldn't start.Gave up for awhile, tried a few hours later and it started. I read a few boards pointing to the power supply being bad or not powerful enough. However, I replaced the power supply about 6 months ago with a Corsair 600 which is plenty power. Could still be an issue perhaps but seems odd it would die in that little time. I also replaced my graphics card if that matters. Finally the last time I checked all the plugs I also took out the board batter for a few minutes to try and "reset" things. Not sure if that matters, either.

So, I'm at a loss where to go from here. I could replace the power su... Read more

Hi: You need this driver for the wireless card your notebook has... This package contains the driver installation package for the Realtek RTL8188CE wireless LAN Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57049.exe

My HP 250 G2 F0Z26EA#BH5 Notebook won't boot. It has the WiFi key blinking orange light at 2 sec interval and not booting and won't power off even when pressing and holding power key. It all happened after a Bios Rollback (wanted to move back to the original Bios) The HP Tech team couldn't help solve the problem. They say it's a motherboard problem that I'll have to change my motherboard. I know that changing a motherboard costs a fortune, it's like changing a system and I cannot afford the cost. Another thing is that I have a BIOS Encryption, I added a Bios password to the System both Administrator and Power-on Password. The troubleshooting steps like removing all power source, then pressing and holding power key for 15-20secs and after plug Power cord without battery didn't work. I've also tried holding Windows key + B and then Power on. The System didn't boot but they WiFi key light remained steady. Now the last Agent that called asked me to keep pressing F8 key or Shift+F8 key immediately I pressed the Power button. I am yet to try this but I forgot to tell her that I have a BIOS Encryption (well she asked me but I wasn't sure what she was talking about so I said No).I cannot afford to change the motherboard (even though they haven't given me a quote yet). I planning on selling the System for a new one before this. Please help me get the Notebook operational. I need to get back to work with it.
