Q: computer says not compatible with wifi wat to do

I've got a Lenovo laptop had for awhile worked fine with wifi but now it is says (The capability of your adaptor does not match the requirements of this netwok) what does that mean and what can I do to fix it please help

Preferred Solution: computer says not compatible with wifi wat to do

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome to Seven Forums,

If it was previously working try a System Restore, restore it to a point when it was working.

If that didn't work, remove all wireless profiles stored in your computer, then re-add the SSID or wireless network that you wish to be connected to and make sure that you type in the correct pass-phrase.

An update will be appreciated.

Hi, I'm trying to install Intel Wireless Display Software (American, International) Rev.D 23 Sep 2014 downloaded from the HP support center for my computer. The installation starts but after a few seconds a message comes "The platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi. The Driver for wireless access can't find or download the necessary components for Intel WiDi". From the Intel website (http://ark.intel.com/products/81015/Intel-Core-i7-4510U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz) I can see that WiDi is supported for the processor I have. A:what wifi adapter is compatible with windows 8

Go to the manufacturer's website and see if there's an updated driver available.
I upgraded to Win 8 on a new computer that has a Ralink wireless card. It would only connect randomly. A trip to the Ralink site and newest driver solved the problem.

UPDATE: Here I found this - right near the top under downloads is a Win 8 beta driver. Read the instructions to install.

So I bought my laptop, a Pavilion 17-f113dx a little over 3 years ago.  I am swapping the drive for an ssd drive and I thought while I go to all the trouble of disassembling the laptop that I would change out the wifi card with a dual wifi/bluetooth card to improve wireless performance. I understand that there may be a whitelist in the bios of compatabile cards for a laptop this old.  Where would I be able to find that list?  Or is there a solution short of installing a hacked bios?

A:Compatible wifi dual card for 17-f113dx

Hi: There is no whitelist, but there is almost a bigger problem... 1. The notebook requires extensive disassembly to get to the wireless card.  If you can overcome that, then #2 is the killer. 2.  On most of these newer HP notebooks with single band wlan cards, there is only one antenna connected to the card, and there isn't a second one present. A dual band card such as the Intel 7260 N or AC requires 2 antennas to work. It will take even more disassembly including the display panel area to run the 2nd antenna. Do not rely on the picture in the service manual which normally shows two antennas. You will need to physically inspect your notebook's situation before buying a replacement card. If it has two antennas, then you are good to go. I would recommend the Intel 7260 dual band N or AC card for your 3 year old notebook.

Hi: There is no BIOS whitelist in your notebook. If your notebook currently has 2 antennas attached to the Ralink card, the I recommend you install either the Intel dual band wireless N or AC card.  I would get the N card if you don't have and don't plan on getting an AC router, or the AC card if you do have or plan on getting an AC router. Here are the descriptions and HP part numbers for both cards... Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0                 HP Part # 710661-001 Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi + BT4.0   HP Part # 717381-001

My fiancee and I currently have the Dell Inspiron 17R SE laptop with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230, and it has worked for a few months now up until the Monday of last week. While on the internet, my fiancee was noticing her wifi speed slowed down to a crawl. She performed speed tests to find out that the speed was not as high as it used to be. She updated drivers for the computer, as well as removed any clutter that would cause the wifi slowdown.
When we tried many options, they did not give us the results that we were looking for. Finally, after some process of elimination, we concluded that our wifi card needed a replacement. I don't want to get any old card to use and then find out that it doesn't fit or is not compatible with Windows 10. I have been taking my time to research what could be compatible to improve my laptop computer, but I have been coming up short.

What I would like to know is what wifi cards are compatible with our Dell computer so that we can get this replaced as soon as possible without having to pay out the nose for unneeded computer repair?

Hello everyone,

I just bought the Wireless N PCI Adapter (TL-WN851ND) from TP-LINK for my Windows 10 PC. It says that it's compatible for Windows 7/Vista/XP but it doesn't say Windows 10 on there. I thought that since it works on Windows 7, it will probably work on Windows 10 aswell, but since I inserted the card and have it running my computer freezes randomly and gives me a blue screen sometime later. The blue screen also says MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. Sometimes when I turn the PC on it will freeze and go to the blue screen while loading Windows 10.

Is there any possible way to make this adapter compatible for Windows 10 without it freezing all the time which leads to me having to reboot the computer over and over again?

When I tried to install the driver that came with the hardware it said that it doesn't work on this operating system (Windows 10).

Hi Guys,

I'm currently trying to work out a problem regarding my WiFi card on my L670-14M.

The old Wifi card died on us, so I decided to buy a Intel 7620 card to replace it. This installed fine, and is recognized by the device manager, and I can now find the wifi card in the adapter settings menu.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to go any further. The wireless logo in the corner appears, but with a red "X" through it.

I've tried:
Disabling and enabling the cardUsing the FN+F8 key combinationUpdating the BIOSRunning the troubleshooter (It tells me to switch on the WiFi capabilities via a switch on the computer or the FN keys. I have no switch and the FN key combination doesn't work.I've also attempted to clear the TCP/IP stack to no avail.

All I can guess now is that the card is either incompatible with this laptop, or maybe there's something in the registry that could be changed/removed to help? I've tried several different cards too (as this is a work laptop and we've bought the cards in bulk) and it's not due to a faulty card.

Today I tried installing an Intel 9560ngw Wireless-AC/Bluetooth 5.0 CNVi card in a friend's Lenovo Yoga 720 which was having WiFi range issues.  We discovered upon opening the laptop that the black antenna wire was not connected to his Yoga 720's Intel 8265ngw WiFi card, and this was causing the range issue, not a defective card.  However, we had the Intel 9560ngw CNVi card, and those cards aren't that expensive, so we decided to replace the 8265ngw with the 9560ngw anyway, since the laptop has a M.2:CNVio card slot.   After installing the 9560ngw card in the Yoga 720 we found that it would not show up in device manager, and no installation or edition of Intel drivers would get the card to work or be recognized.  We had to reinstall his 8265ngw card with bluetooth 4.2 (poo ). It appears the Yoga 720 has the CNVi slot but no CNVi compatibility.  Could be why it ships with a M.2 8265ngw wifi card.  Has anyone had success installing a CNVi WiFi card in a Lenovo Yoga 720?  Perhaps my friend had too old a Bios version?

Hey guys,

So, what i'm trying to do is create a wifi hotspot using my computer. In other words, turning my computer into a router. I'm wanting to do this so i can use my ipod at home instead of only when i'm around other wifi hotspots.

My computer is running off of a wired router, so that i can play online on my PS3 as well. I was told wifi doesn't work well with Ps3's normally so i just bought a wired router. So, the mainline internet cord is plugged into a wired router and then another line runs into my computer.

For some reason, after i make an adhoc connection, the computer is not sending the required information to the iPod so that it connects to the internet.

I've tried entering in the information into the Static tab in my ipod as well, and still only get Local Connection instead of Local and Internet.

This is what my connection looks like through the router using ipconfig /all:

Hi Cromsy,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as that. You are connected to the router fine with your computer, but that tells us nothing about the ipod because wireless is off (but that's not the whole story either - you need something extra to do what you want). The following article should tell you what you need and how to do it: How to Connect iPod Touch to Windows 7 Ad-hoc Wireless Network. Although it says Windows 7, there are procedures for Vista as well (and the software will work with Vista).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

i have cable internet that is connected to a belkin wireless router. one computer gets slow internet access when connected to this. multiple other computers get better speed. the one affected computer gets fast speeds when accessing the internet at other locations, like a friend's house. also, the affected computer gets fast speeds when connected to the router by a cable.

so the problem seems to be very specific to the connection between these specific devices.

the laptop in question is a thinkpad e420 running windows 7.

Okay, so my desktop is connected to the network by wifi to the wireless N (plus B and G) router. It connects to the internet fine and dandy. My iPhone can connect to the router, but drops the wifi signal most of the time. It doesn't seem to want to hold the connection because of either distance or interference from the wall or whatever.

What I want is to connect the iPhone's wifi to the computer for a stronger connection. But I don't want to move the router because it's centrally located and my office is kinda further away from it.

1 computer
1 802.11n wireless USB adapter connected to computer
1 802.11g wireless PCI adapter connected to computer
1 802.11n router connected to internet
1 iPhone with 802.11b/g connectivity
Is it possible to do this? I know what people have done it with one wired connection and a wireless connection from the computer. But can it be done with TWO wireless adapters connected to the computer?

Thanks in advance for any replies....

PS...I know it'd be easier to just use the computer to browse the internet since I'd be in the office anyway...but I work as a 3D modeler and alot of times I'm testing renders for scenes and such and can't stop the render without losing the progress. If I browse while it's rendering, it's possible I can crash the computer because of the heavy resources the 3D engine is already using.

A:Possible to connect iPhone's wifi to computer that is connected by wifi to the net?

Doesn't hurt (except maybe your time) to try. Get an ad-hoc wireless network working between computer and iPhone (using dynamic addressing). Then in Network Connections bridge the two wireless connections.

If it doesn't work, show the following for the computer before you bridge and when you have the bridge.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista type CMD in the Search box after Start)

Type the following command:

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Three years late.  The answer is "Yes!" The Lenovo Flex 2 14/15 can be upgraded with a compatible wireless-AC card. The card detailed below can be installed successfully in the Flex 2-14 and it's pretty much a plug-n-play device under Windows 10. Drivers are installed automagically so that the 2GHz and 5GHz wireless and Bluetooth can be accessed. I have two Lenovo Flex 2 laptops each running this exact wireless card. Make sure the wireless card you install matches the details listed below. Hi. I got a 2-3 year old Lenovo Yoga 500-14ACL laptop, Machine Type Model: 80NA002MMX, with the newest BIOS firmware from Lenovo, in which I got a Linux distro installed to a partition.  My only problem is, the WiFi does not work, as there are no drivers available for this card on Linux systems. I tried as a last resort to use a program called "ndiswrapper" to install the windows driver in my Linux distro with the help from Linux professionals, sadly it did not work. Now my only chance is to purchase a new WiFi card compatible with Linux distros (not a USB WiFi plug), so my question is, where is that "whitelist" which Lenovo has implemented into the BIOS online? I have searched online, but I cannot find a list containing compatible cards. I see many users has purchased cards previously without being aware that Lenovo reject certain cards, and that is exactly what many users report, the card is rejected by the BIOS, and the users are left with a card they can not use. Before I order a new WiFi card, I want to make sure the card I order is compatible in my laptop. I came from the store I bought the pc today, and the techicians there were very surpised that Lenovo in fact had such a list in their BIOS, and they were not aware about it until I informed them. They told me that all they could do is to contact Lenovo directly by mail, so they recommended I did that myself, in which this forum post is all about. What WiFi cards are in the BIOS'... Hi guys,
I would like to know if my computer is 64 bit compatible. I have done my side of the research on the internet but i am getting mixed results. Here is what i have seen.

When i check out the performance maintenance, it says " Yes " under 64-bit capable.

But when i checked out the registry it showed differently,

And in addition to that , i also checked msinfo32.exe and the result was this ,

All this has made it very confusing, i do not know if my system is capable to run windows 7 64 bit or not.

So just to be sure if my processor supported the feature , i googled "intel i3-530" and intels website said my processor is 64 bit compatible. If this is the case then why are the registry and msinfo32.exe showing differently ?

Thanks in advance.

A:Is My Computer 64 bit Compatible ?

Hello NeonSeven. Welcome to the forum.

You have the 32bit version of W7 installed, so your registry will contain the 32 bit entries. If you install the 64bit version those will change.

Ok, i have my computer connected to my plasma TV. For example, whenever i turn on my computer or if im playing a
game and "tab" down to get back to my desktop i have to turn on and off my TV.. is this because a plasma tv is not a reliable monitor?
Is it just that simple? Or is there some setting that i can change or modify that will allow me to do so without having to resart my TV.
btw, my TV says RGB not supported whenever i have to restart it.

A:Help with my computer being compatible with my TV.

Plasma / Flat tv resolution options
Resolution options: Your basic choices for native, or true resolution are the following:

VGA, or "640 x 480" ? This is the lowest data resolution currently on the market, and usually the least expensive.
SVGA, or "800 x 600" ? This is a popular resolution today, because most notebook computers are SVGA. Matching the plasma resolution with the computer resolution will produce the best results.
XGA, or "1,024 x 768" - XGA plasma tvs are generally more expensive, and are the second most popular resolution format. Many of the newest products are coming out in XGA. They are getting more popular as prices drop and the use of XGA notebook computers increases.
SXGA, or "1,280 x 1,024" ? SXGA products are high resolution, and notably more expensive than XGA. These products are targeted for high end personal computer users and low end workstation users. They are used primarily for command and control, engineering and CAD/CAM applications where acute resolution of small details is important.
UXGA, or "1,600 x 1,200" ? UXGA is for very high resolution workstation applications that are detail or information intensive. These are expensive plasma tvs that support a broad range of computer equipment. Relatively few products on the market have this native resolution. i dont think that rgb is a supported format for your needs. Regards grassy.

Is is possible for a desktop computer to not be compatible with a tv? I want dual monitors.

A:Can desktop computer not be compatible with tv?

It is possible yes, It would more likely be a problem with the TV not have the proper input ports or capable of the correct resolution. It could be the computer if the computer did not have to proper graphics adapter to support dual monitors. With out knowing what you have as far as a computer and a TV it is hard to tell.

Hello, My computer model number is E9Z18AV. I would like to find out what RAM Chips are compatible with my computer. I have an extra 4GB 2Rx8 PC3-10600S-9-10-F2 Chip. One source said this was another said it was not. I could not find this on the HP website.  Thanks in advanced,josht1

View Solution.

A:What RAM Chip is compatible with my computer?

This is the specified memory from the Manual: Memory modules (2, PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz): 2 GB memory module 691739-001 4 GB memory module 691740-001 This is what the 4 gig memory module looks like:  The memory you have is PC3-10600....that is sometimes called DDR3-1333 and it is a 1.5 volt module.  What you need is called DDR3L-1600. That is 1.35 volt memory so the module you have is slower and does not use the same voltage as the correct modules. The memory you have (4 gig module described in your post) should not be installed in your laptop.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Ok I am very new to building PCs so I apologise in advance

I have purchased computer parts that i thought would work together but alas I cannot get the PC to turn on, the parts I have are as followed:

Intel X58 Motherboard
Intel i7 920x Processor
XFX GeForces GTS250 Graphics Card
XFX 650 XXX Edition Power Supply
Western Digital Cavier Green 2TB Hard Drive

I then have a Samsung CD Drive and a Soundblaster 7.1 sound card but not sure if they are important.

All parts are brand new aswell

A:Are my computer parts compatible

They are compatible. I would not have chosen the WD Green at 2TB.

What CPU cooler do you have... did it come with the i7 ?
What memory modules ?
What operating system?

Doe you mean that it doesn't boot or that it does not turn on at all.?

You need a way to setup the hard drive. Do you have another hard drive available?

First thing to do is double check the setup of every component... when you are rested and relaxed...
