T480+TB3 dock gen2 usb keyboard doesn't work after resuming from sleep

Q: T480+TB3 dock gen2 usb keyboard doesn't work after resuming from sleep

So I just got a brand new Lenovo Thunderbolt3 Dock Gen2 to use with my lovely T480. The dock works ok but I have a big problem everytime I put my laptop to sleep at the end of the day. In the next day when I wake my machine (by pressing the power button on the Gen2 dock) my system wakes up fine but my external keyboard doesn't work.I have to reboot my laptop to get the keyboard working again. Anyone have dealt with the same problem with Lenovos docks? All drivers and firmwares are installed from Lenovos site and the Thunderbolt3 software (the older app not the new UWP) sees the dock fine. Tried to unplug and plug back the USB keyboard but still it doesn't recognize or work.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello,

I have a Dell XPS L702X (i5 -2.3 Ghz, 6GB RAM) laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit that has been giving me issues for some time now and I haven't been able to find a solution. Windows explorer works fine when I start the computer. However, after resuming from sleep, 90% of the time trying to open any explorer window (my computer, my docs, etc.) will not work. I can open up documents within their respective applications (a word doc by opening word first, for example). But double clicking folders doesn't do anything, neither from the desktop nor from the start menu. When this happens, I've noticed 2 instances of explorer running in the task manager, in order to get it to work again I have to force quit both of them and log off. When I log on again, it usually works again. HOWEVER, if I leave an explorer window open before putting the laptop in sleep mode, it works fine upon resuming.

All drivers are up to date, as well as the Bios version. This has been driving me crazy for some time, would appreciate if anyone has an solution. Thanks!

I have a new T480 and Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 dock. I find that often when I close--but in no way shut down--the computer for the night, when I restart in the morning, it completely restarts, so I lose open tabs, unsaved work, etc. I can understand enough of the system event log to determine that the computer always goes to sleep when I close it, then, per the power plan, hibernates three hours later--or at least tries to. The first sign of trouble in the logs comes at the time of hibernation. For example, at 2:37:25 this morning there is the routine Information event, "The system is entering sleep. Sleep Reason: Hibernate from Sleep - Fixed Timeout." This is followed immediately by the warning, "6105 - deauth after EAPOL key exchange sequence". Over the next 5 minutes come two more warnings and eight errors. Then nothing until I start the machine in the morning. One of the first events on restart is the information message, "The last shutdown's success status was false. The last boot's success status was true." It appears to me that this only happens if the computer is plugged into the Thunderbolt 3 dock overnight. To the dock are connected a (gigabit) ethernet cable, a displayport monitor, a mouse, a keyboard, and a pair of headphones. Here is a fuller dump of the error log at the last time it was hibernating, or trying to: Level Date and Time Source Event ID Task CategoryError 7/30/2018 2:41:33 AM Microsoft-Windows-DistributedCOM 10010 None The server {3EB... I have this exact issue:

A Bluetooth device stops working, and you receive error code 43 together with event 17 after you resume a computer that is running Windows 7 from sleep

It used to happen sometimes on Win 7 32 bit, I've now changed to Win 7 64 bit and I can replicate it everytime I put the machine in and out of sleep.

The only way to fix is to use a different USB mouse to go into Device Manager and disable/re-enable the bluetooth device.

The reason for my post is that I requested the hotfix, yet upon trying to install it, I get a message telling me that it's not applicable for my PC?

Win 7 64 bit Home Premium, SP1, with all available Windows updates installed.

Any further ideas?

Thanks

A:Bluetooth doesn't work after resuming from S3

Usually power state errors like this can be resolved through driver updates too.
Have you pursued seeking driver updates via the company that provided the device?

The helix keyboard dock does not stop consuming power when the computer is put to sleep. While it is unrealistic to expect the battery life to remain at the same % overnight, but to have a 50% loss in battery power to the keyboard dock is not acceptable. Sleep mode does put the tablet into a power saving mode, but the keyboard dock does not sleep. Is there a fix for this somewhere and I am missing it? All of the power saving apps and settings only seem to apply to the tablet itself.

I also have the Plugable UD-ULTCDL with my 2016 Spectre 13", 13-W0XXX. I occassionally get the nag to use the HP charger, but it seems to work fine through the dock/USB-C. However, I have it set to never sleep when on the charger. But it instead does a complete shut-down several times per day. Sometimes it's after 15 minutes, sometimes half a day. But I lose any unsaved work when it happens. I don't know if it's shutting down, or crashing. I don't get any error message when I power it back up so it looks like it just auto shutdown.  I travel quite a bit but am less apt to have it on for 4+ hours at a time on the road. Still, I've never seen this when it wasn't on the dock. Any ideas? Anyone else seen this? It's otherwise fine. It's clunky on power-up because I have to open the notebook to log-in  then wait for a bunch of screen flashes before the external monitors come up. That's sloppy compaed to previous docks, but I can live with it. But I can't live with the auto-shutdown and lost work. Thanks for your help. sp

My system was never able to resume from sleep. Tried several things, BIOS settings, settings for power management etc.
Thought it could be related to recovery software or other installed drivers etc.

But now: I replaced my harddisk with a SSD, did a fresh install of W7 Ultimate 64. Removed all possible hardware (tv card, usb devices except keyboard / mouse). Tried fail save options in BIOS and optimized settings as well but no luck.
Got most windows updates in place, installed all the latest drivers from the motherboard and graphics card, latest bios drivers and still getting BSOD.

Who can help me solving this so I can save lots of energy.
Followed the manual to attach zip file with minidumps etc. Please let me know when additional info is required.

Details about what happens:
When I put my system into sleep it goes well. When I try to wake my system:
often nothing happens and I have to shut it down holding start button
or I get back my desktop but within a few seconds I get a BSOD.

If I have seen it well I posted several minidumps, so I hope it is not too difficult to find the ones related to the resume from sleep.
Kind regards,

Michel

A:BSOD while resuming from sleep, or not resuming from sleep at all

Welcome aboard

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

I have a user with two LT3053s (2560 x 1600) and his previous T440 + Ultra Dock (I believe) supported the full resolution at 60 Hz (again I believe).  I upgraded him to a T480 and our standard Type-c dock that we deploy limited the screens to 1920x1080 @ 60Hz.  After this and complaints from the user of headaches from the drop in resolution we purchased a TB3 Gen 2 Dock and even after plugging the dock in to the actual TB3 port on the laptop (not the top type-c port) we are having issues with not all of his devices working, namely the kb+m. Any ideas here?  Right now we are running it with the 135W power adapter that it came with, but there is also another power adapter available that did not come with the unit we purchased.

For the last month or so, every time I log off my account, the keyboard does not register at the Windows Log In screen. This makes it so I have to restart the computer and then it works fine.
There are three accounts on the computer, the casing has been half removed for the last 3 months, a DVD burner and driver recently installed 3 months ago and I am using a wireless off brand USB keyboard and mouse.
OS: Windows Xp Home Edition 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
As for the second part, the computer requires several restarts to boot up, sometimes up to twenty minutes of turning on and off to boot up. Only started doing this a week ago.

A:My Keyboard doesn't work, and the computer turns on but doesn't start.

It sounds like something is wrong with your Windows XP drivers. Something like that happened to me while building my computer, and when I boot up the keyboard did not work because my copy of windows XP was bad. You could try reinstalling windows XP, and It might work better, but I dont have a definite answer to your problem.

A few days ago I was prompted to install an urgent BIOS update.  I followed the screen prompts and the system rebooted and flashed the BIOS.  Our company laptops all have Sophos encryption, which requires a separate login prior to booting the OS (Win7).  I've always been able to enter user ID and password information on that screen using the USB keyboard connected to my OneLink+ dock (which is connected to the laptop). Following this BIOS update, I can no longer use the keyboard or mouse (also USB) connected to the OneLink+ dock until the OS boots.  I have to open my laptop, enter my Sophos ID and password on the laptop keyboard, then close the laptop.  Once the OS (Win7) boots, I can use both the USB devices fine.  Interestingly enough, the monitor attached to the OneLink+ dock functions just fine before the OS boots up. I checked BIOS settings and couldn't see anything there that looked odd or out of place.  I also checed Device Manager to see if there were any warnings or issues, and didn't see anything. I tried to downgrade the BIOS to an earlier version, but once you are above 1.23 that is not possible.  I did flash to the latest release - 1.27 - but that did not fix the issue. So I'm stuck with a rather awkward login process which was not an issue until this BIOS version was installed a few days ago.  I've reviewed other post for similar issues but have not found anything that points at a solution thus far... Hi, I've got a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 (1.5 yrs old; Intel core 2 CPU 2.33GHz; 2GB RAM) with Vista Business (SP1 32bit) and often when I put it to sleep, it will hang or crash on resume forcing me to to do a hard shut down. Sometimes the screen will just be totally black and hang, and sometimes it will get to vista's "resuming" splash screen or even the login screen and then hang/crash. Often the disk activity LED will remain on indefinitely (due to the hang) even though I can't hear any disk activity. As far as I'm aware all my drivers are up to date. I'm just so fed up with loosing documents and personal settings now I've got to do something about it, and from googling, it seems this is a pretty widespread problem but I've not come across a solution that's worked for me - I've even installed the extra KB patch that was meant to fix it.

Also, sometimes when I put it to sleep (fully charged) and not use it for a a few hours, I find that the laptop has lost power during sleep because the battery has been run flat and the ventilation grille feels warm, even though I know that the battery can normally last much much longer on sleep. Is it possible that the computer resumed itself from sleep to hibernate after 200 mins on battery (as my power settings dictate) and then crashed whilst resuming, causing it to drain itself flat (since it my laptop should have entered automatic hibernation on the critical battery warning unless it was unable to respond)? Hello, I'm the owner of an EliteBook 8560p running under Windows 7 Professional 64 bits Edition. I started the installation from scratch with a driver-empty Windows. I've downloaded the drivers separately on the HP Support Website. Everything is running fine but when I put my computer to sleep (normal stand-by mode) I am unable to wake it up from the keyboard keys or trackpad buttons. The only way I can wake it up is by pressing the Power Button. Then it wakes up normally and I go back to the Windows 7 login screen. Is it possible to wake up this computer by pressing a key instead of the power button ? I don't want to press it too often. For example on my old Acer Aspire 5315, pressing a key wakes up the computer instantly. Also, I have no "Allow this device to wake up computer" option in my Device Manager.I can't find this option in the BIOS neither. Can you wake your HP Notebook computer by pressing the keyboard ? Is there a way to do that on EliteBooks ? Thanks and sorry for my mistakes, English is not my mother language.

A:Keyboard doesn't wake up computer from sleep

If you have an external display, it will stop the computer from waking. Disconnect display port cable and try again. Also, check your drivers so that Power Mgmt. allows mouse or keyboard to wake system. I have found these issues effect my HP 8460P as well as HP 2540P. Also, make sure that the BIOS allows USB to wake system.

(the version insalled and active was 1.41.565.0) I reinstalled TB SW 17.4.78.500 and performed the TB3 dock FW upgrade. Now I am in the situation I do not have a Thunderbolt SW application to allow/select TB devices to connect.V1.41.565.0 seems to be a new DCH driver. reverting back to the legacy driver 17.4.78.500 is not somethig I should have done.It seems the DCH driver came with it's own Thunderbolt SW application, which is no longer available. Is there a procedure to completly reinstall the DCH driver including the Thunderbold SW or revert back to the legacy driver with Thunderbold SW (which now states the application is not in use anymore) Thanks!

Dear all, having just updated my the firmware of my Ultra Dock (40AJ0135EU) via Lenovo Vantage to V5.0.6.1, there is now something truly wrong with the power supply; on startup, I am greeted by the famous "low wattage" screen and when using windows, the battery is slowly drained (Lenovo Vantage claims that a 25 W USB-C adapter would be connected instead of the 135 W one). The issue never occurred prior to the firmware update and consistently shows up for any other power cable (trying several ones, including 90 W). So while the "low wattage" screen is annoying, the more severe issue is the constantly drained battery which makes using the dock basically impossible over time. Any ideas? I did not find a way to undo the firmware update - or is the recommendation to wait and hope for yet-another firmware update that (may) solve the issue? Maybe someone has a similar issue and a better / working solution Thx!

By chance did airplane power mode get turned on? The only way I know to check this is in the Lenovo "Vantage" tool

I have a T480 with Windows 10 Pro connected to a Dell U3415W monitor via a DisplayPort to HDMI cable via a 40AJ0135US Ultra Dock (DisplayPort side connected to the docking station, HDMI connected to the monitor).  While using this setup, I will occasionally (sometimes quite frequently) get black-outs in the monitor for a few seconds and then the display returns without issue.  Its extremely annoying and interrupts my work.  Often, restarting the laptop will help resolve it for a while but it always returns in some fashion. I have run the ThinkPad Docking Station FW updater and it said everything is up to date.  Additionally, Lenovo System Update is 100% updated.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I cant seem to locate a fix for my lenovo t480. I cannot get any usb ports to register through the dock. I have tried reinstalling usb drivers through device manger, updating dock firmware, updating all lenovo system drivers , changing power adaptor through the dock and re seating it multiple times. I have other t480's that work on this dock. The usb's work fine on the actual laptop just not the dock. Any help would be apreciated. Thank you!

Hi,

Could you please help me with this issue. Basically whenever I want to put my PC to sleep or hibernate, the monitor goes black but the computer keeps running. I can hear at least one HDD power down, but the rest of the hardware keeps going, all the fans (CPU, GPU, case), lights etc. I can try clicking the mouse buttons, pushing some keys - nothing; it will keep running until I reset it or cut the power off.
Also, sometimes, when I try to put it to sleep and it works, the problem is that it doesn't stay asleep for too long and it turns on by itself after 5-30mins.

I had suspected it was a messed up Windows, but recently I also formatted my drive and installed a clean Windows and the issue is still there. So I suspect either some program preventing sleep/hibernate or a faulty hardware (if it's possible, because I really don't know how it works).

My computer recently updated automatically and ever since then it does not sleep properly. Instead of sleeping and being able to resume quickly on wake-up, the computer has to boot up as if it were switched off. I've changed all the power settings to try ensure that the hard drive doesn't shut down just to test, I've updated the drivers and still nothing is resolved. Once I restart the computer the power settings revert back to the original settings. It's really frustrating having to restart the computer and every programme  if I leave my computer for 20 inutes to do something else.  Please help

Hello,

I've bough a Dell Inspiron 1564 with win7 home premium x64 last month and everything was fine until a few days ago, when sleep mode stopped working. When I close my lid and open it up after some time there are 2 things that might happen:
1. The screen is just black, all the buttons are lit, I hear the fan, but no reaction at all. So I just forcibly turn off and turn it on again.
2. After opening the lid, nothing happens, when I try to turn it on, it loads up, but informs me that windows has not shut down properly last time (or something like that).

Thanks

First try to fix the problem with system restore
If that does not work, check this tutorial
