I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Good Day Everyone..

I am having this problem.. well on standby the local area network shows it has network 2 but when I opened any browser or use an application that uses the internet it goes unplugged, enable and then identifying... as the results I will get a message of no internet connection in the browser but after that it will stay on network 2 message again like its fine...

I tried to ping google.com -t and it seems it doesn't go unplugged, enable and identifying.. it is pinging well..

nothing changes even if I change the settings in the speed & duplex.

I also tried ipconfig /release and /renew.. /flushdns

it is like this for 3 days now then I am rebooting the canopy yesterday.. changing some settings to forced and it kinda worked.. though it goes unplugged, enabled and identifying again.. once per hour I think... then this morning this problem is back again....

edit: ok I just noticed now when I use ipconfig /all
the media state are disconnected even though it says network 2 in the local area network.. also the enabled word... in the window is blinking...

Hi,

I wonder what'd happen if I unplug the desktop tower cord from the power surge or electric outlet? Will I lose what I have in tower? I unplugged the desktop monitor cord from the power surge several times and nothing was lost, but I am not sure about the tower cord. The reason is because I need to move the table around in the room and need to unplug the cords. I am sure nothing will be lost if unplugging tower cord from the power surge or outlet because the table needs to be moved around in the room, something else like moving out of the house, etc if you know what I mean.

Also, what would happen if unplugging the cords from the desktop monitor and tower themselves, not from power surge/outlet? Would everything be lost? Much thanks.

A:Unplugging cords

Save everything, then turn everything off, using the approved procedure and then you can unplug.
As always, your important stuff should always be backed up. An unexpected improper shut down, and stuff can be lost.
Stuff can be lost for other reasons, too.

So recently, my Y40-80 started to shut down immediately after i unplug the power source. At first, i figured it's due to my battery, so i got a new one and got rid of the old one. But the problem still exists. I've called in to Lenovo support and they said my warranty doesn't cover this, so it'll be due to charge, which i think is ridiculous since if it's a hardware failure, i do not see why i should be charged just because i don't have the original battery. Anyways, i've tried reformatting and that did not work. Anyone out there could help me please? Appreciate it!

A:Y40-80 shuts down upon unplugging

Hi rx24race ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would the new battery be a direct purchase from Lenovo or declared genuine replacement Lenovo battery ?
Within the warranty coverage would be the original parts that came with the machine.

As you mentioned that with a new battery you are still having the same issue but since this would be a charging issue , it is yet to be investigated if it was the systemboard or battery itself is the fault.

Option that I suggest is to have it taken perhaps to service provider like best buy that can check with a certified compatible battery and have them assist you on having it serviced or to call in directly using the same case number you were provided.

Update us on how it would work best for your situattion.

Regards

Getting ready to do the install on my new SSD with some trepidation. I have Raptors in Raid 0 right now and would like to simply unplug them, set the BIOS to AHCI and use the 0 port for the SSD experiment/potential fiasco. What I hope to be able to do if the SSD doesn't like me, is to unplug it, set the BIOS back to Raid, plug in the Raptors and pretend the whole thing never happened. Does this stand a chance of working?

A:Plugging and Unplugging!

I wouldnt unplug the raptor raid - if you use intel raid (the one i'm sure of and probably similar, or the same for others) when you enable raid in the bios it also enables AHCI - so you should be good to go with testing the ssd drive - just unplugging a raid array can be very hard to set up again - i did it years ago and it was a miracle i got it back up and going again (that included reinstalling the OS) so not recommended - it also depends what options are available in the raid rom (i think its called) which you set it up in before you install the OS. From memory, which is bad, the problem was it couldnt recognise one or both the drives.
It depends on your motherboard I guess but for mind it should be ok - running raid and using the same controller to use a ssd drive in AHCI mode - but treat this as my opinion - you should be able to find information on your motherboards site, or intel etc's, site. Or wait for more replies as Im uncertain and more repies means more suggestions.
If it has 2 controllers eg intel and jmicron use the JMICRON if it supports AHCI to be on the safe side.

I've recently acquired a digital camera, and have been testing snaps then putting them into the PC for editing. When I remove the lead, I get the "Unsafe Removal Of Device" window pop up warning me about not stopping the device properly. Now this has never caused me any issues when unplugging any USB hardware.

So my question is, can the warning be disabled totally? Every time I unplug the camera the window pops up and wants to place its icon in the system tray. It's starting to get on my nerves!

Thanks in advance

Hi all, I've been having this weird problem and this site looked like a good place to ask about it because of the support I've seen. So wooooo first post~!
Anyway, whenever I unplug one certain flash drive (a Kingston DataTraveller SE9) my laptop bluescreens with the error "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". I can't figure out why for the life of me! I did, however, figure out that the flash drive is recognized as a local disk and not a removable one. This issue only applies to my laptop, that's it; the drive works perfectly fine on any other computer. I can still read and write to it no problem. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

A:Unplugging Certain USB Drive Causes BSOD

Some USB flash drives act like a hard drive which Windows lists as local disk instead of removable. You will notice that when you delete anything on the USB drive labeled local the deleted items go to the recycle bin. On a USB flash drive labeled removable the items are not sent to the recycle bin.

Download USBdeview. Run the program Highlight any listing for Kingston DataTravler and press the red X to remove. Reboot the computer and attach the Kingston again. Do you get the error?

Based on the blue screen info and the searches I have done on the error, it seems there is something wrong with the Nvidia drivers? I have went to every resource I could to make sure all drivers are up to date.. but nothing seems to be working.

I have been trying to troubleshoot this for a while.. but I kept giving up. I am turning to the fourms for help since I can come up with no solution.

Here are the computer specs - required files are attached. Please let me know if I need to provide anything else. Thanks in advance!

I have had trouble shutting down a computer I am building. It goes through the motions then says its okay to turn off your computer now. All the fans are still running and I assume by the okay to turn off your computer now message which has a windows logo on it, the HD is still spinning. Hitting the power buttons just causes the computer to restart. There is no way to shut this computer down.

If I am unable to resolve this issue, how bad is it to turn off the computer by unplugging it? What I would really be doing is adding a power strip with an on/off button to shut the computer down.

Thanks

So this bug seems to only happen about 50% of the time when I unplug USB devices from my computer. When I play certain games I have to unplug my racing wheel and flight sticks and doing so sometimes causes my computer to start beeping and stuttering. The beeping and stuttering only happens when I either move the mouse or click a button on the mouse so I am wondering if it's got something to do with the mouse but I've had the mouse for a while and have only encountered this bug fairly recently. Anyone heard of this before? Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Use Clean boot,

Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,

Yesterday, I was on my computer, when I decided to unplug a USB connection to my printer off from a USB port at the top of my PC. Upon doing so, my monitor went blank, and I think I heard the fan levels increase. My keyboard lit up all of the lights, which only ever happens while the computer is booting up.

I waited for a while for the display to return, but nothing happened, so I attempted to manually shut it off by holding the power button down. Nothing happened. I managed to unplug the cord, to turn off the PC. Upon plugging it back in, the PC would not start.

So far, I have concluded that, the power socket and the cable both are fine. The GPU LED light is also not on. I checked the connections to the motherboard from the power supply and they seemed all in place. I also ran the 'paperclip' test on the Power Supply, which worked. I moved the RAM sticks to different slots, and even took out the memory, but didn't hear any sounds or notice any power.

Interestingly, the LED power light on the case seems to occasionally work. Hoping that the issue is not the motherboard.

Motherboard: MSI Z97 G55 SLI

A:Unplugging the fan on a GeForce FX 5200

Not a good idea.

If it has a fan it probably means it produces a lot of heat. The heatsink alone might be okay if you don't do anything GPU intensive, but you'll probably encounter overheating problems during gaming.

Hi,
I recently unplugged my computer from the wall (actually, I unplugged the surge protected power strip from the wall) because I was doing some electrical work and didn't want my computer to see a surge in case I made any mistakes. When I plugged the computer back in, I began to see strange behavior. There seem to be "artifacts", for lack of a better word since I'm not overclocking anything, during startup and after booting. The text is all messed up, showing the wrong letters and symbols, and the asus screen is screwed up too. After booting, there are discolorations and severe misalignments, and the monitor going black and coming back repeatedly. I tried resetting the power strip, plugging the power directly into the wall, and cleaning out the dust in the box.

The problem comes and goes, sometime more sever than others and sometimes all is OK, and I can't figure out what is causing it. All temps are OK (GPU is 42 idle, CPU is 29). Specs are as follows:
Mobo: Asus A8N-SLI
CPU: AMD 3700 San Diego
GPU: EVGA 7800 GT
PSU: Antec Truepower 2.0 550
Mem: 2x512 Corsair XMS
1 DVD drive, 4 hard drives, stock cooling (with 1 extra hard drive fan)
Old Gateway CRT monitor (using DVI-Analog adapter)
No overclocking on CPU or GPU

Right now everything is fine and the Asus PC Probe shows the following voltages, pretty much rock solid :

When I close the lid of my computer, it makes the alert noise as if you unplugged a device. When I open the lid, it makes the alert noise as if you plugged in a new device. The screen takes a few seconds to turn on, and all of my windows which were open will be resized, and all of my desktop icons are rearranged.Happens every time I open or close the lid, and it's been about a week now.About two months ago, I actually sent this in to Lenovo for some repair from a drop, and they replaced just some plastic parts of the shell and the keyboard. It worked fine when I got it back, and once the screen is on, it continues to work fine. I'm mentioning this because I don't think the screen is becoming physically unplugged, it looks like it is in top shape after the repairs. Any thoughts?-Matt

(Edit - Subject should read 'Microsoft Camera Wizard does not work anymore with Canon digital camera')

I have a Canon SD 700 IS digital camera bought about 15 months ago. Until recently, I could connect it to the USB port (same one each time and that port is not used for anything else) of my Windows XP PC (1 year old, bought new) and the Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard would appear allowing me to use that software to transfer my digital pictures to my PC. Now, that does not work. I tried reinstalling the Canon EOS utility that came on a CD with my camera - no success in getting pictures transferred with that. The only way I can get the pictures to transfer, is to open Windows Explorer, the camera shows up under My Computer, but if I right click on Get pictures highlighting the camera listing, after multiple trys and 30 minutes, I get the few dozen pictures to transfer.

Anyone know what to try? I am suspecting it has to do with a recent overhall of my PC anti-spyware and security software (details below) as was using Lavasoft and Spybot before and found them becoming less effective. My computer is anti-malware free as far as I know from anti-spyware scans with multiple products (at least twice weekly) and real-time protection and anti-virus scans a little less frequently which Zone Alarm has never from day one found any viruses.

The computer is recognizing the camera in the USB port (it is enabled) and camera powered on and has no issues when taking pictures.... Read more

Got a new Canon camera which uses its own program to download pictures to the computer (Gateway MX6930) running XP (sp3) and have had no problems. Tried to download some pics from my older Sony camera which used to bring up the Camera Wizard allowing me to title each shot with a name and number but that no longer happens. I plug in the Sony (USB cable) and nothing. It shows up on Explore and right clicking does not get me to the Scanner and Wizzard start-up screen that would allow me to select the photos I want and to name them as they are put on the hard drive. When I search through Scanners & Cameras and click on "Add an imaging device" the "Scanner & Camera Installation Wizzard" starts but Sony is not listed so I cannot select it. I can click on "Have Disk" but the CD that came with the Sony does not have the file it needs. The only thing on the CD (besides photo programs) is a USB driver which I did download but didn't help...... HOWEVER I have had MS Word refuse to start a week or so ago and I tried reinstalling but didn't work, I found an MS site that showed me how to repair the Word registry and that worked OK. This makes me suspect - maybe something has happened to the registry. I can't go there so I decided to ask for your help.... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...

A:Cannot find MS Scanner & Camera Wizard to download photos from camera

Either camera should show up in "My Computer" when connected via USB ...
Where you can explore the files and copy>paste (drag>drop) them to a folder in your computer.
Can you get your pics this way ????

Running an HP Pavillion slimline S5123W. My daughter accidently removed a USB device without using the USB shut down promt. Now the computer gives an HP blue screen with the F10,ESC (Boot Menu),F9 and F11 prompts (that don't work when chosen, except F10 and only very slowly sometimes) which goes to another black screen saying Warning USB device over current detected Please remove over current USB device. System will shut down in 20 seconds. Even though there is not a USB device in USB slot. We have rebooted, done a cold boot (with complete unplug) and still the same thing. Will it be necessary to remove the USB slot or disconnect? If so, how do I do that? What can we do to be able to use the computer again? Right now it is off and unplugged.

Thanks, Alabamasweet

A:Forgot to shut down USB device before unplugging

Try going into Device Manager...then deleting the USB controllers only (not hubs, not devices). Then reboot.

Twice today when debugging network issue, I unplugged ethernet cable from router and got BSODs. I ultimately swapped out the router to get network back up.

I have lost network connection almost daily, and cannot disable/enable the adapter. Must reboot to fix... and reboot takes 10-15 minutes before shutdown.

FWIW I am also having right-click Win explorer issues as well. Don't know if any of these are related.

Many thanks

All of the Driver power state crashes were related to theCitrix Network Enhancer Miniport or Cisco VPN client. Yours is from 2008. Update to something win 7 compliant.

Hope someone can help, and if this is a really daft idea that will never work please get it deleted before someone I know reads it!! As you will discover I know nothing at all about broadband and next to nothing about computers...

We can't get broadband yet in our area, but it will be available in a couple of months and we hope to get it then. I've read quite a bit about the security implications of the computer being always connected to the internet with broadband, and wondered whether a way round this would be to unplug it or whatever when we aren't using it. Is this possible, and are there any drawbacks please??

At the moment I run Norton Antivirus, AdAware SE Plus, Spybot S+D, Spyware Blaster and CCleaner and update them religiously - any others that would be worth adding to that list while I've got your attention please?

Thanks in advance, Moose.

I've had Win7 for a few months now (thanks to MSDN Academic Alliance) but I've just recently started having this problem. I'm running Win7 Professional on my HP HDX16 laptop. My laptop basically runs flawless when plugged into AC power. When I unplug it, however, CPU usage skyrockets to 95%-100%. I managed to look at the task manager one time at noticed that it isn't necessarily one process that is crippling my computer; It's more like 4 or 5 programs that run around 20 CPU and the rest of the processor is used by various other programs. The process hogging programs vary sometimes, but it usually includes audiodg (audio device graph), mcshield (Mcafee), and a few other svchost (usually Win Defender, Win Firewall and AudioEndpointBuilder). I have the IDT HD audio card for those wondering (and all of the latest drivers from HP). Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this?

A:Windows 7: 100% CPU Usage After Unplugging AC Power

This is Windows 7 switching to battery mode and the power saving parts of those programs are being turned on. Because they are trusted services they get CPU priority
If you find this CPU overload a nuisance, switch power mode from power saver option (type 'power mode' into run box found from start button to get quick link to power options)

Hi all,

I recently bought a pair of Sennheiser HD555 which work great, the only thing is that if I want to use them I have to disconnect my speakers (Logitech Z-2300) from the sound card (Xtremegamer) and plug the headphones into the same socket.

As my speakers are 2.1 they connect to the sound card via one cable. It appears they only work in this one particaler socket as does the headphones. I assume the others are for 5.1 and 7.1 setups.

The speakers came with a little controller for volume and power, but it also has a socket for headphones but when I tried that it didn't make a difference. My keyboard (Tarantula) also has a socket for headphones which doesn't seem to work either. Even the front of my case (P182) has a socket but not joy.

In the settings for the speakers in control panel I clicked automatically detect headphones and mute speakers on detection. I have no idea why it wont work.

Any suggestions? Its a pain in the *** having to reach the back of the pc and disconnect the speakers and plug in the headphones each time

Thanks in advance!

I recently started playing WoW again after almost a year, and now my computer has suddenly started getting bluescreens when I play. It has also sometimes got bluescreens when I unplug my Line 6 UX2 soundcard, which has been going on for a while. I have never got bluescreens when I play WoW until now. So I would like to get some help analyzing what's wrong. My computer has also since I installed this version of Windows 7 occasionally shut down or rebooted randomly without even giving me a bluescreen. I don't know if this can be fixed, but if you can help me with that too, it would be great.

I've got Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. It's not the original OS installed on my computer, I used Windows XP Professional 32-bit as my first OS and then the Windows 7 Beta before upgrading to this version. It's an OEM-version, I got it installed with my current HDD when I bought it. The age of my hardware is almost exactly three years, and I've used this OS and my current HDD for about one and a half years.

Would be very grateful if you could help me! Thanks!

My problem is this, my motherboard is Biostar TP67B and I have downloaded the sound drivers from the manufacturer website which is realtek high definition audio. However, If i had left my headphone plugged into my front panel jack and when I restart my computer, the headphone icon keeps flickering saying its plugged and unplugged constantly when it is in fact plugged in. I had tinker around a little bit and I have no idea how to fix this problem now. Its going bad to worse as it unplugs itself randomly now. I'm trying to go for a full reinstall of my sound drivers.

A:Headphones Plugging and Unplugging constantly bug

Have you tried a different headphone? Maybe the headphone and not the PC or headphone jack.

If not the headphone, check the connection from the front panel at the motherboard, May be a bad connection there. Reseat (unplug then plug back in) the connector at the motherboard. If it still has problems I would suspect the front panel headphone jack, or the wiring.

Hello! I have been looking online for websites where I can get help for my laptop. I have a Toshiba Satellite L55-C5272. I broke the screen, and replaced it. Then I had one other issue, every time I remove the charger from the laptop, my laptop automatically shuts down. Even with 100% battery. I dont' know what the cause of this is, but I do know I was not messing with the battery. This laptop is about 2 months old, and I don't know what else to do.

If you have any advice or suggestions, you may email me at [email protected]

Thank you for your time,

Hey all. Sorry if this question has really obvious solution but I've been bashing my head against this for a few hours this afternoon and am getting nowhere.

I have downloaded the Win7 RC1 ISO and "burnt" it onto a 16GB OCZ Throttle eSATA / USB drive (exactly as in the SevenForums tutorial). I can boot from this drive and install Windows with no problem.

But... I believe the 200MB system partition is somehow being placed on the flash drive, because once I disconnect it and attempt to boot, I get the standard "DISK BOOT FAILURE..." message.

I've followed the suggestions on the "How to avoid 200MB hidden system partition" page (i.e., pre-create the desired partitions on the installation drive rather than installing to unallocated space), but I'm still getting the problem.

The "Windows might create additional partitions..." dialog box popped up once, on my first installation attempt - and I did foolishly click "OK" to it. It hasn't appeared since for me to click "Cancel" to, however much I try deleting and remaking partitions

Has anything changed in RC1 regarding the system partition? Is it more persistent in creating it than it was with the Beta? If anyone could give me some tips I would be very grateful indeed Thanks!

A:No boot after unplugging setup drive

The 100MB partition is for Repair purposes and should automatically be a part of the installation hard disk (even though it's an alltogether seperate partition).

You may want to check to see what disk the partition has been assigned to, run Computer Management from the start menu search box. See the screenshot and you'll notice that each disk is broken up into partitions (see highlight for Disk 0).

As for changing this option i'll look more closely into it for you
