I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I sent this laptop in for repair awhile ago and I just noticed that my computer doesn't recognize my dedicated NVIDIA 650m graphics card. It's not avalible in device manager or anything. It's as if it doesn't exist. I've started doing some work where I really need it and I'm stuck with the integrated graphics. I've ensured every drive is up to date, I've tried downloading drivers from NVIDIA's website, and I've tried downloading HP's posted Windows 8 drivers (there's nothing for WIndows 10). Nothing has worked so far.

Hello, As the subject line mentions that I have HP Pavilion dv6t 7000 CTO quad core entertainment PC. I read in the maintenance guide that HMDI 1.4, which laptop has, supports 4k resolution. But for some reason when I connect my 4k TV to the laptop, the maximum I am getting is 1080p. How can I get 4k resolution?

Hi: What model wireless network adapter does your notebook have? Most likely the bluetooth radio on the wireless adapter is not compatible with W10, but let me know the model, and I will see if there is a W10 driver that may work. If you don't know what model wireless adapter your notebook has, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

I replaced the screen on my Pavilion dv6, and to do that I had to take off the sticker that is over the display speakers. Now I would like to replace the sticker as it doesn't sit flat against the computer. In the manual the part is named display bezel screw cover (pdf page 98, booklet page 90) On the PartSurfer, under the display options it says "Speaker mesh sticker needed". So those are the two names I have found for this item. But I do not know how to obtain it.

A:How can I get a Pavilion dv6t-7000 Speaker Mesh Sticker?

Did this not get an answer? I need one too and have only found price gougers wanting over $30 for the sticker. The stupid replacement screen cost only $75! Curse you HP! It is bad design to put screws behind non-replaceable stickers! Shame on your product managers for allowing such an explicit design flaw...

Hi just got my new laptop yesterday , DV6t-7000, and before posting my problem I've search everywhere include these forums for a solution.  I've all ready updated the bios, and updated the 650m with the newest drivers from HP's website.  I know that in the bios under "system configuration" there should be an option to change from "dynamic" to "fixed" graphics, but that option isn't there.  Was looking forward to using this laptop for gaming, but was thinking that since I'm still within my 21 days that I should just return the laptop and maybe wait until they fix this issue.

Hello, I've been having this problem 2 days ago and it's a bit frustrating. I was just playing some games when it suddenly restarted automatically. My device manager doesn't seem to acknowledge my graphics card anymore for some apparent reason. I've tried plugging my monitor in my graphics card and it just seems like on a standby mode with the blank screen showing nothing. But when I plug my monitor to my motherboard port it shows up fine and is in the device manager. I've tried cleaning my drivers with "Driver Sweeper" then reinstalling the lastest driver for my graphics card, but that didn't do anything. I was hoping if anyone knows what's wrong with my graphics card . Thank you.

Is my graphics card burnt/broken?

A:System doesn't detect Graphics Card

OK first of all there are no drivers for Windows 7 supporting you card. Your card is not even supported by Windows Vista as support has been removed, therefore, the reason for the problems you have been experiencing is a driver issue not the card itself. You cannot use 6.5 drivers on you card, the reason why you are getting these blank screens and dropping out of games is because of the drivers.

Not the news you peobably wanted to here but an upgrade is needed the drivers which would have been used would have been Catalyst 9.3.

Here's the deal,
I purchased a HP Pavilion dv9540us Entertainment Notebook PC and upgraded to Windows 7, after I got a virus and let Microsoft Techs into my laptop remotely in an effort to remove the worm and they deleted some key OS Files. So, they were kind enough to give me Windows 7 Professional & install Office 2010, but failed to inform me that upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 would render my Nvidia graphics card useless. So, here I am trying to figure out what to do and where to get the correct Drivers to get my HDMI & Other ports working again. I tried talking to HP, but to them it's a matter of national security & if your not willing to "Grea$e the wheels" they're not willing to give up the "seceret." Although, They did tell me that I will need to download a chipset driver to my HP Pavilion dv9540us that is compatible with Windows 7 and then my Nvidia graphics card will be detectible by my Device manager. Then I would need to update my Nvidia Drivers, Reboot, and I should be up and running. Sounds good, but what is the HP Driver I need? Does anyone have a link or any better input?
Because, I am about ready to Smash this thing or hunt down some HP Support guy.

Hello, I recently performed a clean install of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate onto my computer. While doing so, I had to unplug my graphics card and use the onboard video, otherwise I'd get an error about unexpected restarts.

After installing, Windows 7 doesn't detect the graphics card (the card works, but it doesn't show up under the device manager and I can't install nVidia drivers). If I use the BIOS to switch to onboard video, then that shows up on the device manager and works fine, but I use this PC for gaming so I'd prefer to use the video card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated .

My hard drive that came with my device recently crashed. I bought a replacement hard drive and had to buy the Recovery Manager from HP. I received it earlier today, and for 6 hours I have been staring at the "Factory image recovery preparations" page with the first tworld items checked and the third unchecked. Progress has remained at 0 % this entire time. It says it can take hours and not look like it is actually progressing at times, but this seems incorrect. I am sure the hard drive I bought as a replacement works with my laptop.

Hi: Something doesn't seem right. It shouldn't take more than 3 hours from soup to nuts to do a recovery. While I can't help you with why the HP recovery media isn't working, if you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the Microsoft sticker on your notebook's case, you can make your own plain W7 installation media and use that to reinstall Windows 7. This site claims to have genuine, unadulterated W7 ISO files for download... https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-iso-download-tool Click on the link labeled Windows ISO Downloader.exe You can use either the:  Win 7 Home SP1 or the (Retail version, but the OEM key on your PC's case should work with it)  Win 7 Home SP1 COEM (This version would be for what HP would have used--System Builder) N is for European Union (EU) countries. K is for South Korean markets. Then you can use this tool to transfer the file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or a DVD. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool

I recently acquired a Compaq Presario 5030 with the following specs:

Intel Pentium II 300 MHz processor
Intel 440LX/EX chipset
Quantum Bigfoot TX 7.46 GB hard drive(4,000 rpm)
256 MB PC-100 SDRAM
ATI 3D Rage LT Pro "on-board" display adapter(2 MB video memory)

Rockwell HCF 56K modem
Realtek RTL8139 network card
Mitac 110-watt power supply
Compaq 04C4h motherboard(2 - PCI slots)

Since I am using this computer with Roadrunner high-speed cable and have no use for the 56K modem, I want to remove the modem card and add an ATI Radeon 7000 graphic card that has 32 MB of video memory. The specs on the box are compatible with this computer. I'm hoping that adding the graphics card and disabling the "on-board" display adapter will improve the graphic quality of this computer and possibly increase its overall performance.

I would appreciate some input on this.

Also bought a new PSU 550V to make it match the requirements..

Hi, My dv6t laptop started to fail booting yesterday. The other night, I was still able to use it and play Overwatch. The laptop is I think a 2010 model since it is one the first generation core i-series laptops. I always use my laptop with the charger plugged in ( no battery connected ). Except yesterday, I need to get some files at my laptop, and used the battery, but it does not boot up. So I charged the battery first and try booting up the laptop after a few minutes, but ends in failure. The laptop failure scenario is this: the lights and the fan power up for 1 second then cuts the power off. When the charger is connected to the laptop, the LED indicator lights up (indicating there is a charger connected). Here is what I have already tried:- removed one memory module - removed hard drive- removes all components- replaced cmos battery- cleaned up fan Is there anything more I can do/test?  Thanks

Hello, I tried to upgrade to windows 8 and found that the touchpad became super sensitive and jumpy. Reading online I found a firmware that claimed to fix the issue and found it on HPs Support site. Mid install, it reported that it failed and forced a reboot on the laptop. When it was back up and running I found that the touchpad no longer worked. Its exactly the same issue as in these links: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Touchpad-Not-Working-After-Faile... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Touchpad-Firmware-Failed/td-p/23... I've tried to reflash and to get new drivers but they are not able to go through. The flashing will quit saying I need drivers first even though I have them.  I've even reformated and put the factory windows 7 image back on but it still will not work. The solutions posted in the above links didnt work for me.  Does anyone have any idea on how I can fix this?

Hello all. I decided to switch to the newest version of the Forceware drivers for my Geforce 4 4200Ti graphics card today. I was running the 61.77 Forceware drivers, and planned on switching to the 71.84 (latest certified version) drivers. I created a System Restore point in XP, and then removed my old drivers via the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Control Panel. I then restarted my computer, and on startup Windows autodetected my graphics card. I cancelled out of the autodetect wizard in order to run the 71.84 install file, which I had already downloaded. Upon executing the install file, the drivers were unzipped to the temporary NVIDIA folder, but immediately after this I got an error message saying the NVIDIA installation could not detect a compatible display device.

I also tried getting windows to detect my card through the Add New Hardware util, but windows was unable to see my card there. I have no idea what could be causing this problem whatsoever. I was thinking maybe you folks could help me out with this one. Thanks for your time.

A:Solved: Forceware 71.84 doesn't detect my card!

You should not cancel the Found New Hardware Wizard but let it go through so that Windows installs its generic drivers. Once they are install the Forceware installation should work.

Hello,

I recently updated the drivers for my video card, NVIDIA's discrete GeForce GT 335M, and afterwards I was unable to get my monitor to display anything. My laptop screen is broken so I use a standalone monitor with VGA cables for my display. So after this I tried the obvious troubleshooting, using my fn key to switch between displays and holding the windows key + P to pick the projector option, both to no avail. I then started windows in safe mode and rolled back the most recent driver update for the video card. Since then my laptop does not detect the video card, like it is gone. I still have the updates installed, NVIDIA Control Panel still exist but says no card is detected.

Also I can not get BIOS to run on boot, possibly because my monitor won't display anything until it gets to the windows home screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks,

Shawn

Hello dear community, I've just formatted my notebook again and installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The problem is that system is unable to detect my graphics card - Radeon HD 7600M, which was working fine before. Device manager is showing it as a standard VGA graphics card. My notebook is also using Intel HD graphics 4000 and it's working fine after manually instaling required drivers. When I am trying to install drivers for Radeon, two things are happening: - setup manager returns error message that installation process failed(I've even tried to edit "InstallManager.cfg" file and change "WorkaroundInstall=false" to true, setup manager installed everything(AMD catalyst, etc.), just not the driver - as soon as setup manager is trying to detect my graphics card, blue screen appears and notebook is rebooting It is pretty random which one of the above things will happen. I've tried installing few different drivers and nothing changed. I've also tried(in the device manager) to manually choose the location with the driver - Windows tells me that system knows it's the Radeon HD 7600M device, but cannot install the drivers. During the format, I deleted ALL partitions and created new ones. I remember that there was a small partition(which I left untouched during the earlier notebook format), but this time I deleted it too. Maybe this partition had some important HP data which is causing this problem now? I am also attaching a screenshot of my device... Read more

Hi: I think that HP has the wrong switchable graphics driver listed on your notebook's support page. See if this W7 AMD/Intel graphics driver works. You must only install the AMD graphics driver, which installs the drivers for both the Intel and AMD GPU's. This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Hello Everyone, I am having hard time figuring out the right RAM module for HP Pavilion dv6t-1300 CTO Notebook PC. A similar issue was discussed in another topic.  And according to the service manual which is located at http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01859609 (this is also the service manual suggested in the other topic for this model) the RAM is DDR2. However when I googled ram upgrade for that specific model it is claimed that the compatible memory module is DDR3. Besides, I have DDR3 installed in dv6t-1300 CTO and it works like a charm.. Can someone help me clear my confusion please!! Thanks in advance.

Afternoon Guys,      I recently got a used laptop and Im having some issues regarding the performance of my High Performance GPU. Alot of games that are supported by my GPU seems to be lagging and also im getting FPS drop of under 30 FPS with some.  Now I posted a question in another forum about could it be my AC adpater. The one I currently have is a 65W which didnt come with the laptop but accordding to the service manual this specific one is compatible. Now Im pretty new to PC gaming with secondary and High Preformance GPU's so my question is.... For an AMD 6770m GPU does a 65w AC Adapter provide sufficient power for gaming or do I need to invest in a 120w AC adapter? Does it make a difference?

Hi, I don't believe 35W charger is compatible with a dv6t laptop. You need at least 65W. What is the 35W part number ? Regards.

Hey everyone, I'm in dire need of some help with my PC. The computer turns on fine, and boots up (can hear the windows start up tune) but I can't see anything on the monitor. Here's the details:

I was playing a computer game on friday, and during that it crashed. I have no idea if this is when things started or not, but I restarted and it was fine.

On sunday I had another crash, only the screen flickered once or twice and there were green pixel lines going from top to bottom of the monitor , about 2 inches apart in a perfect pattern. When I restarted, there were no graphics on the monitor. The light was flashing indicating it was on power saving mode.

I took the computer apart, unplugged everything, and put it all back together, and for whatever reason it worked fine for about 6 hours.

The next day I turned the computer on, and it loaded fine, but shortly after there was the return of the green pixel lines, with the added addition of the top left corner of the screen being filled with green pixelated triangles in a perfect pattern. These were flickering furiosly.

I tried restarting my computer, and again I got no graphics posted to the monitor. However the computer booted up fine, and I heard the start up tune, and 5 minutes later I shut it down by pressing the "Power Off" button on my keyboard.

I tried another monitor and again, got nothing. I then tried taking the computer apart and putting it back together again, only this time it didn'... Read more

A:Graphics card doesn't post any graphics to my monitor, computer boots up fine

Its usually just the graphics cards, they do fail especially if they overheat - then video card fan not speeding up might have been the problem - most are dynamic and should actually speed up under load. Depending on the manufacturer of your 8800GTX you might be able to get it replaced under warranty if they have a 3 year or greater warranty.

Have you uninstalled the drivers for the old card before fitting the new one?
If the old setup was onboard graphics (no card), have you disabled on board graphics in the bios before fitting the new card?

Hi, here is an e-mail I sent to Belkin tech support ... but I haven't heard back so I thought I'd try here. Can anyone help me?

Hi, I'm trying to set up a Belkin F5D6020 ver2 wireless adapter on my IBM 233mhz laptop running WIN98se. I want to connect to my existing wired network. I have a cable modem connected to my Belkin F5D6231-4 router. I have 2 PCs connected to the router via ethernet cable. The wired part of the network is working beautifully. All wired PCs can talk to each other. When I have my wired network adapter installed on the laptop, it works great too.

I installed the installation software on the laptop using the EASY option. I plug in the adapter card when prompted and Windows installs the drivers. My computer doesn’t ask me to restart so I restart manually. The monitor utility comes up and, after a minute, a warning message displays ‘The access point you are attempting to access does not appear to exist. Please select the new one’. The prompts on the utility screen read:

Profile name: Default
Operating mode: infrastructure
Channel = 3 (greyed out)
SSID = ANY
Tx Rate = Auto
MAC address = 00-30-BD-D2-BF-06
status = scanning

There is no signal strength or link quality. I click on the site survey tab and there is nothing listed. I click rescan and still nothing. The green link LED on the card is flashing. The WLAN light on the router is solid green.

On my PC web browser I go to http://192.168.2.1/ to access the router set up utility.

Hello
I uninstalled my nvidia graphics card via device manager because I was having annoying freezes and nothing I tried fixed it. But when I restarted windows, the graphics cards didn't appear any more and I couldn't install the drivers back. Since it's a laptop I can't just unplug it and plug it in again. How do I get it back?

A:Uninstalled graphics card. Windows cannot detect it now

Do not try to install it through Device Manager.

I just did mine less than an hour ago. So maybe this will help.

After reboot W7 will load but have poor resolution. Go to where the Nvidia driver is downloaded (mine was in the Download folder) double click the Nvidia driver download and follow the prompts to install.

It may show it did not install the driver but don't worry just reboot when it is finished installing or says it didn't install properly.
That is what mine did and after a reboot all was installed properly.

Also after reboot the Monitor will show in Device Manager.

First, my specs:

OS: Windows Vista
2.3ghz Intel Celeron
2 gigs of RAM
250gb HDD
GFXCard trying to install: Geforce FX 5200

Alright, so this is a simple question, shouldn't be difficult to answer!
I've read that sometimes you don't have to disable the Onboard Graphics in the BIOS when putting in the gfxcard. So, I stuck it in without disabling in hopes that I didn't have to. Well, the monitor won't turn on, so I just have to pull it back out of the processor. The weird thing is, it won't even turn on if I have the monitor plugged into the onboard gfx slot. It won't until I completely remove the GForce FX. So, I went into the BIOS and saw that the Primary is selected as PCI and not Onboard, even though I use chipset. Could that be why the monitor is getting confused?

But here's my main question, before I get started in all this: if I choose the Primary Video in BIOS as PCI-E, would I still be able to see the monitor once it turns back on? In other words, would I be able to change the bios back if the gfxcard don't work? Will the onboard video work regardless of what's chosen in the BIOS menu?

Would appreciate ANY help! Thanks in advance!

EDIT: oh, and hey does the GeForce FX 5200 support 1440x900 resolution? Could that be the problem it's not detecting it?

Hey guys,
This is an important post for me as its regarding my Graphics Card (as i use it a lot). I have a Lenovo G400 laptop with intel i5 3230m , Windows 8.1 and Switchable Graphics(Intel HD 4000 and AMD Radeon HD 8750m). Recently this morning i kept my laptop for an download and went away from it for a while.Later when i returned i saw that my laptop was on lock screen. I unlocked it to see for the download and it said that could not detect hardware or hardware drivers for my AMD Graphics card. Later i saw it could not even detect my intel graphics card. I managed to download and install intel graphics card and it could detect it but when i tried to install amd grahpics drivers it failed.
It cant even detect the AMD Graphics Card.I tried a system restore and it didnt work. According to me it was due to an windows update recently(so i did a system restore).
This is pretty Important for me , so please reply all the suggestions you have

Hi,
(sorry, but this needs a bit of background)

I've been using a custom PC since June, picked the parts, got it put together in a shop. Recently, I've been having occasional BSODs and a message that says "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT". After the latest BSOD and reboot, my PC couldn't detect the GTX560 graphics card (from Palit) in device manager. Under display adapters it shows "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" instead of the gtx560.

I tried to update the driver with the latest download from Nvidia (version 280.26), but when I try to it informs me "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". I've reinstalled windows 7 and the drivers for Ethernet, motherboard, chipset, etc., but I've still got the same problem when trying to install the graphics driver.

When I open the "Properties" window of the "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" in device manager, under details->hardware ids the following information is shown:
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1209&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_A1
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1209&SUBSYS_00000000
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1209&REV_A1
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1209
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1209&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1209&CC_0300

Any help?

A:[Help] Can't detect graphics card or install drivers

Hello syalam. Welcome to the Forum.

Have you made any changes or added any new hardware to your system around the time this error began to appear?

That VEN is nVidia, but the DEV is a Fast Ethernet Controller.
It could be that Windows has mixed up the registry folder for the device, or the plug and play feature in the video cards firmware could be corrupted, or there is another corruption in the system.

You can try reinstalling the video card clean:
Be sure you have the most current known good driver downloaded.
Create a System Restore Point.

Now go into Windows Explorer and in the C: drive find the nVidia folder (inside will be Drivers > your driver version) and delete it (the whole folder).
Go into Start > Control Panel > Remove a Program and uninstall all programs for the video card. Do PhysX and Stereoscopic 3D first, then the driver. The control panel will uninstall with the driver.

Shut down computer, wait 30 seconds, and then boot the computer.
When it reaches the desktop Windows will find new hardware and will install it's own WDDM1.1 driver. Let it. You will be asked to restart. Do it.
Once back on the desktop you can now install the nVidia driver package for your card.
Try that and see if it works. That PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error can be caused by other bad drivers too, and by bad RAM. But lets check that video card installation first.

You need to post the brand and model. That way we can find the model and see if you have slots to install a graphics card.
I'm guessing you have a graphics chip on the motherboard that has died.

Hello,
I am thinking to upgrade from windows 7 to 8.1 on my notebook but there are no drivers on developers homepage for windows 8.1. Will windows 7 drivers work fine?

A:Windows 8.1 drivers for HP Pavilion DV6t-6000

In most cases (all in my case) the Win 7 drivers worked on Win 8. There are a few isolated cases where Win 8 audio drivers do not work properly with Windows 8.1, and updated Win 8.1 drivers are needed, but otherwise it shouldn't be a problem.

Actually, Win 8 will probably install most of the needed drivers, except sound. For sound Windows will only install the generic, basic function, "High Definition Audio Device (Codec).
