Solved: Hotel Giant (Won't Run)

Q: Solved: Hotel Giant (Won't Run)

Hi there

I'm a sucker for these strategy sim games, so I bought Hotel Giant, (Sold Out Range). I have installed it successfully but it won't run.

It looks like it's about to start, and then just jumps back to the desktop and nothing else happens. It does not crash and I don't get any error messages.

I have written to the support team but they never bothered to answer, so I'm stumped.

You guys are always so cool at helping me out, so was hoping you could help me get the game to run instead of it just jumping back to the desktop.

Thanks again

Meg, Scotland, UK

Preferred Solution: Solved: Hotel Giant (Won't Run)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Solved: Hotel Giant (Won't Run)

Okay, I unticked the compatibility option altogether, and the game started, it got to starting the tutorial then froze and jumped back to the desktop. So i'm back to square one. Still no error messages.

I recently purchased Hotel Giant 2 and attempted to play the game today. There were two error messages: "sys3d select display mode error" and "sys3de init driver error". I updated my video driver using the Lenovo website; this made no difference.

I also noticed today that when I attempted to open the ATI CATALYST(R) Control Center, there was an error message. The message was: "Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.".

Are these two issues related? Another (possibly) related problem I'm having is that my multiple monitor capability has disappeared. My [right click>properties>setting>advanced>monitor] leads to this screen:

Previously, I was able to toggle between different displays, etc.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

just used wifi a lot at libraries, airports, etc. now in hotel and when i click on the bars, am told the signal is low. no green lines at all. right click on the little monitors with red x's and can get one of them going but that does not help. once i did get connected to the hotel wifi but everything took a long time so i gave up. a prompt sometimes comes telling me to check with the wifi provider because windows cannot connect.

just want to be sure that i am doing what little i need to do to make sure it is the hotel's problem and not mine. when i click on a list of available wifi connections, i get all kinds of choices in the area but the hotel choices are way down the list.

can live with this but feel it not worth complaining especially if my computer is the problem. but cannot imagine that when i have been using wifi exclusively the past month. thanks for any help

I work for a hotel in England UK which does not have WIFI. We are situated in an area with generally poor internet speeds. Should low speeds prevent us getting WIFI for the hotel guests use?

I live in the next village a mile or so away and get download speeds of around 16 Mbps. I imagine speeds to be lower at work.

If possible, how would we go about installing WIFI in the hotel for guests use?

Usage would be fairly low.

Older laptop disconnects from hotel wifi at regular intervals about every 45 seconds?

It is a dell d600. it supports wpa2 but i think there maybe a problem with tkip/aes or something. This is the second time I have stayed at a hotel with it. And it connects but then disconnects after 45 seconds or so, kind of like it is on a timer or something...

I have a newer laptop and it stays connected.

So anything I can do about this problem? Or I need a new wifi card? Thanks

I know that this may sound stupid but, when I use my laptop which has a D-link wireless card (which I use at home daily) in a hotel does it just link to the hotels router automaticly or do I have to do something to make that happen. I'm a novice and any help would be appreciated

A:How Do I Get Internet In A Hotel

Hi Dyrbooker. There is nothing you should need to do.Your wireless card will detect the connection automaticly.I travel extensively across the US. Hotels, Airports, etc, are nothing more then hotspots.I would assume it works the same way in Cozumel.I strongly suggest you do not transmit sensitive data or make financial transactions in a hotspot without taking security precautions first. I use a VPN for that stuff and also encrypt any files I upload to somewhere else.If you already have hotel reservations, contact them with any questions you have reguarding wireless connections.

Mickotabs Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about problems connecting using the hotel WiFi and wanted to help.I used to travel for my job and ran into this stuff all the time.  When hotels had wired Internet, it was not a problem, but now that virtually everyone has switched to wireless, it IS a problem. What I found worked was using Internet Explorer (yeah, I know, everyone's favorite malware catcher!), and when it opened, it invariably went to the hotel's website, where you had to click on some Accept button -- before you could surf the net. Once you did that, you could close IE, open the Browser you want to use, and access the net without issues. If that doesn't work, since this is a new PC, then instead of struggling for hours to fix it yourself, why not just let HP fix it -- for free!!  You should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about diagnosing and repairing your machine remotely.I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs. If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- ... I have an ACER 9300 running Vista Home. It connects to a wireless network at home, and I am planning to go on a trip and most hotels advertise "high speed internet".

Question is:

" What hardware will I need to be able to connect? Ethernet cable? Telephone cable?"

"What setups do I need on the computer?"

Obviously I have never tried this so I have no idea.

A:Hotel Internet

Hi Gene45. . .

If the hotel has a wireless setup, which most do, you do not need anything other than your system and the hotel's password.

Simply boot-up your laptop, click on Start, then click on Connect To. A list of available wireless signals will appear. Double-click on the hotel's network and if asked to enter the password/phrase - enter it.

Should you experience difficulty in either not being able to connect or the loss of connectivity (limited connectivity - INTRAnet buit no INTERnet), bring your laptop to the lobby where the signal would be stronger.

In 2007, I drove from New Jersey to California and never had a problem connecting in any hotel - except where the signal was weak and did not reach the particular room that I was staying in.

To test this, go to a McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts where wifi is free - and try to connect - or go to a friends/family members house and try.

Lastly, contact the hotel to assure that a wireless signal is available vs. modem.

Good Luck on your trip.

Regards. . .

I own and operate a small startup computer/network support business. I am seriously considering targetting the hotels in my area to sell them wifi systems.

Plan 1. If they only want to get their hotel lobby or one certain area online it would be easy. I plan to market the Buffalo Technology WBR2G54 router with an indoor antenna. That will cover a large open area and any rooms adjacent to this area. It also has WPA security so the hotel (or I) can change the WPA key periodically and only give it to the registed guests to prevent/limit stealing of bandwidth.

This system is rather inexpensive (about 800 installed with 3 PC wireless adapters) plus the monthly cost of the internet connection obviously.

For hotels that want ALL their rooms wired this system will not be adequate. Although it is possible with Buffalo techs' APs and repeaters, there is not a centralized administration solution for these devices.

the route lots of folks seem to be going is the Cisco Aironet 350 series APs and stuff. But these mothers' run about 450 per unit. A 200 room hotel could easily run about 10,000 to install access to every room. But these devices provide centralized Admin. and all the bells and whistles I could need.

Wow, all that typing and here is my question. Do any of you have experience or knowledge of other make/models of devices that would do this job... Read more

A:giant images

Hi carol, you would need to reduce the image size in a graphics program, like Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro. Adobe Photoshop is rather expensive, but Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro are arouns $100. There are free image editors out there, I just don't know the names of them, try going to http://www.download.com and look under the graphics section and there should be some editors there you could either download for free or atleast get a free trial to see if you like them. Hope I have helped.

Recently my computer has started displaying giant pixels anytime I want to start up a computer game like The Sims or Trickster. For a while I thought it was just 3-d games that were not working but then I tried playing a 2-d pixel game, and I had the same problom, here is a screen cap of what I am talking about.

The computer that I am running is a eMachines T3256.
It has a nvidia GeForce 4 MX graphics card.
Is there anyways that I could fix this with buying a nother card, or downloading something, or will I have to take my computer in to someone to fix it?

A:Giant pixels, I need help

Re The Sims (original?) - your card should be able to play that

Re Trickster - your card doesn't support DX8 for 1.1 pixel shaders so probably cannot play that

Re the pixel problem - uninstall your present nVidia dtrivers in Add/Remove programs, reboot, and install the latest drivers.

edit: if the l;atest drivers don't fix it, uninstall them and try one of the 53.xx series - they apparently could, with hardware assisted software emulation, support vertex shader model 1.1.

I am a IT engineer that has a basic to intermediate understanding of wifi.

Some of the ones we are considering include:

1. Linksys WAP200E (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...=8368193126B11)

2. Netgear WAG102 (http://www.netgear.com/Products/APsW...ts/WAG102.aspx)

with this extension cable.. 5m or 10m (http://www.netgear.com/Products/APsW...na_Cables.aspx)

Can anyone suggestion any recommendations?

Also, there are many many different types of antennas.... directional antennas, reflector grid antennas, panel antennas, yagi antennas, panel antennas, omnidirectional antennas, sectorial antennas, and other wireless Wi-Fi antennas. Can someone suggest the best and most cost effective idea for my application.
After reviewing the diagram and picture attached.. can anyone make suggestions?

A:Hotel wireless networks

some ISP will only allow you to send email when logged in through there service - it may be simply that.

i have seen this a number of times - where you can receive but not send mails.

have you talked to the ISP about how there email operates

perhaps some comcast users will answer...

I use gmail as my main emaill supplier and the use there free pop facility to use outlook - that way i'm not ties to any supplier and can get email anywhere

I was at a hotel in Brussels this week where I could receive email through Outlook but not send it. The error message I got was

Task '[email protected] - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC80) : 'None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.'

What causes this and is there a way to overcome it?

A:Outlook problems in a hotel

Three options:
Use a web-based email interface
Temporarily change your outgoing (SMTP) server to the one provided by the hotel's ISP
Switch your email over to an ISP that uses a secure interface and allows for validation of the SMTP server so that you can explicitly validate. This is what I do. My ISP at home (Verizon DSL) only provides internet access and is not my eMail provider.

The issue is that the ISP the hotel is using does not recognize your ISP as a trusted entity. ISPs do this because if they did not anyone could (and would) use them to send out vast amounts of SPAM.

Operating System : Windows 7 Home Premium

I wish to set up a Wifi network in a hotel which has 33 rooms and many solid brick walls.

The system must be capable of maintaining a secure reliable wifi without any dropouts whatosever and capable of dealing with 33 users at any one time who will be largely using skype with some video streaming..

At present the hotel uses one one router ( BtHub3) and two extenders ( Netgear WN300RP and a cabled to router TP - Link extender ).

If 12 or more users are using the system at any one time dropouts will occur quite often and internet operation becomes slow.
Any advice would be most welcome.

I am unsing Hotel Wifi connections quite often. There I have to log in using the Room Number and a Pin.

When I look in my Android settings, I can see that the connection has no security (no WEP, no WPA, etc.).

For me it looks like my data is transferred without any encryption? Is this really true, or is such a network somehow else encrypted? I can not believe that there is absolutely no security in hotels as every nome user knows that he shall at least use WEP?

My dad is taking his old brick windows 2000 laptop on a business trip. Note that it is not for his work, just to check his email and do finances. He has 2000 as I just said, and a old network card that looks like it is missing an antenna.
I have messed with it, but I can't even get it to connect to our home wifi. Is 2000 even compatible with current technology? Or am I being stupid and he just needs a new card? Or does he need a decent laptop?

That is an old (12 years at least) picture of the building am I supposed to help wirelessly network. I have wireless internet at home and everything works fine.

Obviously she needs a wireless router, but how good of one? I have heard of range booster for larger buildings to help with so many walls etc. Can somebody just from looking at that picture help me get an idea of what I need?

Most likely I will order on Newegg (cheap/fast shipping).

A:Wirelessly networking a hotel, Need some help

I'm guessing you'll want at least two access points (routers will do), one for each floor. Put the router in a central location on each floor, same SSID but different channels. You'll probably want to pick up a couple of the 7dB omni-directional antennas to help with the signal strength as well. Wire one router directly to the broadband service, and the secondary router as follows.

Connecting two SOHO broadband routers together.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses through, I'd assign the secondary router as it's IP address.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!

Hi I have a question about using my notebook to connect to wireless internet in hotel rooms. What exactly do I need to connect? I have a trip planned, and some hotels advertise free Wi-Fi or wireless internet.

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 (kinda old, ~2000-2001) with Win 98SE. It has a IrDA infrared port. Is this enough, or do I need to buy a wireless PC card? Would the NETGEARŪ Wireless-G PC card work? I have 2 Type I/II PC Card slots, but no USB slot and I'm looking for an inexpensive solution.

I assume the hotel gives me a password and I set up some kind of network connection on my computer?

I'm sorry for such a basic question, but I really have no clue when it comes to networking/wireless kinds of things (I'm still using dial-up!). I've googled, but I haven't found anything that really answers my question about how to connect in hotel rooms.

Thanks so much!

Hello all, I have a job where I need to access the internet over a secure connection. I use too much bandwidth for mobile broadband to be a viable option (about 30 gigs a month travelling).

Is there anyway to access the internet through a public wifi hotspot, routed through my home internet? The information I am handling is anything but sensitive (I mean, not even close at all. Let's just say I fill in rudimentary measurement data for flooring with no names or companies ever included, at all.). But my employer is a bit OCC and requires us to have a secure connection.

In other words, I'm not so much worried about a secure connection as I am appeasing my boss with a secure connection so I can do more work while on the road.

Any help would be fantastic.

Try something like this: Defending against insecure hotel networks with a VPN.The article may be from 2008, but the method is still the same. The simplistic overview helps to understand it better.

Hey, I'm currently in a hotel and I just changed rooms to a room around 20m away.

We have pretty good WiFi in the room but when we moved my laptop will still connect to that WiFi in that room and not in the room I'm in now.

Although my iPhone, Surface, Parents phones, iPad connects to this new internet, I'm stuck with 2 bars that cuts out every minute.

Please help!!

There's probably not much you can do depending on how the hotel wireless network is set up. Your situation is exactly why I harp on using independent APs in setting up a "unified" wireless network. If the hotel is using a properly designed wireless network based on a central wireless controller, the controller would be able to steer your devices to nearest less busy AP for best performance. Unfortunately, many times, businesses skimp on things like this especially if they are providing wireless service as a free service.

I was super excited to see the 4th Gen X1 Yoga released, but so dissapointed when I looked at the pictures. That giant bottom bezel. What is going on here? Who in their right mind released that in the year 2019?All the other manufacturers seem to be slowly cottoning on what the market wants (hint: not 16:9), yet here we seem to be stuck with completely wasted real estate on the laptops. It just makes no sense, the market is all about trying to get bigger screens in a smaller device. The easiest way to do that is to put a 14" 16:10/3:2 screen in a 12.5" body. Does Lenovo have any official word on this? They have so many unnecessary overlapping models, yet not a single offering that has what we all want. The XPS13 2-in-1 with the 16:10 screen is going to decimate sales.I've stayed true to my 8 year old X220 which is still going strong, yet unless something gets announced by Lenovo by end of July, it's bye bye lenovo from me.
