Sony's Health scan report!

Q: Sony's Health scan report!

Hi there,

I have 2 machines, a Sony Vaio VGC-LS1 & a Dell XPS1730 laptop.....not on a network....using zoom adsl X6 modem for both.

Needed help to unintsall 2 softwares: Sonic encoders & Image Station....I get an error using Revo......need this file C:\abu\software603703.SND\ but I cannot find its location.

Contacted Sony neither they could help depite taking remote acess of the machine. Ran a PC health & gave me this report.

1. "The computer's video card is unsatisfactory "

Your computer's video card has been checked and is found to be not as per recommendations

The video card application demands a lot of space and resources from your computer. Thus it is essential to assess the requirements of this application to determine the condition of your computer.

I am using there own bultin Intel 945 GM graphic acelerator??

2. "The Internet Connection Sharing Service needs to be disabled "

The Internet Connection Sharing Service has been enabled.

The Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service is applicable to provide network address translation, addressing, name resolution and/or intrusion prevention services to a home computer or small office network. This service helps multiple users on your network to browse through a single account. You need to enable this service if your computer is in a network but can be disabled otherwise.

3. "Non optimal internet configuration settings "

Your current internet configuration settings is not optimally set
There are a varied number of windows settings that affect your internet browsing speed. Thus to ensure better performance while browsing or downloading, these settings need to be optimized.
4. "The CD ROM Autoplay disabled "

The CD ROM Autoplay feature needs to be enabled
If you activate the CD ROM (Read Only Memory) Autoplay on your computer, it will play the CD automatically every time you insert a CD into the drive.

5. "Simultaneous downloads non optimal "

Simultaneous connections to a single HTTP 1.0 and HTTP 1.1 server is not optimal
Usually the internet explorer controls the number of simultaneous connections made to a single web server. Owing to this feature, only a limited number of files can be downloaded from a website at a single time. Simultaneous connections to a single HTTP 1.0 server will be limited to 4 and to a single HTTP 1.1 will be limited to 2. However this connection limit becomes restricted as the connection speed and the number of connections allowed to internet servers increase.

6. "The Distributed link tracking client service enabled "

The Distributed link tracking client service is not set to manually activate
It is essential to activate the distributed link tracking client service to maintain links with NTFS files within your computer or across a domain. It can be set to a manual start. However this is recommended only for a large network and not for your home computer network.

7. "The SNMP Trap Service needs to be disabled "

The SNMP Trap Service is activated
Trap messages generated by local or remote SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) agents are received by the SNMP trap service. These messages are then forwarded to the SNMP management programs existing on your computer. However this service is not vital to better the performance of standalone computers that are not a part of a network. Thus it is recommended to disable this service for such computers.

9. "Automatic search for network printers and folders needs to be disabled "

The Automatic search for network printers and folders on your computer has been enabled
It is a feature of Windows to keep the list of any newly shared resource available on your computer up to date. Thus it scans your network to recognize any such resource like a printer recently set online or a folder shared recently. If this feature is disabled, Windows will not be able to detect these resources, thereby reducing the number of applications available on your computer.

How do I fix them OR do I need to fix them.......am getting no errors.....contacted Sony to find a way to uninstall the 2 softwares??

Hoping to hear your expert thoughts.

Preferred Solution: Sony's Health scan report!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In November I cleanly installed Win7 Ultimate on my machine and all has been great but for the fact that I am not able to generate a system health report anymore. I get the attached error. I cannot understand this as all the other monitoring aspects work fine: I can monitor power usage, defrag, etc but I can't generate the system health report. Is it possible that a registry cleaning recently messed up a driver?

I apologize that I can't provide anymore details- I did do a system restore yesterday thinking that maybe a Windows Update perhaps interfered with this but it didn't make any difference. I wonder if anyone has a thought or suggestion for me that might help. Thank you so very much.

A:System Health Report

Hello Lizzybee,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

If you don't have any older restore points to try, then I would try this. SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

If that doesn't work, then you might try this. Repair Install

Although I'm not positive that the reg cleaner caused this problem, I recommend against the use of registry cleaners as they often cause more trouble than good unless you know exactly what is being deleted.

Hope this helps.

Hi cockaleekieman and welcome to TSF,,

Here is a diagnostic tool that you can use to check your hard disk to check it for errors. I couldn't tell if it was the caviar blue/ green or black version.

You should also run a chkdisk /r in Windows on your disk to check for bad sectors.

There are two ways to do this without the disk.

1] First way Windows Key+R and type CMD and hit Enter. At the command prompt type 'chkdsk /r' (without the quotes) and hit Enter. (it may ask you to reboot, so press Y and then Enter)

2] Second Way Go My Computer and Right click on Local Disk (C:) and select 'Properties'. Then under the 'Tools' tab click on 'Check Now' next to Error Checking. In the small window that opens put a tick in both boxes and press 'Start'. It will say 'Windows can't check the disk while in use'. Just click 'Schedule disk check' and then OK. Reboot, and it will run on the next startup. This will check and try to fix any bad sectors on your hard disk.

Had you recently added any new programs or bits of hardware when these errors started to happen?

Probably nothing to be concerned over. It is only a list of events, tasks, errors that windows has encountered. Were you looking for something specific?
But it would be a good idea to sacn with Malwarebytes and Super AntiSpyware, see links in my sig. Update each and do a FULL scan.

I am running Vista SP2 Home Premium and I get a message every time I run system health reports. It says I have no Antivirus or Malware running on my system.
I have Avast 4.8 as the Antivirus and for spy/malware protection Spybot, Malwarebytes and Spyware Blaster.
For a while the security center ALSO reported no Antivirus/Malware protection. Resovled this issue by reinstalling Avast and rebuilding the /Windows/System32/WBEM/Repository folder by deleting it (temp stopping the WMI in services) and reboot.
but the health report still says no antivirus or malware programs detected.
System Center looks normal.
Been doing googling on the issue and seems that some vendors such as Norton have said this is a possible bug with both Win7 and Vista. Probably due to a bad windows update (the monthly ones). Makes since because this issue started not too long ago.
It's not a biggie but I like having my system healthy and smooth
Any other people had this happen?? If not, I recommend trying the health report (in Control Panel - Performance Info and tools - Advanced tools - Generate System Health report) for the rec I use control panel in Classic View.
you might get the same results..

If you have Norton 360 bloatware installed then why does it say no AV detected?

It is likely that D: is a partition used by the computer manufacturer to store restore files or diagnostic files. If it is then don't mess with it and ignore the error.

The first thing that I can suggest is to get some more memory.
Your system report shows 1.87G of physical memory.
It also shows 1.87G of pagefile space.

You need at least 2G of physical and 3G of pagefile to run W7 in any sort of efficient manner.

I only looked at a couple of the BSOD logs and didn't post the results
because they pointed me to this as a potential cause.

Please run this as it may point out another possible issue as well.

Recently my PC has been "stuttering." Audio makes weird noises and even typing in this box is delayed. This happens every 10 seconds to 1 minute. Sometimes there are erratic bursts every second for about 5 seconds as well. I can't pinpoint when this started happening though. I generated a system health report. I hope that will help. It looks like a service has stopped that may need to be running. Restarting helps the problem but not for long.

When this happens my internet seems to be REALLY slow. I tried downloading a 90mb file and it said it would take 1 hour. I restarted my PC and re downloaded the file in about 4 minutes. I'm thinking theres some kind of issue where a driver or a service is taking precedence over something it shouldn't but it isn't starting up right away.

Watching my task monitor I see the CPU spikes to 18 - 30% from 6 - 10%. Firefox seems to grab 8% of that. The rest of the running processes only generate another 5 - 6% total when these spikes happen. I haven't had much time to test and the only way I REALLY notice it is when my music glitches. I am always listening to music while working. These stutters make working very tedious for me.

It also spikes while playing video games. My first thought was audio drivers at this point because I didn't really see a decrease in actual game performance, it was the audio glitches that were so noticeable. I used Driver Sweeper to uninstall my Realtek drivers and reinstall the driv... Read more

Without knowing anything about the testing program, I'd say don't worry.

You could look in device manager and see if it reports any driver issues (yellow exclamation marks).

If all of your hardware and software is running as expected, it's tough to get worried based on such a report.

OK, lets see if we can get this one to work next

Seems to be quite common out there.

I run the application and get the little timer saying its working for 60 seconds then it fails and gives the error message:

A:Generate a system health report does not work

Take a look at C:\Perflogs. See what is in that folder.

As a test, rename C:\Perflogs to C:\Perflogs-save then create a new C:\Perflogs.
Try the health report, see if it works now.

My PC has slowed to a crawl. Performance monitor says CPU is constantly 50-60% busy with nothing happening on the screen. System Health Report says A device is disabled preventing it from working properly.Details:The device, Officejet 4500 G510n-z, is disabled. If this device is no longer used it may be intentionally disabled. The Plug and Play ID for this device is ROOT\MULTIFUNCTION\000

Yet Device Manager says device is working properly.

When I Googled the problem, many sites suggest that malware is to blame. I have had McAfee Security Suite running all the time and McAfee system scans say no problems exist. Can someone suggest a course of action?

A:Slow PC, Health Report says Device Disabled but Dev. Mgr. says its ok

What processes are using up the CPU cycles as shown in Resource Monitor? Rank them from most to least using the CPU column header.

I wouldn't necessarily trust McAfee here and would download and run something like Malwarebytes.

Does the Officejet in fact work OK and does this problem go away if it is disconnected?

Good morning. I am a first time poster (with not much tech experience). I just generated a General System Health Report on my HP Pavilion DV6 x64 bit laptop.

Under the results, I receive the following Warnings/Error

Symptom: A service is reported as having an unexpected error code

Cause: One or more services has failed. The service did not stop gracefully, suggesting the service may have crashed or one of its components stopped in an unsupported way.

Details: Service exited with code not equal to 0 or 1077

Resolution: Restart the service

Symptom: The Workstation service has stopped abnormally.

Cause: Application Error. Exit code 1077.

Resolution: Restart the service

Could you please advise me as to what this means and how I can fix it? Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide me.

David

A:General System Health Report Error - Please Help

Hi David, and welcome to vistax64.

First, please enter your system specs in the lower left portion of your window.

Then, go to c:\windows\minidump , zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it to us we can help.

When you receive the warning, is the system rebooting? Blue Screen?

Since apparently they removed the Performance and Information Tools section of the Windows 8.1 Control Panel, I haven't been able to find a way to generate a System Health Report.
Anyone got a good guide on how to generate one? Or did they remove the capability of generating one? I know I had one in 8 but I upgraded to 8.1 and nope. No section for it? D:

Can anyone help me? On Vista Home Premium SP1, when I run the Generate System Health Report inside Reliability and Performance Monitor, it "collects data" for the 60 seconds and then gives me an error box as follows:

"An error occurred while attempting to generate the report:
The wait for the report generation tool has timed out."

Can anyone help me solve this? I would like to use the system health report feature. Thanks in advance.http://www.techsupportforum.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

A:Generate System Health Report Problem

Problem solved. For those having same issue: For whatever reason the "Generate System Health Report" function inside the Advanced Feature of Reliability and Performance module does not work properly. The graphic and detail is actually generated, but is not able to be displayed as a REPORT. To generate a system health report, you must set up a "USER DEFINED" data collection set.
Once a user defined data collection is set up, start the data collection and when it stops (at whatever duration you previously choose) the graphic monitor and html report will be available to view under User Defined Reports.

I am having periodic BSODs all of a sudden. I have attempted to debug the problem and have downloaded new MB and Video Card Drivers but all that seems to have changed is some info in the dump file.

Second issue is in gathering the information to post here.

I am experiencing problems with getting step 3 done with the Resource and Performance Monitor. When i run it i get...

Code:
The wait for the report generation tool to finish has timed out.
A solution i read online was to boot up with no services running so i did so and the outcome was...

Code:
The system cannot find the path specified.
Attached is a zip of the information i was able to retrieve.

Before we can ascertain the true cause you need to:
1-ASACPI.SYS

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: ASUS teK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.SYS file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

2-Update to SP-1. Run the update readiness tool then update.

Hi, After upgrading from vista to windows 7 i tried to generate a system health report. now , i never had problems with this before, i ran the windows scannow in cmd and all is fine , i checked the performance and logs service and that was started and manual , the reports are being registered in the perflogs folder but the tool used to generate the report in HTML seems to time out and is incapable of generating a report like in vista before the upgrade. By the way i'm running 64 bit home premium windows 7 , asus P5Q motherboard and an ATI Radeon 4850 graphic card, Thanks for any help in solving this y:

Well People, Just to give you some feedback, It seems that the in-place upgrade feature offered to migrate from vista to windows 7 has some flaws. This feature imports files which are somehow corrupted or modified ,which can result in a number of small "glitches".For myself i resolved this issue by doing a clean install and this was the fix.apparently some people do not think that the in-place upgrade should be available ,for this has created a number of small but annoying problems.Best RegardsGreg

I have windows 7 with Microsoft security essentials up-to-date but when i check the system health report(Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools\Generate a system health report) it says there's no anti-virus

A:Microsoft security essentials missing in system health report

It's said that since I began using Windows 7, in the Beta build 7000 back in January 2009. Using Avast. I don't think it's anything to worry about. The system is aware you have a AV installed. You can tell from the action center giving you a popup when you don't have one installed. Had discussions of it from a long time ago, can't remember exactly what the answer was for why it's like that though. Either something with the programs vendor not bothering registering some file with it for detection in the health report, or having to be on Windows 7 fault that they never bothered fixing yet.
