where is DNS server info. in my pc?

Q: where is DNS server info. in my pc?

I am setting up a second computer and putting it online with mine. I am to the question of DNS server. I don't know what that is, other than it is numbers and can't find it anywhere. Please tell me where to look in my running computer for the information. rreeset

Preferred Solution: where is DNS server info. in my pc?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: where is DNS server info. in my pc?

What's the OS?

Start - Run - type "cmd" and press Enter.
Type "ipconfig /all" and press Enter.
You will see your DNS Servers.

Start - Run - type "winipcfg" and press Enter.
Click "More Info".

How are you setting up your network? If you are using a router, why not use DHCP?

I am currently using windows xp, and dsl. I just downloaded incredimail to write emails and recieve them. I am not able to recieve emails but can send them. When someone writes back it goes to my verizon account as that is what the server information is on incridimail.

I normally use netscape for my email address and would like my recieving emails to come back at incredimail however, when I try and configure netscapes server info I don't know what it is or how to obtain it without paying for there tech help.

Is there another way to get netscapes server info? I have dsl thru verizon and they just got me registered so now whenever I send emails from the incredimail account, anyone answering these go directly to the verizon email account and ZI want them to come in thru incredimail. I have searched everywhere on both sites and still cannot configure this mess.

Thanks for any help

A:Server info for netscape

Welcome to TSG!

If I understood you correctly, you want to configure your Netscape email account in Incredimail. If memory serves me well, it is very similar to setting up in Outlook Express. Use the directions from the link below to setup your Netcaspe account in Incredimail.

I have two old HP5 (parallel port only) printers that are just wonderful. They are the absolute cheapest to operate at less six-tents of a penny a page and more dependability could never be expected from any device. I've been looking at print servers, the internal one made especially for my printers and other external ones made to work with any parallel port printer.

My last experience with generic (those not made for a specific printer) print servers was that they would run out of memory and quit a print job at the point the buffer was full. For that reason, I sort of considered them second rate parts and never used them again. That was about 7 years ago.

Occasionally, I will send 200- to 500-page print jobs to the printer and it prints it just fine, start to finish without a hitch. If the print servers still suffer from this buffer problem, I don't want to waste my time finding out the hard way.

Question: Do today's generic print servers from reputable companies like Linksys, Netgear, etc. still suffer from these buffer problems, or have they solved that?

just incase anyone was having trouble with the updater.....this is why.
Server has moved.
At about 8 p.m. (GMT+2) yesterday, the main server (security.kolla.de) was no longer reachable, displaying a 404 error. The integrated update function wasn't working either.

The reason for this was that my webspace provider moved the pages to a new server, most probably because of over a million page hits yesterday. This (unannounced) move was finished at midnight according to their information, but until the page is available again there may be a delay of up to 24 hours.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused (I was as surprised as everybody else). Still waiting for an explanation from them why they did this without speaking with me first, and without keeping the old pages online until all DNS have the new IP.

P.S.: because security.kolla.de was not available, many visitors tried security.kolla.com instead. Due to the high amount of Spybot-S&D visitors, the owner of kolla.com was kind enough to forward the kolla.com addresses to this site temporarily. But if you want to bookmark this page, please open http://security.kolla.de/ and bookmark the correct page.

I will attempt to be as clear and concise as possible. The situation is that a company is being purchased by another company. Company A is being asked for information by company. Company B wants all of the information required to remotely access company A's servers as soon as the transaction is completed. The problem is company A no longer has IT support or even anyone onsite who is capable of providing this information. Company B has specifically requested a domain password. I have been given this responsibility because I am the closest thing they have to support. I have established remote access between personal computers in the past. But never a company server. How can I direct those onsite through the process of accessing the required information from their servers and then possibly setting up a vpn or remote test to make sure it works? Is a domain password all that company B will require to remotely access servers and network of company A?

I need to know my motherboard information for a Compaq PL1600 6/450 (I think this website has it, I have a 450Mhz Pentium II processor http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10034_div/10034_div.html )

One thing is that I can not boot it so will not be able to use any programs that detect it automatically. I have a few serial numbers (which I have no idea how to read) and one picture I took (which I believe would only help if we had a small sample of motherboards to choose from.).

The boards are split in two (three if you count the small one that connects the two larger boards together as well as containing connections for the IDE cables and SCSI cables and power.)

The top board which has PCI, battery etc.. has a small white sticker with a bar code then some numbers and characters.

I work in an office where Outlook reigns supreme.
My manager has been overseeing multiple accounts via Outlook and it's not going well.  He constantly is replying using the wrong email account and causing quite a bit of confusion.  He NEEDS separate email clients to limit his own confusion.  So I figured he'd be better off have multiple email clients... Outlook having his personal main account, Thunderbird (or similar) with the other email account(s).
Here's my issue, the company uses an in-house server for email.  I'm attempting to set up Thunderbird and it's asking for an Incoming  IMAP (or POP3) and Outgoing SMTP.  I'm not exactly sure of this and so far my guesses have been gone.  Just curious if someone knows where to get this info from through Outlook.
I've browsed Google, but every result is for an Internet Settings, not a Server Settings.
OS: Win 7 Professional 64bit
Program: Outlook 2010
Let me know if more info is needed.

A:Obtaining Outlook 2010 Server Info

Since you are using an in-house email server, you will need to get that information from the IT department or whoever manages the in-house mail server.

My first and last experience with a print server was with a small, cheap one that would not handle jobs over about 30 pages. If you gave it a 200-page job, well, it would just quit after about 30 or so pages.

I have an HP5 printer in my office connected to an always-on computer. Well, occasionally, I would like to turn that computer off or maybe go into DOS mode to play around with things there. That makes the printer unavailable to the rest of the network. I would like to use a print server; but, I don't want to run into that print server's memory barrier when I want to print a 400-page document.

I admit that beyond the knowledge of a print server's intended basic function, I know almost nothing about them.

Any suggestions or knowledge anyone cares to impart would be appreciated.

I am trying to set up a DHCP server, I need to know what other services are required along with DHCP example: WINS, DNS, ,etc.. Also what protocols to install besides TCP/IP. I tried NetBEUI and was able to log into the server with my laptop and a crossover cable, but when I use only TCP/IP it says there is no domain to verify my log in. But when I was able to log in the IP address was the same on every login, it was something like 169.???.???.???. Also when connecting a hub do I need to have some kind of serial connection from the hub to the server or just patch cables from the hub to the NIC cards. Thanks for the help.

(Message from Reuel: Just cleaning up the ALL CAPS off)
[This message has been edited by Reuel Miller (edited 08-21-2000).]

A:{Advice Offered} - DHCP server & Hub info

I see Reuel hasn't gotten to this yet, so I'll give it a shot...
With my DHCP Server (PDC), I've got it with WINS, pulling the info from another site. Put WINS on there so you can resolve the computer names from the IP's...That way the only protocol you need is TCP/IP. If you're not getting your WINS info from somewhere else, you'll need to set up your lmhosts file. Put those settings on your server, add the new computer to your domain, then log on. If you've still got that 169.xxx.xxx.xxx do an ipconfig /release, then /renew from the command prompt, and I suppose that should be that.
As far as the connecting with the hub, I believe you can just run the patch cables from the NICs to it, if there is a switch for "normal" on the hub, go to that, not "uplink". Then again, I could just be talking out of my arse here.
But I honestly think the best thing to do is to try whatever Reuel has to offer...He's the man, in case you didn't know.

I have a SOHO with several computers running XP Pro. I recently inherited a Lexmark MarkNet Pro 1 (sans installation CD, unfortunately), and I'd like to hook up my printer through this print server directly to my router so that the printer is available to any computer that is on. When I plug everything in, I can print a test page that shows the TCP/IP address of the printer, so I assume that part is working. But when I go to add the printer, the computer can't "see" the print server. In the Printer Wizard, I've tried browsing for the print server/printer, and I've tried entering the URL. I've also tried creating a standard TCP/IP port. All to no avail. I'm not a networking expert, and I think there must be some small key point that I'm missing. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

A:Need basic info on setting up a Lexmark print server on XP Pro

Go to Lexmark and get the drivers etc. first:

When I installed my printserver (Netgear PS110), I had to first install the PS-driver on each PC. Then (re)install the printer drivers as a LOCAL machine, not-shared, and when it comes to selecting the printer-port, you select the network-port that has been installed by the PS-driver.

I assume that Lexmark won't be that different.

Using a laptop [Dell, using WinXP Pro] at both the office and then when traveling, I have some files and folders in my C drive that I sometimes save there, and then also save onto my server drive [G], and vice-versa.

Is there a utility that can "mirror" or "synchronize" the files and sub-folders w/in designated folders of my choosing so that both sets [the C and the G drives] are both updated and then reflect the same files, etc.?

Yea, there is a Synchronize w/in the Tools of Windows Explorer, but that seems to be for a totally different purpose... What I would like is to do the above task w/ like a one or two button click, that would then take care of doing its function in the background.

Any ideas?

Now I know that this topic has been posted recently as well, but I haven't been able to clear it myself, unfortunately. When I launch Win7 Chrome boots with a website (sd-steam.info ) that directs me to zodiac-game.info. I've looked through my reg files and found on Run > there is a file under my user name stating ''explorer.exe st-steam.info''. Deleting this helps, but temporarily as it always comes back shortly after
( it seems to come back when a black /cmd/ screen pops up for a slight second ). Restoring my pc to a point prior to the downloads didn't seem to help either. I've a few pirated games on this pc, but nothing too recent. I hope it won't cause an issue that the reg file under Run has been deleted ( in hopes of repair ).

Greetings friends! Can someone please help us remove this "SD-Steam.Info" problem that's on our computer? This is what happens.
-> Upon turning on the computer, a browser will open up leading to "SD-Steam.Info" or sometimes "Zodiac-game.info" site.
So far the temporary solution that we were able to come up with was block SD-Steam.Info and Zodiac-game.info via the host files. Because of this, even if something tries to open the browser (we use Chrome), it would only display a blank page and go nowhere.
Unfortunately, whenever we use Malwarebytes to remove it, the redirecting problem comes back and gets detected after restarting the pc. In other words, it somehow still manages to resurrect itself or re-create itself.
We also tried deleting the entry of SD-Steam.Info from the registry via regedit, but just like before, it keeps coming back everytime the computer's restarted.
Someone suggested "Farbar" and from what we've seen, that one seemed to work with others who have this similar problem. Unfortunately, since Farbar is new to us, we don't know how to properly use it and we don't want to mess with it. Can you please help us use Farbar in order to eliminate this redirecting problem?

Yesterday I bought a new mother board for my PC my Processor model is AMD Athlon II X3 440 Triple Core Processor, but after changing Mother Board in system information it's showing my Processor as AMD Phenom II 4 B40 four core processor. I don't know why it is showing like this. Is this dangerous for my hardware? I used AM2N68-AM PLUS before and now I changed M5A78L-M LX. Except this every thing else is perfect.

A:Processor info is showing wrongly in system info after changing MB

It's not dangerous, but I believe you can get it to display correctly. All you have to do is open Device Manager, right-click each entry for the CPU and choose Uninstall. When you're finished, reboot and then open Device Manager up when it's done rebooting and check the CPU again. It should be showing up correctly after that, but if not then we'll go from there.

So I am having this problem too since few days. After starting my PC, firefox opens with sd-steam.info and redirects to zodiac-game.info after few seconds. I do have few pirated games but nothing changed and I do not installed anything recently.
My observation:
There is a regedit entry called sd-steam.info, if I delete it and restart my PC, the pop up is gone but randomly the entry keeps comming back at a point. There is also  a taskeng.exe (or something like that) pop up for a sec it is just black and says nothing but it is gone really fast. I think after that the regedit entry is also back.
I tryed multiple malware removing tools already but there are no hits.
I know that the internet is full of this right now but I can not find a working solution. So my questions are:
What is this? Is this damaging my files and causing more problems or just an advertisement?
How can I fix it and remove it completely?
Sorry for not the best english. Please help!

I upgraded my PC from an old Pentium Celeron to an AMD Athlon 64 3200.
When I checked System Info, the processor was correct but it showed 512 mhz at first then went up to 1.00 ghz. The system should read 2.00 ghz as it has in the past.
Does this reflect the actual speed? Why would it be less if this is accurate?
I have SP2 sucessfully installed, shouldn't that take full advantage of my processor?

Hi Guys
After not being on the internet 4 ages i'm now trying 2 do some research on the net. For this purpose i'v bought the latest version of Norton AV and have set it automatically update itself.
I have now just received a warning titled Messenger Service and was wondering if any of u cud help me understand it better. The warning says:

Message from SECURITY MONITOR to WINDOWS USERUSER [sic] on 26/01/2005 15:55:10
Important Windows Security Bulletin
Buffer Overrun in Messenger Service Allows Remote Code Execution, Virus Infection And Unexpected Computer Shutdowns
Affected Software:....
Your system is affected, download the patch from the address below!
My Questions are:
- Is this a hoax or from a trusted source?
- If it is a hoax as i presume owing to the strange language used and spelling mistakes, what does one call this?
- [email protected] cud happen by clicking OK?
- Wud u recommend having a look @ the www.updatepatch.info website?
- How does this get on my pc and how can i stop it in future?
Details: I use Windows2000Pro ServicePack4, InternetExplorer version 5.50.4522.1800IS, my provider is AOL (british version 8.0) who state that their software stops pop ups, b4 the window popped up had just installed Yahoo!Messenger. Hi they

Welcome to TSG!

That is bogus. You need to disable Messenger Service:

Click Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> Administrative Tools->Services
Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

Bear in mind that the fact that these messenger popups are getting through indicates that you have a poorly configured firewall. The Messenger service uses UDP ports 135, 137, and 138; TCP ports 135, 139, and 445. These ports are open and vulnerable to hackers and trojans and disabling Messenger Service is only treating the symptoms and not the disease as it were.

I might also add that if you need to upgrade to IE 6 SP1. It is much more secure that IE 5.5.

Hello, I hope all is well with everyone. I have been meaning to join a good computer forum group as I am interested in education and knowledge in respect to computers.
I am having an issue in my new household that I am not very comfortable with, I rented a nice room in a house with 4 other people, separate tenants. There are two individuals though I do not want to judge or anything but come across in every way, sketchy to say the least. I get along with them both so to speak, the one guy I talk with everyday, have coffee with, socialize etc. the other, not so much yet and I have the intuition to say he could be a little schemer if you will.
Putting that aside, history lesson over lol, as I do not want that to cloud/effect the judgement of advice or help.
Me along with 3 of the other tenants are connected wireless to the internet, these two individuals mentioned above have felt the need to feed Ethernet cables directly from the router through the ventilation system to there rooms. I found this to be a little suspicious, really no need for it, the one guy I talk with everyday and socialize with is a big gamer so I kind of understand his want to be connected to the land line. Anyhow, never the less this leads me to today's issue, I had to bring my computer downstairs to install a nice camera for my cpu, I had to connect both my cpu and the camera directly to the router via Ethernet cables. The tenant I don't know so well, came downstairs while I ... Read more

Do you have file sharing turned on?  If so, any folders you've marked as shared could be seen by others.  If you haven't done either of these, I'd say don't worry about it.

Hi, I recently started getting occasional popups using FireFox (on websites such as CNN.com) for a fake RegistryDefender program and also advertisements for adult websites. When I try to X out some of these ads, a dialog box pops up asking if I really want to cancel or not; at that point I end the process in task manager rather than risking further infection. The website at the bottom of the popup window is cpv.servefeed.info at first and then changes to something else and brings up the false Registry Defender ad; I'm not sure if there are different addresses for the adult website ads.

I've been reading up about this on yours and other boards and and think I almost definitely have a tricky malware of some kind. I have only used FireFox on my computer lately, so I'm not sure if its simply a FireFox issue? I've run MBAM and Norton Security Suite scans with no results. Was thinking about using Norton Power Eraser, but I figured that might cause more damage and professional help would be preferable.

I've got another CPU in the house connected to the same router I get internet for this computer, so I also am wondering if my other PC is at risk of being infected by being connected to the same router? Another issue I've had the past few days is my internet going out on my PC (I use a wifi router on my mother board to get internet); I thought this might be my mobo overheating/breaking, as powering down the computer completely and restarting has always... Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.

Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. I have 6 computers in a workgroup that need to be synchronized to a workgroup server.  The server is a virtual Win 7 running on a Windows 10 host.  Neither the server or client computers have internet access.  I started the process by configuring
the host to use its CMOS clock as its time source, which seems to have worked. The client computers are not virtual and can communicate with the Win 10 host as I am able to RDP to the host from the clients.  I made the following registry key changes to
get that accomplished.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

After applying these changes, I ran the following 'w32tm /config /update /syncfromflags: NO

I get a message that the command is successful.

I'm having a bit of a weird issue with track changes showing some author names and not others, apparently without regard to the document settings:

Doc was originally created in Word 2007; the "Remove personal information from file properties on save" box is UNCHECKED and grayed out.
I am using Word 2010. When I make changes or comments, my name shows up as the author and this information is successfully saved with the file. Others are able to see my name as the author.
My colleague is using Word 2007. When he makes changes or comments and hits save, he shows up as "%USERNAME%" (but my name stays on my comments). I have checked his settings and the "Remove personal info" box is UNCHECKED and grayed out.
Is this some sort of compatibility issue between Word 2007 and Word 2010? Something else? Any ideas? Any help is appreciated.

Also, in case it matters, I and my colleague are both using Windows 7.

Hey All,

I am working on a server and recently two of their mail accounts have began not sending out email. When I first looked into the outbound box, the mail I sent out is still pending. It usually takes anywhere from 1 minute to several hours to for it (Argosoft Outbox) to be delivered. Also, when I send out a email to that particular a particular address, it will just sit there.

I have also done scans with AVG 8.0 and found that it had I-Worm/Bagz.D infection. I quickly quarantined that infection as to not allow to infect other files on the pc / server. I have also done a Hijack This Scan, please can someone look at this and tell some about what I am making out.

I am having an issue with offline files created offline syncing back to the server. I have set up a network share to be available offline on a client computer. All files are available offline without issue. Here is the issue however. If I set the folder to work offline any file I create in the folder when it is offline just disappears when the folder comes back online, there are no conflicts or sync failures reported in sync center. If I create a new folder offline the folder does sync back to the server. Any changes made to an existing file are also replicated back to the server once the share is back online. So the issue is only with newly created files when the share is offline. I have not been able to replicate this error on any other file server in our environment, However I have recreated the issue with multiple shares with multiple Win 7 clients on this file server.

Steps taken so far.

Checked and reset permission levels on the share.
Recreated new shares from scratch for testing.
Disabled and enabled offline files on the client computer and cleared the offline cache.
Check various registry entry settings.
Disabled cashing on the File server.
Tested with XP the issue does not exist with XP.

I have spent hours researching this error online to no avail.

The clients are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit
The File server is Server 2003 Standard 32 bit with SP2

Any help or ideas would be most welcome.

I've seen the complaints about this problem but with no clear resolution. There are some hot fixes listed that may help, updating to Windows 7 SP1 is supposed to help in some cases but nothing seems for certain.

No way for me to recreate this problem but apparently others have the same problem.

Emergency Management Services is a new feature in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 that supports remote management and system recovery for servers that are not accessible through a conventional connection. By using Emergency Management Services with other software and hardware components, you can remotely perform tasks such as recovering unresponsive servers and powering servers off and on, even when they are not accessible through a standard network connection. Emergency management services also supports headless servers—those without a local keyboard, monitor, or mouse. This document provides an overview of Emergency Management Services and its components. It explains how to choose and configure hardware and software that supports Emergency Management Services. It provides guidance for enabling Emergency Management Services, and information about using this technology to troubleshoot problems with remote servers.
