Yoga 900 USB Type-C Connected to HDMI Disables Mou...

Q: Yoga 900 USB Type-C Connected to HDMI Disables Mou...

I fought this problem all day and I think I have it narrowed down. System is Lenovo Yoga 900 i7 with Windows 10 with all latest updates. Application is Citrix Receiver 4.5. When using Quickbooks with the Citrix Receiver, mouse clicks are disabled/not recognized. All keyboard inputs still work, the mouse arrow tracks correctly, but mouse clicks seem to be ignored. This behavior occurs when booting to dual monitor setup with HDMI adapter in the USB Type-C port; booting to single monitor (Yoga), then plugging the HDMIR adapter in the USB Type-C port. The only resolution is to boot to single monitor (Yoga) and work in single monitor mode exclusively. I am using the USB Type-C to HDMI adaptor purchased from Lenovo. This occurs with the Yoga trackpad AND occurs with my USB wireless mouse. Also note with native Windows applications, the mouse works fine with both monitors connected and active. I really bought the HDMI adaptor to use two monitor with the Citrix Receiver. I have tried to Google this problem, but I'm unable to find a Citrix Receiver support site/forum that would be appropriate for this question. Any advice appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello and welcome,

If you mean HDMI, I realized I hadn't ever checked if the sound works.  Just plugged it into my Samsung TV.  Got a movie playing now and sound works fine.

This is the adapter I'm using.  There are others but this one is working for me.

Having an issue with my X1 Yoga  riinning Win10 64-bit and all firmware & drivers are up to date. I often plug in an HDMI screen to my machine and when I do and step away for a few mins the screen goes blank to save power etc. When I return and click these or hit a key the backlight on the laptop comes back on but no image is displayed on either the laptop nor the HDMI monitor. If I unplug the HDMI cable then the laptop screen comes back perfectly and then I can plug the HDMI back in and get the image back on my larger monitor. This seems much different issue then the "blank screen" I read up on and appears to be a detecing from sleep state issue in the driver etc. Anyone else have this? Any fixes for this as I'm plugging the HDMI in/out/in 5 times a day or more... This never occured in the past so appears to be an update issue.

Hi,

Windows driver assignment disables Soundmax HD sound drivers for Asus X-FI Sound card, when a HDMI video cable is plugged in, and instead loads another for the screen speakers.
Unplugging the cable, and then do a "Scan for hardware changes" in device manager, still only finds the wrong one.
Video card is Ati HD5850 (that features sound streaming through HDMI)
Screen is Acer GD245HQ that has no build in speakers.
Sound drivers AD1988_AB_AUDIO_V6585 Win 7-64bit (that used to work)
Reinstalling the SoundMax drivers is not possible, as the installer can't find the X-FI card, any more.
Any idea how to fix this ?

A:HDMI Video connection disables soundcard

Breydel, welcome to the Seven Forums.

You left out one rather important bit of info from the specs you listed, the make and model of the motherboard. Judging from the fact that it is the SupremeFX X-Fi (which is not a X-Fi at all by the way; it also isn't an actual sound card but just a riser card that contains the onboard audio), it is an Asus motherboard.

Now with that said double check in the bios and make sure that the onboard audio is set to enabled and not auto if available, as it sounds like the bios is auto disabling the onboard when it detects the audio built into the video card.

P.S. If this only happens when using the HDMI connection on the video card and you are not sending audio to the monitor, then the quick and easy fix would be to use the DVI connection instead.

The history appears to show an automatic update occurred overnight.  I was running Windows 8.1.  I upgraded to 10.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the intel video driver, I reinstalled the chipset driver.  I have trimmed the micro HDMI cord as suggested in one of the posts.  I have seen enough posts on the various boards to know my issue does not seem to be an isolated case... but I haven't been able to find an explanation of the cause or a reliable solution.  Any help is appreciated.

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... This sounds a lot like a prior thread about porblems with BIOS 1.08, but that thread ended up marked as solved, while for me the issue returned on the latest BIOS update to 1.12. My CPU temp got up to 92C without the fan coming on. Conclusion: there still seems to be some kind of condition where the BIOS completely disables all cooling. I think it's the same problem as that earlier thread, and it's clearly not solved. Thankfully it IS possible to get out of this state by rolling back the BIOS version to the one that worked, instructions are posted here and three posts below that for further clarification.  Symptoms: you start noticing that the TPY gets oddly hot during normal use, or it experiences a forced shutdown due to overheating. It's also completely quiet. But: the fan itself is operational because you hear it briefly spin up during cold boot.  Given that LoneSentry mentioned that the problematic BIOS 1.08 did work on second install, there seems to be some 'random' glitch in the update process or in the BIOS. Meanwhile I'm pretty unhappy that I'm having to do continued truobleshooting on this machine.   Edit: going to the BIOS update page I saw that a newer BIOS was available (1.13), which you can install without having to disable Secure Rollback. Lo and behold. the fan is working again. The fan started blowing full speed right at the start of the EC flashing procedure. This is NO... Read more

Yep. At revision 1.13 and this is still going on. I have to roll-back BIOS revisions and then roll-forward to get the fan to work again. I've nearly burned myself in tablet mode quite a few times now. I just updated to 1.14 so we'll see how that goes.

Im using the hard drive decryption and therefore need to enter password before booting. Once in a while, the keyboard refuses to work directly After a restart. backlight comes up during the first second. But at the password screen it just doesn't respond. I have to plug in an external USB keyboard to enter the key. After that it starts and Boots into Windows where the internal keyboard is working again. I am suspecting the keyboard disabeling mechanism when you put it into Yoga mode, because the error seems to happen more often when the keykeyboard is folded away. Do you have any suggestions how to resolve the issue? So the problem is that my LCD TV has a scrambled picture when my computer is turned on and connected to the TV via HDMI. BTW if I remember it right, I had the PC connected via VGA last weekend and didn't have this problem. I will double check it in the morning.
Maybe I'm using wrong setting with PC... wrong Hz or sth. Anyhow maybe someone has had similar problems and solved it.

the VGA doesn't transfer data signals through digital technology, it uses analog, that's why the picture appears correct on the VGA, the HDMi though uses a technology called HDCP handshaking, the PC needs to handshake the display for it to show the images being encrypted from the desktop, if that handshake doesn't take place then the image will appear scrambled.

you can read up about HDCP here High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia but your options are just to use the VGA cable, or if it is a software fault then ... Read more

Hello everyone!

First of all i would like to thank everyone for the answers and help you share and i am new to this forum. I tried to search before making this thread but i havent found any answer that could help me.

I just bought 2 LCD monitors ( Acer and Asus) they all work perfectly But i have a problem, a huge one. The Asus monitor refuses to work when the VGA (acer) is connected and vice versa.

The Asus is a 23" LCD monitor, its connected via HDMI.
The Acer is a 18,5" LCD monitor, its connected via VGA.
My laptop is an Acer 7736, 2,20 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, 1GB graphic card from ATI Radeon.
So i beg you please to help me, i have tried everything possible, been trying for the last 7 hours and i even downloaded Ultramon but it doenst work either.

I only want them to work in same time, what can i do?

Here is the link, i even tried updating the drivers on the graphic card but nothing works.
Thanks in advance!!!

A:HDMI trouble when VGA connected

A lot of laptops do not have the ability to go to more than two monitors (Edit: this is including laptop as monitor). You can probably have both work if you close your laptop lid, otherwise, only the laptop and VGA or laptop and HDMI will work. (Edit: if you close laptop lid, the two monitors VGA and HDMI will work but only with laptop monitor closed)

I think there is a piece of hardware you can purchase that can turn a USB port into and external display adapter, but I don't know if it was GFX card specific or if your card needs or supports a particular piece.

My laptop suffers from this as well. I tried it and confirmed it after seeing issue on this forum a few weeks ago.

I have an Elitebook 8530p that I am trying to connect to my TV so I can view online TV on my TV screen. I can stream the online TV and watch it on the laptop ok, and I can connect the laptop to the TV with HDMI cord and I see the picture on the TV too, but as soon as I push the play button and it starts to stream the Laptop freezes. This happens on both TV's in our house with different HDMI cords which leads me to believe it is an issue with the laptop (not the TV's or cords). I have tried pushing the Fn + F4 buttons to clone it but that makes no difference. I have tried changing the display settings but I don't really know what I am doing! Another post said to choose full HDMI setting but even though the laptop has a HMDI port it didn't appear to have that setting. Is it too old?

A:Laptop freezes when connected to TV through HDMI

The problem is most likely the video card driver, so yes technically your laptop is too old, but luckily you can save that geezer! If updating the drivers doesn't work then you can try changing resolutions.

A:PC connected to Philips TV via HDMI but no signal

Typically what happens is an update changes one of the settings, then it is just a matter of checking out the settings.  With the TV set on the correct HDMI input and the computer connected via HDMI, right click on an empty spot of the desktop and then pick "Display settings".  There should be a graphic showing the monitor with a "1" inside. Directly under that it should say "Identify"   and    "Detect".  Click on Detect to have Windows look for the TV.  If things are working, it should then find the TV.

A:No sound when hdmi monitor connected

Try clicking the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your monitor, click playback devices, your monitor should be listed there and you need to set it as default.

Hi,
I just did a fresh install of Win 8.1 last week and my TV which is connected via HDMI is not getting detected as a display on my PC. My monitor was detected fine.

When i right click my desktop and go to screen resolution, the TV doesnt show up there even post clicking detect. Same if i go into AMD CCC and click on detect.

However Win 8.1 can detect it. The TV is seen in device manager under digital media device and i can see the TV under Devices and Printers in Control Panel. I've tried troubleshooting it but it says everything is fine.
But I need it to come up as a display so i can use it as a primary display at times or to duplicate display.

I had no such problems with Win 7. It would detect right off the bat.

Things ive tried:-
I've installed the Omega 14.12 drivers and the Beta 15.4 drivers.
I've tried installing them in Win 7 compatibility mode too, but the installer then wouldnt give me the option to install the display driver and the HDMI audio driver.

One thing i notice is that the driver for the TV is provided by Microsoft and the date of the driver is 6/21/2006! So maybe this needs to be updated. I tried to click on update driver but it says my driver is up to date.

I also have all the latest windows updates installed.

so not sure what else to do here.

Please help.

A:Win 8.1 - TV connected via HDMI not detected as a Display

The 2006 device driver is simply the generic one which is normal, same one I get when TV is plugged in.
What HDMI port are you using? One on motherboard or one coming directly from GPU? This almost has to be a graphics driver problem.
Why would you try installing drivers in 7 compatibility mode? We are talking 8.1 here right? Have you tried drivers from manufacturers site?
A laptop or desktop? Motherboard and GPU make/model?
So, so many details you've left out.
Would help to have some system specs.

Today my notebook Asus M50Vn suddenly started to behave weird. While it's connected to plasma via HDMI, everything starts to stutter a bit, which is very inconvenient in videos. It works like this: 0,5 s of fluid picture, 0,1 s of freeze, 0,5 s of fluid picture, and so on.

Situation is the same on primary (built-in) monitor and secondary (plasma), as well as on youtube, VLC, PotPlayer and MPC HC. DXVA and CUDA won't make any difference, choosing different video renders in player's settings won't do the help as well. I've already tried to install older and newer drivers (graphics is Geforce 9650m GT) but it didn't help.

Computer is 100 % virus free, there is COMODO IS for on-access security and I've also checked it with malwarebytes, hitman pro, emsisoft emergency kit, kaspersky tdss killer and CCE. Almost all processes are disabled.

It's interesting because there's no problems when plasma is connected via VGA.

Unfortunately there's no useful system restore points.

Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I was wondering if someone can help me.

I updated to windows 10 some months ago and realized my beats audio panel was gone. I few day back I re installed the High Definition Audio Device drivers and beats audio seems to came back.

I recently bought a denon amplifier and noticed very low sound when I connect the notebook to the amplifier through hdmi.
Is the hdmi sending the wrong signal? are there any new drivers for hdmi controllers or realtek sound card?
My laptop is a HP envy 17 j011nr (i think so) core i5 beats audio
Thanks a lot in advance!!!

Realtek shouldn't even be involved with the HDMI sound. I suggest to update your laptop's drivers and use "Intel Display Audio" as your HDMI driver. Set the volume to max then you're good to go.

Nothing is showing up on the TV. I selected the Extended screen option & nothing. I looked in Display Settings & no second screen is being detected. Even though on the TV itself. It reads that a HDMI is connected to the specific HDMI port. Windows 10 says my Drivers are all updated & my Displey Driver is AMD Radeon R7 200 Series

A:HDMI connected to Monitor & the other end connted to TV

If the title of your post is accurate.....then that will never work. You have to connect the TV to the PC with an HDMI cable and then do the same thing for the monitor. You need 2 cables. No other way around it.

When my laptop is connected to my TV via HDMI the laptop display shows on the TV but the sound plays though the laptop speakers and not the TV. I have had this problem since I bought the laptop in October 2013, when it was running Windows 8, it is now running Windows 10, which has made no difference. I have tried updating the drivers for the graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M), Intel HD Graphics 4600 display adapter and speakers. If I go into the playback devices the TV does not show up, even when it is set to display disabled and disconnected devices, but I don't know why. I know the problem is something to do with my laptop and not the TV or HDMI cable because it works with 2 other laptops in my house, and the TV is shown as an audio device on both. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

OK, that driver should have worked. Just click on that folder 7-zip created because I want to show you where to find the driver.  We are now going to try to force the installation. Click on the folder and it will show several folders.  Click on the DisplayAudio folder. Then there are two folders inside that one.  Click on the top one listed (6.16.00.3178). Then click on the IntcDAud Setup information file and you will see the driver for the hardware ID you posted. HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2807&SUBSYS_80860101. Close out of that now. Go to the device manager and click on the HD audio device again.  Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option again, but this time at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.  Then click on Have Disk and browse right to that IntcDAud Setup information file and see if the driver will install that way. If it does, restart the PC.  If it doesn't, unfortunately, I have no idea why that driver won't install because it should have worked using the first method. But that missing driver is why you have no audio from the HDMI out port.

A:Notebook Is Slow While Connected To HDMI

Well normally I'd have said it was just your laptop struggling to upscale the image due to hardware limitations. But a 9650gt should be more than capable.
What happens if you disable the laptop screen and just use the tv as a primary monitor?

Erm.. Try a different HDMI lead and lower the resolution a little. But that's clutching at straws lol

Hi everyone, I just got a new sound bar (Yamaha YAS-105) which only supports Dolby Digital 5.1 (AC3, I think) and I want it to smoothly transcode all of my DTS or newer audio to a multi stream AC3 in both MPC player from the latest K-lite mega pack, VLC and Winamp, or rather, if possible, just in general. If I play something thats DD5.1 in K-Lite's MPC it neatly picks up the audio and displays it as DD on my sound bar, same thing goes for DD5.1 in VLC etc. but as soon as I play something in DTS or higher there is no audio. I've been googling and tweaking the settings already and after messing around a bit it does play sound through MPC but none of my Dolby lights light up on my device and it doesn't sound like 5.1 either, the weird thing is that no lights go on, not even the PCM light just the TV light is connected and it gives a sort of stereo with subwoover sound (so 2.1). If anyone can help me out I'd be very grateful, I know it's possible because it works with media boxes as well, I just can't get it to work on windows... Any extra info, I have an Alienware X51 RC1, Soundbar is a Yamaha YAS-105, like I said it's hooked up via HDMI to my TV and my TV through a Digital optical cable to my soundbar.
