Preferred Solution: PC freezes on FLASH video, but only on web, error report says DCOM error

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I am getting a task bar message that warns of high memory usages by autobackup. Size is 1.191 gig. Then I get a new dialog box on the desktop that advises there is an autoback error report that is blank and I have to reboot. I heve uninstalled the program and reinstalled and now have version 4.60.0.7494 installed with no change. I got the original program with a Seagate external HDD

Thanks!

Addendum:
I forgot to attach last autolog files...I think the file was uploaded

A:Autobackup error report freezes computer

Hi hal eisenberg and welcome to TSF.

Has this only just started to become an issue or is it an on-going situation? If it has just only recently started to happen, do you have an anti-virus program installed that may be scanning all attached devices and maybe slowing down the process whilst increasing CPU usage.
Is the backup program set to a certain time of the day, or is it constantly running when the external HDD is plugged in?
Have you ever used a third party program as your backup program instead of the Seagate Autobackup?

The text file you attached in the other thread didn't have any data in it.

Hello

I wonder if anyone might be able to advise what to do with my PC, apart from smashing it to pieces, which is what it is likely to get very soon.

I am using XP with Service Pack 2 and Outlook, using Word as the e-mail editor. I have Zone Alarm running on the PC.

Everything was working perfectly up until a few days ago, then for no apparent reason, whenever I tried to reply to an e-mail by clicking Reply, it would freeze. It would give me the egg timer, the CPU would start showing 100% in Task Manager and that would be it. Nothing.

If I tried closing Outlook in Task Manager it would take about twenty attempts before closing it, finally giving me a Windows error report.

To add to the confusion, sometimes the Outlook would be fine for a little while and sometimes it would let me reply to one or two e-mails before freezing, as described above. Also, sometimes it would only give me the egg timer for a minute or so, before opening Word to allow me to reply to the e-mail.

Another thing it was doing intermittently was telling me it couldn't find Word, then giving me the option to reply to the e-mail using a basic page, which showed the text I typed in blue.

I checked the settings and Word was shown as the editor, despite Outlook telling me it couldn't find it. This was intermittent, occurring at various times along with the above-mentioned problem in no discernible pattern.

I tried detect and repair, which did absolutely nothing.

Last night I got fed up with i... Read more

A:Outlook Freezes PC When I Click Reply - Egg Timer, 100% CPU & Error Report.

Just to add, I have looked in Task Manager under Processes, and whilst it is doing this freezing nonsense in Outlook, 'WINWORD.EXE' is being shown as taking 98% of the CPU capacity and about 20MB of memory usage.

Could this be the problem?

EDIT: I can shut down the WINWORD.EXE process in Task Manager, which of course brings up an error saying it can't find word, then allowing me to use the standard Outlook editor, but then when I try to send the e-mail it freezes again and then it's the OUTLOOK.EXE process that is taking up 99% of CPU capacity.

Thanks

Mike

A:DCOM [10005] - DCOM got error "%1058"

Hi,Your system is severly infected. Problem with these infections nowadays is, it causes a lot of damage. Even if we clean the malware off your system, I can't guarantee that your system will be clean afterwards, because these infections/bundles leave a lot of leftovers behind that most scanners won't even recognise and logs won't show. Also, I can't promise you we can repair all the damage it caused... Even after cleaning the malware, you can still get errors afterwards because of the damage. Solving these is not always possible since it will be searching for a needle in a haystack to find the right cause and solution. So, we can try to clean this up and do what we can, but keep in mind that we can't solve ALL problems this malware already caused. In light of this it would be wise for you to back up any files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start. Reason I am telling this is because when a system is so terribly infected and we try to clean this up manually, the damage that is already present may interfere with our removal attempts. * Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofixPost the log from ComboFix in your next reply.

I posted this earlier but reposted this and erased the old thread because I have more information now and have narrowed down the problem (I hope). This problem just happened yesterday after I had to manually shut down (used power button) my computer after it froze. Now when I try to load up IE, it "halfway" opens up (you can see parts of the interface) and just freezes. I thought maybe it was an IE problem, but if I try to load up Firefox (even without loading up IE first), nothing happens -- it won't load. I load up the Task Manager and firefox.exe is there as a process even though it hasn't loaded. The only way I did figure out to surf the net is to load up "My Computer" and enter a web address from there manually. But even when I do that, if I click on any link that opens up a new window, IE will try loading that new window up which freezes. Right after this happened, I get a "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error" (still do every now and then. I also d/l'd the "patch" for this from Microsoft's website to no avail) which says something about svchost.exe and some other exe's. I think it has something to do with networking because I loaded up "Event Viewer" from the Control Panel and I managed to track down the error I get *each* time my computer starts up These errors I get are *all* dated right after I had to manually shutdown the computer and when the problems began. recently (about 2 weeks back) i have been receiving 1 of 2 error messages either dcom server process launcher terminated unexpectadly or plug and play terminated unexpectadly, when these messages occur (usually every2-2 1/2 hours) im given a 1 minute countdown at the end of this countdown my computer restarts. while this doesn't seem to be harming my computer it is amazingly annoying, also if i go on yahoo search and look for a item i click on a link and im redirected to an advertising site: this occurs every 3 out of 4 clicks of said link. i have tried every antivirus software i own norton antivirus, malicous removal tool, windows defender, and malwarebytes nothing has worked every scans shows no infection. im not the only one having this problem several sites and forums i have visited has people with the same or similar problem which has happened to them in roughly the same time frame. if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it because so far my only option would be to reformat my computer and reinstall every thing and i would really like to avoid that. please help me bleeping computer your my only hope.

This started happening exactly on January 11th, 2014. I should have asked for help earlier, I know, but it hasn't gotten this bad until now. When it first happened, it gave the "Windows must now restart because the DCOM Server Process/Plug and Play terminated unexpectedly" or something along the lines of that every 5 minutes or so, and forcibly restarted my computer. After installing MBAM and running a few quick scans, I cleared all the threats that came up, and the Plug and Play error ceased to exist. However, the DCOM error still popped up every 1-4 hrs (it was very random, and rudely interrupted me in the middle of writing an essay or something.) After a few months, a new error popped up saying "Windows will now restart in 1 minute." It basically had the same effect as the DCOM error. Just today, it has started popping up 5-10 min after boot, and has been VERY annoying. I downloaded Kaspersky's TDSSKiller and scanned my computer, and a suspicious file came up saying "Dcomlaunch". After finding the file location, it was rpcss.dll from the Windows/System32 folder. The only thing I can infer from this is the dll must be corrupted or infected. I don't know what to do with this.  Please help me fix my computer ASAP!

A:Windows error report keeps popping when tryin to open the drive containing video file

The problem is I think your video files got infected.
Wait, how come a video file can get infected?

It can. Please post the details of the error message to proceed further.

If your error message is the normal windows error message where You get your windows explorer has encountered a problem, blah, blah....

Then ignore it and try to play the video using WMP. Watch the video for 10 to 20 sec. if its trying to open a web page. Then it has got infected for sure.....

This is probably not considered BSOD, though it sometimes crashes system - usually just lose display and control so need to force shutdown.

I have had this problem since I built this HTPC in 2010 (Core i3 540 w onboard GPU, P7H55D-M EVO MB. Original system was W7 Ultimate x32 4 GB Kingston SSD. Recently reinstalled to W7 Ultimate x64 8GB Samsung 850 Pro. The problem persists exactly as it did before reinstall.

System is a dedicated HTPC with Windows Media Center, Ceton InfiniTV4 tuner card and LG WH08LS20 Blu-ray drive.

The problem is related specifically to Blu-Ray disc playback using PowerDVD (currently version 14) plugin within Media Center. The problem has never occurred in any other situation.

Scenario: I start viewing a Blu-ray movie. Playback proceeds normally and without issue for some time (typically 10 min to 1+ hours). Eventually display / audio freeze, then display disappears, system cannot be accessed to reboot, shutdown, rdp etc. Only solution is to force shutdown using pwr button. Upon reboot, Reliability Viewer always shows multiple video hardware errors per attached documentation.

I followed instructions for capturing information, though a few days after last occurrence - and again not sure there is BSOD dmp associated with this event. I did however also capture the Reliability Viewer information (1st occurrence and last occurrence) - details which include .dmp files.

Hoping to resolve this finally. Please let me know if addition... Read more

I am running windows xp media center edition with service pack 3.
After turning on my computer I get a message that says:

Name: Generic Host Process for Win32 Services

Then after my computer is on for a few minutes I get another message that says:
This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Time before shutdown: 0:59
Message
Windows must now restart because the DCOM Server Process Launcher Service terminated unexpectedly.

I have read that the win32 error is from microsoft updates, but when i go to the website there are no downloads for me. For the DCOM error I have used the run command: shutdown -a, but that is just a temporary fix. I have run several scans and nothing has fixed this. I have also tried to restore my computer to an earlier time and these are still here, and when i tried to go back further it was not successful in the restore. Can someone please help me. I think rebooting could maybe make things worse, so I figured it would be better to ask for advice before attempting to reboot again, so I don't have the scanning information required.

I began to have problems with my computer this morning (June 29). Last night I had let windows install its updates, rebooted, and left the computer on overnight. When I got up the next morning, it had an error about win32.exe encountering an error and needing to close, one of those error report ones. The first time I didn't bother telling it to send. However, afterwards the taskbar disappeared and ctrl+alt+del didn't do anything. I had to reboot manually, and then it was fine for a while until having another win32 error report, which I sent, and after which my sound failed to work for certain things. My winamp had an error about missing something and wouldn't play, and a youtube video's sound wouldn't play. I didn't have to shut it down manually this time, and the shutdown sound worked. The sound worked again afterward, but I tried virus scanning with Avira and it stopped on svchost.exe.mdmp at 22.1%, and it only found a java/openconnect.l for a ?detection?. I tried getting the task manager, and when I tried ctrl+alt+del and clicked it, it not only didn't give me the task manager at all but it took my taskbar, and then nothing else would work when clicked. I rebooted again and tried running MalwareBytes, and then after a couple minutes the screen went black and then turned blue, and had this:... Read more

hey, i was wondering if someone could help me out a little here. i have recently set up a new XP system and every now and then it becomes unstable and wont do respond correctly, so i have to switch off and on again (shut down wont work). I checked my event viewer and it seems to be something to do with DCOM as everytime the computer has become unstable, i have three or four error entries under DCOM. here is the error:

{00020906-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
The user is Unavailable/Unavailable, SID=Unavailable.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I found a microsoft article here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290398

but i cannot make sense of the resolution, i do not know wheree the list of application servers that it is talking about is. It is event ID 1003 and it is listed in the above article.

if anyone could help me out in anyway i'd be very grateful. Thanks

"DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enable devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service ImapiService with arguements. "

I have no idea what this means so could someone please help out with this and let me know if it is a big problem and how to fix it?

Thankyou very much

As per Microsoft: "These error messages are generated because another application, such as Microsoft Transaction Server, has already started the Dcom (the Distributed Component Object Model) Service. These messages do not indicate an actual problem and are benign." The recommended solution is to install the latest Service Pack

I have a reocurring sytem reboot issue. Every 1 to 3 hours my system blue screens and reboots. Insanely annoying!

I am running windows xp service pack 3 on a HP AMD machine.

The error message in the system log is always the same save the server address.

The server {209500FC-6B45-4693-8871-6296C4843751} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Here is what I have done so far but with no luck.

After reboot, Windows tells me he shut down was a driver issue and to update my drivers.
I did that and even purchased "Driver Robot" from Bltizware to help me identify what drivers I am missing, yet the problem still continues.

After reading several posts from this website, there seemed to be some indication that this error was caused by Malware, so I purchased "Spyware Doctor" from PCTOOLS, yet the problem still continues.

So I am out of options and I have researched the problem to the best my abilities so now its time to ask for help.

Help?

hi,

I have some problems with my Windows XP. After I turned on my laptop around half or several hours, I cannot open any other IE windows. In the systems event viewer, I get an error message:

"DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service ImapiService with arguments "-Service" in order to run the server:

{520CCA63-51A5-11D3-9144-00104BA11C5E}

The event ID is 10005.

I found the information of this event from other forum about the Microsofts response from the helpcenter as following.

====================================================
Symbolic Name: EVENT_RPCSS_START_SERVICE_FAILURE
Message: DCOM got error "%%%1" attempting to start the service %2 with arguments "%3" in order to run the server:

Explanation
The Component Object Model (COM) infrastructure could not start the named Windows NT service.
User Action
Review the Windows error code displayed in the message. If the error indicates that the system is out of memory, save your work, close other programs, and then try to start the service again. Alternatively, increase the amount of RAM installed on the computer.

If the message displays a system, server, or configuration error, contact your service support vendor.

Hello,

I for the life of me cannot figure out what the problem is. I have the same issue (video freezing when watching flash videos ie. youtube, VEVO etc...)I have updated my flash software as well as the driver for the video card and even tried another video card in my system. I find this very strange because it only seems to happen with Flash and no other video file format. Any help would much be appreciated as I have been struggling to have this problem fixed for months now.

Thanks

Now any video from anywhere freezes after playing just a few seconds. A google search finds a lot of similiar problems but no real solutions. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey there folks wasn't sure where to post this so here it goes, I was going through my event ID viewer, and cleaning it up like I normally do, and noticed quite a few of these little pretties running around, I clear it, thinking it was a one time thing, I go to check a few hours later and noticed I had another one.

I haven't a clue as to what could be causing this honestly. And was just wondering what was going on with it. It's the only event I've had show up as an error for a long while.

Thanks in Advance!

Welcome to TSG....

I hope you have the recovery or windows install software.

You might have to remove the hard drive from this computer and install it in another computer as a slave drive and after it is able to be accessed by Windows on that computer you will have to manually backup all of your important data that you have to another media like CD-R's, DVD or Thumb drive. Then when this is done return it to the original computer as a master drive on the primary IDE cable and do the following:

If you do not understand the Registry material presented here, either find a technically knowledgeable friend or do not attempt to repair your system Registry yourself. I hope you have the Windows software for this machine. Please give this a try and print it out for reference

I'm pretty much stuck at that point. One guide tells me to look in the Localserver32 folder which I get:"C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NetworkAccessManager\bin32\nSvcAppFlt.exe"Another tells me to click or use the AppID: {066FCC09-2096-4EEF-AA2F-353DB80F1BF8}As stated, I don't see either in the DCOM Config list.
