I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone.I am planning to buy the T480. In this review: https://youtu.be/puJewEKS_1Y?t=617I saw that there is a adapter for the M.2 SSD. My question is, If I buy the model with the HDD. Will the notebook come with that adapter? so later I can upgrade to a M2. SSD. Thank you in advance.

I created a Storage pool with the following setup. Three 3TB drives with parity all in an external enclosure with eSata and USB 2/3 ports. It was connected via USB when created and had production data loaded and tested without any issues.
After a few days of use I decided to see what happened when I tried to access it via the eSata port. No luck, due to a driver on the eSata card issue with Win 8. So I powered all back down and plugged back in via USB. At this point the Storage pool went
into the state as per the screenshot below. Any suggestions to either fix the issue and/or retrieve the data that is in the volume?

As usual any help is really appreciated.

Windows 7.
With Google I couldn't find answer, how to handle USB removable media inside camera.
With camera there is no "Safely remove hardware and eject media" option.
When Photo camera is connected, a new camera device is installed and GUI window is opened with option to browse or copy photos. But there is no removable storage devise eject button on notification area. The USB removable Storage devise is also present on File Manager Computer left panel but again, there is no mouse right button eject option as normally with removable storage devices. I have checked in on several computers. How to understand. I don't believe that it's camera specific but Camera is Canon S95.
Any ideas?

A:How to handle and difference of USB storage and in Camera USB storage

Can you set the camera to "Disk Mode"? If so, it will treat the camera as a flash drive.

Has anyone tried the new Storage Spaces feature in Windows 8? Your experience with it?

More specifically:

1. If this system is used on a shared network with other operating systems such as XP and Windows 7, can the storage pool drives be set up as shared, and become visible and usable from the XP and Win 7 machines?

2. If you have a Network Backup drive, like WD My Book Live, will it see and back up the Storage Spaces configured drive just like any other drive on the network?

A:Storage Spaces (Storage Pool) Experience?

I've only set this up on a Windows Server 2012 configuration therefore I cannot provide the exact steps on how to set one up in a client environment. That being said, a storage space/pool is essentially a virtual disk that resides on one or multiple physical disks allowing you to accumulate free space. For example if I have multiple servers with free space on their data drives I can then create a storage pool to accumulate this. To allocate this storage pool/space to a user or machine you will need to decide what you wish to do with it. Below are a couple of examples of how:

Share via Windows Folder Sharing (UNC Path)Use iSCSI to use the current ethernet infastructure allowing you to assign the storage pool/space a drive letter to the client machineIn a server environment you may wish to use it for DFS (Distributed File System) to maintain redundancy

Personally I use my storage pool as an iSCSI drive for which i have partitioned.

   Warning
You can only use the free space of a non Windows install drive. To my knowledge you cannot overcome this with partitioning.

In relation to your second question, you will only able to use the share as a safepoint backup if it is shared via Windows Folder Sharing. For example: \\computername\share

Also you will need to make sure that the NAS is on the same workgroup as the Windows 8 machine hosting the storage pool otherwise it will not be able to find the share. Hopefully this is what you asking however pleas... Read more

Hi,Recently bought a T480 with the 150MX Nvidia card. The laptop works great during normal operation during work etc but when I get home and want to play some games, nothing is working as it should. What happens is this:When I start the game everything is running good but after a few minutes I can see my CPU start to lower it's power limit (PL1) slowly towards 5W. It will stop at 5W never gaining any wattage back until i restart computer. The PL1 is at 15W when computer is newly booted. I have tried to uninstall the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework, this results in that the processor is fixed at 15W but after a while the iGPU will go crazy and goes to 100% leaving the CPU at 2W = 0.2Ghz. And I have to restart. So this is not a valid solution. All my power settings are on maximum performance ofc.I have tried almost everything I can think of and been browsing all kind of reddit threads without any long term solution.

I ordered a T480 with the Geforce MX150 option. Was surprised to see my delivered unit with Intel UHD 620 and simultaneously active with the Geforce GPU. The Intel GPU however is the default display adapter. Intel UHD 620 is active display adapterI've never quite seen this before. Desktop mainboard BIOS would typically disable the onboard GPU if slotted with an actual video card (leaving the OS blind to its presence), and all my previous laptops that I configured with a discrete GPU would have just that alone. Am I supposed to disable the UHD 620 in Device Manager in order to force the Geforce to take over? I don't see anything in the BIOS that can influence this (in fact it seems to suggest the UHD is in charge with its shared memory setting).

Hello all, Just received my sixth thinkpad in the last 23 years. It arrived yesterday.  It is a: T480, I7-8550U, 16GB(8+8), 512 M.2 SSD, iGPU, Win10 Pro The fan is really annoying.  It goes on and off constantly.  It seems to ramp up to full speed.  I have been reading about fan noise with this model all over the internet.  Is there a way for it to run constantly at a lower speed than the constant on and off?  My previous model was a T430 never had issues with fan noise (it was very quiet too when it ran). Currently running a test:  Not using the laptop at all.  Opened 1 tab on Chrome and have it sitting on cnn.com.  Also, opened one tab on Edge also on cnn.com.  Task manager open.  Chrome uses less CPU but more memory than Edge.  CPU is running between 15% and 20%.  Fan turns on every minute or so for about 20 to 30 seconds then goes off. It is loud and annoying going on and off.  Why can't it just be a constant lower speed?  On and off is ridiculous.  If this keeps up this machine is going back. Thanks for any replies and suggestions.

Hi everyone, today I upgraded the RAM and the SSD of my T480. I am absolutely not doing this for the first time and I was really careful. I removed the external battery and deactivated the internal battery before starting with the procedure. I used only ESD-safe tools and an ESD-wristband to make sure that the device doens't get damaged by static discharge.After installing the components, my device would no longer turn on. When I connect the charger, the power led flashes 3x but when I press the powervbutton nothing happens. No fan spin, no lights turning on, absolutly nothing.I then tried removing the RAM and the SSD and turning on the machine. But that didn't work as well.After that I tried removing all the power sources (internal and external battery, CMOS-battery), pressing the power button for 60 seconds and leaving the device for 1 hour before reconnecting everything. But it still can't turn it on. Do you guys have any idea what I could try to make my device work again? Thanks in advance. --resonance

We just purchased 20 of the T480 laptops, with 40AF ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock's.  We are having several issues with these devices:The internal battery drains almost all the way down before the replaceable battery drainsThe monitors connected to the dock don't work in BIOS and pre-windows logon screen.  We are unable to enter the bitlocker unlock key without using the laptop itselfThe USB ports on the dock cut in and out.  You'll be moving your mouse and all of the sudden it stops moving, then jumps accross the screen.  You'll be typing, and all of the sudden you'll get 10 of 1 character.  This happens about every other minute or so. Sometimes the dock and laptop don't proprly recognize each other.  The orange light on the dock never turns white, the laptop never chargess.  The only way to fix this is the power cycle the dock. I've tried 2 different docks with my laptop, and they both have the same issues. Running BIOS 1.12, and I see the new BIOS version's don't fix any of these issues.

So while I work on a lot of lenovo systems (average 90+ a month, several models), I am starting to notice an issue with the T480 systems. I have been seeing an issue where people are not closing apps and just putting their systems to sleep, while this normally stops everything, I am noticing that the systems are still running and becoming overheated. It has gotten to a point that I decided to try this out for myself, and sure enough I came back, screen was black, system on, and I cannot turn it off! I pulled the basecover off and had to disconnect the internal battery (ONLY PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIANS SHOULD BE DOING THIS) in order to stop the system. After letting it cool for 3 - 5 minutes, the system starts back up with no issues, now I have seen this as well with several other T480 systems! Is anyone else starting to notice this? Is this a T480 issue or a software issue? Thanks

Hi guys, I am planning to purchase the T480. I am a Linux user, therefore, I will be installing Ubuntu 18.04. I will use VirtualBox to run a windows system which will be used to do word, excel, visio stuff. This will run through out my work day. Apart from that, I will also be spinning up other ubuntu VMs to run / test software and apps occassionally. The config I have in mind for the T480 is as below:- Intel Core i7-8650U Processor (8MB Cache, up to 4.2GHz)14.0" FHD (1920 x 1080), IPS,Anti-Glare,250nit32GB(16+16) DDR4 2400MHz SODIMMIntegrated Graphics (Intel UHD Graphics 620)1TB Solid State Drive PCIe-NVMe M.2 2280 OPAL 2.0 So I am opting for the integrated graphics as I will not be playing any games or doing any graphics / video editing related stuff. Also so that I can save on battery consumption. However, I also notice that if I opt for the MX150 graphic card instead, there will be 2 heatpipes resulting in better cooling system. So, I would appreaciate some advise on this. Is it ok to go with the intergrated graphics with the work I do? Will the system heat up if running multiple VMs ?Should I invest on the MX150 for better cooling ? And will there be significant usage of battery with this ?Overall, what is the advise. Hi Folks, Here at the company i work at we recently got lots of X280s and T480s which are fully usb-c for charging and docking station.  We use the thinkpad hybrid docking station and what we've seen is that when we plug in the dock the monitors will take 1-3 minutes to fully startup. The ethernet and charging works as soon as plugged in but thats it unless we wait 1-3 minutes as mentioned for the monitors. I've tried different docking stations and the problem persists. Another issue is the fact that sometimes the LED light next to the USB-C port stays lit orange even when not plugged in. I've done the latest bios and thunderbolt firmware updates.  The two drivers that fail when plugged in are the UCSI USB Connector manager and an Unknown USB Device Port reset. ive already uninstalled them but they keep coming back like that.  Premier support said to change settings in the BIOS which we did together but the problem persists, they said the next step is to switch out the motherboard but this has happened to 30+ machines so we cannot keep having this issue as it affects our users productivity.  Hoping to hear that someone here has an resolution and that we are not the only ones experiencing this major hardware/software failure related to the X280s and T480s

I have a user with two LT3053s (2560 x 1600) and his previous T440 + Ultra Dock (I believe) supported the full resolution at 60 Hz (again I believe).  I upgraded him to a T480 and our standard Type-c dock that we deploy limited the screens to 1920x1080 @ 60Hz.  After this and complaints from the user of headaches from the drop in resolution we purchased a TB3 Gen 2 Dock and even after plugging the dock in to the actual TB3 port on the laptop (not the top type-c port) we are having issues with not all of his devices working, namely the kb+m. Any ideas here?  Right now we are running it with the 135W power adapter that it came with, but there is also another power adapter available that did not come with the unit we purchased.

Given Macbook Pro 13's and XPS 13's have been shipping with Iris Graphics in the past few releases, will Lenovo make the new Intel 8559u CPU available on the X1 and/or T480? Coupled with a high brightness display it could be an interesting alternative to a heavier 6-core 8750H with dedicated graphics. Anyone else thinks this would make sense for a Lenovo thin laptop?

Hi, I bought a t480 and would like to upgrade the main bay hdd to ssd. My questions are 1. What ssds are best right now. Sata or m.2 pcie? ight now i am rooting samsung 860 evo as my first choice. Should i go for Sata 3 or m.2 pcie? i am aware that pcie lane us only x2 so i will not be able to utilize the speed of the pcie. Is it the same with the sata 3? 2. Do i need special casing or connectors if i will install samsung 860 evo? 3. Do we have other better options?I also read crucial mx-500 ssd if that is more practical. Im planning to use my t480 for coding. It has i58thgen 32 GB Ram and dedicated mx150 graphics and also instaled a 240 GB ssd form 2242 in wwan. Thanks for your help. Ps. Where to buy the ssds in great prices and reliability?

Lenovo ThinkPad T480, Product Number 20L5CTO1WW, BIOS N24ET48W 1.23, Windows 10 64 bit. All updates distributed by Lenovo and Windows are applied. No unique, custom settings to power, sleep, battery, etc. The laptop will wake from sleep about 75% of the time. The rest of the time, the Windows 10 log in screen appears but neither the keyboard nor mouse respond. I always have to hard restart in those instances. There is also no consistency regarding the occurrences, such as whether it occurs when the computer is on battery before sleep and then power after sleep, or battery before and after sleep, or power before sleep and battery after sleep, and power before sleep and power after sleep. Under all such instances, I have seen this issue occur where waking from sleep stalls and requires a hard restart. Thanks for the guidance on how to address the issue.

Using the trackpad on this T480 (i5 8350u, mx150, 16gb) results in jumpy cursor movement, especially at low speeds. It doesn't really hinder the usability but it's definitely not smooth. Is the trackpad just *like* this? Or do I have a dud? What I've tried to troubleshoot: This isn't a screen issue because my wireless mouse tracks very smoothly.I'm on the latest intel + nvidia drivers on windows 10 1803 (latest updates).I've also tried using the trackpad on ubuntu live usb and it is also jumpy there -- so is it definitely a hardware issue? Any ideas? Should I return it?

My T480 came with the standard 512GB NVMe SSD in-a-caddy. I'd need some more storage so am attempting to tweak the laptop, putting in 2 SSD into the 2.5" space. Here's my plan: M.2 2280 NVMe/SATA
-> Proprietary connector (F) on the motherboard
-> Proprietary connector (M) 00UR495
-> SATA-600 (F) 00UR495
-> M.2(NGFF) SATA KEY B+M SSD to SATA Adapter card
-> Crucial MX500 M.2 Type 2280 SSD

M.2 2242 NVMe slot
-> NGFF M.2 PCIe M-Key extension card with 20CM cable
-> Lenovo SSD M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe 512GB OPAL 2.0 SSD M.2 2280 Samsung (FRU 00UP490)I thought of extending the M.2 2242 NVMe slot with an extender card but turns out it doesn't fit. These are the two pieces I'd like to connect by an extender card: Motherboard: Lenovo T480 M.2 B-key (NVMe only x4 slot, x2 physically wired)https://imgur.com/rutbx72--> The 6 pins on the bottom (only 5 physically wired) suggest to me that this is a B key M.2 slot.NVMe SSD:Lenovo NVMe SSD M-key (PCIe GEN3 x4 NVMe)https://imgur.com/dI1AyRq The extender card I had attempted early, but that doesn't fit the M.2 2242 NVMe slot:http://eshop.sintech.cn/storage-adapter-ngff-m2-pcie-c-130_137.html Am I correct to conclude that the M.2 2242 NVMe slot is B key? Or is this a more special WWAN slot or alike?
