wps connect to wireless router(supported dual band) in windows 7

Q: wps connect to wireless router(supported dual band) in windows 7

Hi,
I meet a issue on win7 Professional(Service Pack1) as connecting to a wireless router supported dual bands(2.4G & 5G). After one SSID get PBC prompt, other can't get PBC prompt on win7.
But click two SSID(2.4G or 5G) can both get PBC prompt on win10.Pls help check why Only one SSID can get PBC prompt on win7 and other can't get PBC prompt on win7. Then
win10 has no this issue. Thanks
The steps are in the following.
1.enable 2.4G & 5G wps on wireless router
2.click "Connect" button to connect a 2.4G SSID firstly in win7's Wireless Network Connection (not choose "Connect automatically")
3.win7 will get 2.4G PBC promt that display "You can also connect by pushing the button on the router"

4.win7 fail to get 5G PBC promt(pic1 no ""You can also connect by pushing the button on the router") if click "Connect"
button to connect a 5G SSID later
5.Reboot win7, then click 5G SSID to try to connect 5G firstly
6.Win7 get 5G PBC prompt and fail to get 2.4G PBC prompt later if click 2.4G SSID.
We find WIN7 client also meet this issue in following dual-band routers ( 2.4G & 5G wifi chips are same vendor)
Netgear R8500(2.4G BCM4366+5G BCM4366)
Netgear R8000(2.4G BCM43602+5G BCM43602)
ASUS AC-1200 (2.4G MT7612EN+5G MT7612EN)
Then we test same following steps on win10 as connecting to a wireless router supported dual bands(2.4G & 5G). The 2.4G and 5G can both get PBC prompt("You
can also connect by pushing the button on the router")
1.enable 2.4G & 5G wps on wireless router
2.click a 2.4G SSID("cth_w_2.4_1") to try to connect 2.4g on win10
3.win10 can get 2.4G PBC promt that display "You can also connect by pushing the button on the router"
4.win10 can also get 5G PBC promt if click a 5G SSID("cth_w_5g_5") later.
The behaviors on win10 are different to upper win7

Best Regards,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What is the highest speed possible when connecting the wireless-AC wifi card to a wireless-N router? My wireless-N machines get 100Mbps speeds on my wireless-N router but the wireless-AC machine only gets 35Mbps. I understood "AC" to be backwards compatible with "N". Is does connect but the speed is much lower than the "N" equiped machines. Do I actually need an "AC" router?

So my girlfriend and I just inherited her dad's Netgear WNDR3700v3. They said the power switch on their surge protector got cycled one day and suddenly the router stopped broadcasting its SSID. After swapping out the router they still had various wireless connectivity / general internet issues, so they got their ISP out and found that specific issue was on their side... I'm not really network savi, for whatever reason, but I know that SSID broadcasting has to be on and the Wireless Radio has to be on. Both boxes are checked for both bands in the router setup and the indicator light is solid-on on the front panel of the router, yet I still can not detect the signal on our phones. What's really strange is that after putting a hardline from the router to my computer I can connect via my computer's WiFi... What could it be?

Thanks in advance.

N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400.

I am trying to get a signal out in my garage at the opposite end of my router location. I am getting 1 bar and "poor" signal. I downloaded inSSIDer to analyse my signal and I notice that my "Wireless Network (5GHz a/n)" is not broadcasting anything. The checkbox for "Enable SSID Broadcast" is checked.

I have very limited knowledge of this stuff but it seems to me that if it is a dual band that I should be seeing 2 different signals, right?

All I see is this: Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)

I have attached screenshot of my settings

Can someone help me out with this? Thanks, Joe

My Billion BiPAC 7800VDOX Dual Band Wireless VoIP ADSL2+ Router has two bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. and is wirelessly connected to my laptop OMEN by HP Laptop PC 17-w007tx. It always shows as connected via 5GHz band only. My laptop also shows 5GHz band only in the list of available networks; 2.4GH does not show up in the list of available networks. It is not so in my other laptop which is also connected to the same router and that laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks. Thus, I can choose to connect to any of the two bands as per my choice. I have tested the router and it is working perfectly; there is nothing wrong with it.I wonder what can possibly be wrong in my OMEN laptop that it does not show both the bands which it should. At times, when I click to open the list of available networks, 2.4GHz may appear momentarily only and then disappears; thus I can not choose it for connection. I would appreciate any help to resolve this issue so that my OMEN laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks so as to choose either one for connection.

I would appreciate some help deciding on the best purchase of a USB wireless adapter for my Windows 8 computer.

I use a Netgear WNDR3700v4 dual band Router, but sadly have discovered that my Windows 8 computer's network adapter only receives 2.4Ghz. Thanks to our cordless phones - I lose the internet every time the phone is used (only on the Windows 8 computer - 7 hums along just fine).

So - I guess I shell out some more money for a USB wireless adapter with 5Ghz capability. I would prefer a mini dongle, but if that's not a good choice I'll live with the stick poking out.

Anyone care to suggest a brand of USB adapter with 5G that plays well with Windows 8? Does it matter if it's USB 2.0 or 3.0?

Hello, I just got my E560 on 9/27/16. It has windows 7, 64 pro installed. I plugged in the battery and waited an hour or so before turning the system on. Everything booted ok and I entered my hidden router for my wifi. Unfortuanly, it would not connect. I finally dug out an old ethernet cable to hook up and test the system and download some software. I then unhid my router and still was not able to find it. Everyones router in the neigborhood showed up but mine. I call tech support but they claimed that it was my routers software. I have 4 other devices working just fine on the wifi and I even set my printer up for wifi while the router was hidden with no problem. I checked the Lenovo site for updates but the system said everything was up to date. I went to the Intel site and downloaded their current driver for this card. The laptop finally noticed the router while it was unhidden and I again hid the router and rebooted my Laptop. This cured the problem. However, I was displeased with Customer service they tried to tell me it was a problem with my router and not the system and all my drivers shipped from the factory were up to date. I hope this will help anyone who has a similar problem.

Hello all!

About a year and a half ago I purchased a beast of a router to expand my internet capabilities (or something like that). When I got the thing it worked amazing! I had 0 issues with it for the longest time. But now things are a bit different.

Router: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016EWKQAQ/ref=oh_aui...

About 4-6 months ago I moved from my previous house-(located in a subdivision within town) to a new "trailer home" located quite a ways out from town. I moved in and setup my router with no issue! It worked like a charm. Fast forward about 6 months later; the darn thing won't work! I called my ISP's and they said it's because the router is a dual band router and will not work with their services. But the thing is it was working for such a long time with no issues! I still would love to use this nice router out here but if there is nothing I can do I guess I must invest in a mediocre router.

The problem I'm having is the WAN light is lit a pink color. If I unplug the cord from modem it turns a deep RED.
Please if anyone can help, it would be much obliged. Thanks

Hello, I currently have a wireless WRT54G router in my home. I have a laptop wirelessly connected, one computer wired, and three more wirelessly connected, all with G adapters ATM. So that is a total of 5 computers wireless and one wired.

I was thinking about as a Christmas present for myself upgrading to the new N networking. However, I would keep all the G adapters, except for one, which I would put into the laptop. Do you think I would see an increase in speed in the N laptop?

Also, I am using Comcast High Speed Internet. Do you think I should get the Dual-Band N Wireless Router, or the Ultra RangePlus Wireless N Router? I am not sure how the 5 gig band works, or what it is exactly, but I thought it would be nice to have for the future? IDK? Also what about the 310N router? Just a thought. Thanks!

What do you think I should do in my situation? Thanks. Please feel free to ask me any questions!

Hello

I was thinking of picking up a dual band router during the coming Black Friday sale, but really don't know which to buy or how much I really need to spend.

Right now I'm using a D-Link 655 running on a 25Mpbs connection. I game once in a while, but my main concern is streaming HD video from my main PC to my upstairs PC for my parents. I may also cut Cable at a future date and use the internet for all my TV programing.

I have look at two router so far, a higher end D-Link DIR-880L with up to 600Mbps (2.4GHz) + 1300Mbps (5GHz) speeds and a D-Link DIR-826L with 300Mbps (2.4GHz) + 300Mbps (5GHz).

Is there any benefit of getting a router with a higher transmission rate? since my connection is only 25Mbps or am I just paying extra for a whole bunch of nothing?

I am open to any brand of router, so please suggest ones you had good experiences with. I just looked at the D-Link cause the DIR-655 worked very well.

Thanks

A:Help choosing a dual band router

Don't think you'll get any better internet speeds because even 802.11g is at least twice the speed of your internet connection ( 54Mbps) and 802.11n up to 600 Mbps. So, you know, "The weakest link in a chain" saying ? and "Speed of a convoy is the speed of slowest ship". 5GHz range of frequencies is also more sensitive to interference by walls and other obstructions.

Hi all -
I have a couple of questions if someone has some time to help.

I just purchased a new wireless router (Belkin N600) and it has dual bands 2.4 & 5.

It has the option to name each band's SSID differently. I currently have them set to the same name.

Here are my questions:
1. If the components in my house are set to pick up and log into the SSID by default, will they automatically connect to whichever on is faster or less busy, or will they just log into one?

2. Should I be naming the SSID's differently and specifying which components connect to each one?

Does it make a difference?
For reference, here's what's accessing the router:
2 TiVo's
1 Logitech Revue
1 PS3
2 Laptops
2 Tablets

Thoughts? Am I overthinking this? If everything is working fine now, should I just leave it, or can I improve performance somehow?

Thanks.

A:Dual Band Router Question

Surely some of those devices only have 'a' or only have b,g or n adapters, so will only connect to the corresponding network. I have no experience with dual band adapters so I don't know what options you have with those. If I did have dual bands I would probably be naming the networks differently and would tell each device to which network I wanted to connect.

Hello, I bought a new Cisco Linksys E2500, Advanced Dual-Band N Router. I am going to convert from wired ports around the house to wireless. And received a new tablet and I must go wireless now. I have not set up the new tablet as yet. The new router has a 5Ghz band and 2.4 GHz band. I gave each band it's own user name and password. However, my wireless signal can only bring up the 2.4GHz. I called Linksys and they said the 5GHz was for heavy gaming and the 2.4 was for every day wireless use. I am not a gamer. Would there be a reason to keep this split type of gigahertz? I have tried to connect to the 5GHz band but it automatically defaults to the 2.4 band. Is the speed slower on the 2.4GHz band? Thank you!

A:Cisco Linksys E2500, Advanced Dual-Band N Router (2.4GHz only works)

Hi Aurora,

It all depends on the receiver each device has. Some devices have 2.4GHz and some have 5GHz.

For example, my phone can pick up 5GHz, whilst my PC can only pick up 2.4GHz.

I recently bought a new router, the TP-LINK Archer C5 AC1200 Dualband Gigabit Router. I have been having many issues with it. When I set it up, it runs incredibly slowly for the first hour but when it is up and running it is perfect. The issue is, it doesn't stay like this for more than an hour at most.

If I try to connect to Playstation Network, Xbox Live, or the Final Fantasy XIV data centers, it refuses to connect. Same happens when I try to access random websites such as Imgur, Chemical and Engineering News at the American Chemical Society, or Netflix. I just bought a refurbished Lenovo Y40 Laptop

It is running on windows 8.1 and has a Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160

The wifi speed is significantly slower than any other phone or laptop using the same connection. I used the Intel Driver Update Utility 2.0 software to download up to date drivers.

I have tested this laptop on two different internet connections (two different houses). The wifi connection receives about 7-9 mb/sec download with 2-3 mb/sec upload.

Using a ethernet cable, I receive about 30-50 mb/sec with 10/12 mb/sec upload.

It is impossible to play any online games because my computer constantly experiences high ping spikes (400-1000ms) every 30 seconds or so.
Is there any suggestions or software you guys know of that can help determine the problem? My 4 year old Asus laptop runs 3x better than this one.

Hi there,

What is your signed up bandwidth? Is the issue only happening to your own Wi-Fi network?
Is this speed coming from your own network directly plugged in to the router or modem?

If it is, you might want to fiddle with your router's wireless mode a/b/g.

I have just purchased a new HP Pavilion and want to upgrade the wireless wlan card. This is a great PC and has a Intel Core 4 Gen i7 and so far works good when connected to my LAN via Cat6. I am having issues pulling large CAD files and in looking over the service manual the only option listed for a duel band card is a old N Intel 3160 (1X1) from 2013. I Contacted Intel and was informed that the card should work but that HP tends to Whitelist there BIOS in order to keep customers from upgraded there workstations. The issue I am having is the the Intel 7260 is not listed in my service manual BUT is currently available as a driver download on the support site listed as a Intel 7260/3160 driver. Does anyone know if this product is whitelisted on the BIOS? I have listed the part I am ordering below for reference. INTEL DUAL BAND WIRELESS AC 7260 - (2X2 NETWORK ADAPTER PCI EXPRESS HALF MINI CARD -802.11B, 802.11A, 802.11G, 802.11N,802.11AC, BLUETOOTH 4.0 LEModel Number 7260.HMWWB.RTigerDirect Part Number: IE2-102594433List Price $29.99 As you can see the value in spending $29.99 and the return on investment this offers this is a no brainer compared to the "stock" Realtek Wireless Card that comes standard on this computer. Also would like to point out that this computer was only $479.99 at Best Buy and came with and 4Gen i7 and was too good a deal to pass up. No idea why HP would but such as inferio... Hi: From the several posts I have read on the forum you should have no problem installing any wireless card you want in your notebook, as it appears that HP has done away with the BIOS whitelisting of wireless cards. Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. Memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=7582630& Now, I have some bad news for you... You will void the warranty if you install a wireless card or memory yourself. Unfortunately, you have to pretty much take the whole notebook apart to get to the hard drive, memory and wireless card. You can refer to chapters 5 and 6 of the service manual for the removal and replacement procedures.

My sons' ThinkPad Yoga is extremelly slow when surfing the web. Can it be that the original wireless card does not support current wireless technology standards? Is there a recommended wireless card upgrade for this model? The hard drive is almost empty, he only uses it for college work and basically uses MS Office products. No gaming applications in this box. See system specs attached. I updated all the drivers. Any ideas?

Hello,I have been having serious problems with my HP Pavilion 17 Notebook's WiFi driver. It first began with periodic disconnects when I was using Windows 8.1. When I would close the notebook it would disconnect from WiFi, and every few hours it would disconnect as well. (Connection to my router would display a yellow exclamation point, say limited, and all other networks would disappear from view).More recently, within the past week, the disconnects have become far more frequent. I'm talking every 10 minutes or so. Now it's at the point where the lap top is simply unusable. In the past I would just go into devices through the control panel, and disable then enable the Ac3160 driver and that would seem to do the trick to get me through the day. However, now that simply does not work. I am at my wit's end.Yesterday I updated to Windows 10 to see if that would alter the way the driver is behaving - nope.I have unchecked any boxes in power management settings that would disable network connection to save power.I have updated the driver.I could definitely use some help! Thank you.

Hi: Your notebook has a BIOS whitelist which prevents the installation of any wireless card other than those listed in the service manual. They must also have the HP part number on the card or they will not work. Looking a chapter 3, page 29, the only dual band wlan card option there is would be theIntel Centrino Advanced-N 6235, with bluetooth. HP Part # 670292-001 http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c03758231-1.pdf I would check eBay for used but tested and working cards. Query by the part number, and only buy a wlan card where you see the part number clearly listed in the photograph. It will usually be on a white sticker 'Replace with HP Spare..."

I just got the internal adapter Intel Wireless Dual Band AC 7260. I couldn't get it to work at ac speed, it always connects at 54mbps. I have another usb external DLink AC wireless adapter which works fine.
Just wondering if I have to do anything (config/setup) with the Intel internal wireless adapter to make it work at ac speed. I have been to device manager and check but it doesn't seem to have any option for ac mode.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi all - I have a DV7-7230us that I have upgraded massively since purchasing it at a great prices about three years ago - new display, maxed memory, 500GB SDD, Win10-Pro, etc. This laptop has all the capability and raw power that I need for a laptop, but one thing that bugs me is the original wireless mini-card in it - it is single-band, 2.4GHz a/b/g. I would like to replace it with the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 2x2 Networok/Bluetooth adapter (7260.HMWWB.R), but just want to ensure compatibility before I start down that path - has anyone had any success and/or advice I should consider on this? If not compatible, does someone know a compatible wireless AC dual-band card that will work? Thanks!
