Lucid Virtu issue

Q: Lucid Virtu issue

Just assembled a new Z68 rig.

After installing Windows 7/Programs/Games, the system would hang whilst idling in desktop mode. This would require a hard reset. 2D performance was sluggish at best.

The issue would occur anywhere between 10-20mins.

After some checking, I was doubtful of the Lucid Virtu software. After installing/reinstalling (from the driver disk and Lucid website) I still had the same issues.

Removing the software, the system works without issues. Doing some research, I came across this article:

Lucid Virtu - ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Z68 Chipset Motherboard Review | [H]ard|OCP

I’d also like to add that after these initial experiences ASUS sent us documentation suggesting that this feature be used primarily with single GPU AMD HD 5xxx / 6xxx graphics cards only. No mention of NVIDIA dual GPU cards was found in the documentation. I did not have any issues getting the Radeon HD 5970 setup. However the Virtu software errored and wouldn't actually let me run the benchmark test. So there is some concern here for dual GPU card users. This issue was isolated to the Radeon HD 5970 only even after the driver updates were applied to the test machine.

I was wondering:

1. Has anyone else was having the same issues?,
2. Should I put this down to immature drivers?,
3. Is Lucid Virtu a gimmick?,

It's disappointing to have a feature that doesn't work.

After playing around with settings, I discovered that Lucid was not the issue. The AHCI setting in BIOS was causing instability. Changing to IDE mode fixed the hanging issues as well as speed the system up.

Preferred Solution: Lucid Virtu issue

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Lucid Virtu issue

I have the same issue.
It is worse when I connect the display to the on-board graphics, sometimes it doesn't complete booting.
I have the most recent version posted by AsRock but there is a newer version on the Lucid site. I have disabled Virtu for now.

I've been wanting to try Lucid's Virtu out for quite some time so that I can use Intel's QuickSync feature for converting videos (since I have a dedicated GPU). I just came across the demo, downloaded it, tried installing it, but I get this:

Anyone know of any tricks to get it installed, or are mobile Sandy Bridge processors not supported?

A:Lucid Virtu - Can't install...

I am also trying to install the new Virtu on a Gigabyte Ga H67MA UD2h B3 board. When a discrete video card is not installed it tells me it can't install... Needs discrete card. When I have the discrete card in Sapphire 5570...software tells me there is no Sandy Bridge. I sure would like help with the installation as well.

Hello, I am currently using the Intel HD 3000 graphics with my P8Z68-V MB. I bought a Sapphire HD 6870 and would to set it up with Virtu in iGPU mode. How is this done?

I know how to install the card and drivers but I'm unsure about the bios changes I need to make and in what order to do everything.

If I had to guess, this is how I would proceed.
1- Install card. Do I need to connect the monitor to the card at this point or leave it on the iGPU?
2- Install drivers and reboot.
3- bios changes???
4- Install Virtu and reboot.

Thats a guess. Thanks

A:New video care and Lucid Virtu install?

After some searching heres what I did. This is the best guide I found http://download.asrock.com/manual/vi...o3/English.pdf

1-Install video card.
2-Connect monitor to card. bios was already set to use pcie/pci as first boot device.
3-Start computer and install drivers. I installed Catalyst Control Center, Hydrovision and Trixx OC software.
5-Install Lucid Virtu software. Reboot
6-Enter bios and go to Advanced mode>System agent configuration>at this point set Initiate graphic adapter to iGPU and Multi monitor display to enable. This configuration will use the iGPU for regular use and switch to the dGPU when needed. If you want to use the the dGPU and switch to the iGPU for video encoding then set Initiate graphic adapter to PCIE/PCI.
7-Connect monitor to iGPU.
8-Boot to Windows and enjoy.

Ive checked it out in both modes, monitor connected to the iGPU and dGPU, and everything seems to work. I say seems to work because I haven't played a game yet but all the software and drivers are functioning OK.

When I was building my system a year ago from now I made a small mistake, I bought a analog monitor (D-sub) because it was cheap, the monitor is fine but I would like to put a graphics card in it at some point and most don't have a analog output.

My motherboard supports Lucid Virtu which is a program that switches between the integrated graphics (HD 3000) and the graphics card depending on the situation. You keep your monitor plugged into the motherboard not the graphics card (I think).

I can buy the Gigabyte GTX 650 2GB which has a D-sub connector, but I would like something a bit more powerful. So I though I could plug something like a 560 Ti in with no analog output and the Lucid virtu could convert it to analog.

Would this work?

hi a few months ago i bought a new laptop msi gt725 and separate windows 7.

for the last one year i tested linux esp karmic and lucid lynx and i really like it esp compiz 3d desktop and many many other things that windows doesn't have.

i would like to know if its possible to return my windows 7 dvd back to Microsoft and get my money back ? i paid for it about 150?.

A:Windows 7 or Lucid Lynx

As long as the software isn't opened and the seals aren't broken and you are within the stores refund period..you could probably still return it. But if it's been awhile, it's probably not going to work.

MSI's long awaited P55 FUZION finally hits the review testbenches...
How disappointing. Lucid have their work cut out getting the driver and gaming profiles in some kind of shape to make this a saleable technology.
A brief rundown of the high and lowlights:

Very limited game support
No PhysX in mixed mode (nVidia + ATI) - nVidia's fault at a guess.
No DirectX 11 support at all.
Latest Forceware drivers not supported.
No support for multi GPU graphics cards (HD 5970, GTX 295 etc.)
Cannot access primary graphics card Control Panel
Cannot select nVidia AA settings in mixed mode (nVidia+ATI)
User cannot build their own game profiles for unsupported games.
Higher CPU overhead than Crossfire or SLI
No performance boost over Crossfire or SLI
The technology works, but only just.
The MSI FUZION (all caps) motherboard will rival mainstream X58 boards in price.

I see why Asustek and Gigabyte declined to get involved with the Lucid project.

A:Lucid Hydra debut

There must be a lot of stuff you missed, because I cannot see MSI doing this without good reasons.

Tech Report got their hands on the Lucid Hydra load balancing chip. The chip (in theory) will allow not only two different types of mixed models of the same brand to work in unisone , but also ATI and Nvidia products to work together, in essence crossing SLI and Crossfire to work as one. The problem is that it allegedly is already facing resistance from Nvidia for infringing on its SLI licensing. Many here on Techspot have stated that they have been delaying purchases in anticipation of this new tech, and it it appears that it may be delayed even further over an upcoming legal issue over proprietary issues.

A:infected with virtu (i think)

Hi SoulZaeb,Welcome to BC HijackThis forum. I am farbar. I'm afraid I've got bad news.Your system is indeed infected with one of the nastiest file infectors:Virut is a polymorphic file infector with some additional features. It spreads all around the drive and infects even files infected by another virus previously. The only symptoms are a strange HDD activity while infecting, and also unwanted TCP traffic. Virut tries to connect you into an IRC network under the user name "Virtu" and zombify you. Unfortunately, the cleaning of this virus is very difficult or almost impossible.http://www.ca.com/us/securityadvisor/virus...s.aspx?id=55141The virus remains resident in memory and infects executable files with ".EXE" and ".SCR" file extensions. It's damage to the system is almost beyond repair as it disables Windows File Protection:The virus disables Windows File Protection by injecting code into the "winlogon.exe" process that patches system code in memory.http://www.ca.com/us/securityadvisor/virus...s.aspx?id=55141Therefore all those running processes are most probably now the virus agent. There is a claim by Grisoft that the following tool can remove the infection:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Win...t-Remover.shtmlThis claim is hard to believe. Not only almost all the running processes are infected but also their copy in i386 folder and in the dll cache are patched. Therefore the only fast and safe answer to the virus is reformatti... Welcome to TSF.

For those infected items found by Panda in your email inbox, sentbox and deleted items box, you will need to get rid of those files yourself. Just delete all of those infected and then empty the trash bin for your email inbox.

Unless you know what this folder and that ebay.url shortcut link is for, delete the whole folder:

Try not to open any of the links inside that folder (even though it may say ebay...it might not be it). Delete it if you are unsure just to be safe.

Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

All of a sudden Windows 7 isn’t booting. Why? Is it a software/OS problem or is it a hardware/HDD problem? A live CD can help one, in most cases.

If Linux boots and you can view all the files on the HDD, then most likely you have a software/OS problem.

In rare cases even now, a live CD can falter with some hardware it does not recognise ab-initio. So it is always better to run and check your live CD when the machine is working fine and keep it ready. No need to sweat if Windows 7 stops booting.

Next, if after trying out the various Windows Repair Options, Windows refuses to budge and only a reinstall is the option, you can safely copy the data on your HDD to an external drive if you haven’t backed it up before or haven’t used a multi-partitioned drive to store data seperate from the OS partition.

In this hands-on trial, I shall be writing the Lucid Puppy on to a pendrive and booting from it, instead of burning the bootable ISO on to a CD . Helpful for those with netbooks without an optical drive.

The essentials:

a. Download the latest version of Universal USB installer from http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ It is a 980KB .exe file that can be run straightaway. No installation

b. Download the latest version of Lucid Puppy (Ubuntu-Compatible Build) ISO
(128KB) from http://puppylinux.org/main/Download%20Latest%20Release.htm

c. A FAT32 formatted pendrive.

I recently built a system based on a MSI Z68-GD80 mobo + i7-2600k. Comes with Virtu which is supposed to automatically switch from Intel gfx to discrete gfx card when a game is fired up - has a white list of approved games and the ability to add your own game to the list.

Although I am not a gamer, I tried adding the exe for Cinema 4D to the list, but it didn't activate the Virtu process when I opened C4D.

So I was wondering - has any forum members sucessfully added any graphics apps to the Virtu list, or is it really only for 3D games and just gets triggered by DirectX etc.

BTW I would like to use both on-die and discrete gfx because my Black Gold HDTV card works great with Intel gfx, but pixelates with the HD5770 card.

A:Lucidlogix Virtu - adding apps to list

I seemed to have solved my Lucid Virtu problem.

Since C4D runs OK on my HD 5770 card, but Black Gold HDTV didn't, I decided to ditch Virtu, stick with the discrete card and sort the pixelation TV issue.

The AMD gfx card drivers were only 1 month old, but a newer version was available. I uninstalled prev drivers and installed the new version but no improvement.

I was poking around with HW Info64 and noticed my gfx card was running at x8 not x16 presumably due to the BG3620 being in slot #2. I moved the HDTV card to slot #3 (which let the HD 5770 gfx card run at x16), rescanned Media Center and now I have HDTV with no pixelation.

About a day ago, Sophos antivirus (school supplied antivirus) said it detected a trojan (specifically Virtu-gen). It immediately prompted me to run a Trojan Hunt scan which I did. A specific .dll file from my system32 file kept coming up in the scan as belonging to Virtu-gen, but I could not find a file by that name and do not have its exact name anymore (pedawne or something similar). Sophos flashed this alert about 14 times. At the end of the scan, I was told to reboot and that no action could be taken until reboot.

During the scan, my unupdated Windows Defender (also school supplied, unupdated because I have tenuous internet at home and am on break) ran a scan of my system with no results.

I manually rebooted through the shutdown/restart as opposed to Sophos button at the end scan. I did not see if anything strange happened during startup as I had gone off to brush my teeth. When I came back, by system had become unusably slow. I have just gotten sophos to even open in the last few minutes about 30 minutes after startup. Task manager is unusable as it takes a long time for me to be able to click on anything. I managed to get to the processes tab, but when I try to scroll down or click on an application, it tries to refresh the window and gets nowhere. CPU usage reads as 100% but none of the processes I can see in the window without scrolling are the culprit, though Tea Timer is using 1 percent.

I read the Sophos guide on how to resolve this issue and am unable t... Read more

Hi,I understand that you need help in order to get rid of the malware that is present on your system - But you need to help us first..I notice that you never scanned with an Antivirus previously before starting this thread - because you don't even have an Antivirus installed! This is somewhat suicidal in today's digital world. That's why I want you to install one first!!* Please install Avira Antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/This is a free Antivirus.Perform a full scan with Avira and let it delete everything it is finding. Then reboot. After reboot, open your Avira and select "reports".There doubleclick the report from the Full scan you have done. Click the "Report File" button and copy and paste this report in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog. Then we'll start from there, because it really makes no sense otherwise that we clean this up manually if an Antivirusscan is not present which should be able to deal with most and prevent further reinfection.

Thanks to Israeli website IOpanel.net, we learned of an upcoming MSI motherboard for soon-to-launch Core i5 700 series and i7 800 series of processors.

MSI's "Big Bang" motherboard or MS-7582 v0.8 would be your typical multi-GPU P55-based motherboard if there wasn't for an interesting dual-chipset configuration. Intel P55 chipset is actually just a single chip, but MSI joined it with Lucid's Hydra chip [company was originally named LucidLogix, but recently went through a renaming process]. Originally, the slot would be occupied by nVidia's 200 SLI-enabling chip, but MSI decided that the time was right to try out the Lucid Hydro series, in order to be well prepared for 2010, when Hydra is expected to become a multi-GPU technology of choice for Intel's upcoming Larrabee part. After all, Intel Capital is one of heavy backers of Lucid.
Lucid's Hydra 200 series chip occupies a spot just below the processor.

Lucid's chip occupies the position usually taken by the Northbridge chip, such as Intel X58 IOH [Input Output Hub] on Core i7-900 and i9-1000 series processors. The Hydra chip carries a mark LT24102, is in its A0 revision and was manufactured in 24th week of 2009, e.g. just a few weeks ago. According to the markings, this should be Hydra 200 series, which is yet to be announced.

In theory, Hydra chip should enable 3D rendering by both ATI and nVidia graphics cards at the same time, claiming to enable linear scaling in rendering performance. We're n... Read more

Hey, I recently put together a PC and I've been having problems with it since. When I initially built it, the specs were:

i7 920 2.67GHz
Asus p6t Motherboard
8gb RAM
500gb Sata II HD
ATI Radeon HD 3870x2 (the card with with 2 GPU's)
500W unbranded PSU
1 added 120m coolermaster fan

Shortly after I started using my PC there was a power surge that knocked the power supply out. I recently got a new power supply. A 650W Silverstone PSU that I thought was more than enough for this. The problem that would occur now is that the computer would restart during games and sometimes while processing/rendering videos in adobe premiere.

When I would enable the 'crossfire' option on my card (to enable both GPU's to work) the computer would no longer just 'restart' the entire screen would hang or the colours would go out of sync shortly after which I'd have to restart the computer. This having happened I assumed the problem was with the graphics card, not the new 650W silverstone I got. I upgraded to a newer card; Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX460 768mb. The specs are now as follows:

i7 920 2.67GHz
Asus p6t Motherboard
8gb RAM
500gb Sata II HD
Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX460 768mb
650W silverstone PSU
1 added 120m coolermaster fan

After upgrading, games like modern warfare 2 will restart in missions that has a lot of smoke, during a standard windows assessment process the computer will also restart.

There is no overheating issue, the te... Read more

A:PC restart during graphic-intensive tasks. PSU issue? GPU issue? Mobo issue?

You've got Asus motherboard, hence the first thing I'll look at considering the issues you are having, is at RAM settings/voltage in the board's BIOS, these should be exactly the same as on RAM packaging, but even that doesn't guarantee that it may not be the issue, so basically you'll need to fiddle around a bit with settings/voltage in case default specs doesn't work.

You may also consider stress testing your graphic card using OCCT (including vRam). Regards

Ok, I've checked a bunch of sites and seen people with similar issues, but none have exactly the same problems I'm having. I have Windows XP and frequently used ZoneAlarm, Spybot, Adaware and Spywareblaster. HJT did not solve this problem for me.

My computer:
freezes at the log in 80% of the time unless I login in safe mode
if I'm able to log in, safe mode or not, I get a RPC error that says the PC will shut down in 60 seconds 100% of the time
I cannot run/install antivirus because I get a "not a valid win32 application" message
cannot connect to wireless connection and shows error message when the wireless adapter loads (there's a spot for it next to the clock, but the icon's invisible)
sometimes reboots randomly without the win32 app message
sometimes goes to a black screen and then comes back, then showing a "system has recovered from a serious error, please tell Microsoft" message
shows a blue screen at startup saying win32/autocheck didn't work, then finishes startup through the login screen
cannot system restore because no restore points are visible before infection
So far, I've been able to keep the PC running in safe mode occasionally thanks to Run>shutdown -a. The disc drives weren't reading for awhile but I've gotten those to load again. I tried to uninstall my wireless adapter to reinstall, but I get an error message "InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched. The RPC server i... Read more

The computer's a year old, running XP, and my boyfriend and I have no idea what's wrong with it (it's his). I'd put in hardware support but I don't know which piece of hardware may be corrupted, exploding as we speak, or what.

It began last night. He's done this before -- he has two monitors, one meant for a TV (I believe) and another old computer screen. Normally it runs on the TV one because it's bigger. He switched to the older one to show me how he can adjust the settings so that it's all vertical. That was great and dandy and we didn't expect any issues. He's done it before and it really isn't doing much to the computer.

Later, after midnight, he goes to switch everything back to normal. First, the computer acts like the monitor is there but that it can't do anything -- it tries to go into sleep mode or something. Then I suggest he unplug, shut down, plug things back in normally, and power back up. This appears to work.

I was a bit happy then, until we got to the XP loading screen. It's going... and then after, it flashes, then goes black. Nothing comes up, nothing does anything.

And so the three hour saga of last night begins. We restart, we spam F8, we get into safe mode, he disables Nvidia but can't open the application. Nor does his mouse function in safe mode (I know some don't, but it really doesn't help the situation). I've used my laptop to bring up shortcut keys and we're functioning through everything that way. He restarts after disabling Nvidia, an... Read more

I have a problem with a T7500 tower.
The unit doesn't pass the POST, bringing the solid light 1 and the 1-3-2 beeps code.  I guess I have the S8 code with the light:

It would seem to be a RAM memory issue.  If I remove the RAM in slot 1 and live the 2nd RAM in slot 2, it moves to light 1-3 issue with the same 1-3-2 beep code:
If I move the 2nd RAM in slot 1, I still have light 1-3 code and 1-3-2 beep code.
If I replace the 2nd RAM by the first RAM in slot 1, still 1-3 light code and 1-3-2 beep code.
If I place the 2 RAM in slot 2 and 3, I'm back to 1 light code and 1-3-2 beep code.
Using slot 1 & 3 gives the same light 1 code and 1-3-2 beep code.
Any use of slot 4, 5 or 6 brings the lights 1-3 solid on and 1-3-2 beep code which after reading the documentation seems normal (slot 1, 2 and 3 should be filled first).
However the unit will boot, pass the POST and BIOS if it is not used for few days.
I know that the BIOS is on version A16.
I've tried the Power Supply Diagnostic, which passed successful:

With all that I think it is hardware issue, but I don't understand why I can't succeed the POST with 1 RAM memory.
Or is the problem elsewhere e.g power supply or motherboard?
I'll try the memory test next time I can boot.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi! I'm hoping someone can help me out here because I'm majorly frustrated at this point.

Regardless of the device I use, I can preview photos on the device and they are the correct color. They are also the correct color when viewed in paint, photoshop, or quicktime windows preview. However, they get fuzzy and green when viewed in a windows gallery or when uploaded to a site such as imageshack. I can open the same file side by side, one in photoshop and one in windows live photo gallery, at the same time, and one will be the right color and the other will be green.

Here are examples. This photo appears blue to me. This one is slightly green and fuzzier. The same file in the same format was used to upload both. What really confuses me, however, is that I viewed the link to the green photo on a different computer, and it looks the same as the blue one. So as far as I know, everyone who clicks on those links is thinking, "But they're the same and you're crazy." Which is arguable depending on the crowd but they really don't look the same to me.

I'm using a Slimline s3220n with Windows Vista Home Edition and NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics. This is a fairly recent issue and is, apparently, inexplicably selective. I have played around with saving the files in various formats but it doesn't make a difference, and also doesn't explain why I view the same file in the same format differently depending on what program I use and when I upload it.

Anyone have any idea what'... Read more

Hi, Often the applets stored from Java usage will trigger either a detection or an issue as you are seeing from antivirus scanners.

I'd suggest clearing the Java cache: see the attached screenshot, your version may be slightly different but you should be able to see where to look, and what to do. (The attached pic is from a slightly older version of the Java...the steps below are up to date, though)

Control Panel> (Switch to Classic View)> open Java

Find the Settings tab/button, and open that...then find the Delete Files button and click that.
It's just deleting the temporary files left from Java applet usage.

Then, after clearing the cache, run your scan again and see if it works correctly.

Hey, I just got a new motherboard/cpu/smaller case... really nice looking media center edition black case. It all booted up fine, got most the drivers, I have an 80gb HDD on SATA0 and a 320gb on SATA1, 32 bit on 0, 64 bit on 1, Default to 64 bit. It was all working fabulously before, and I fried my CPU, so I decided to go the extra mile for a new mobo and case as well. My 32 bit XP is fine, has all the drivers, everything is tested, USB front and back, front and back audio, and everything else.

On x64 though, it had all the drivers, I even saw it in Device Manager previous to the chaos, and from what I think did it, was GlarysTools or something like that... I uninstalled it, so it has no 'recovery' backup from before. Long story short, I have no device manager that properly works, the console will open, but no devices show, I've done work with it, I've researched and such, and found out that it might have something to do with Plug and Play. I have no 'Plug and Play' service, that could be an issue, though I don't know for sure, but I have Universal Plug and Play Device Host, and SSDP Discovery Service, though both of those are started, and properly working on 'automatic' setting, have restarted the PC numerous times, and restarted the services numerous times with no avail. Hello, I am was wondering if someone could help me determine if there is an infection with my computer. The most recent issue is that I am getting an "C:\WINDOWS\winstart.bat is offline - it is currently not available (42006)" error on two recent Quick Scans using avast! in the past two days. I've run SUPERAntiSpyware (SAS), MBAM, Spybot S&D, MB Anti-rootkit and have found no issues other than tracking cookies. In addition I had tried to install & run Kapersky's free one-time scanner but was unable to install twice due to "insufficient" permissions and once where the installation stopped during the download phase (some message about " server connection").  Note if I look for the winstart.bat file using Windows Explorer it doesn't show the file even with the option of seeing hidden files yet when I run show-hidden -f it shows the file as being hidden in that location (I.e. C:\Windows\winstart.bat). Note that the only virus issues I have had over the past months have been when ComboFix was compromised with Sality: I believe I isolated that issue as AVG, SAS, SpyBot and CCleaner were able to eradicate most (??) of the issues.
In addition, in the past I have had issues with Chrome which were unusual. The first occurrence was during August last year where the Facebook title of a "Most Visited" tile was a name of person I had not visited recently. User agent info is identifying information about your browser, system, and region plus a unique identifier that your browser sends to websites it visits. I would try resetting your browser if you don't have settings you are worried about losing by doing that.

I posted the same on their tech support forum but I'm beginning to think the issue, while it may have been exacerbated by the game Guildwars 2, is likely on my end, but I have a number of suggestions, none of which has worked. Also tried my own stuff.
Anyway, here is what I posted on their own tech forum:
Having a lot of issues getting into gw2…I have bits and pieces of problems others have had in the past, but nothing seems to work, so I’m re-downloading the game, basically. All I want to do is play the freaking game, why does it have to be so much trouble?
Once in awhile I will get that blue and yellow graphical glitch on something. Just more info for diagnosis. If and when this happens, it’s always immediately apparent at character select. However…The biggest problem I have with GW2 is also on login – it either crashes or bluescreens my computer right after clicking play and the client tries to load for 5-10 seconds. For the past few days, 90% of the time it just crashes. If I try to patch after that point, the patcher stops at Downloading 0KB and will not budge from it. Not even to log in. I have to reboot my computer to get it past “Downloading 0KB”.
One post I found said that they started having all these problems after downloading a number of games on Steam (which I have done off and on due to a friend getting me a few gifts) , until their HD shrank down to 30 gigs. Same here, an... Read more

A:Odd memory issue? HD space issue? Also, can't update GPU driver (GW2 crashing)

Unfortunately, though I thought I did, I have no images of the odd cyan/yellow graphics glitch, and I have no way of getting one (google didn't turn up any that looked the same as mine, granted some were similar).
Edit - I also noticed after re-enabling page memory on my primary drive after freeing up some space, that in the error logs, the amount of paged memory in use is for some reason higher. I can't imagine why this is, but maybe I don't understand the process.

Thinkpad X1 Carbon 4th Signature EditionIntel i7-6600U16GB RAM - 1 TB Windows 10 Home - Ver 1709Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260Driver is Intel v. When connected to wifi, hibernate and move to a different location with different network and routers, I connect to the router with strong signal, but show "No Internet" and I cannot access the internet. Upon awakening I show as connected to the router with strong signal, but it shows as having "No Internet". If I try to swtich to a different router OR channel it connects and still shows as "No Internet" and I cannot access the internet. Must restart. When I restart, I now have to log in twice. It looks like it works the first time, but returns me to log-in screen where I have to log in again, then it works. In all these cases the only thing I can do is reboot the computer and it connects normally. This means 3-4 reboots per day

I waited until the last minute (literally) to upgrade from Win7 to Win10. During the wait I kept up with all the Win10 HP blogs. My HP all-in-1 printer works great thanks to the support blog but I am still having difficulty getting my BOSE speakers to sound as they did with Beats on Win 7. I have downloaded and installed the compatible IDT HiDef Audio CODEC driver but the sound quality is still poor. The "Speakers/Headphones" property sound setting is "24-bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)". I would like to adjust the treble/bass settings as before - I want my BOSE speakers back!! Any recent recommendations?Thanx!!

I have four computers that are connected at any given time to the home network. I believe have two issues here.

The first, all of the computers connect and surf the Internet at very slow speeds. Sometimes it seems like I'm back on Dial-up. My MacBook (which is my main computer I work from) connects to the Internet with an Ethernet cable directly into the DSL box. Even if I turn the other three computers off in the office I still run slow on the Internet. Any thoughts on how to improve this? My DSL provider says its an issue with our setup. Great thanks for the help!

Second, my Mac overall seems to be running very slow. I have over 14GB of available space so I would not think that the computer is in overload.

Any support would be greatly appreciated.

A:Moving at turtle speed - Internal Network issue or DSL issue?

If you have more than one computer, and all exhibit the same symptoms, it's hard to believe they're all bad.
Pick one that doesn't exhibit any other issues and do this:

Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.

I upgraded to Windows 10 today. I have two issues.

1. I play a game called "Starcraft II" and I have a problem with the game minimizing and maximizing sometimes very slowly, every 5th attempt or so. During this time it takes up to 40 seconds for the game to go through with the maximizing/minimizing process, and ending the task with task manager is not possible.

I have tried messing with MSConfig and reinstalling the game. No luck. Any suggestions?

2. I have an old HDD on my PC installed with windows 7, and on my windows 7 SSD installation I could simply search for shortcuts I placed from my HDD into my SSD. This is no longer possible. Any advice?

Thank you!

I am trying (in vain) to issue a net start command "net start - "C:\Program Files (x86)\uTorrent\utorrent.exe", on the command line. The error message is "the filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect". I believe the 3 details are correct, as i am looking at the utorrent.exe file right now, which is sitting on that path. The only issue i can think of is that, since i am running win7 64bit, there nay be some sort of problem with the "(x86)" bit in the path name.

Any ideas?

A:net start command line issue - 64bit issue?

Hello Andy,

If you were just wanting to run the utorrent.exe file, then you would just need to use either command below to do so instead. The net start command is for services instead.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\uTorrent\utorrent.exe"

Chemist has been kind enough to help me in the virus/trojan sub-forum and has given me the all clear.

I have a couple of other issues with my laptop if anyone has the time to help.

I have windows 7 installed on my laptop. (Let me know if more details and which are needed, if any)

1. I think Aero has stopped working. Saw some error message which went away pretty quick but now my background is set to fill colour and won't let me change it to anything else. Aero itself must be working as if I click Alt + Tab, I can still skip through the programs in use by me (which I believe is an aero function?)

2. When I start up my computer or restart, I see the following message:

Catalyst Control Centre
Host application has stopped working
Microsoft is checking for a solution to this problem.

It stays for about 5-10 secs and then disappears. I haven't noticed anything else stop functioning (and admittedly this error has been showing for some time but I haven't been able to find any solutions by browsing the web) but if there is a fix/error, would be great!

The old adage of "when you're in a hole, stop digging" seems highly appropriate for me. I got a virus/malware issue from an exe file I, rather unwisely, ran. I couldn't run MalwareBytes software or seem to access any websites. Iused an uninfected PC to find a solution on some antivirus forums and using a couple of their ideas I cleaned my PC...so I thought. I have used SuperAntiSpyware, Vundofix, RemoveIT, SDFix. I cannot use or access Malwarebytes Software, Kaspersky, AVG or even the SuperAntiSpyware in "normal" mode - I have to load it in Alternate.

When I cleaned the PC it said I had a virus file which was deleted and several infections upon reboot I seem to be "clean" for 20 or 30 minutes before it starts acting up again.

I have attached the log below....
