I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

My "favourites" folder that you find near top left of "computer" or "documents" etcetc isn't working (not the IE favourite folder - annoying) I removed the shortcuts within as they kept coming up with an error, hoping that re'favouriting' them would stop the issue. But now i cant re'favourite' anything at all
Maybe this is because i didnt stop sharing? But I didnt realise they were shared or anything and im guessing the "pathway" is now messed up because its trying to go to "Scasy" but it now says "Scary" - or some such?

Sorry I hope this makes sense

Sarah

Hello Sarah, and welcome to Seven Forums.

The tutorial below may be able to help fix this for you. If not, then be sure to try the yellow TIP box at the bottom of the tutorial. Favorites Empty in Navigation Pane - Fix
If after you get Favorites fixed there are any shortcut links missing, then the tutorial below can help you get the defaults ones restored.Favorites - Restore Default Favorite Links in Navigation Pane
Hope this helps,

Hello,

A first Post from as ageing, non-techo - but learning all the time!

I do have quite a long list of Favoutites, mostly single listing but some in folders. At the moment the single listing is arranged alphabetically. Can I change the order so the 'popular' ones are higher up the list. I thought I could click and drag, but no luck.

Help, please!

Many thanks.

A:Favourites

Hmm...I don't see anything that will do what you describe (sort by frequency of access), either freeware or paid version.

What I would do (if I wanted such) is...just create a folder for Most Used or something similarly named.

Whilst in Windows, I quite often go onto the Net via one of my Favourites. Until today.

Scrolling down my list from the word "Favourites" in line with File Edit etc., when I click on one of the items, a message comes up "application not found".

However if I call down the list from the "Favourites" by the yellow star, and click on an item, I still get the same message, but when I click ok, it then goes on to connect with the site in question.

If I am actually on the Net, none of the above happens, and I connect normally.

Puzzling to me. It is not actually a big problem, but there is the feeling that perhaps something is in there that should'nt be and I want rid of it.

I have done a virus scan, and tried a System Restore. The former was clear, and the latter did not make any difference.

Any ideas anyone ??

Hi All, help required at Luddite level, I have Vista Home premium op. system, basically my favourites have stopped working!, I open Explorer click onto the star to get into "My Favourites" I get my list up but when I click onto one nothing happens. I tried to add a website into Favs by clicking on the 2 small stars, it lets me do this right up 'til I press 'add' then a window comes up telling me 'unspecified error'. The strange thing is I clicked each Fav in turn and out of about 60, 2 actually connected!

Hi - I hope I can give you enough information on this problem. My son in law had Mywebsearch on his computer - I removed it through internet options (he has XP by the way) and went into "add remove programs" and removed at least 2 related programs, then emptied recycle bin. In favourites he has several websites which appeared there in capitals like "Free web cam" "free something else" - I deleted these through Windows Explorer, and again in recycle bin. We rebooted and lo and behold everything was back again as though I had not touched anything. I found a site about removing mywebsearch which I have passed on to them, but how on earth am I to remove these favourites?

He has no address bar (only the Mywebsearch one)

In Internet Explorer 7 there is a gold star on the far left side of the browser below the "Back" and "Forward" buttons.
Use that to access your Favorites.

Next to the gold star is a green + sign on top of a gold star.
Use that to organize your favorites.

Can't get imported favourites from an older laptop (Toshiba) with IE v9.0.8112.16421 to transfer onto the favourites menu of new machine (Lenovo) with IE 10.0.9200.16721.

I've followed the instructions for export/import and successfully e-mailed the bookmark.htm file to myself from the old machine. But hen I follow the import instructions on the new machine, I get feedback saying 'not all contacts were successfully imported' - which actually means none were.

Could it be because there are an awful lot of favourites - IMB worth, organised in numerous separate folders? What's also a bit puzzling is that when I click on the shortcuts as displayed in the IE browser on the old machine, the relevant page loads immediately; but they all seem to be inactive when I try the same on the new machine. Nothing happens. Why?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really don't want to have to go through hundreds of favourites individually... they need editing but I'd prefer to load them all on the new machine and then delete those that are no longer needed... My new OS is MS8, not Vista, btw

Right clicking just gives the option of closing the favourites menu and when using "organise favourites" they don't actually appear at all.

Is there any way I can get rid of them?

A:Can't delete favourites?

Sounds like spyware.

Hijack This Log might point out something. Download from here. Not zipped, so you can make a new folder for it and save it there. Close all open windows before running Hijack This. Click 'Do a system scan and save a logfile.' Copy the entire log in notepad and paste it here. Do not fix anything yet because most items are normal or needed. Then hope someone here will analyze the log.
