I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

My "favourites" folder that you find near top left of "computer" or "documents" etcetc isn't working (not the IE favourite folder - annoying) I removed the shortcuts within as they kept coming up with an error, hoping that re'favouriting' them would stop the issue. But now i cant re'favourite' anything at all
Maybe this is because i didnt stop sharing? But I didnt realise they were shared or anything and im guessing the "pathway" is now messed up because its trying to go to "Scasy" but it now says "Scary" - or some such?

Sorry I hope this makes sense

Sarah

A:favourites folder issue (not IE favourites)

Hello Sarah, and welcome to Seven Forums.

The tutorial below may be able to help fix this for you. If not, then be sure to try the yellow TIP box at the bottom of the tutorial. Favorites Empty in Navigation Pane - Fix
If after you get Favorites fixed there are any shortcut links missing, then the tutorial below can help you get the defaults ones restored.Favorites - Restore Default Favorite Links in Navigation Pane
Hope this helps,

Then revisit those sites and see if it sets a favicon. If not, suggest removing the favorite, and bookmarking and saving it again. A Guy

Whilst in Windows, I quite often go onto the Net via one of my Favourites. Until today.

Scrolling down my list from the word "Favourites" in line with File Edit etc., when I click on one of the items, a message comes up "application not found".

However if I call down the list from the "Favourites" by the yellow star, and click on an item, I still get the same message, but when I click ok, it then goes on to connect with the site in question.

If I am actually on the Net, none of the above happens, and I connect normally.

Puzzling to me. It is not actually a big problem, but there is the feeling that perhaps something is in there that should'nt be and I want rid of it.

I have done a virus scan, and tried a System Restore. The former was clear, and the latter did not make any difference.

Any ideas anyone ??

Hello,

A first Post from as ageing, non-techo - but learning all the time!

I do have quite a long list of Favoutites, mostly single listing but some in folders. At the moment the single listing is arranged alphabetically. Can I change the order so the 'popular' ones are higher up the list. I thought I could click and drag, but no luck.

Help, please!

Many thanks.

Hmm...I don't see anything that will do what you describe (sort by frequency of access), either freeware or paid version.

What I would do (if I wanted such) is...just create a folder for Most Used or something similarly named.

Hi - I hope I can give you enough information on this problem. My son in law had Mywebsearch on his computer - I removed it through internet options (he has XP by the way) and went into "add remove programs" and removed at least 2 related programs, then emptied recycle bin. In favourites he has several websites which appeared there in capitals like "Free web cam" "free something else" - I deleted these through Windows Explorer, and again in recycle bin. We rebooted and lo and behold everything was back again as though I had not touched anything. I found a site about removing mywebsearch which I have passed on to them, but how on earth am I to remove these favourites?

He has no address bar (only the Mywebsearch one)

Last night, I had to reformat my hard disk and re-install XP. I have long been puzzled that when I go to add a favourite in IE5, the list is in alpha order. But when I go to search for a favourite in the list, it's in the order the favourites have been added. When I click organize, there is no sort option. Does anyone know how to sort favourites into alpha order to facilitate easier look-up? Thanks.

In IE click on Favorites, then put your cursor over a folder so a subfolder pops out to the right. Then place your cursor over the subfolder and right click. Now select "Sort by Name".

A:Favourites list in ie6

Can't really write an entire book on every possible combination of what you can do.

My way:
1) Create folders for major topics.
2) Put the favorites you use the most near the top. After you have a folder with a bunch of favorites, you left click and drag up or down to the position that pleases you.

(many people actually prefer alphabetical. you can do that by right clicking on a favorite and choose "sort by name")

To export favorites. Click File--->Export. Follow the wizard. Put them onto a floppy. Then you can import those favorites onto another computer.

Hi

Favorites for the Microsoft browsers have been stored in the same way, and at the same location, for a very long time now.

If you look in C:\Users\{account id} you will find a Folder called Favorites in which all your Favorites are stored.

Since yours are now on another drive, which for the sake of illustration I'll say is G: and the account id "jsmith", you'd look in G:\Users\jsmith for the Favorites folder, which is denoted with a gold star, not the standard folder icon.  Open that, select all, copy, navigate to your user account's Favorites folder on the C: drive, paste.

You know in your favourites list, if you add a new website, it appears there with a little specialised icon (TSG has one, for example). Well, next time I boot up, these little icons have all reverted to the 'blue "e" on a white sheet' icon.
Is it because I've deleted cookies etc?
