Lenovo Yoga 300 11iby - WiFi will not turn ON

Q: Lenovo Yoga 300 11iby - WiFi will not turn ON

Hello, The WiFi adapter is the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 and the drivers are from October 2017, the Device Manager is showing the network card as working without issues and nothing is reporting any problems, yet I am unable to simply turn the WiFi ON. The operating system is Windows 10 and I have tried the following: - enabling the WiFi interface using the command prompt (says it is already enabled)- trying older drivers for the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 (still will not turn ON)- opening the laptop and disconnecting the two wires from the WiFi module, then reconnecting (still no difference)- disabling and then re-enabling the Wireless in BIOS (no difference)- loading default settings in BIOS (no difference)- installing Windows 8.1 from scratch (same problem)- re-installing Windows 10 (same problem)- installed all of the Lenovo utilities and Companions I could find (still nothing)- windows troubleshooting simply tells me to switch the WiFi ON using either a hardware switch (which does not exist on this notebook) or the software switch using the keyboard - I press the F7 for airplane mode and it says that it goes into that mode, then pressed again and it simply goes back to WiFi which is turned OFF and showing the red X What is interesting is that when I booted TAILS from a USB drive the WiFi worked without issues, so this is obviously a software problem. Any suggestions?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

My Lenovo Yoga 300 had a 500gb hdd and i decided to change it in order to boost it a bit, i cloned it and changed fron ide to ahci. it works as it was on sata2 (sandisk dashboard shows it as sata2 ), even though (based on specifications) it has sata3.It also performs as a sata2 interface.I would like to know if there is any driver aviable or what can i do , because they advertise it as sata 3 but it seems no to be. thank you

Hi Guys, i want to know, if this device has an embedded UEFI Diagnostic. If so, could you please explain how to enter? If not, could anbody please explain how to boot correctly from a self created usb stick from that link? http://support.lenovo.com/de/de/downloads/ds030861 I tried for 1 hour all different options, and combinations but i still cant boot the diagnostic efi. (set admin/userpw, disabled secure boot, changed boot mode to legacy, disabled OS Optimized Defaults)  When i boot the stick from boot menue as efi -> has been blocked by the current security policy. When i boot the stick via bootmenue as legacy -> stick is flashing but win still boots) Tried different sticks and usb ports (2 and 3) And another questions... Is there really no button to use at startup to enter bios/boot options etc so i have to use the tiny hole with a needle to enter the tiny startupmenue? Thanks for your help guys.

A:Embedded UEFI Diagnostic on Lenovo YOGA 300-11IBY ...

Your first case - boot in UEFI mode - sounds like you need to turn off secure boot.

Have you tried that?

I bought my ideapad about a year ago and it was working smoothly until now. Recently I've been having trouble connecting to/staying connected to my home wifi. It'll say that there is no Internet despite the other Lenovo laptop and my phone working. It doesn't have an issue with other networks (ex. liraries or Startbucks).

Hello,I've got an annoying problem with my Lenovo Yoga 700 laptop.Today plugged in the charger and started working on my laptop (I'm sure I plugged it in correctly) but I kept gettings messages about low battery level. I checked my charger but I can't really remember if the battery was charging (I suppose not if I was getting those messages). Then my laptop turned off due to low battery power.  When I tried to turn it on (with plugged in charger) I only saw the low battery indicator flash 3 times and nothing. And I thought that my charger was damaged. But It is not! It is because after some reading I decided to open the laptop and unplug the battery. Once I've done that I plugged in the charger and the laptop (without battery) normally turned on! I turned it off and plugged in the battery and it did not turn on now! Even though the charger was working fine (because a minute before I turned the laptop on without any battery plugged in). 2nd try:The laptop works completely fine without the battery. Then I've tried turning on the laptop and while it was running I plugged in the battery. Immediatelly after plugged in the battery the white power light turned off and the orange light was blinking even indicating low battery level, even though my charger was plugged in.Windows was showing that I had 1% battery level and it was not charging. Then my laptop after half a minute went dead as though I didn't have my charger plugged in and my battery went dead. 3r... Read more

My Lenovo Yoga power button recently stopped responding, I really don't know why. I didn't bump the button or do anything to damage it, but it seemed to have stopped working. I read that the rest button was an alternative, so I started using that. Today, that also seemed to stop working. Right now, the power light is flashing when the computer is closed and when I open it, the computer fan seems to start and then immediate shut off. Then the power light is on, but the screen continues to stay black.. The reset button isn't doing anything.  I don't know what to do!!

Hey Guys, I picked up a Yoga 3 just before xmas and its been running well until just recently. I have noticed that if I shut the machine down and then return to it later it will often not turn back on. Pressing the power button will cause the keyboard to light up but nothing else. After a random amount of time and attempts it will turn on. Whilst trying the light on the power button will remain on. I have contacted online support and they want me to post the laptop to Germany for them to take a look but this wil leave me without my work computer for some time. This problem is also random in that it doesnt always happen. I worry they will try a few times and not be able to reproduce the issue and post it back. Any one any idea of what it might be? I searced the forum and found similar stories but no real advice as to what it might be or a fix. I have updated the BIOS, which didnt seem to help.  Thanks guys

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 bought in Oct 2015 that will not turn on. I have tried pressing the power button for 30 seconds and also for one minute and then trying topower up and it doesn't work. I took it to a repair shop and they removed the battery and reinserted it and nothing happened.  This is the second major problem I have had with this machine since I bought it. The first issue was a faulty touch screen that required it being sent in for repair. Now 6 months later this power problem shows up. This is extremely disappointing as I felt I did good research before I decided to buy this machine. Any suggestions before I go out and buy something other than a Lenovo product? Thanks!

So about 1 month ago, my sister was coming from the kithcen upstairs down with her lenovo laptop in sleep mode, she sent me to bring her charger and so i did. We then plugged thecharger in and tried to turn on the laptop. All that happened was the key board lit up and the cpu fan turns on for about 3 seconds, and the laptop does this in a loop until the battery dies. But it does not do this if you disconect the battery and just use the plug, i have tried so many thing, i have tried disconecting power and battery and holding power for 30 seconds, and then pluging it back in. There was only one issue prior to this and it is that the usb 3.0 port that is mounted on the mother board is broken.Note That the charging light does not turn on. My theory's1. The battery is broken, i did test the battery and on the volt measure it said open loop.(likely)2. The usb 3.0 somehow fried part of the mother board, but not all of it since the cpu fan, power light, and the keyboard still work.(unlikely since a fried mother board nothing works)3. The charger port is broken.(unlikely since the battery does charge, but the laptop does not turn on without a bettery).

Hi guys, Although reading about similar situations, haven't read exactly mine yet, so here goes. switching on results in the power light switching on for a few seconds. when charger is pugged in, charging light will turn on (as long as the charger is plugged in). no screen activity at all. removed the battery and 'drained' the system by keeping the power on button pressed for 1 minute (read that somewhere on the net). i read in the Lenovo manual that after removing the battery and plugging in the charger, the laptop should switch on just using the mains, but unfortunately mine doesn't, just, as mentioned earlier, the power light goes on for a few seconds. reading the manual in this situation they advise to replace the system board..... aha. to be honest, i haven't measured the voltage of the charger, when plugged in (should be 20 V inside the plug) as i don't have a V meter. should i look into that before writing it off completely ? For me, because it doesn't work on just the mains (so without battery), i guess the motherboard is screwed. any more ideas ? any tips welcome, thanks !

I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 3.14 laptop from Best Buy about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I have had to send it out twice so far because the keyboard stopped working. It was within warranty, so this cost me $0. Now, the computer won?t turn on at all (just 4 months after my warranty expired). I went to best buy to have the computer looked at and was told it may be a big problem. The computer has no physical or water damage of any kind. Sending it out for testing and repair it will likely cost me over $500. The computer was originally $800 and with its record of needing repairs I don?t think it would be wise to repair it just to have it break again (as it does once every six months.) I am finding it very difficult to get any support information from lenovo itself. I have never heard of a computer breaking so quickly and so often. I sent them feedback, but I dont actually know if they will contact me about it. Has anyone else had success using 'feedback' or over the phone? I love this computer and I would buy it again if I knew it wouldnt have these issues or they would give me some guarantee or discount. Thanks for any help!

Hello all, just looking for some help. I am completely desperate at this point!
As the title states, I own the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 inch version (the one on this link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-yoga-2-2-in-1-11-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-pentium-4gb-memory-5...
Please note that this is the version with the Pentium N3520, not the i5-4210Y! This laptop was purchased at the end of March.

Anyway, the last time I used this laptop was on Thursday. I used it to quickly email something to the desktop I was using. I noticed it had around 10% battery left, so I planned on charging it later that day.

I got caught up with some other school work and did not touch my laptop until Friday morning. I pressed the power button, but it did not turn on. This was not surprising, since I figured the battery had run out since the previous day. I plugged it in but immediately noticed that something was wrong. The Power/Charging LED did not turn on. The laptop does not POST, and it does not beep! The fans do not start up, and the screen does not even flicker. It is exactly as if the battery is not there. The charger and the outlet work fine, as they have been tested with another Lenovo laptop.

I opened it up to see if anything was loose, but nothing appears wrong. I am seriously scared that I will have to return this laptop to Lenovo. I have very sensitive information regarding my engineering work, and some private files from a company. Plus, I have all my N... Read more

My laptop doesn't turn on anymore. Here is what I have to do to turn it on (I tried many sequence of steps, but this is the only one that works every time):-Disconnect battery and CMOS battery-Press power button ten times, then press and hold for 30 seconds-Connect power adaptor and press power button At this point, my laptop turns on, but I have to reset my time and date in BIOS (of course this is normal since I disconnected the CMOS batter). Once I turn my laptop on, my batter shows that it is charging and it is at 100%. I dual boot and both Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 show the batter charging at 100%.As soon as I unplug my AC adaptor, the laptop turns off again and I have to repeat the sequence above again to turn it on. This happens consistently. However, if I shutdown my laptop the right way without unplugging the AC adaptor at any point, it turns back on normally. This happens of both my Linux and Windows OS. What I've tried:-Uninstalling battery drivers and restarting my laptop-Updating to the latest power management drives from this Lenovo websiteI also read that some HP laptops have software issues that doesn't allow the laptop to switch from AC adaptor mode to battery mode. I believe this might be the issue I'm seeing, but I couldn't find a way to check this setting. I don't think this last detail is related, but when I shutdown Windows, I see a message saying:Closing 1 app and restartingAsusSGPLusBTServerThis app is preventing you f rom restartingAlo... I was enjoying streaming on twitch with my charger in for around 2 hours when all of a sudden my screen went black and my laptop shut down. I tried to reboot and hard reset and nothing was working. I get a led light when i plug in the chager and it either stays solid white or is white and blinks  every 3-5 seconds and also when i hold the power button in to boot up after close to 10 seconds the power led blinks 1 time. No boot, No post, No display just black screen and unresponisive. No fan sound no nothing. I looked up and saw that removing the battery and draining power then putting it back in may do the trick. I tried since my year warranty was already up and it did nothing, same issues from before. I then dug deeper and found out that with taking the battery out and draining power to also unscrew and unattach and reattach the CMOS battery. So I tried this and got everything put back in and I'm still stuck with the same problem. NO boot no display no sound of things trying to start like fan. Completely unresponsive besides the charge led and power led. Any solutions becasue I have hit a wall and want to find out as much as I can before buying a battery or sending it in.

I see others have had this problem, but the classic ?hold the power button for 10 seconds? trick isn?t working. This has happened numerous times in the past and typically it just eventually turns back on, seemingly with no rhyme or reason behind it. This time, it has been well over an hour. It?s turned on twice, gotten to the lock screen, then turned off again & I cannot get it back on.  It is certainly not an issue of wear and tear-I use it minimally, however when I do use it, I really need it to actually work.  What is going on and how can I fix it??
