Recording streaming Flash videos

Q: Recording streaming Flash videos

I would like to record a variety of streaming Adobe Flash videos which I access via IE7.

I've done a search on Google, and there appears to be a bunch of software out there to do this, some of it free.

Can anyone recommend a good choice - and if free, that would be even better.

Preferred Solution: Recording streaming Flash videos

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've been plagued with various BSODs over the past few weeks, generally while streaming flash videos. Another issue possibly related; I've been having crashes to desktop without error while playing various games such as Divinity: Original Sin and Dark Souls 2: Scholars of the First Sin.

I originally suspected the USB 3.0 NEC drivers provided via ASRock's website, and the variety in BSOD errors has diminished if not completely reduced to 0x0000007F error since disabling that driver.

I greatly appreciate any help that can be provided.

A:BSOD while streaming flash videos (0x0000007F)

Hi Telecinision.

Uninstall the installed display driver using DDU. Then install the CCC 14.4 WHQL only.

When done, stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark. Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

Also let us know for any further BSOD.

I have a couple different issues that may or may not be related"

1. In my fantasy baseball league on MLB.com, the standings do not show, nor do the player rankings when I try to view that.

2. On many websites that have streaming videos, the video doesn't stream. It simply says 0% or 1% and stays there. If I wait about 20 minutes, the video will finally completely load and play.

I thought this was an adobe flash player issue or something but that software is up to date. I have Windows 7. ALl help is appreciated.

At first I'd like to apologize for my bad english

I got a lot of BSOD for the past 2 months.
It mostly happens when I watch youtube videos, I got some also when installing the Planetside 2 beta via the launcher.

I've also noticed my computer makes more noice than it used to make. The sound seems to come from the cpu.

I've got problem to boot my computer sometimes, it will boot but the screen will remain off (yellow led).
SOmetimes it starts to make a lot of beeps and when I try to boot it, and I have to power the computer off and then on to make it boot again.
I've read my dump files with whocrashed and it seemed to point at nokernel.exe and drivers like the ones from daemon tools (removed the program, still got bsod), directx driver, and watchdog.sys

I made a Ccleaner for registery yesterday so unfortunately my dump files are gone, and I haven't been able to get new dump files since then even if I got BSODs.

I've updated my drivers via the intel website.

I've been running Memtest86+ for 10passes with no errors.

I've checked my temps with speedfan and they seem ok.

My computer was originaly running on vista 32bits, I've installed win 7 2months ago.

I'm linking my SF diagnostic tools files even if I don't think there is any dump files in it.

I'm open to suggestions, thanks in advance.

I really need to ressolve this problem.

P.S I Also tried a reformatt a few weeks ago, and it didnt solve the problem :/

A:Urgent : System uses 50% or more when playing Videos, Flash Videos, Flash Games etc

Firstly, I would think it is fine that your CPU usage goes to 50% when playing videos... it has to use some CPU power to do this. Now the lagging is another story. First off I would make sure that everything is being properly cooled. If you have not done so in a while, clean out the inside of the PC, blowing off any dust from the heatsink, graphics card, power supply etc. Also what sort of power supply do you have? I want to confirm it's adequate for the system. That brings up the question, when did this start happening and was anything hardware changed around that time?

I want to record a radio program that runs for three hours nightly, from midnight to 3:00A.M. on the internet. The program is the classics from the "Golden Age of Radio" that I hope to copy for a senior in the hospital.

The plan is to record it as a low resolution MP3 (32 or 64 bit), burn it to a cd that would be played on a discman.

I know I have to purchase a recording program such as Total Recorder or Super MP3 Recorder.

I have tried the trial version of TR that allows only 40 seconds. It is hard to determine how large the file size of the would be. The instructions seem to be slanted more to song recording length, not three hours.

Before I buy I would like any some advice. Has anyone done this? Are there any recomendations?

Hi guys,
I have just re-formatted my windows7 for the second time in about a week. everything is working as intended with exception to online flash videos. Youtube videos are functioning, because they are using HTML5 i suspect.
An interesting note: upon reformat and installing of my mobo drivers, i installed Avast AV and then went to animefreak.tv to check the functionality of my flash player. I was able to watch the latest episodes of Naruto Shippuden and then i got back to installing security addons for my Firefox browser. After doing this, my flash player is not opening videos on that same website i just mentioned, nor on primewire.ag (which i used without problems up until my re-format about a week ago).
I have not installed any WindowsUpdates, as right now i'm not sure that i won't re-format again to try this all over to eliminate this problem.
I am playing Star Trek Online right now, it is operating just fine, all other functions of my OS seem to be OK, just this flash video issue is all the problem that i can detect at the moment. I use my PC for browsing the web, investigating government intrusion into personal rights mainly, and also for recreation like video games and the aforementioned movie and anime viewing..
I suspect that my security addons to Firefox might be getting in the way of my flash video viewing.. I currently have 'play DRM content' disabled as snooping and tracking are my mortal enemies online..

Right click anywhere in the window that opens and enable both "Show Disconnected" and "Show Disabled Devices" do you see "Stereo Mix" as an option? If so, select it and click the "Set Default" button.

Hi - I have a RealTek HD sound card in my E-Machines desktop system (new). I'm trying to record streaming audio - basically I want to simply record what I'm hearing through my speakers. But when I try to choose that input, it doesn't seem to be there. My choices are CD Volume, FrontMic, Mic Volume, and Line Volume (see attached pic) - and FYI - I did scroll over to the right - no additional options there.

There is no "wave" or "stereo mix" input choice. Any of the available choices I've tried and they don't record the live audio that's playing on my system. Is there a plug-in or something that will allow me to do this? I just want to record the same stuff that I'm hearing. Help! Thanks -

Problems with the audio playback when recording streaming audio :

I have downloaded several 'what you hear' recording apps. Tonight was Audacity with Lame encoder and then when that did not work, downloaded and installed MP3MyMP3.

Since they do not come with great instructions, all I did was go to my favorite streaming audio from a local radio station ; got the show playing through my speakers; opened up the recording app and then pressed the record button. Both apps seemed to be recording and both saved to mp3 files. But when I play them back there is no audio. Am I missing a step ?

I am curious as to what the "normal" cpu usage is for watching a video, such as a divx or xvid video, and also what the "normal" cpu usage is for watching a flash video online, on a site such as youtube.

I did some tests and found when watching an XVID video, I got the following results...

Windows Media Player 11........... 30-42%
Windows Meida Player Classic..... 27-40%
VLC......................................... 12-25%

I was interested to see how much lower the usage was with VLC - how can this be? I would think they would be using the same engine for decoding, so I can't account for this difference. It also jumped around a lot, as you can see with these wide ranges.

Then for flash videos, on you tube for example,
I got...

Firefox 3 (beta 4).......... 35-50%

About the same for all 3. I was wondering if this is high or considered normal.
Also something interesting to note, is that if a video is playing, but i scroll down so that the Flash "box" is no longer in viewing area (i can no longer see the video playing, only hear it), CPU usage goes down to about 18-22%. Same thing happens if I keep the video playing but just minimize the page.
I'd like to hear from anyone with the same issues, or if I am just being paranoid!

I recently had a friend replace my computer, as it died. On my other computer, I had Audacity to record internet streaming audio, and to record spoken parts for my podcast show. When I had Audacity installed on my old computer, it had 4 options: Line-In, Microphone, Stereo, and Mono. I used the mono and stereo options to record streaming internet audio.
After installing Audacity on this computer, I only have the Line-In, and Microphone options. I have tried downloading other versions of Audacity, but it still only has the Line-In and Mic options no matter what version that I install. It's not Audacity, it's your sound card. It doesn't support the Advanced internal features for recording.
Go to the store and get a splitter. Plug it into your speaker port and run a jumper to your Line In from one of the splitter ports and plug your speakers into the other splitter port.
Configure Audacity to use the Line in as the Source device.

Pretty self explanatory- my specs are on my profile and I'm including the zip file as per usual BSOD post.

My computer runs the game fine and can even handle media on my second monitor during gaming. I've rarely had issues streaming / recording / watching stuff and gaming simultaneously - I've been having all kinds of issues as of late and while I can run the game without issues at all - as soon as OBS comes into the picture I get BSOD'd.

The reason I'm making this post rather than accepting the limitation of a weaker graphics card (outside of the BSOD) is that on day one I was able to stream and record simultaneously for hours on end - and even earlier points throughout the week I've had no problems.

However lately while toning everything down and running less background stuff I still crash much harder than I should. Earlier I tried to record 5 minutes of content and my system crashed hard, but hours prior I'd recorded a solid 2 hours without break.

I appreciate any input and will give any info that I missed - thanks for taking the time guys.

I have followed thoroughly various tutorials for setting up OBS for streaming. Initially I had set it up for Youtube, then switched to Twitch. This works fine. I have absolutely no complaint with that. Streaming out to these platforms is working as I would like.
This issue I'm experiencing is what I can best describe as a pulsing or jumping, about once per second when I play a file back that I have recorded (not streamed) with OBS.

The audio is flawless, no stuttering, nothing like that. Audio BR is at 160...

As I watch the status information in OBS as I am recording, I see no warning about overloaded encoder, the frame rates are where they are supposed to be, no dropped frames. everything should appear to be good. CPU load is unremarkable, again plenty of headroom. It doesn't seem to matter if I increase bit rate, decrease bit rate, CBR, VBR, increase or decrease framerate, or which software i use to view the output fine: VLC, WMP, whatever, there is this pulsing. Its just enough to be annoying. Its subtle, but it's there. And it doesn't matter which PC I play the file on ( I have a few I can test it with)

The computer running OBS is more than adequate for the task.

I have - in an effort to improve things - changed recording format, changed encoder, even the location to which I was saving it ( initially that was a network drive, but I change to an internal SSD for test purposes) I can not get rid of this.

This is just for a little pet project, I ... Read more

Greetings all, it has been awhile since I last posted, aside from my computers of which I have 4, I am also a long time audiophile, and have quite the collection of high end vintage stereo equipment. I have a friend who is more hard core about his sounds than I am.
I am fishing for opinions, I have bought a new ASUS lap top that I have a really good sound card and Graphics HDMI card installed. I also am an avid user of ITunes, and have found that their Lossless recordings are better than most of my CDs. I am also rather tired of playing one CD after another, so I recorded all my music, a little over 100gigs on 3 of my computers one being my new lap top. I also use ITunes Icloud service for storing my entire library including all my settings, and have used it to load up my laptop with all their lossless versions of all my music including what I bought from them.
I find the quality to be better than CDs, and better than what I hear on my tube CD player, while playing it from my computer files. My friend says that recorded music on a computer will degrade over time, and that a hard drive will not keep all files in one place, therefore the degrading of the information. He says that the new streaming services along with the new streaming players are far better. Herein lies the information I seek; Which is better, what are the opinions that the rest of you have, is computer recorded music better, or is streaming music on these new (very expensive) players better..., or is ther... A:Computer Harddrive recording or Streaming lossless audio, which is best?

Which is better depends on the source and the quality settings of the capture. A lossless copy of a CD and the actual CD should sound the SAME. If they do not, you have a player, configuration, or hardware issue. It doesn't matter if you are comparing CD's, ripped files from a CD, or streaming files (assuming all files are from the same source CD version).

Files stored on a computer do not "degrade over time". They will never change unless of course the HDD fails. So you either misunderstood what you friend was telling you, or he doesn't understand computers.

A:Recording videos to dvd?

well that depends , do you want to record them AS dvd's or do you jsut want to burn them onto dvd media ? let me try to ask an0other way , do you intend on playing them on a regular dvd player , or on your computer ? if your not planning on playing them on another dvd player then they dont need to be burned as a dvd disk they can be burned as data ( for example AVI files)

Hi there!

I am trying to record internet radio as it is streaming online (Itunes radio). I am using recording software: Audacity on my laptop, which is a Lenovo U450 ideapad. However each time I record, I am picking up the sound of the laptop microphone as well, i.e. I canít just record the sound of the streaming music; I record all the other sounds in the room as well! The same thing happens with the 'Sound Recorder' software on the laptop. I have tried changing some settings on audacity ie trying to use different microphone inputs. It gives me the option to use:

MME Microsoft Sound Mapper Ė Input
MME Realtek High Definition
Windows Direct Sound Primary Capture Driver
Windows Direct Sound microphone (Realtek High Definition)

However all these currently pick up the laptop microphone ie my speaking as well as the music. I tried using an older version of Audacity but that didnít work. Do you have any ideas around it please? Maybe you can you tell me how to disable the main laptop microphone so it just picks up whatís playing? I used to be able to do this perfectly on my pc. Thank you very much for trying!

A:Recording streaming music - microphone picks up sounds in room

I'm sorry, but the recording of streaming music, even music from a radio, is illegal. We won't be able to help you with that.

I know this sounds a bit lame but I will ask anyway. I don't have a DVD player on my pc, but I would like burn several movies to a DVD disk, in order to save space on my hard drive. Now my question is can I slip a DVD disk into my CD-RW burner and burn movies onto it? Your help will be appreciated.
