Q: HP ELITEBOOK 8560W GRAPHICS CARD

I need HP support. I want to know can i run my HP 8560w by just removing my faulty NVIDIA Quadro 1000m rather than replacing it with the new one. As per my knowledge this shoud run on built in gpu, shared graphic memory even in the absense of external graphics card.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was thinking of upgrading the RAM in my Elitebook 8650w. I know the type of memory I need (DDR3 PC-10600 1333 Mhz) but I was wondering how many strips are build in already?I got the quad core version so my laptop has 4 slots, from which 2 are under the keyboard and I dont want to take the laptop apart. My laptop has 4 GB of RAM this moment. My question is, are there 2 strips of 2GB DDR3 RAM already installed or just 1 strip of 4 GB? Or is this something varying from factory to factory?

Yes, DDotDacherDash has a very good point to use the Support Assistant. Bur if you are like me, and you uninstalled all unnecessary software, you can also run the free Crucial memory scanner that will scan your PC and report the same info without installing any software. http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ Paul

This afternoon I left my Elitebook open and running on the table and when I returned half an hour later the screen was black. I figured it had gone to sleep but when I moved my mouse nothing happened. I pushed the power button, still no response. Even after holding the power button for an extended period of time nothing happened, aside from the power led blinking for a couple of seconds. I've already tried removing the battery etc, but it didn't work. All help is appreciated.

I have a laptop that will not charge the battery with the AC Adapter. I have tried different combinations between two chargers and two batteries and I always have the same results. The only time it will charge is when I connect it to my docking station which is a Hewlett-Packard (HP) NZ222AA - HSTNN-I10X 120W Advanced Docking Station. The charger I have is an HP PA-1151-09HA TPC-LA52 Adapter. The second charger is from another laptop. That is also the charger used in the docking station. That is an HP PA-1231-66HJ. I have tried both of these chargers in my EliteBook 8570p and they were both able to charge that laptop.  The laptop will run with the charger, without the battery. The only message the battery icon displays is "No battery detected". If I then attach the battery with the laptop still on, the message will change to "xx% and not charging. It will then run on battery power until it dies. At that point, it will turn off. If I followed the same scenario but unplugged it after attaching the battery, the message with change to "xx% and in use".  If I try to plug it in after that, it will continue to say "xx% and in use". It will not change back to "xx% and not charging". If the laptop was started with the battery in and then I plug it in, it will always say "xx% and in use". If I start the laptop with a battery and the charger, it will say "xx% and in use". I have tried updating the bios to VERSION: F.28 because I found an article that w... Read more

Hi, I have had my Elitebook for almost 5 years now. It currently runs Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with 16 GB of RAM. I'm still running on the installed Hitachi 500 GB HDD, but it's getting a little slow for my taste and I'm worried it might fail at any time. I've been hoping to replace the 500 GB HDD with a 500 GB SSD from Samsung by cloning it, then wipe the old HDD completely, and THEN replace the optical bay with a new 2nd HDD of some unspecified capacity. My problem now: I have about 300 GB's worth of data (went to an engineering school). I spoke to an HP rep on a live chat who told me that the largest supported capacity for an SSD (that can only be in the primary slot) is 256 GB and the largest supported capacity for an HDD in the replacement bay is 500 GB. Rather than move and link my entire USER's folder to the 2nd HDD (which is possible but still confusing for me at this point), I'd like to get a second opinion from someone in the HP community. Is the capacity limitation a matter of drive height? BIOS limitation? Is it still possible to get a 500 GB SSD instead? I've seen in various forums that the user had a larger drive than suggested. Thanks.

Dear EliteBook users,Did anyone try - and succeed - adding some memory module to the primary memory slot underneath the keyboard of an EliteBook 8560w?I needed some extra memory and successfully added two modules to the slots below the bottom cover. But I needed more, and had to add it to the remaining slot just below the keybord. For that I had to remove the keyboard, but that turned out to be an impossible task. The user-guide ("Getting Started", p.45 and on) tells you how to do that, but that is definitely not correct. For instance, there is no "keyboard release cut-out", as indicated in p.46. Also the force you have to exert on the keyboard back-side is dangerouly hight (dangerous for the keyboard and for your fingers). Googling for that did not help. In fact, a bit surprisingly, I have found other two user-guides for the same model, all of them with different technics to remove the keyboard, and all of them inapropriate. To make things worse, HP support in the Netherlands said they could do nothing for me, except sending me the same manuals I already have. And there is absolutelly no available channel to complain with HP about that!I'd be grateful for any information on that.Regards.G.Oliveira.?

Hello,i have problem with my EliteBook 8560w(With dual boot Windows 7 64bit and Linux Mint 17.3 if its important). When I plug it in AC charger it turns on by itself and after 2-3 sec. it shutsdown without warning. After shutting down the laptop can't be turned on using the power button. This occurs everytime I plug it in the charger. I get the same problem when I place the battery. I tryed the following: removing RAM, removing HDD, removing BIOS battery. Everytime the laptop turns on itself immediately when plugged in then shuts down after 2-3 sec. Its not heating problem either, because fan check is passing and I have recently replaced heatsink paste. When I plugged off the power button from the motherboard, the laptop stopped turning on when pluged in, but there is no way I can turn it on. Any suggestions what can be the cause of the problem and what solution can I try?Thank you in advance.

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me diagnose this problem with my 8560W:It randomly hard locks up - ie the mouse/keyboard input stop and music playback freezes - about 10 seconds later the machine turns right off.  I haven't noticed any pattern to when it does it - sometimes it'll go for a week with no problems, other times it'll freeze before the windows sign-in screen. I've tried a fresh windows install (but have also seen the lockups in safe mode) so I don't think it's a bad driver issue. There is nothing meaningful in event viewerI suspected it might be an SSD failing - so tried another and had the same issues. I've seen the lockups on battery, and with both the power adapters I have - also on AC with the battery removed.I've run the built-in efi extensive diagnosis a few times - all passing completely. I have cleaned out the heatsinks with compressed air - though they didn't look too bad.  Keeping an eye on CPU temperatures - it does lock up some times when the temperatures are relatively low. Something I've noticed (and I don't know if it's a red herring or not) is that the system fan tends to not spin as much as it used to - ie I don't notice hearing it.  I've tried to roll back my BIOS - but haven't been able to - in Windows it tells me I can't go back, and in 'bios' it tells me it can't find the signature. Any help at this point would be appreciated.  I'd hate to have to throw the system out - it is still a ve... My hp elitebook 8560w workstation has suddenly stopped working. It does not power up from the power button anymore. After several attempts, I managed to power it up, yet in a very unusual way. In order to turn it on, I have to remove battery and unplug the charger, press the power button once, return the battery and press the Quick Web button. Only by doing so, the lapton turns on normally.   Couple of other things to notice as well. First, when the Laptop enters the energy-saving mode, it shuts down completely. Second, the Windows 7 welcome sound comes late (roughly 5-6 min. after boot-up) I know that these symptoms might be caused by different concurrent issues, but I would appreciate it, if you can help me out with this case.  Thank you in advance

I know in the past it was noted that you could not install these cards in a whitelist enabled BIOS, but has HP changed or updated the ability to install these cards on these specific older computers? If not, PLEASE HP, help your existing users. Please remove the whitelist from these older BIOS, specifically the ELITEBOOK 8560W. Thanks.

A:Intel wireless-ac 7260 with Elitebook 8560w

You still have the whitelist. It is not present in computers having an Intel Core 4th gen and higher CPU, but yours is second gen so the whitelist is still a problem for you. People have been asking for "de-whitelisted" BIOS for these machines for years and it has never happened so I can't hold out any hope it ever will.  These two devices will work: Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 802.11 3x3 a/g/n WiFi Adapter 572511-001Intel Centrino Advanced N 6205, 2x2 a/b/g/n WiFi Adapter 631954-001 The 6300 takes 3 antenna and the 6205 only two. Both are 2.4 and 5 ghz compatible devices and are pretty good wireless cards, just not 802.11ac.  https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-n-6300AGN-Wirless-THINKPAD-572511-001/dp/B01EDT6I2C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UT... https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-631954-001-Intel-PCI-express-Wireless/dp/B00TI8CMX8/ref=sr_1_1?ie... The above are very strong wireless cards, particularly the 6300 with 3 antennae if your laptop has 3 antennae. I am sure it has at least 2. I wish I could link you to a workable 802.11ac card but I cannot and these are the best you can get.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hello.I own an elitebook 8560w since 2012.I had never ever used its battery, because actually i never needed to (I used it pretty much as a desktop). Yesterday,i bought a genuine hp-battery specific for my computer. And here is the problem that occured:While my computer is ON with the battery disconnected, when i connect the battery, the power switches from ac to battery like it should, but the battery is NOT charging. Moreover,i dont have the "plugged in,not charging" problem like most of other people in forum discussions, but right after the moment i insert the battery, the charger connected to my laptop is totally ignored!Like its not connected at all! As a result,if i disconnect the battery, the laptop power doesnt switch back to the charger, but shuts down ,as it doesnt "see" any power supply. Not only that, but even if it shuts down it will not start up,until i disconnect and re-connect the charger (maybe because it is still waiting to get power from battery which was disconnected and is not switching to the charger supply). Finally,i ran a battery test in hp connection manager and result was that battery is "OK". I have my laptop on dual boot (Windows-7-64 / Kali-linux ) and all these problems above apply to Kali as well, which leads me to the conclusion that it isnt a software problem. Also,i have to mention something important: After the original charger i had bought the laptop with, stopped working 3 years ago,i didnt buy the genuine, but a universal... Hi FolksI have a HP 8540w elitebook, with the Nvidia Quadro FX 880M, Win 7 x64 Pro, Core i7 620M.My question is: is it possible to upgrade the graphics card to a Nvidia Quadro K1100M or K2100M?At the level of standards connector boards and architecture seems everything is compatible. Standards of PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0 write compatible in both directions. But I have heard that HP as it blocks the BIOS setup other devices if they are not supplied by the plant. is this true? If so then it turns out that the maximum that you can put it FX1800M he enters one of the options set .. Or perhaps take K1100M / K2100M from new generations of HP 85XX, or can be of laptops from other manufacturers ?? Another alarming fact that K2100M consumes 55W, while the card installed HP in particular FX1800M consume 45W. With the cooling system is quite clear that to do, but is there enough electrical power?Thank you.

A:Upgrade Graphics Card on HP Elitebook 8540w

1. The memory simply downclocked and is running at 1333 speed.  2. There is no video card whitelist but you have to be really careful with MXM video cards. Be sure the heatsink is in the same location as the original and you have the same kind of MXM card; i.e the insertion edge is the same. If all that is true you can swap out video cards but it is a major job.

Hi. We are currently having problems after upgrading 3 laptops to Windows 10 Enterprise (clean install). All the 3 models are Elitebook 850 G1 with Intel and AMD graphics cards, notebook has modelnr: H5G42EA#ABN. When the laptop booted from a HP 2013 ultraslim docking the Intel graphics card is reporting error 43, which means that when the user moves the laptop out of the docking station the monitor on the laptop is blank.I noticed today if I boot the laptop out of the docking there is no error with the graphics card (no error 43). I have tried uninstalling both graphic cards, installing the newest drivers from HP, from intel and AMD, tried older drivers from HP but no matter what we try it still boots with error 43 in the docking. Any suggestions for this error? RegardsAleksanderIT Consultant

Hello, I'd like to know if there's a list of notebooks that support this "switchable graphics" feature? Or at least if anyone can confirm or deny that the Elitebook 8470P supports Switchable Graphics? I've seen people struggling with it and I don't have my laptop with me at the moment, its in shipping. Hi: If those are the specs for the notebook you have, it has switchable graphics. However, there are two kinds of switchable graphics, and since I don't own a 8470p, I can't tell you which type you have. See these links for more info... http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02731962 http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03048374

I have an HP Elitebook 8460p. The machine is powerful and can even support 16 gigabytes of RAM. The downfall is that it has Intel HD 3000 graphics (which is VERY, VERY Poor) If I were to upgrade my current processors to Intel Core i5-3380M's, would I get Intel HD 4000 graphics? The socket is the same for both processors. (G2 socket specifically) System Specs: Windows 10 64 bitIntel Core i5-2520m (x4)4 gigabytes of ram (at the moment)250Gb hard drive

I'm interested to know if it is possible to upgrade the graphics card in my HP Elitebook 8470W. I know that it came with an AMD FirePro m2000 graphics card and I know that they make several higer end models of that graphics card. Is it possible to purchase a higher end version of that graphics card and install it in my computer.

No unlike some of the mobile workstation models yours is switchable discrete video meaning the video is soldered to the motherboard. There is no higher or better motherboard available. Sorry.  See page 120 of the Service Manual here: Your Manual

Hi, I have a EVGA e-GeForce 7600GT 256 MB PCIe Video Card which supports the SLI technology allowing me to link up 2 or more graphics cards for greater performance. Now this card has DDR3 memory. I wanted to know if I can link it up with a DDR2 memory graphics card which also supports SLI. If I can, how will this difference affect performance?

Which card?? "A card with DDR3 memory", or "A thingy with a red switch on it" tell us just as much.
But if it's not another 7600 GT you're trying to SLi, just forget it, especially if you're going to buy the other card.

Hi, recently I've downloaded a game and whenever I get on it tells me my driver for my graphics card (Intel HD 4000) isn't updated. Then the game starts crashing. I realized the driver for graphics that HP gives is from 2013 and Intel has a much more recent driver from 2015. What I was wondering is if it is safe to remove and uninstall the HP driver and install the driver from Intel. Also, how exactly would I go about doing it? By uninstalling it from device manager then installing the Intel version? Thanks a lot in advance

Hi, You can use the following method to update the Intel Graphics driver. First, download the latest Intel HD4000 driver for your notebook from the link below and save it to your Downloads folder - you need the fourth option ( ie win64_153343.4425.zip ).  Note:  If you wish to install a different driver version from Intel, the method is still the same. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25977/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8... When done, download and install the .64bit version of 7-Zip on the link below. http://www.7-zip.org/ When you've installed 7-Zip, open your Downloads folder, right click on the win64_153343.4425.zip package, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok. Cut this newly extracted folder and paste it on your Desktop so it's easy to find. When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right click the Intel 4000 device and select 'Update Driver Software'. In the following window, select 'Browser my computer for driver software' and then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. In the next window, click the 'Have Disk' button and then browse to the extracted Intel win64_153343.4425 folder you pasted on your Desktop. Browse into the sub-folder Graphics, left click on the file igdlh64.INF to highlight it and then click ... I've seen this issue on two separate HP EliteBook 840 G1 laptops now, it's the same build, but different methods of installing Windows 10.The first was a straight 8.1 to 10 upgrade so there were a lot of variables to throw in there with preinstalled software/drivers and such. The second is a 100% fresh build. Clean install of Windows 10 x64 Enterprise.Installed each HP driver in recommended order.Installed all Windows 10 updates. I have 2 HP LV2311 monitors and an HP slim dock.840 G1 has the AMD Radeon HD 8750M as well as the Intel HD graphics. If I dock the laptop and power it on the 2 screens will work normally. If I undock the laptop while powered on and open the lid the laptop's display will never come on. I've tried to put it to sleep and wake it up, it does not work.  The only way to get the laptop screen to work is to do a complete shutdown by forcing the laptop's power off.  Once it's off I can power it back on and the laptop's display works properly. It works the same way the other way as well.If I have the laptop display on and then dock the laptop, the dual displays never display anything.  If I shut the lid without powering it down and put the laptop to sleep, the displays never turn on.  If I wake it up, the displays to not function.  Again the only solution to get the dual monitors to work once docked is to power the laptop down entirely and then turn the laptop back on.The laptop, dock and graphics are obviously not working... Hi for the last 4 months ive been trying to fix a problem that ive been having with my computer.
about 4 months ago I did a major pc upgrade where i replaced my motherboard, processor, ram, heat sink, power supply and case, the only things I used from the original computer where 2 HDD's, 1 SDD and my AMD radeon HD 6950 2gb.

Now ive have the most strange issue where i can be watching a video off the HDD or surfing the web on youtube etc and not long after I start the activity my computer will turn off like if I had flicked the switch on the back of the power supply and then it boots back up again and will run fine until i start up an activity again and then it does exactly the same thing and reboots, there is no BSOD shown nor Dumps Created.

Ive tried many things to sort this out and have RMA'ed the power supply and the motherboard (the motherboard wasn't a direct replacement as they didn't sell my original board anymore which was a gigabyte ga-x79-ud5, now i have an asus p9x79 deluxe). I have tried only plugging in one HDD/SSD and then tried a spare HDD when that failed, i have tried one ram stick at a time and still nothing.

now heres where it gets strange whilst trying to rule out differnt hardware i switched my AMD card out for a very old 512mb, pcie 1.0 x16 nvidia graphics and since then my computer has been running marvelously i can have it playing videos for hours, days even(although i havent properly tested for days) and not a single problem at all.

The comparison you are making between GPU brands is pointless as a diagnostic. The MAIN difference I can see is that one card requires external power, and the other one does not. A proper diagnostic would be to test another GPU that requires external power.

I've heard that the specific PSU you bought will sometimes not power all the hardware it is supposed so.
People saying it could barely power a SSD, or even an extra fan.

My thoughts. Try using another PSU, try using a similar GPU. Use your old PSU and see if it still happens for starters.

My graphics display suddenly stopped for my computer. My PC is not even recognising my monitor, I tested my monitor with some other PC's and it is working properly. I though graphics card not working.??

But since my existing graphics card is gone and there is no on board graphics card on my PC I am not able to uninstall existing graphics card and install new one.

Could some one please suggest me what to do in this situation to see some thing in monitor so that in can start doing Uninstall/Installtions.?

Thank you very much for your replies in advance. I really apprecite it.

Thanks
Satish.

A:How to install graphics card when the existing graphics card in not working.

You could always stick the new one in and boot up in safe mode. Then proceed to uninstall all the remnant drivers. That *shouldn't* cause any problems, but it may be choppy when you boot up.(I've had this happen before, swapping a Riva TNT2 for a GF6600).

I cannot get the Intel HD Graphics 4000 in the HP EliteBook 8470 notebook to work with the Dell 3014t monitor at a full resolution. I installed the latest HP drivers and the Dell Display Manager, all to no avail. With a DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable, the monitor is recognized as a Dell Digital Television (?) and the max. resolution is only 1920x1200 @60 Hz.With a DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable, the monitor is not recognized at all, in either DP 1.1 or 1.2 mode selectable on the monitor. I would like to get the native 2560x1600 @60 Hz resolution (which the monitor supports when connected to an nVidia GTX680) via either connection. Also, the notebook does support 2560x1440 @60 Hz when connected via a DP-to-DP cable to a Dell U2515H monitor. Can anyone help?

Hey there! This is my first post here, so bear with me   We recently swapped out our EliteBook 8470p and 2170p's that had it's sim card slot behind the battery for use with the mobile broadband module (at least if i remember correctly for the 2170p).But now, on the 820 and 840 G1's I'm unable to find this. Shouldn't it be somewhere? I mean, how else are my customers going to use the mobile broadband module?  Thank you.

With additional eyes from a couple of my colleagues we found it. I'm attaching a screenshot of the sim card slot on the 820. Maybe it will help others  It was under the battery on these models as well, but with a barely visible SIM marking.
