Multiple Browsers with multiple issues

Q: Multiple Browsers with multiple issues

Hey guys,
I've currently got 4 different browsers installed on my computer (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera). I've had different issues with each and every one of them. Right now I'm using Opera and for the most part it's been pretty good. Although lately it's been starting to act up.

I stopped using IE a year ago because it would just shut down on it's own. Chrome would freeze up. Firefox seems to lag sometimes and now Opera is showing signs of lagging. Lately Opera has become particularly bad with Facebook and is slow to load images. I've removed Opera and reinstalled. All of the browsers are up to date. The computer was reformatted a little while back. Everything is up to date. Virus scans show it's clean. I deleted all temporary internet files, cookies, etc etc. My hard drive has lots of free space on it. I know my internet is supposed to be high speed but sometimes I wonder about that. I've had issues with the modem in the past. So maybe that's one possibility?.
My computer is about 4 years old. Acer model AM3970.
Windows 7 64 bit.
CPU - Intel Core i3 processor 2120
RAM - 4GB DDR3 Memory
HDD - 1TB harddrive.

Can you recommend any other browsers that might be better than what I'm using?. Any help would be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Multiple Browsers with multiple issues

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Multiple Browsers with multiple issues

Hi Classic2016, welcome to the Forum.

As you are having issues with all browsers, the logical possibility is your modem or internet speed.

Does your computer perform properly when not using the internet. If so the check in Device Manager for any modem driver issues. If all seems well there then, the modem itself may be the cause.

I have had an issue the past few days with a computer. Basically whenever I open up Firefox(newest version) or IE9 they will just lockup and crash. A thing pops up about sending in a report to Mozilla and I've done that and no word back yet. IE 9 just crashes and restarts itself over and over again. The weird thing is that Chrome works perfectly fine. I've also noticed that when I try to update certain programs like Avast, it won't connect to the server it says. This happens for a few other programs too like Windows Update. Some programs I can update fine though like Spyboy S&D. I've run multiple scans with Avast including boot time and full scans. I've also ran full scans with MBAM and Spybot. I've found a few items and cleaned them such as Whitesmoke-pup and a few other random things like coupon bar. I've even run CC Cleaner and Registry Mechanic and still no luck. I've reinstalled both browsers and even previous versions of the browser and it doesn't help any. I'm not sure what is causing these crashes to happen and haven't found much online that's useful. Any help suggestions would be great on this matter! Thanks in advance.

Our ISP recently updated their hard ware to work with the Sprint network. Note: our ISP is not Sprint, but the local phone company.

Our Hardware:
Internet: DSL 10.0 (highest speed available)
Modem: Comtrend (ISP provides)
Router: Belkin N
Computer: 10 yr old Dell running XP - service pac3 - wired connection
Kindle Fire (first edition, no HD, etc) - wireless connection
Xbox 360 - wireless connection

Issues:
Xbox - went from constantly bumped from Xbox Live game by losing internet connection to not being able to enter a game at all
Kindle - went from occasional "network error' message during online tasks to having to restart download (multiple times) or refresh page for most any or all online tasks
Computer - have to click refresh to get most any page to load after the home page

What we've tried so far:
I have recently cleared the cache on both the computer and Kindle. XBox's new security measures have been met.

My questions:
Do any or all of these issues seem to be related?
Is there a piece of equipment or something we may be missing to make all of these things work? I am a networking novice.
Who should I call to get these issues corrected, my ISP or a tech service? Note: if I start with the ISP and they do not find an issue I have to pay for the call.

A:Multiple issues over multiple devices

First. You should try to NOT use a wireless connection for any type of gaming: PC, Mac, Console, etc. If you can hard wire the xbox you'll be waaay better off than using wireless.

Now... Yes, the issues could be related - there maybe an issue with the Belkin N router. I'd try to first reset the Belkin router to default settings, check on manufacturer website for instructions how, most routers you can press a "reset" button w/ a paperclip or ball point pen. Reconfigure the Belkin router, recreate the wireless network and see how everything works. If you are still having issues, humor me and connect the Dell directly to the DSL modem, bypassing Belkin router. See if you still have connection issues, if you do then it could be the DSL modem that is the problem and call your ISP to replace. If you don't have same issues then it's most likely an issue with the Belkin router. Replace it. Don't buy the dirt cheapest router at the store, but you most likely don't need the most expensive one either. Find a good middle ground router, ask sales associate to assist you accordingly.

Post back, Hope this helps!!

Hi rhone81,

Welcome to Tech Support Forum!

I apologize for the delay getting to your log. The helpers here are all volunteers and we have been very busy here lately. If you are still having malware problems, I will be glad to help.

OK, let?s do this first.

BEFORE BEGINNING, Please read completely through the instructions below. Please also print these instructions or copy them to Notepad (or another word processor), and save it for easier reference. This is because we will be in Safe Mode during the fix and you won?t be able to access the Internet to view these instructions.

Do you have Netpumper or Bitgrabber or BitRoll installed? If so, uninstall them via Start -> Control Panel -> Software -> Add or Remove Programs. This is because they are bundled with the malware you are dealing with (Swizzor aka Lop).

Also, please check to see if the following are present in Add or Remove Programs and uninstall them if found:

CiD Manager
CiD Help
Download Plugin for Internet Explorer
Messenger Plus
Messenger Plus 2
Messenger Plus 3
ProCheckTool
Zone Media

If during uninstall, you are asked for uninstall Verification, please enter the numbers that will appear in the window.

Then reboot. <-- Important!

NEXT:

After reboot, please download Deljob.exe and save it on your desktop.

Double-click Deljob.exe.

A log named logit.txt should open afterwards. This log will be present on your desktop.

Please post the contents of the Deljo... Read more

A:Is it ok to have multiple browsers?

I have, for years.  It's fairly well known that certain browsers "play better" with certain websites than other browsers do.  I've got Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and IE on this machine, though I only use the first two in that list on a routine basis.

Since I also use ad blockers and other privacy plug-ins/extensions there are occasional times when I want or need to use a "naked" browser and both Edge and IE serve this purpose.

It worked for me so try it now. What do you get when you try IE? How about when you try firefox safe mode. I don't know what lastpass is so what do you get when you disable it? Have you tried another machine or even from another location? Perhaps your ISP has it blocked.

1. Something causes occasional ad popups via the directrdr.com site.

2. In Task Manager, multiple versions of iexplore.exe show up over time, even if I don't manually launch IE8. If I don't shut them down, everntually browsing speed slows down significantly, as well as taking longer to input text within a browser. Hello all,

I have a friend that is having problems with her computer. I've never seen this problem and can't find a thing about it on the internet. The problem she
is having is when she is online and goes to "any" webpage sometimes numerous browsers open at a really fast rate. All being the last website she had been recently. When she closes one, it will reopen back up about 20 or more times. Sometimes this happens when she goes to shut down the computer for the night and then all of a sudden 20 pages suddenly show up right in a row. She ran her virus scans with nothing there, ran the spybot and adware scans and nothing there. So now we are stumped. My first thought was to have her clean her mouse and then clean her keyboard. Anyone with ideas?

Have her make a folder on your hard drive, like My Documents\HJT
Download Hijackthis.
Unzip the file to the folder on your hard drive.

Double click on Hijackthis.exe then click on the "Scan" button, then click on "Save Log".

Copy and paste it back here and someone will be happy to review it.

Don't make any changes until instructed to do so.

Yes, that will be ok. I use IE9, Chrome, Firefox and Pale Moon with no problems or conflicts.

IE7 is not very secure. You might want to consider updating to IE8 or 9.

Well first off i'm going to mention that this is my mothers computer that i'm trying to fix and i'm not totally sure what was done to it.

It is a Dell XPS m1710 laptop. Running windows XP SP3.

I've noticed that not all images are loading or shown in multiple browsers. IE7, and firefox.

To try and remedy the problem i've done the following things so far. updated adobe flash, upgraded IE7 to IE8, installed and tried Firefox 3.0.1. Ran a virus scan with SUPERAntiSpyware. and Updated Java.

What's really stumping me is that the problem is appearing in multiple browsers so i'm thinking that there might have been a malware of some sort in the past that made a change to the registry or services.

I could also provide a hijack this file if that would help and i'm attaching a screenshot of a webpage that i know well so that you can compare it yourself to what it SHOULD look like.

The website is http://www.gamereplays.org

A:Not all images are shown with multiple browsers.

What images are not loading? What is loading in their place? For instance, when images are disabled in the browser, you usualy get a little red x that marks where the image should be. When you are missing an app, such as flash, you usually get an icon and a message stating Flash is missing. Many pop-up blockers also block the ads/images and put icons/messages in their place.

I have scanned with AVG Free, S&D(spybot) , Ad-Aware, Super anti-spyware, and Malewarebytes with nothing showing as a problem (except some tracking cookies) or a virus. Please reply I would appreciate the help. Thank-you very much ===========Hello While we understand your frustration at having to wait, please note that Bleeping Computer deals with several hundred requests for assistance such as yours on a daily basis. As a result, our backlog is quite large as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Although our HJT Team members work on hundreds of requests each day, they are all volunteers who work logs when they can and are able to do so. No one is paid by Bleeping Computer for their assistance to our members.Further, our malware removal staff is comprised of team members with various levels of skill and expertise to deal with thousands of malware variants, some more complex than others. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. In either case, neither of us want someone to assist you who is not ... Hi,
I started getting multiple browsers instantiate seconds apart when I walk away from my computer. Hundreds of them when I get back. I wondered if it was a seamonkey thing, but I'm not sure. What I could find here shows there is nothing in the combofix logs of smiler complaints. I have never run with anti virus and I really don't think I have that kind of problem now. But I want to make sure. (#Deleted#) The URL is something like c://Temp/~?/something3.php. I didn't copy it because my reaction is kill when this happens. If there is a next time, I'll grab the URL

Thanks to anyone that can give me a hint.

(P.S. Last night I only had the mail window open and away from the computer for an hour. Then my NPR feed suddenly started, (real player), that I start with a browser link to a link. And there were a couple of hundered browser windows open!. If this is a virus, it had to get into my seamonkey history. Weird is all I can say.)

Thanks, Dan.

Hi,

Computer: MSI GE62 Apache-276 i7 5700HQ GeForce GTX 960M 2gb
OS: Windows 10 (has not been registered with key, upgrade was temporary and key was not provided)
Virus software: Malwarebytes and AVG Free, CCleaner
Websites not working: fedex.com and silicon valley bank
Browsers used: Edge and Firefox

Issue: when trying to access fedex.com or Silicon valley banks' websites, they keep redirecting and never fully load if I type them in the browser bar. If I look them up on Google's homepage and click on their links on the search results, I can access the website. Fedex, however; will continue to redirect on its homepage and I would be unable to click in the username and password boxes to login. A workaround I found was to simply press the "x" in the search bar to stop the page from loading and then proceed from there. I am trying to figure out the reason behind this so I can load them normally.

I'm sure I'm not the only TSG member with multiple web browsers installed, so I'm curious as to how others install Flash updates. I first tried to update Flash in Firefox, and the install failed. No details as to why. It just displayed "Error" in the Adobe Download Manager window. I restart Firefox and discovered Flash had been completely removed. Then I was able to install the latest version.

Then I opened IE and tried to update Flash, and it simply will not update. I don't get an error. The download and install process completes, and then I get the message that Flash is successfully installed, but it's still the same old version.

I had these same problems the last time I tried to update Flash. I ended up having to remove it through Programs and Features (Win 7), and then when I installed it in one or the other browser, both were updated. And I had the same problem on two different Windows 7 computers, so it's not just an issue with one install.

How do others update Flash on multiple browsers?

Well I've had this problem for a while, and I can't for the life of me figure it out. Whenever I have firefox open, and I want to open a new window and click on the firefox quick-launch icon, or whenever I click a link while FF is open, I get the "choose user profile" prompt. The only way I can open a new window is with going into firefox and "ctrl+n." This is especially irritating when clicking links in AIM, etc. and I have to go, copy the link, open the new browser and then paste. I've tried reinstalling firefox, and changing my setting to open external links in new tabs, and in the same window. It still doesn't work. Any help is appreciated.

While i had Malware Defense i was having problems with Mozilla (my main internet browser) crashing and i figured it was due to the virus however i would be able to restore the session so other then an inconvenience it wasn't much of a problem. However after removing the virus (i think, there hasn't been any more popups or anything) Mozilla was fine for maybe an hour or two and then it closed without an error message and when i went to restart it noting came up. So i restarted my computer and tried to start Mozilla and again it would not open so i moved to internet explorer. This stayed open long enough for me to get to google before it as well closed and it is having the same problems as Mozilla. I am currently using Safari without problems but i don' t want to leave the problem be and have it come and take safari as well. All three of these browsers were installed before my computer got infected but after the problem with mozilla and internet explorer i decided to download google chrome as a back up incase safari stopped working however once i click on a link it closes as well making it all but useless. Hello,

I am in need of some assistance with my IE 10 browser, but the problem only happens while using the default MSN homepage.

After closing the web browser a number of times while on MSN, multiple browsers will suddenly reopen. I have noticed that when the browsers reopen, the url is a little different from the original. Here is an example of what some of the urls might look like below.

MSN.com

But when I change my default homepage to another search engine, such as google, yahoo, or bing, this problem does not occur. It only happens on the msn website.

Just today, I have discovered what is causing the browser to do this and it is the TrueSuiteService application that is part of the HP Simplepass program that is already pre-installed on my laptop. When disabled, the problem no longer occurs. However; when it is enabled, the problem will reoccur after a certain amount of times opening and closing the browser.

Here is a screenshot of the application disabled below.

But, here are two screenshots of all the applications that are enable on startup.

Either way, I am unsure of which direction I should take to solve this matter completely. Please help me.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Sara welcome to Seven Forums,
I'm glad you took my advise in asking your question here,
Hopefully someone can help soon with your interesting problem, and loaded startup menu,
Cheers.
Multiple IE 10 Browsers Reopen After Closing Default Homepage (MSN - Microsoft Community

Quote from the other thread,
I followed the instructions within the clean boot about background applications and it worked. I discovered that the background TrueSuiteService application from HP in the services tab was what was causing the problem. After disabling it, I no longer had multiple browsers opening up. However, it still boggles my mind that how come it would be this application causing this issue? Also I notice that all the HP products are labeled "Hewlett-Packard Company" in the manufacturer status however; the disabled application is only labeled "HP" as the manufacturer? Could this possibly be a hidden virus on my computer? If so, how do I remove it? end of Quote

Firefox gets stuck on "Connecting to..." and Chrome gets stuck on Sending Request...

It only happens on certain random sites (one being speedtest.net for example) while everything works fine on other sites, such as youtube. I checked my host files and everything lookded fine(it was empty), I emptied my cache on Chrome, I scanned for viruses and such using Bitdefender, I contacted my interent provider and they said everything was fine on their end too.

The only other problem that seems to be associated with this one is the fact that my ping will occasionally spike really high. Also, when I go to other sites like speakeasy.com to check my connection speed since I can't access speed test, the connection will rarely show around 11 mbps instead of the usual 30; but when I retest the connection speed again, it will come up fine. This problem has been occurring since yesterday fyi.

A:Can't Access Certain Sites Across Multiple Browsers

Seems to be working now. Windows auto-restarted for an update while I was sleeping and upon reboot, everything seemed fine. I can access speedtest.net and everything checks out. I'll reply to this thread if anything changes.

I had a computer become infected with some malware, and spam viruses, I don't know what all of them where but I'll list a couple. smitfraud-c.gp and virtumonde.dll where the two that where hardest to remove. I got everything cleaned up but now websites have broken images. This happens with all sites that I've tried. I upgraded from IE 6 to 7 and tried Firefox, and get the same results. Anyone have similar experiences, or advice?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

A:Broken Images (multiple Browsers)

Well, doesn't look like it makes sense to anyone else either. I'll post what I found out in case it helps anyone else later on. I can't figure out what could possibly be the problem, but booting from the XP CD and running the repair doesn't fix it. The problem seems to be limited to profiles that where logged in to while the system was infected. So I logged into an account that hadn't been accessed during that time and deleted the profiles (just the data for the profile, not the user from Active Directory / Computer Management) that had the problem. I also copied the good profile over the default user, but I don't know if that step was necessary. When the user logs back in their profile is re-created from the default user, and doesn't have the problem. Make sure you backup the My Documents, Desktop, Favorites, and email from the profiles you delete, so you can restore them after the profile is re-created.

Hope that helps someone in the future

Mike

Download ComboFix here :

Link 2
* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Here is a guide on how to disable them

Click me
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt log in your next reply.

About a week or so ago I had a virus that blacked out my screen and hid all of my files/icons/etc. It posted a message trying to get me to buy some software that would "fix" my computer. I found the necessary anti-virus solutions and "unhide" capability to get everything back. But since then I have a problem with unwanted redirections from both google and yahoo search engines on both Chrome and Firefox. I can do a google or yahoo search, but then when I click on one of the displayed search results it takes me to various advertisement websites. In the same session, I can use the back button a couple of times to get back to the google/yahoo search results and try again -- it will do these several times during this session and then it will let me start clicking on the search results without any unwanted redirects to advertising sites. If I close out the browser and restart a session, the redirects start allover again. I have spent the last four days researching and doing thing to try and clean this up. I have run multiple malware/spyware/anti-virus solutions (AVG, Malwarebytes, Super Anti-spyware, SpyBot, Ad-Aware - Lavasoft, and probably a couple of more) to NO avail. They all find issues, even when I run them one right after another (I ran the all the above one right after another, rebooting the computer in-between each one). I am so frustrated. I use Windows 7 64 at work and generally use Chrome, but sometimes Firefox.

I noticed last week in Chrome that certain text across multiple websites seemed formatted incorrectly. It looks like Arial Bold Italic. I first checked my settings to make sure it wasn't set as a default font for some reason (although I always have browsers set to allow the website to choose) and it was not. Today I notice that the same thing is happening in Firefox! Again, the settings are fine. Any ideas?

This seems to be a Windows issue since it is across multiple browsers, but I really have no idea.

Thanks for any help!

Fresh Windows Install on a 5 year old custom build. Previously never had this problem. If a site has flash this is what it looks like:

Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Even after uploading these pictures to imgur I got a notification that flash had crashed.

I'm even having this problem on THIS site, luckily I'm able to post this though. http://i.imgur.com/xphpuCG.png

Running NoScript in Firefox fixes this problem.

I'm not discounting the possibility of a video card issue because I was having some problems earlier with installation, I've since got my Radeon HD 5770 working but this problem persists.

I have tried multiple reinstalls, different browsers, turning off adblock, safemode, turning off hardware acceleration. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I need 10 different browsers open and after some searching found a way to write a batch file which worked but with a couple of problems.

The problem is it opens them all at once and several of the browsers crash. So I tried adding a ping after each one as follows:

@echo off
start /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application" chrome.exe
PING 127.0.0.1 -n 1 -w 3500 >NUL
start /D "D:\Program Files (x86)\SRWare Iron" iron.exe
etc etc etc

but they all still open at the same time, search gave other options like using "delay" but every other option I tried didn't work either.

The other problem is that the browsers that don't crash are not responsive, they just sit there with a blank page until a "page unresponsive" kill window pops up.

Even if I change the file so it is only a single line opening a single browser, it will open the browser and will say loading in the tab but nothing will happen. I have the windows loading circle cursor and i can still click on things but even if I say try to open the history, it will open a new tab for the history but it will just stay while until the unresponsive window pops up.

So I am unable to get a batch file to open a browser and actually load the page and am also unable to get it to open multiple with a delay in between each. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome back newuser The way I usually see it written is

ping -n 1 127.0.0.1

Not sure if that makes a difference.

Believe at least you want the ping time to be 11

@echo off
start /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application" chrome.exe
PING 127.0.0.1 -n 11 -w 3500 >NUL

Quote:
When you use start like this ("title" can just be 2 quotes "" but cannot be left out) start "title" "program.exe" then the script starts program.exe and then returns at once, leaving program.exe running. So now you want to wait for a period of time before starting the next program. Ping can provide that delay and works with all versions of Windows. 127.0.0.1 is the IP address of the same computer that the script is running on. Its name is localhost. The ping command can take a parameter -n followed by a number which is the number of times to ping. The standard ping interval is 1 second. So ping -n 11 sends the first request and it gets a reply immediately, waits one second, sends the next request, gets an immediate reply, and so on – for the ten requests after the first. So to localhost those 11 times takes exactly 10 seconds. We redirect the output to nul so we don't see the ping command or its output on the screen.

My problem is this. I have had a fine running clean machine running Win Xp Media Edition. I was running Avast free edition but seem to have contracted something while surfing blogs that caused 75 or so window browser to open automatically. In addition, it causes flashing cursers and flashing addresses in browser address field and flashing toolbar. When I reboot now, it opens anywhere from 50 tp 150 windows plus the other flashing problems I described. The process of my machine opening these windows and me closing them taps all resources and it takes me 30 mintutes or so to regain control of my machine. Eventually it runs ok after the battle against these windows.
I have removed AVAST and tried AVG to no avail. Finally I am now on Norton. I removed each program so I only had one anti virus running at anytime but none recognized the threat. I udated the virus database for each previous to running.
I followed your steps before my post here with the exception of Panda. It gave me udate errors depsite having my anti-virus turned off as instructed.
I am not a computer expert but tried to follow your directions meticulously.
Thanks for any help!!!
