The exception unknown software exception...

Q: The exception unknown software exception...

Keep getting an error on shutdown that says "The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x38d6811c".

See attachment for more details.

Preferred Solution: The exception unknown software exception...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What do you have running in the backround when you try and shut down?

Try exiting all the taskbar programs in turn and doing a shutdown after each , hopefully this will show which app is causing the issue.

Hi - Is this ever followed by "Click Ok to terminate the program" ? ? It may be a minor infection, or just an Error post -Install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from This Mirror to your desktop.* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.* Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.* When completed, a log will open in Notepad form. Please tell us if any infections were found -Thank You -

Having problems with my computer running Windows XP Pro 2002 SP3. Had a virus that attacked a different computer on our network and ran Malwarebytes, Spybot and Avast. All scans came up clean. If I leave the computer for awhile (several hours) my "All Programs" list goes away, the list of recently used applications is gone and if I try to do a Shutdown or Restart it comes back that "I am not authorized to do that". I am now also getting exception errors:
"exception unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) occurred in the application at location 0x01006a25" and "explorer.exe application failed to initialize properly (0xc000012d)". In an effort to try stop antivirus programs from conflicting with each other, I uninstalled malwarebytes and have avast running in resident and Spybot not in resident but demand only. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Moderator edit: log post moved to Team Forum for review and Member help. jgweed)Hi,I have spent many hours searching and downloading tools etc and can't fix this problem. I am not very comp literate. i know there are many posts regarding this topic, but so far, solutions aren't working. Can you please give me some advise?Am using a non valid windows xp, SP1 (am unable to load SP2) and have many other problems, which I will post about later. I disabled the RPC service as this was closing me down all the time. I also am having major frustrations with the braodband connection as it times out within 5 minutes and have to disconnect the usb and start again, sometimes so many times that I have to restart the comp to get online. The main problem is:"exception unknown software software exception (0xc00000fd) occured in application at locatio 0x75869863"I have used BOH removal, which finds 2 applications it says to keep. A:Unknown Software Exception

Hello spazy and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. Am using a non valid windows xp (am unable to load SP2)That is a problem in and of itself. Non-legitimate and non-patched copies of XP will always have problems. We can try a few things but I cannot guarantee that they will work. Also, disabling the RPC service will cause many additional problems since there are many processes and services dependent upon it. You should re-enable it or you may find many applications will not run.First print these directions and then perform the following steps in order:Step #1Download Brute Force UninstallerUnzip it to it?s own folder (c:\BFU)RIGHT-CLICK HERE ( http://metallica.geekstogo.com/EGDACCESS.bfu ) and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download EGDACCESS Remover. Save it in the folder you made earlier (c:\BFU)Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by double-clicking BFU.exeIn the scriptline to execute copy and paste c:\bfu\EGDACCESS.bfuPress execute and let it do it?s job.Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.Press exit to terminate the BFU program.Step #2ImportantYour copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. If it is run from Temporary folders the backups and HijackThis itself could be accidentally deleted if the Temporary folders are cleaned. If it is run from the desktop then the backup files and folders can clutter up the desktop and be accidentally deleted. Please open My Compute... Read more

When I play a game called Combat Arms. Whatever browser I use will freeze, and then crash. This only happened immediately after I was sent a request to add a player, "UltraBooster" in Combat Arms Messenger. Combat Arms Messenger is like Windows Live Messenger where you can text/type people messages before, during, after game and in the lobby.

The freezing and browser crashing does not happen with my other two account's. The Messenger seems like it has been disabled with the one account only. When I attempt to open Combat Arms Messenger I get a pop-up that says:

"Combat_Arms : Engine.exe - Application Error

The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occurred in the application at location 0x3764a2f4

Click on OK to terminate the program."

In the past I could be in-game for hours and never have IE crash. This has been on-going for close to a month now. There has been two support ticket's to Nexon with little to no help. In addition I have scanned my HD for application error's, driver's and virus problem's numerous times. All are free and clear. I have used IE and Mozilla FireFox, both with the same error. This is in addition to going back to the default setting's in the browser and disabling all of the add-ons. The hexadecimal address (Ox3764a2f4) has not been documented anywhere. Right now I am at a loss.

A:Unknown Software Exception

Do you know when this problem began? Try a System Restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem began. Here's the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html. Be sure to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will have to re-install any software and updates you installed and uninstall any software you removed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for the updates.

If that doesn't work, try a clean boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135. If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit causing the problem. Follow the procedures in the article. Once found, delete, remove, deactivate, or uninstall it. Once done be sure to reset Vista back to normal status as explained in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal status and reboot - this solution is not going to work.

Boot into Safe mode with networking and see if the problem occurs there. Either result helps us narrow down the search for the cause.

I hope this helps. If not, post back with results.

Good luck!

OK, my OS is Windows 7 64-bit. Recently when I started my computer, a message pops up which reads, "The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occured in the application at location 0x0029fa4d. Click OK to terminate the program."

The funny thing is, once I click OK, my laptop seems to be working fine. However this is an irritating pop up and does anyone here have any idea what this means? I seem to be getting this pop up when I removed a few toolbars from Internet Explorer. Before this, I had no problems whatsoever, so I suspect that this has got to do with my Internet Explorer.

Please advise! Thanks!

The 0x40000015 error may be caused by windows system files damage. There can be many events which may have resulted in the system files errors. An incomplete installation, an incomplete uninstall, improper deletion of applications or hardware. It can also be caused if your computer is recovered from a virus or adware/spyware attack or by an improper shutdown of the computer. All the above activities may result in the deletion or corruption of the entries in the windows system files. This corrupted system file will lead to the missing and wrongly linked information and files needed for the proper working of the application.

A:Help!! scvhost.exe gets crazy, (unknown software exception) then I can't use Norton

I don't see the viral files mentioned in Running Tasks, however I do see a startup call for a bogus svchost.exe

Use HijackThis to check and 'fix' this entry:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindowsSetup] C:\WINNT\Config\Setup\Microsoft\svchost.exe

Then navigate to that folder and delete or rename svchost.exe

Do not confuse it with the one in c:\winnt\system32

If you get access denied messages restart in Safe Mode and do the same. Try running NAV in Safe Mode as well

Get the rpc patch as soon as possible.

For a long time now i have been getting BSOD's, pretty much all of the time from System Service Exception and KMode Exception Not Handled. Sometimes the PC never gets to the BSOD and just freezes up and restarts. This happens at any time whether im doing nothing or on the internet, sometimes it happens before the PC can load up fully. Most of the time though it happens when i am gaming. I rebuilt most of my PC but this still carried on. The parts that i have replaces are the PSU, RAM, Graphics Card and the case as well as adding in 2 extra fans. The temperature stays withing good values. The PC also often gets stuck on the post boot screen where it says "SMART Check Capable and OK" and it will take a few minutes for it to get past this stage and carry on loading, but this doesnt happen not all the time. I have tried diagnosing this myself but i have hit a wall. I ran Seatools and the HDD failed all of the tests, however after checking the fail code this was simply because it couldnt find the serial number. The HDD then passed tests from both CrystalDiskInfo and DiskCheckup. I thought that it was either the HDD or the MB as they are the only components not to be replaced. Since HDD seems to have passed its SMART tests i am inclined to believe it is the MB. PLEASE HELP!!!

I keep getting Exception Code 3221225477 with Exception Address 005019A9 on my computer when I start it up and sometimes during my use of the computer.
It just started up after I put a cannon camera photostitch program on my computer. I have deleted. Then I did all the updateds that were needed plus cleaning out my computer(defragmenting, disk clean up, removing temporary files).
I even went in and stopped programs from starting up when I turn on my computer to make it faster and to see if it was one of them that was causing the problem. It still keeps coming up. Does anyone know why this happens?

My message comes up as

Unexpected Error
An Unexpected error has occured and this application will close. Then the exception code and exception address follows.
Exception Code 3221225477 Exception Address 005019A9

But when I click on ok nothing closes and I can work on my computer. Then sometimes during the course of working on the computer, the message comes up again but again nothing closes.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any replies.

A:Exception Code 3221225477 Exception Address 005019A9

My guess is that there is a Startup entry which you need to remove. Some remain behind even when a given program may thought to have been completely uninstalled.I'd use AutoRuns for Windows - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx to take a look at the items listed on the Logon tab and see if any apparently relate to your troublesome program. If so, I would delete it, but you can either disable or delete that startup item.Louis

Hi Guys,

I'm a composer working on a deadline and have started to experience quite intermittent BSOD's.
It appears to happen at higher system loads.
I'm reasonably experienced in building custom machines (this is my third on), and so far have never experienced issues with them.
This current one is a racked i7 3930K Hexacore on a Sabertooth x79, with 32gb of Ramm and a GTX470.
I'm using Nuendo 6 in 64 bit mode (Cubase's bigger brother) with an RME Fireface 800.
The fireface runs via firewire and has its own pcie card for this.
In addition there is an external G-tech drive connected via Esata.

In the last week I've been having 1-3 bsod's a day..a real productivity killer and I hope someone can help me out. I've used Whocrashed to at least get an indication of what it might be, but I don't have much experience with minidumps.

The only thing that I have noticed is that Windows is attempting a surface scan during startup, which fails due to a 'recently installed software package' I have no idea what that might be.
I've not been able to do a diskchk on C:
Regardless, C: seems to work fine and I've not noticed any issues.

Drivers are pretty much up to date.

I'm attaching a dump, would someone mind having a look and giving me a clue? Thanks in advance!

I wrote a batch file for remote admin. I includes EXE files written in C++ for remoting into another machine. The AV keeps deleting the C++ file thinking it's a Hijacking malware/spyware. I'm pretty sure that there's a way to add files as exception or add to ignore list. I am running Symantec Antivurs Corporate Edition v. Anyone know how to do this?

Does this need to be done on the AV server, or can it be done any client machine that 's running the AV?

Hi, I have Windows Vista Business 64-bit, and everytime I try to shutdown, at least six programs throw this exception.
I did a quick search and a couple people back in January had the same problem.
I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad and at least three of the programs are Lenovo-related. The two other programs are RoboForm, which functions perfectly minus this exception, and RivaTuner, same as RoboForm, works like a charm but throws the exception on system shutdown.

Can anyone explain this? I went into the Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System and Ctrl+F for TPONSCR.exe (ThinkPad Onscreen Display) and found the actual error:

Application popup: tpvolbar: TPONSCR.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000005) occurred in the application at location 0x02549080.

Click on OK to terminate the program

All the errors are the same, except the memory location (obviously).
It doesn't really disrupt anything but it is rather annoying everytime I shutdown my system.
Thanks for the reply.

A:Software exception (0xc0000005) on Shutdown

0xc0000005 just means "access denied", but in this case it's referring to wild memory writes, not necessarily permissions in the file or registry sense. The fact that you're using the word "throws" in conjunction with exceptions suggests to me that you may already understand the mechanism

It's almost impossible to guess why the crash is occurring based on those data alone, so you might want to start by first updating all of those applications. Perhaps newer versions contain fixes.

I recently installed some software for USB wireless adapters, and then began having the following issue. At one point, after restarting, I had no welcome screen (I posted about this on another thread). But then a few days later, I moved the computer, restarted, and it worked fine, but then this issue started again:

I was using Word. After a couple of hours, Word started acting "buggy"--chunks of text disappearing off the screen, for example--I closed Word, then tried to restart it, and got this error message:

"The exception unknown software exception (0xc06d007e) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812afb."

I restarted my computer, and it worked fine. But, if it all goes down like it did before, I expect to have this issue again, and possibly the no welcome screen eventually, too.

Google search seems to indicate that this is an OS issue, so hopefully it makes sense to post here--if not, I'll repost elsewhere.

Could this be related to the adapters' software? Could it be something else?

Any advice on how to fix this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

A:Help! I'm getting error: software exception (0xc06d007e)

The adapters driver or software program may be conflicting with other applications. If removing the driver and program do not make improvements then I would consider doing a HDD Diagnostic test. Download the Seatools for DOS Iso Image and burn it with IMGBurn boot off of the newly created CD and run the diagnostic tests for your drive.

I install all updates and have never had issues caused by them. All in all, Win 8.x has been very clean and stable for me on multiple hardware platforms.

How about it, are there others out there who have had very few problems with Win 8.x?

A:Am I the only exception or are there others?

Hi All, after a win7 home premium 64 bit repair install I now receive the following error message upon win boot: Preferences. Read preferences
ERR= 2
what= XML exception
name = Preferences

I do not know which preferences it is talking about nor can I find where or how to fix it. You help with this error would be much appreciated.

Also my monitor calibration Spyder 3 pro does not stick upon reboot. Maybe the two are related? Tried reinstalling the spyder software 5 times. It stays active so long you do not restart the Computer. Any ideas?

Im got a Dell Inspiron 1501 running Windows Vista and I use Internet Explorer. Not too long ago, a friend suggested I download Registry Repair Wizard 2009 to fix any registry problems. This program has a bunch of different features but I'm really not sure how to use them all besides the registry scan. I was looking through all the stuff and came across something called a BHO ORGANIZER. The things in here were extremely confusing. There was something that caught my eye though and I'm hoping someone can help. Here's what I found.

Anybody got any clue what this is? Should I be worried? Help Me Please!! Thanks.

Hi Guys

I installed the Win 8 Consumer preview a month back, and it has been working fine until last Friday. I had downloaded some updates for it first thing in the morning, and for some reason I now get an error message on start up that says:

JET Exception Rel. 8250.0: JET Exception: Function "jetinitex( pinstance, 0, grbit | 0x00000020 )" raised exception 0xc0000006 (EXCEPTION_IN_PAGE_ERROR) at address 0x000000DB194EC4B0 (base:0x000007FEFB8C0000, exr:0x000000DB194EC4B0, cxr:0x000000DB194EBFC0). PID:3080, TID:0xd78

I try to close the error and select cancel to debug, but it tells me windows 8 has no debugging software installed. When the error crops up my whole system just drags and I can't even get Firefox or Explorer to run properly.

I've tried uninstalling the updates and downloading debugging software from Microsoft, but it appears the error is preventing me from installing anything. I can't even play games, because as soon as they start up the error message comes up and kicks me to desktop.

I've tried the rollback/refresh and it has had not effect. My last resort would be to do a restart, but I'd loose a lot of things that would have to be redownloaded e.g my Steam collection.

I can provide a screen shot of the error later, if anyone wants it.

You need to download a good Spyware and Trojan Removal program.

Spybot Search and Destroy:

This will also protect your home page from being hijacked.

With any of the above three programs, just like with Anti-Virus software, should have the latest updates installed before doing a scan.

Programs that can help prevent getting infected:

Spyware Blaster

Spyware Guard

Also run MSCONFIG and remove any reference to it there. From what I understand it is related to the Look2Me parasite

Hi Dchung1,
Do you have this:
Uninstall Delfin Media Viewer to solve this problem.

Delfin Media Viewer is basically just like Gator... and if
you don't know what Gator is, Gator is an
advertisement program which I consider to be more
likd a virus than a legitimate program. These types of
programs are more than annoying, they can be
harmful to your system resources and disk space.
Here is Delfin's description of the product:

:::: DelFin's technology is the only one that allows
entertainment, promotional, and advertising messages
to appear to consumers while they idly await their
Internet dial up connection to conclude. When
consumers log-on to the Internet to check e-mail, to
view stock information, or to just surf, most dial up via
a modem. From their PC desktops, they click on their
ISP icon, enter their user name and password, then hit
ENTER. At this very moment, DelFin shows them your
