I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Did you make sure that the settings on the monitor are proper? Sometimes it won't auto detect and you'll have to tell the monitor (through it's own menus) what to do.

I am continually getting the error "Run Time error 1004: Application defined or object defined error," each time a user clicks one of the cells within this excel file. It comes up as apparently a visual basic error. I've search other sites and unfortunately do not know enough about macros or excel formulas to know what to do next, so I thought I would post about it here. One user apparently has no trouble opening it while every other user has the same issue. Here is the debug code:

Private Sub Worksheet_Deactivate()

End Sub

Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)
Cells.Interior.ColorIndex = -4142
Target.EntireRow.Interior.ColorIndex = 8
Target.EntireColumn.Interior.ColorIndex = 8
End Sub

The "Cells.Interior.ColorIndex = -4142" portion is highlighted in yellow, so I assume that's where the error is. From there, I'm not sure what to do to change it. Please let me know as soon as possible what direction I should take.

Thanks

A:run time error 1004 application defined or object defined error

To be honest...I would assume that the file is corrupt and try to replace it. All seemingly meaningful links on this error involve VBA coding and things that can go wrong with it...way overhead my head and out of my interest arena .

If it truly is a coding error (as seems implied), I would take it to the originator of that file, since it throws an error.

Very strange that e pluribus unum...manages to use it without problems .

My father has asked me to post about his pc. It is highly infected with trojans, viruses, email worms--from what I read off the list from the Anti-malware software that comes with Windows Vista. A warning window from that software pops up every couple minutes and then asks for you to buy the full version to fix all the problems.
There were 27 infections found according to Vista's list. I've read that this list can be bogus but it is preventing the running of any kind of software. I tried to run some anti-malware software (like super anti spyware) and Vista says the exe is infected. So I could also NOT run Gmer, HijackThis, or DDS.

His info is:
Windows Vista Home Premium, SP1

I made a post about this last week I think and I cant find the post and I didnt get the help I needed. My problem is all of a sudden my computer has decided to be a d*ck and run slow. What confuses me is the internet is ok. I sign on using aol and then surf the web using netscape and the webpages load at normal speed as they usually did before. What I am having problems is with the system seems to run slow all the time. Programs will stop responding and even adaware is acting up. I'll run it and when I go to delete the stuff it finds it freezes. Spybot seems to work. When I am using aol instant messenger it runs extremely slowly and the same thing with msn messenger. I will hit send and the message takes a good 5-7seconds to send. It just sits there thinking. I checked my cpu usage and its at 10-13% No other programs running in the background. Did a checkdisk, ran norton windoctor and norton antivirus. Cleaned out old cookies and did just about everything I could think of and still no success.

I am running windows xp pro on a rather new celleruan processor with 256mb ddr ram. It was running beautifully until all of a sudden it just acts up. Please someone help me.

Hello and welcome to TSF

I recommend you Subscribe to this thread so you are notified of any replies via email. To do this click Thread Tools, then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant Notification, then click Subscribe.

Please turn off Wordwrap as it makes the logs difficult to read. If you are using Notepad this is done by opening Notepad, clicking Format and unchecking "Word Wrap".

Please download SilentRunners.vbs - Right click & choose Save As... SilentRunners.vbs

Before proceeding, disable any anti-virus or anti-spyware programs that may block/disable scripts

Launch SilentRunners by double-clicking the downloaded file. In the ensuing Window, select 'No' to avoid skipping supplementary searches. Please be patient as the script requires a few minutes to complete.

When it's done, you'll receive the prompt "All Done!". It will create a file called "Startup Programs". Post ALL its contents here in your next reply

Well, after strenuous efforts to save my infected pc- it was concluded that the best option would be to resort to a reformat.

Everything we have done so far can be found: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic401905.html

So, that being said, I have no idea how to reformat a pc. I have no prior windows CDs; but if absolutely necessary, I can go out and buy blank cds.
I am now resorting to my laptop, so I can still stay in touch while I start the process of reformatting. I just unplugged the Ethernet cable from the infected pc, so it is no longer connected.

Thanks in advance,
Mitch

Boot to your Windows cd and the installation routine will begin. Early on you'll be given the option to format before installing - choose that option. Then install the OS. After you get to the desktop you'll need to install all drivers, starting with the chipset driver. Then install a good anti virus app, then go to Windows Update and download & install all updates (except for hardware / driver updates, which should only be obtained from the oem websites).

Hello Mitch

Everything looks good there. Go ahead and re enable with DeFogger. Be sure you do all the updating that needs to be done. Java and Adobe are exploitable if they aren't kept up to date, and with the new install, the original versions are WAY behind.

I read your original topic.....looks like you had a bumpy ride there, so you must feel tons better today.

Welll, I was currently being helped by boopme in the "Am I Infected?" section of the forums- and he told me I needed to come here.

What we have done so far: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic401905.html

Last thing we did was run GMER. I got about 20 different error messages that pop up. And right now I can't use the computer (open a browser, open programs), because these error messages keep popping up.

I can copy and write each error message if needed, but every error and step i've taken can be found in that link in the other section of forums.

Again, I can't even use my PC now, and don't know what to do with these error messages.

My initial problems were:
Can't install Windows Updates (sp3 specifically, and others)
Can't uninstall programs (Itunes, and random programs, games)
Re-directing when open browser--- (Fixed, I think)

Right now my computer is being idle with the error message waiting for me to press [ok], once I do that another will just pop up immediately. I will await further instructions.

Thanks,
Mitch

Was concluded that my system has been completely compromised. This topic can be closed, as I started a topic requesting help to reformat in another section of the forums. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.

First and foremost...thank you for sharing your insights and talents to help society...not to hurt society. Good to know there is still good intentions left in this world. What I know for sure is that there is a special place in He** for these hackers...I hope by now there are laws set to punish them for their evil ways.

Here is the background story: I have a 98W/XP. Last week, got infected and lost all files on WD external harddrive and all desktop icons. Reached out to TSForum for help and recieved a reliable link to 'unhide'. Worked like a charm...but I am still seriously infected.

My Symptoms
There is a radio station that transmits when computer is powered on, it turns off and then comes on randomly. This is not a local station...it is similiar to a podcast of 'Entertainment Tonight'.

When I search for virus help in google, the results lead me to unrelated sales pages. I think this virus is called, go.google...according to research (If I hit cache, I can open the links).

When I create an email...all open pages/tabs shut down...without any warning.

My Desktop taskbar is a greyish/washed out color and icons (my documents, my computer, recycle bin, etc) are very cryptic looking in color.

My DIY Triage:

Full Scans on StopZilla, Malwarebytes, and Super Anit Spyware. Still have the same symptoms.

I did read the 'rules' for this forum and honestly, got a little lost after the step to keep only one anti-virus programs and delete the rest.... Read more

Hello, I was reccomended to this site from a good buddy. Anyways, I'll try to explain my situation as best as possible:

I was attempting to fix this pc for a buddy until i came upon some serious problems. First of all I tried uninstalling unused/old programs and that's when I realized the pc was infected; I can't uninstall crucial programs that are unneeded. I tried uninstalling Itunes, some StarWars game, and a few other programs, and everytime I tried to uninstall them I would be greeted by an error message(I can copy and paste the error message if needed). Then I tried to open a browser(ie), and was immediately redirected to some "anti virus" web sites. I then closed the browser and tried to open MBAM, it said MBAM was "infected" and couldn't be opened. I then tried to open my AntiVirus, but wouldn't open, saying it was "infected". I then rebooted in safemode with networking, updated MBAM, and found about 12 trojans and viruses(I successfully removed them). I was then able to restart normally and open a browser with no re-directs. I then downloaded Avira, and scanned; and it found about 20+ viruses, rogue viruses, trojans, and other types of malware. I succesfully quarntined/moved those. I then installed SuperAntiSpyware, and ran that. It detected some 320 infections, some 240 cookies, the others being trojans and just weird infections i've never recognized before; I then successfully removed/quarantined those. But I a... would like to reformat hard dive, but new motherboard will not detect cdrom and floppy drives. when i boot up it says that there is no array defined..... so how do i find the cdrom so i can reformat.........thanks

A:no array defined

If your mother board won't pick up or reconsize the floppy or hard drive or cd when it starts to boot watch and somewhere on the screen usually bottom left corner you will see something like to enter setup press delete.

Do this and go into set up and have the motherboard find them and then all you will have to do is accept the settings and save and exit.

The floppy you might have to tell it that it is there or another problem might be you have the cables on backwards or a pin might have gotten bent.

I know the last suggestions you might think stupid but we all do make a mistake every now and then so it won't hurt to check. Not trying to insult your intelligence.

Also you might want to check the mother board jumper settings.

That's a message that your onboard RAID controller is trying to see if it has any drives attached to it forming an array of disks, and its not finding any. If its upsetting you, try disabling the onboard RAID (which I am guessing it is) in your machine's BIOS.

Dunno why that would make your other problem happen, though ("when in enter window, every program I enter will jump to another program,it keep blinking and fool around, how to settle the problem?") - I am not sure how that is related to the RAID controller issue.

Greetings All!

I work for an amusement park, and last week we had a powersurge causing all of our networks to go down because the main router was fried or something like that. When they got a new one, it came with extra protections the previous one didnt have, it only lets computer's with registered MAC Addresses connect to it.

Our office has several computers that need to be networked, and currently we have one machine that has a registered MAC address.

I have a WRT54G Router, the DSL Modem is connected to it, and the computer with the registered MAC address is connected to the Router as well, with a static IP.

Is it possible to have the other computers on the network connect to the networked computer without an additional NIC? If the internet computer's local IP is 76.171.115.177, can I have the other computer's connect with a default gateway of that IP address? That way the requests are coming from the computer with the registered MAC address so that the other computers on my network can have access.

Any help would be great!

Config of Registered Computer

IP: 76.171.115.177
Subnet: 255.255.255.224
Default Gateway: 76.161.115.161

DNS: 64.83.0.10
DNS: 209.137.160.3

Regards,

Ify

A:A highly complicated network

The WRT54G is a wireless router and using registered MAC addresses is another technique to ensure only KNOWN devices can get an attachment.

(A) With registered MAC address, you don't need encryption although you really shoud use both

(B) registered MAC address is an option which can be enabled or disabled.

[my netgear does an association of MAC address -> specific IP address to be assigned (not a static setting but has the same effect ]

One process to get all the systems MACs would be

disable the encryption AND the MAC option
get all systems connected
capture the MAC addresses of those system by viewing Connected Systems

Now you can add all those MACs into the router.

Word of Caution: my netgear has a limit of TEN registered MAC address -- I'm sure the linksys does too.

Ok so I used to have the windows 7 setup but I accidently deleted it and it took me a while to download windows 7... it was build 7048 or 7057 I don't remember but I need help! I really want it againg and I need it to be highly compressed (compressed should be around 300-200mb) and that's a huge difference.... If someone can help me I would thank you a lot!

A:Windows 7 Highly Compressed

You wont find any build any where the size you mentioned. The smallest you will get is the x86 version which is a minimum of 2.2 gig. I have seen a lite build knocking about at just under 2 gig but I would go no where near it. The os is still in beta stage and you have got people ripping the guts out of it. Cant believe some people but its true.

So there you have it, 2. odd gig for x86 or 3. odd gig for x64.

Hey all, So I've got a USB port problem and I've tried everything I can think of, read articles and done updates and watched youtube video's. Nothing is working.

I'm running:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Gateway ID49C

It started yesterday when I plugged my portable card reader into my laptop. I need to transfer embroidery files to my memory card. My laptop recognized that I had plugged something into it, but it came up saying it'd failed to install the driver. So I tried again and nothing at all. Didn't even acknowledge it. I then tried to use my USB flash drives. 1 out of 3 worked properly, the others ended up much the same as the card reader, failed driver install, then complete rejection. The 1 that did work was my Windows Boot Flash.
Then when I tried my 1TB external harddrive it ran and continues to run in any port.

I went into the System Hardware and checked the USB drivers, all appear to be working normally. When looking under 'Power' it shows that there is something there, reading "Unknown Device", so basically the card reader is recognized as leeching power from the USB port but nothing else.

I've tried:

Plugging it into different ports
Checking the driver update
Disabling, and re enabling the driver
restarting my computer

Nothing has thus far worked and I really really need to get these files onto the card. If anyone at all can help ASAP it'd be much appreciated.

That is awful small; probably would be a big headache. Also being compressed to that size usually brings bugs/worms, etc. If you want win 7 then download the free RC version from MS download forum. Hey it is good until June 2010.

I am a technician for a nationwide, onsite system support & repair company and encountered this yesterday at a customer site. Following is a copy of what I already advised the other Techs, Kaspersky Labs, & Avert.

I?m advising everyone that today I encountered a new, in the wild, virus that is incredibly destructive. It is known to get past Symantec & Norton AV products, I?m unsure as to how others may fare against it as we?ll never know who get?s it, and who doesn?t unless they have another PC available to them.

This what the client described to me:

?There was a window that popped up stating I was infected with lots of bad viruses, it wasn?t from my Symantec Antivirus, it was different. Before I could close the window, or click on the buttons I started getting all kinds of popups from Internet Explorer, which I never had a problem with before. As I tried to close the popup windows, and the one telling me I was infected.. the computer rebooted and came up with this blue screen?

What I found:

The blue screen was reporting ?UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_FILESYSTEM?. I tried every disk & tool in my arsenal and anything that was Windows XP based did not even see the hardware disk anymore. A Vista based recovery disk did see the hardware, and it did show a partition, however it threw quite a few read errors when trying to read the files on the partition. Open SUSE 11.0 also saw the hardware, and the partition. When I tried to mount it via the partition manager it... Read more

A:New, In The Wild, Highly Destructive

Not to put a damper on this news or anything... but has this been verified? It could very well be that the infection just happened to access part of the disk that was already damaged... Unless there are repeat experiences, this cannot be taken as is. A lot of the info provided in this post, we deal with every day here. The aspect that's somewhat different, is the subsequent HDD failure. Whether or not this was caused by the malware, is yet to be determined, and people shouldn't jump to conclusions too hastily. There are many reasons why a disk just dies. And it appears as though this one might just have reached the end of its useful life.Hope this puts things in perspective here.It is known to get past Symantec & Norton AV products,Is there anything that doesn't?

It seems that I have been betrayed and cheated by the words promissed from HP on their official site "Whether you drop your notebook or spill coffee on your keyboard, you?re covered." or I might not be that literate to understand the meaning of those lines since your side have rejected my claim of droping a laptop from the almirah. First and far most thing I registered the ticket on 15th Sept for this issue and yesterday it has been resolved with the words "Your adp claim has been rejected because it was your  negligency that the laptop fell and there are some clauses in terms and conditions ... "  conveyed from your service team.. Can you tell me what accident actually means. For what I understand is Every accident occurs due to some carelessness or negligence. Now second thing is my laptop was fully assembled before I raised the ticket. The service team visited from your side opened all the parts of the laptop and handed me those parts . Now I have every part of the laptop detached from eachother... Even the Screen have been detached. Now tell me who gonna assemble it again.. I need the answer . Waiting for the reply . I hope your reply shall be quicker then the service that I got from your side

@Alien-ware

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Hi everyone,

I've been working on a client's computer that was infected with well over 400+ separate malicious entries (no joke), including several viruses. It's truly a miracle this machine kept running but it was rebooting on its own. I think they're all under control now (checked by around 10 or so different programs) but I'm far from adept at reading HJT logs and was wondering if one of you experts would mind telling me if I've missed anything of importance? I'd greatly appreciate your advice asap since I will be needing to return this client's PC soon. Thank you so very much in advance for your reply. I've been trying to figure this out on my own. This is very annoying. I'm normally very careful so stuff like this doesn't occur but now that it has its very time consuming.

So at first I had a infection that was limiting my internet. used my own devices to try and figure the issue out. I ended one issue but there are still others remaining. apparently  I don't know what I'm doing.

I've probably done harm to my computer but it "seems" fine.

So if some one will kindly direct me on the chain of commands to right this, I would be very grateful to adhere to a solid process.

Whenever I copy and paste anything from Outlook Express into a Word document, as soon as I try to save or print it, any e-mail address or website address that is showing, will switch to "Error! Bookmark not defined." This causes major annoyances as we receive e-mail notes that need to be converted to a printed newsletter, but end up having to re-type them all in. Help!

A:Error! Bookmark not defined.

After pasting, hit Alt-F9. You are copying fields of some sort that are linked to something else. Once you paste, it cannot find the link.

Try Edit-Paste special as plain text and see what you get.

I had made an index to my text, and also inserted page numbers.

Now, as I want to print it, I get the ubiquitous message "Error! Bookmark not defined". I've tried to get rid of it by "Find and Replace (with blank)", but when I'm ready to print, it comes right back. I have also tried deleting the index - to no avail.

Please help!

I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to use the User Defined function in Paint Shop Pro 7 or could tell me a website where it is explained. Like what are the different Filter Matrix boxs, and what do the numerical values define, and what do division and bias values define?

Thanks in advance for the help

A:PSP User Defined Function

Sorry, but I don't have a clue what you are asking , but there are a lot of PSP tutorials here http://viewlet.com/viewletlibrary/teachlist.jsp?action=go_find&value=paint+shop&language=English
Hopefully there will be one to help you.

Or here is a link to a Paint Shop Chat Forum. Might find the answers you need

I know this questions has been addressed before, but more dealing with table of contents. After spending hours developing an index for my document, when I try to print it I get Error! Bookmark not defined. at every {XE} index entry throughout the document. I have tried everything from pervious posts...updating index, deleting index and reinserting...nothing works.

It has been a while since I have dabbled with VB so please be patient. I have been searching how to do this for a couple of days now. I am trying to create my own data type. I have done it before but cannot think how for the life of me. I want to store a number of objects and have, for example, it's height, weight, shape in a type. I don't want to simply use integer values, I can do this easily, but I would like to have, say, "Small", "Medium", "Tall" for the height and "Round", "Square" and "Triangle" for the shape, etc. As I said, I know that you can define a list of items that you want in your own type, but search as I may I cannot find reference to it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How to make this short...

Windows XP PC worked fine with "no array defined". I did NOTHING to change the array but PC hung up on screen stating "array defined, press <esc> to boot press <control><f7> for fast build. However, nothing happens when I push the stated keys or any other key.

I can get into setup and mess with the bios, which sadly I did, after which PC frooze while "checking ...IDE".

I went back into bios settings, again bad choice, as now I don't even get the "checking ide". PC freezes on blank screen.

Can this PC be saved?

Thanks in adavance,
kriswel

You need to re-setup your BIOS. Check your PC manuals or visit the PC manufacture's support web site for details.

I would like to be able to use certain keys or key combinations to enter data like user name, email address, etc that I have to enter often. Preferably without having a program running in the background. Is there a way?

A:user defined keys

Depends on what program you are using. Word has auto-text which works pretty well. Do you want this functionality in all applications?
