I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In random locations, at random times, my screen will flicker white lines across it with varying frequency. It because most frequent when at high RAM usage, just turned on, or charging at full battery for awhile. I tried sending it back once for repairs, but after a two month wait, it failed. I requested another repair, but tomorrow being my deadline, I believe I am unable to send it back once more. I attempted to contact warranty support, but after filling in my serial number thousands of times, the site believes I am possession of a Vibe series C phone. Is there any way I can fix this issue? Thanks in advance.

Hi One3 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
This solution may help from this article :

Update BIOS to V3.03 9ECN43WW (or later version). http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS100998
Update the Intel VGA driver.
Change the Panel Self-Refresh setting to ?disable? in the Intel HD Graphics control panel. (some versions do not have Panel Self-Refresh setting, skip this step.)

If the issue persists, hardware defective is highly detected. Please contact Lenovo local support center for hardware troubleshoot.
If the serial number would show mismatch from the website,  verify again from the label or use the auto detect feature but if that fails , provide a direct call to tech support . You may have the issue also documented that this behavior is an issue you noticed before warranty expires specially if the above solution did not work.

Welcome to TSG!

Could you tell us what type of screen (LCD panel, or CRT type)?
Did they occur suddenly?
Are all cables firmly plugged in?

Remember only you can see the lines, we can only guess, so the fuller the description of the problem the better.

My son has to use a website called coursecompass to take online "tests" or homework. We had to download a testgen plug in. It shows that the plug in downloaded successfully, but when we push the "take test" button, a white box flashes and nothing appears...friend told me to hold down shift key and try...works in a new IE window...but then when we hit "submit" an empty white box appears on top of screen and everything freezes up. Since yesterday I have been seeing white lines across the screen of my laptop. I have a Sony Vaio CR120E early 2008 model. The white lines/band running horizontally across the screen is not permanent, and goes off if point pressure is applied from the top coverside of the screen, or on the face of the screen.

I did , open my laptop monitor and checked the data connection to the screen and the power supply, and they both look ok, although still on applying pressure the white lines go on and off.

Now I am not sure, it is an issue with the ribbon of my monitor or whole LCD monitor. Do note, that the lcd monitor do works fine sometimes. Please advise.

I'm passing this one on from a friend who's having an issue.

These white lines appear on his monitor (see pic) but only when he's in a web-page, apparently. At other times it's OK.

He seems to have ruled out most of the usual suspects.

Any ideas?

Wenda, I would make sure he has the latest updates for his browser. Also try a different browser to verify it is browser specific or something else.

I just bought a new PC. It have two GPUs, one on I7 cpu and GeForce GTX970. After new installation of Windows 7 everything was ok. I have installed all drivers for the motherboard and for the GPU. I started to have problems, when I wanted to try to play any newer games. I installed DirectX drivers and some Windows Redistributable Packages before running the game. Just when the game menu should open, I lost signal on my monitor. I could here the sound, but there was no signal. So I have rebooted the PC.
Since then I have white horizontal lines across the screen. They appear from the beginning of the booting process. Also in BIOS.
I heared from my friend, that the cause can be possibly that, the game changed my resolution and refresh rate for HD (120+ HZ and high resolution), which my older (~5-6 years) monitor can't handle. So here are the thing which I tried to do for now:
- I uninstalled the drivers with software designed for this purpose, both in normal and in safe mode and installed them again. There was no difference. Even when there are no drivers, I get white lines.
- I downloaded drivers from nvidia website and installed them, but since then I get in normal mode not white lines, but big white squares (big white "pixels") and the screen freeze few seconds after logging in to windows. In safe mode I have white lines.
- I run the PC in low resolution mode. I have white lines or squares, but the screen don't freeze. However, it doesn't solve... Read more

If possible connect a Monitor to the laptop and see if that shows a display. You may have to use a key combination to switch the display to the monitor, usually the Fn/Function key and one of the F keys on the top row (look for an icon like a laptop and a monitor screen on one of those F keys, or just try them all).

What model Asus laptop is it ? (should be on a label underneath, please post the full model ID).

Hey guys. The problem is that when I boot up my computer white lines appear all over the screen. It began happening after my computer crashed with white squares all over the screen. The white square crash happened before but all I had to do was restart my computer to fix it. Though this time the restart did not fix it. I've tried downloading new drivers but no luck. I have re-seated my graphics card but no luck. All the fans seem to be working. I also can't boot into normal mode as it crashes with the white squares after I get past the Windows XP loading screen. Though sometimes I can occasional get into Normal mode though the white lines are still all over the place. The white lines stay when I boot into Safe mode too. I have no idea what the problem is. I hope someone can help me.

Next time you power up try booting up in safe mode which will use a different (default) driver and see if the lines are there. If the lines are still there in safe mode try the monitor on a different system to see if the problem occurs there. It sounds like a monitor problem to me.

Hello all, I hope you can help. Today as I was playing a game, I experienced a problem when the game froze, and white lines going horizantally and vertically across my screen appeared. I restarted my PC and it was ok. Later playing a different game the same problem occured, so I restarted my PC again, however this time the intially screen and all following screens where not functioning correctly. The Asus screen had the white lines, the following screen to tell me windows did not start up properly is discoloured and staticy, and the windows loading screen had moving horizantal lines going down. After a few restarts I got it to work. Later on, Playing the same game as teh second time it happened again. However now, after the windows loading screen my pc goes black, and after a few minutes just restarts. If anyone could please assist me in fixing this, or diagnosing the problem, it would be appreciated. My PC is approximatly 3 years old. Asus motherboard, AMD 64 single core processor, and a Geforce 7600 GT. Up until today it was running smoothly.

Thanks for any help.

A:White lines and PC not starting

It sounds to me like your video card is overheating but it isn't that big of a card. My advice is that if you're able to boot to your desktop, to run a program like "HD Health" and see what the temperature of your system is. The problem seems like it started every time it was under a lot of work, and this would be my first guess.

Oh, and try booting to safe mode if you can. Just a thought.

Welcome elfinwood.

Just to clarify... It sounds as if you have been playing Second Life with your computer for a while, which has always worked fine, until recently, where you have this flashing screen problem? When does this problem occur? Is it after playing the game for a while or as soon as you start the game? Or does it start as soon as your turn on the computer?

If it is when you start the game, does it do it when you start other games (games that require good use of the graphics card/system)?

> When was the last time you updated your drivers?
> Have you changed anything before this started to occur, such as installing new updates?

Hi I have a lenovo g500 laptop running windows 10. It has recently started giving me a white flashing screen with bits of grey and vertical lines. It stays on and does not flicker.
I have to turn off the laptop to get the screen back to normal. Moving the screen back and forth doesn't influence it in anyway and all display drivers are up to date.
I have ran a hardware scan (with the lenovo solution center) on the graphics chip and it passed.
The graphics chip is an intel hd 4000.
What could be causing such an issue?

About 2 months ago, seemingly out of nowhere, a black spot appeared on my screen. I have had this laptop for about 2 years with no problems until the spot showed up. I presumed it was dead pixels, but was unable to fix it myself. The spot has now escalated into a huge white area with multiple blue and pink lines running both horizonatally and vertically. I have to struggle with the screen just to keep it from constantly turning pink and/or blue. I've attached a photo of what my screen currently looks like (put against a black background so you can better see the issue). It's very frustrating that it keeps getting worse even though I'm being as careful as I possibly can with my computer. This is my last ditch effort to see if there's possibly any solution to this problem before I just buy a new laptop altogether. It seems like a better solution than having my LCD display replaced, which I know is very expensive. Thank you for any and all help.

Could be a failing display or a short in the ribbon cable connecting the display to the main board.
but if it disappears when you press on the plastic bezel around the display it probably is the display itself going out or got damaged.

I'm going out on a limb on this one and suggest it might be the beginnings of video card problems. The reason I say that is last year the folders in my Windows Explorer started having this funny shade of yellow. Even though everything else looked okay, the folders looked different.

As time went on other things started happening - colors not as bright, colors not showing! (green was black, etc.) so I got a new video card and all was well again.

Check your monitor, too. Another long shot, but better than no shot.

If you are lucky, it's a loose connection. If you don't have any experience with laptop disassembly, I'd try to find a friend or competent tech to help. Worst case, you will need another LCD. Best case, they find a cable or connector hanging on by a thread and resecure it.

I have a laptop with a touchscreen and almost a year after buying it I would get black places with vertical white stripes on the screen. Sometimes they took up the whole screen, sometimes they were only an inch thick. They always seemed to be changing in size quickly and were always the full length of the screen. A computer mechanic said it was a short in the screen. It happened especially when I tilted the screen.

I sent it in under warranty and they replaced the LCD and updated the BIOS. Less than a week later it is starting to do it again just a little but it seems like it will get worse.

I do a lot of MS office for school and my sister plays the Sims 3 and free tv sites (but she doesn't download anything).

Hi! I have a Asus Radeon 4890 that i have been running at stock clocks for a while now and everything has been working great. Recently ive tried overclocking it from a stock 850 to 950 gpu clock and 975 to 1100 memory clock. Everything worked fine until i tried Crysis, Then this happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Y0NN09PzeM

As you can see a lot of white lines and such randomly flicker all over the place. I have no idea why this happens and it only happens when i overclocked my graphics card, and it only happens in Crysis. I first thought it would be the heat, but during the crysis benchmarking run it was on around 70*C, which i think is fine, but just to be sure i put the gpu fan on manual to 100%, and even on around 60*C this still happened.

Any of you people on here have any idea of what might cause this? and how i can fix it?

I just noticed this happens a little in GTA 4 too, but barely, can only see it if i pay close attention to it. It seems it happens when the Gpu has a lot of load

Hi Hajira,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I am sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with display as there are white circles.
Try to update the display drivers and check for the issue.
Connect to the external monitor and check if there are circles in the monitor.
As you have also mentioned about the cursor try to reduce the sensitivity and update the touchpad drivers.
Hope this helps! Do post us back for further queries.

Hi, first post here.
I've got a reasonably good PC I self assembled about 18 months ago. Everything has been going well, barring the odd BSOD. For the last month or so, occasionally white horizontal lines appear on my screens and the PC becomes unresponsive. If I was playing music when this occurs, an irritating mono-tonic sound comes from the speakers. I have to power down the PC with the power button.
From the white lines I think it's a Graphics Card issue, but it doesn't happen consistently and can happen even when I'm not utilising it much - just browsing the Internet rather than playing video games. I did a search but couldn't find anything similar, so I'm asking for help!

What is the make and model of you PC and how old is it?
Have you ever opened up the PC and cleaned it out to get rid of dust?

My first thoughts would be that either the monitor or graphics card are on the way out, however check that the cables are all connected securely to be sure aswell.

Hi, I'm having trouble with seeing when loading windows. When I first turn my computer on, everything is good. I see my BIOS screen nice and clear. It loads the black screen that has the Windows logo with the loading bar under it, then when it gets to the loading screen, I just get a bunch of black and white lines and cannot see anything. The last thing I remember doing on the computer before this problem was updating drivers. So naturally, I went into safe mode and rolled back the graphics driver. That didn't work, so I reinstalled the graphics driver that came with my graphics card. still no success. I'm beginning to think that it's a problem with windows, not the drivers or card, since the BIOS screen is fine and I don't run into trouble until Windows loads the welcome screen. Does anyone know how to solve this?

on my 26" samsung LCD tv, which i use as a moniter.. when i move things around those white boxes in the screenshot appear, it seems as if the screen is ripping apart... also white/red/blue lines keep flickering all over the place on the monitor, especially on dark colours... whats wrong?

A:White/Red/Blue Lines flickering and other problems

Try taking your Graphics Card out if possible, if it works when you take that out then get it replaced either if its under warranty or buying a new one.

If that doesn't solve the problem try using a different Monitor, if this Monitor works then obviously get your Monitor replaced by Samsung
