I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm trying to use 3 external monitors on my T470s, but it's only giving me the option to select 2 of the 3 external monitors when all three are hooked up.  I'd like to disable my built-in display because it's smaller and darker, but it doesn't give me the option to select anything else for the 3rd slot.  I've tried both HDMI ports on the dock and on the PC with no success.  Is it even possible to have 3 extended (independent) external displays using this laptops hardware?

I have the Lenovo G500 which has one each of a VGA and HDMI port. I'd like to connect both an external VGA and HDMI monitor, plus use the Laptop display. It appears that Windows will support this because it recognizes both monitors when connected, but, the display properties tell me to disconnect the 3rd monitor. Is this just not supported? Do I need to move to a USB-based video adapter to achieve this on this model? My other semi-related question is: has anyone had success converting from HDMI to a DisplayPort monitor? Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone, Recently purchased Yoga 370 with USB-C to Displayport adapter (FRU 03X7204) to connect to my DELL U2412M. When I plugged in the adapter to the Yoga, it detects as "USB Billboard Device". Google tells me that it means something went wrong when during the handshake between dongle and notebook for initializing DP alternate display mode. I have nothing else to go on because there is no error message displayed... I have switched TB 3 mode to Displayport and USB in BIOS and that did not work. Anyone has any ideas? Much appreciated in advance.

Are there any adapters to do this or ways to do this? I can't seem to find any.

I am buying new monitors, the dell u2414h. Now, while this does have hdmi, I will be connecting multiple monitors together to extend the display from the laptop to give me multiple screens. The problem with this is that it only works if you use displayport and not hdmi, so I need a way to convert the hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

I will primarily be using these monitors with my laptop that has displayport, so that is why I am getting these monitors and that won't be a problem. I will most likely hook up other laptops to the monitors and hdmi is way more common from what I have seen on laptops than displayport and is why I need a way to go from hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

Any ideas? Thanks.

A:Hdmi to Displayport/Mini Displayport

You can't, HDMI does not support daisy chaining in the manner that DisplayPort does and you can't use a simply adapter to go from HDMI to DisplayPort and get the features of DisplayPort.

Hello, I just bought an X1 Carbon Gen 4 and need to hook up 2 external monitors which have VGA, HDMI or DVI ports available. The idea is to have a 3 monitor setup (all three monitors with a resolution of 1920x1080) including the Built-in monitor and the 2 external ones. I have bought the OneLink+ adapter that has the RJ45 and VGA ports (4X90J31060) and am trying to set the whole rig up so that one monitor connects to the VGA port on the adapter and the other monitor is connected through the HDMI port on the laptop. The problem is that I can only seem to get 2 monitors going at a time, either Built-in & HDMI or Built-in & VGA. Before I go and buy more hardware (i.e. dock or MiniDP to HDMI/DVI adaptor), I was wondering if what I am attempting is even possible, and if it is, what I am doing wrong. Thanks to anyone who can answer.

Now I have reverted to older version of the drivers but still experience the issue.

Is there any specific place where i should take a look inside laptop to figure out if my laptop is still repairable? If not, would it be possible to change motherboard? Is that someting i could be able to achive with minimal skills when it comes to such repairs ?

Hi daproof,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
You may need to replace the LCD panel.
You can check on the hardware manual (here on page 63) if you have the tools and skills to change it. You can get the LCD OEM part number here to check online or on service parts center to purchase.
Here is the article guide that can also help.
How to Look Up and Purchase Accessories, Upgrades, and FRU/CRU Replacement Parts
At this point, it is likely a failed lcd backlight as image still is visible onscreen when illuminated but you can try to reseat cables first and check areas you can clean but setting expectation for LCD panel replacement.
I hope this helps answer your query.

enigmaticexo said:

How do you know the TV is detecting the signal if it is displaying a "No Signal" message?

If the TV has more than one input, have you confirmed that the HDMI input from the computer is selected?

According to HP, your computer is an older model that came with either Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

In either case, it is possible that the computer is booting up with a video resolution and/or refresh rate that is incompatible with your TV. You could try booting in Safe Mode and see if you get a usable display. Here are HP's instructions for WIndows Vista:

And for Windows 7:

If that works, you can then experiment with different resolutions and refresh rates. If one of the experiments results in a no signal message, wait up to about 30 seconds without touching any keys or mouse buttons and the computer should revert to the previous settings. The resolution should be set to the native resolution of the TV's screen and the fastest refresh rate possible.

I just purchased an adapter plug that allows me to connect my Lenovo/IBM thinkpad (T420) to my HDTV by plugging the HDMI cord into my TV and the other end to this adapter plug which converts the HDMI cable into a male plug which fits into my display port (there is no HDMI port on this model computer). It worked, but now I can't remove the adapter plug...it's stuck in the laptop display port. I do not know if the problem is caused by the male adapter plug or the female jack in the computer, but they're locked together now.

I have previously read review comments (on these HDMI/display port adapter plugs) mentioning this jamming happening on more than a couple occasions, but I don't recall any resolutions being mentioned except to break off (and destroy) the plug and possibly damage the display port as well. I called Lenovo tech support but they said I'd have to mail the computer to them to get it fixed. I'd prefer avoiding that if possible even though my warranty is still in effect and it would be of no cost to me.....just time lost without a computer.

I'd greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who may be aware of how to resolve this problem (and also how to avoid it happening again) without doing damage to either the plug or especially the computer display port.

Thanks for your consideration in any case....

I have a Lenovo Yoga 920. When I connect a single Dell Monitor through a USB-C to HDMI adapter from j5create, the screen appears to be the same as I swap monitors in and out. However, when I used a j5create adapter to plug two of the same Dell monitors in, they're is a visual difference between the two. I'm not familar enough to know if it's color/contrast/brightness/etc, but am confused as to why two of the exact same monitors would require me to set up a custom color profile to work. Shouldn't it be as straight foward as plugging the identical monitors in and expecting the same visual result between the two?

So I have a Thinkpad T510 with NVIDIA Quadro NVS 3100M with a VGA out and Displayport out. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

For the past few months I have simply just used a VGA cord from the VGA out to the tv and used external speakers for my tv setup.

I recently bought a Displayport to HDMI adapter so I can pass both video and sound to my tv digitally.

Video and sound passthrough works just fine, my laptop picks the tv as a secondary display. But I can`t get it to run at 1080p. Over VGA it automatically set itself to 1920x1080 and never had an issue. Now over HDMI, it picks up at 1360x768 50Hz. NVIDIA control panel recognizes 1920x1080 as native but when I set it to that setting, the screen edges are cut off (top, bottom, left right), they are off the screen. I`ve read this is what is called "overscan", but I`m no television expert. I tried resizing the screen but then another issue became apperent, green dots all over the green like snow, in different positions as time passes.

I have ruled out the new DP to HDMI adapter by pluggging my laptop with the same adapter and hdmi cord to my ASUS VH222H monitor through its own HDMI input, automatically runs at 1080p with sound with none of the above issues.

I have spent a few hours reading through similar topics on this forum and others but most conclude with driver update. Unforunately since Lenovo opted out of Nvidia`s driver program, Im stuck with Lenovo`s driver which is quite old (Sept 2010) so thats off the table. I`ve re... Read more

I am looking at going to a GTX1080 GPU from my current 980, but am having a problem getting information. Currently I am running from HDMI ports over 3 monitors at 1920*1080, and 1 at 4k. The 1080 only has 1 HDMI and 3 displayport 1.4, so I will need new cables. I only have HDMI 2.0 ports on the monitors, so its going to be a conversion job.

Question is, whats the best way to set up? From the 980 I was running straight HDMI leads, but dont know if it is better to run all monitors off HDMI/Displayport cables, or run the 4k off the HDMI. I also have a Vive that needs a port, and again this would be preferable to install directly.

The problem is that info seems to be scarce on the actual capabilities of each port setup. (I.e. resolution, FPs, and the croosover from DP to HDMI). Anyone got any knowledge and can suggest a setup? Thanks in advance.

A:Displayport and HDMI questions

HDMI for one, DisplayPort to HDMI cables or adapters for the other two. There's no benefits to use DisplayPort to HDMI over straight HDMI, but there shouldn't be any negatives either, other then buying the adapters.

Hi All I've got a Helix 2, which I'm happy with. I was thinking of getting a couple of external monitors so I can be more productive when working from home. So there's a mini-HDMI connection on the actual tablet for adding 1 additional monitor - fair enough. On the Pro keyboard there's a handy DisplayPort connector, which I assume is version 1.2 so I can theoretically drive up to 4 additional 1080p monitors. From my limited knowledge of these things, this connector could either be driven by a USB graphics card inside the Pro keyboard or could use the GPU inside the Helix (I believe the latter is the best method for less lag and faster refresh rates). It seems like no one knows exactly what method Lenovo utilises but either way, giving me two different connection options makes lots of sense! However, I'm puzzled by why they opted for a HDMI connection on the tablet dock. This only allows for one external monitor meaning I'd have to plug in a USB graphics card to drive additional monitors. Why is this?

A:HDMI and DisplayPort Question

Ah, it appears to be because the tablet dock was also for the thinkpad 10, which doesn't support DisplayPort. So Lenovo re-used existing kit rather than bring out kit more suited for the Helix 2. Very annoying.

I replaced my monitor with a Dell that has VGA, DVI and DisplayPort. My PC outputs VGA or HDMI, so I'm using an HDMI to DVI cable(previous monitor is VGA and DVI only). My only gripe with this cable is that the DVI end is hard to attach/remove. I can get HDMI-DisplayPort cables or adapters, this would be so much easier to deal with than trying to screw that DVI cable in place, but I need to know if outputting HDMI into the DisplayPort is going to cause any issues with picture quality.

I see either dedicated cables or converter boxes on eBay, converter box would be cheaper and I can use whatever HDMI cable I have on hand.

Hey guys. I'm trying to connect my HP Elitebook 8440p to my Toshiba flatscreen TV using a Displayport to HDMI connector. The video works no problem, but sadly there is no sound

I've put in about 2-3 hours trying to google solutions on my own to no avail. From what I have read, I should see an 'HDMI out' option in my playback devices list, but all I see are 'Speakers / HP IDT High definition audio CODEC' and 'Headphones (RTC) IDT High definition audio CODEC.' I have both show disabled and show disconnected devices enabled.

If I open up my nvidia control panel and select the 'Set up digital audio' option, I have the option to select my TV, but when I hit apply I still get no sound and no additional options appear in my playback devices list.

As far as I can tell all of my drivers are up to date.

A:Displayport->HDMI sound issues.

It's possible that audio over DP isn't supported in your model.

I don't know that it will be shown as "HDMI" as it's not an HDMI port. It could be something like "Digital Audio (HDMI)", but that's just a guess. You can check to see if there are any devices not being displayed. If you right click on the speaker in the taskbar -> playback devices. Right click the white space and select the option for "Show Disconnected Devices" and "Show Disabled Devices".

This is the reverse of what is expected by cable fabricators who have lots of cables and adapters for the opposite configuration, i.e., DP on the videocard and HDMI input on the monitor. There seems to be a uni-directional vs bi-directional issue involved with DP, but I don't quite understand it. Anyway, the uni-directional choices I am seeing are in the wrong direction. On my ThinkCentre M92p which has Windows 7 pro installed I am using a standard monitor from the onboard VGA.
But now I want to run a 2nd display to my LCD TV. So I have a new cable into the onboard displayport and the other end is HDMI into my TV. Nothing showed on the TV (no signal). So I went to the display settings and click on Detect but (Another display not detected) came up. Then I went into BIOS and set up the video to Multiple Displays. Still No Signal.
As far as I know I have the correct drivers for this model from the support downloads. Driver (b2vdo41us14.exe)
I am hope now someone can guide me through what I am doing wrong. And be thankful for any input.

A:Displayport to HDMI Vizio HD TV not working

Have you ensured that the HDTV and the displays are set to recieve a signal from the port you plug into on the devices? HDTV's and displays have onscreen menus that allows you to set the input port.

Hi people - and hopefully Lenovo staff :-) I have a new T440s and having problems connecting my Samsung monitor to it. First, the hardware:- Lenovo ThinkPad T440s, i7-4600U 2.1 GHz, 12 GB RAM, SSD, running Windows 10 Pro 64bit- Samsung SyncMaster S24B350T (VGA/HDMI)- mDisplayPort -> HDMI adapter The problem:When I connect the monitor to the computer to the mDisplayPort via the mDisplayPort/HDMI-adapter and HDMI-cable, nothing happens. Windows native Display Settings dialog's Detect link says "Didn't detect another display".The monitor works fine via VGA-cable. The monitor works fine with my tv set top box via HDMI. The computer works fine with my tv with the mDisplayPort/HDMI-adapter and HDMI-cable. The computer works fine with my work monitors via "pure" mDisplayPort->DisplayPort cable. So - everything works, except said connection to the monitor. I have tried:- Latest Intel HD Graphics driver from Lenovo (version, dated 19/12-2015)- Latest BIOS upgrade (GJET87WW v. 2.37, dated 12/1-2016)- Latest Intel HD Graphics 4400 driver directly from Intel, but I was not allowed to install it. I have to use Lenovo's driver.- Getting the Samsung driver for the monitor from Samsung website, though the "latest" version is also v. 1.0 from 2012... This guy has the same problem, I think: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8-and-8-1/T440s-and-Dell-S2715H/m-p/2210471 Is there a difference in a pc monitor via HDMI and a tv via HDMI? Hi, I just installed my windows 7 (64x) again (after formatting the hard-drive) but now I have a problem with the audio from displayport to hdmi. I can't transfer the voice from laptop to TV anymore. I checked almost everything. Disabled the video and audio cards, set the AMD HDMI output as a default device or even disabled the rest but nothing worked so far. My display: AMD mobility radeon HD 5000 Any suggestions?

A:displayport to hdmi after installing a new windows

Hi @sasan79, Thank you for your inquiry. I grasp that you have formatted the drive and reinstalled Windows 7, but now you do not have audio on the TV.  Previously it was working fine. Have you done all your Windows updates?  Have you run the HP Support Assistant?  Have you run the Windows troubleshooter? Here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Troubleshooting HDMI Display and Sound Issues that may also help. Please let me know the results. Please let me know if this resolves the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution".  To simply say thanks, click the ?Thumbs Up? below!    If you require further assistance let me know and I will gladly do all I can to help.

Can the T460 support using BOTH the mini-Displayport and HDMI ports at the same time to drive two monitors for an extended desktop?

Wondering if anyone else has/had this problem?  I have a Lenovo Twist Ultrabook.  I believe it is also listed as a Thinkpad S230.  It has both a displayport and an HDMI port.  I have the displayport connected to a monitor using a DP-HDMI cable, and the HDMI port connected to an older monitor using an HDMI-DVI cable.  Either one will work on its own, but when both are connected both screens immediately go black. I also tried using an HDMI splitter cable on the HDMI port.  It works, but the display will only show mirror mode - not extended mode. When I look in the BIOS for display settings, it gives me 3 options: the local screen, and then to select either of the ports (but not both!) when docked. Anyone have any ideas? any feedback or suggestions greatly appreciated!

I'm trying to run audio to a stereo receiver over an HDMI cable attached to my computer (T420s) through a DP to HDMI adapter. I have the DisplayPort++ symbol on my computer, so a passive adapter should work. The only playback device listed though is Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD. I've tried installing the Intel Graphics Driver listed on Lenovo's site, hoping it might install the Intel Display Audio driver. It did not seem to. I still have to Intel audio in the device manager. Any ideas on what to do to get audio to my stereo receiver?

I own an HP 8440p with the NVS3100 graphics card. I have tried all suggestions regarding getting the DisplayPort to pass audio through a DP-to-HDMI adapter with no success. I have even tried purchasing multiple adapters in the hopes of findingone that worked, even HP's own pricey adapter.  Can I conclude that it is now settled that the HP 8440p with the discreet NVS3100 (not the integraed Intel Graphics) simply cannot be made to pass audio from the DisplayPort to to an HDMI adpter? If the answer is that it cannot then I will start shopping for a new laptop with a native HDMI and not the troublesome DisplayPort. Thanx, Redlyne

A:Has DisplayPort to HDMI Audio Out Problem Ever Been Solved?

My displayport adaptor to HDMI, when connected to my monitor, cuts the top, bottom and sides off by an inch or two, but the rest is okay. Is this the problem you are having? I've tried a few adaptors, all the same result.
