I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have you checked your power settings? Also either download Speed Fan or Hwmonitor. In order to check your temps. Sometimes you will not see a warning for your laptop over heating. It will just shut it's self down.

Both softwares can be download here at Techspot. Under downloads.

Hey BP

Is there a utility to stop my monitor from turning off after a certain of minutes?

A:How to stop the display from turning off after a certain minutes

I believe that you are refering to the screensaver that clicks in after x amount of minutes.Go to control panel, click on personalisation, click on screen saver.Their you will see a wait till probably ten minutes.Alter it to what you want.I have mine at twenty but the option is yours. This was more for the older type of monitors to prevent a image being burnt into the screen.

Hope thats what you are refering to.

Hi All, A couple of weeks ago we have a strange behavior with our Lenovo Flex 2 Pro. The notebook is turning off at exact 30 minutes, in the BIOS or in Windows this is make no differents. Now i googled a lot and found a lot of the same problem and all replaced the mainboard. I hope offcourse that we don't need to do that because the mainboard is around 350 dollar. Specs of the notebook:Lenovo Flex 2 Pro 80FL (I7-4510U) Already tried:- BIOS updated- BIOS resetted- Intel ME Firmware upgraded- Windows repair - Virusscan + Malware- Monitored the heat of the laptop- Replaced the cooling paste to be sure of the CPU and GPU- Removed a lot of components to test what the problem is (SSD, Audio, SD reader, Battery, CMOS battery) Hope one of you have a solution.

Hi, new here. After searching for information on my problem I could not find a single thread with the same issue.
Having said that, here goes.

I just bought a new TV (RCA RLDED3258A-C) and attempted to connect it to my laptop via HDMI. I have used both the laptop and the cable with other TV's in the past with no problem but when I connect the two the laptop powers off as if the power has been cut. It will not boot when the two are connected and only happens when the TV is on. The laptop will boot into safe mode but it seems that HDMI out is disabled in safe mode so I cannot test it. I have checked and my graphics drivers are current. Hope someone can help! Thanks.

I did not know RCA still built TV's. Maybe something is wrong with it.

Can any one help or send me a picture of the inside the same model to make sure all jumpers on the motherboard are in the right spot. Or if any one else had this problem tell me how you fix it. It does not have HDMI sound icon in the mixer. What I have done:
1. I have looked for disabled devices.
2. Tried looking in sound mixer settings for the default audio.
3. New install and drivers.

hi
i'm going to make this quick before my computer crashes again

basically my taskbar stops responding and i can't bring up the task manager to perform any functions and my apps perform very slowly even though the processor is only working at less than 20%, but if i bring up the task manager before the crash happens i can turn off explorer.exe and have the applications work normally without explorer but my internet does not work any more

i don't know if it's related but recently my firefox browser just keeps crashing and then asking me if i want to restart (it does this about 3-4 time before i can actually use it)

i try to run anti-virus but when the taskbar stops responding everything else stop so i can never get through a scan, so i don't know if it's a virus or something similar, which is why i'm posting it here

please can you help

thanks

A friend of my brother accidentally broke his Laptop the other day, and I'm trying to see if there's anything I can do to repair it. I'm not exactly sure what he did, but when he broke it, it apparently broke the monitor and killed the hard drive. Replacing the hard drive isn't that big of a deal, and he says he doesn't mind using an external monitor for it (though the monitor does still work, though it has a large crack through it now... which you can see here http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo151/Superbark/Photo-0009.jpg ).

Unfortunately, whenever I try to turn on the computer and run some things like diagnostics and whatnot, the computer keeps randomly shutting down. I think the fan is still working (since I can hear it), so I don't think it is overheating or anything (I could be wrong though, but the bottom never feels scolding hot or anything). Here's the strange thing though; whenever I plug in the Laptop and I have the battery in, the computer will turn on just fine (though it will shut down in a couple of minutes, like I mentioned up above). If I try to turn it on when the battery is out, but still plugged into the wall... it won't turn on. If it is not plugged in, but the battery is placed in, it'll turn on (then shut down in a minute or so). If I have both the battery in and have the Laptop plugged into the wall, then I remove the battery... it'll still work, but still shut down again in a few minutes. What'... Read more

Hi,

I know this has been asked a million times on the web already but its seriouslly annoying me now.

Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) keeps turning the monitor off after 15 Mins of in-activity.

However - before it does that at 14 Mins and 30 Seconds it sorta does a quick flash - then at exactlly 15 mins does the turning off.

All the power options are set to Never. (I have even created my own power plan for this)

I have never had this problem on this PC before - this is a new install - and since then it has been doing this.

(That makes me reluctant to think its the BIOS or Video Card)

Any ideas would be most welcome?

Thank you in advance.

Timez

A:Monitor keeps turning off after 15 Minutes(Power Options are on Never)

Hi I think it might be your monitor's setting. Also check in the monitor's menu if you have any power saving options enabled.

First of all:
1. This computer has NO VIRUSES and NO WAREZ and NO INTERNET EXPOSURE.
2. This is not a laptop.
3. My Brother from Michigan sent it to me by mail, and I am guessing that is the reason this computer is so ****ed up.

Ok, well this is a very expensive computer (would be able to play half life 2). And well, after my brother sent me it (by mail), it seems to act like a god damn 80 GB Ipod (low battery life in under 1 hour etc.....). But of course, I plug in the device with all sorts of computer cables, and the same results happen. After a few minutes the god damn computer turns off!

When I set it to 115 V this happens!
(BUT I HEAR A REPETITIOUS BEEPING NOISE)

So I set it to 230 V and well the BEEPING miraculously disappears! But then the monitor doesn't turn on.

*****!!!!!!! I am so mad!!!!!! And I am not a computer genius.

PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME WHY HE SENT IT BY EMAIL. IT WAS MY REQUEST and WELL I WAS SUCH A DUMB*** FOR TELLING HIM TO DO THAT.

Can somebody help me resolve this?
Do I need a new powerbox?

Hi, I have this problem, I would like to get help with.
When i plug my pc to led monitor using hdmi cable, and start to watch netflix or dvd disc movies, monitor keeps turning on and off randomly. The movie is going right as i hear the sound. But display keeps turning once, pause a few seconds, then turns off and on in a row, then it stops and goes again.
But, when i play a game, it goes well without a hitch, not a single turn in black. When I switch cable, it's the same thing. I tried changing res or refresh rate - same. Tried switching hdmi cables - same. Games works well, movies randomly turns monitor on and off.
And when I use my old DVI-I cable it works like a charm both ways.
Can Somebody tell me what is going on? Is my HDMI port failing? But what about games running like there's no problem.
My PC SETUP:
Mon - Samsung S27D390 1920x1080 60Hz

ASRock 770 Extreme 3

AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE

Palit GeForce 650 Ti Boost 2GB (384.76 drv)

Hello all,
Since I got my new GPU, I have been having a problem with my second display. When I want to turn it on(through Catalyst) as an extention to my main dispaly, it does turn on, but after about 5-10 minutes the colors turn negative and I have to disable and re-enable it in order for it to get back normal again. My GPU is a Sapphire Radeon HD7850 OC, and the second monitor is connected through HDMI. Last time I checked my drivers where up to date. Anyone knows why this happens and how to fix it ?

Thank you in advance!

A:Second Monitor turning negative(HDMI)

If it has two HDMI ports, try the other one.

Try another HDMI cable.

If still an issue after that, if that monitor has a different connection other than HDMI, I would try using it to verify it's not a an overall monitor issue and just HDMI failure, port on the monitor or the video card, either way, not reasonably fixed.

HDMI has me annoyed on my own rig, rather DVI, but only one on my 7950.

Could try underclocking or normal clocking in Catalyst also, just in case that OC has caused the problem.

I have recently done a system restore to a factory state. After reinstalling all of the programs I noticed that right after restarting my computer it actually is pretty fast, which can be especially seen by rght clicking on desktop or opening folders. However, few minutes after running it suddenly slows down simple things like right clicking on the desktop make me wait few seconds. Right now my computer has been running for few minutes already and I can see the text lagging a little as I type.
I have Avast, and I did a quick scan with malwarebytes just to make sure, but it didn't detect anything.
When I check the task manager I noticed that before it starts lagging, the CPU is below 10% if im not doing anything and even when when using some programs its pretty much always below 60%, however after it starts lagging, it jumps to 100% if I do as simple things as right click. I disabled most start up programs, but it didn't help. Any help would be appreciated.

***UPDATE***
I began to suspect overheating and so I decided to clean out the fan. So far no problems with lag anymore. ^^

Is there a way to change settings so that I won't need to take out the VGA every time?

I'm struggling to connect my Vostro 3560 notebook to a projector. I've managed to make it work after reinstalling the video drivers, but the connection lasted only for 20 minutes and went black suddenly. Since then I see "no signal" on the beamer and cannot make it work again.

I'm using official video drivers from following Dell's website:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/vostro-3560/drivers/advanced

I updated the BIOS.

The projector is fine, worked yesterday for several hours on VGA.

The cable is fine, worked on my wife's Dell notebook for at least 1 hour.

My power options are probably fine, because everything is set to "highest performance".

I'm suspecting the problem in over-heating of the notebook, but even after a longer break, when notebook gets all cooled down, it still won't connect.

I have an Acer Aspire ast180-ud400b desktop. I recently went on vacation and turned off my computer and unplugged everything to try and save some money on the energy bill while I was gone. I was only gone a little less than a week and when I came back and plugged everything in, the computer would not turn on. I think it may be the PSU but I am out of my element here and don't really know what it could be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Acer not turning on

By "it doesn't turn on", do you mean that nothing at all is turning on? No fans, no hard drive, no CD Rom activity...etc?

Assuming that the outlet where your computer is plugged into is working, and the power strip/surge protector that is being used is working, and the cords and connections are all intact....

..your power supply would usually be the first thing to suspect when you are getting no power at all into your computer. You could take your computer to a shop to test your power supply, or you could swap a "known good" unit to see what happens. Those are the two usual steps taken to troubleshoot a bad PSU.

Hope that helps.

hey

i've got a bit of a problem with my girlfriends acer travelmate 2424. In the last two weeks it has been turning off from time to time. 20-30 minutes after being turned on it just turns off without any notice. It happens while running on battery power or the main power supply.

If the laptop is turned back on immediately after turning off, it turns off during boot-up.

This morning when she's turned the computer on, she got the message:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM"

Now I'm trying to use recovery console on the win XP CD, but it keeps turning off before I get to the recovery console.

My idea is that maybe the cpu is overheating because of dirt inside the fan or something like that. Do you think that is a likely reason for the turning off problem?

I'm not sure weather I should try to open it up and try to clean it, because if it's not because of the dirt, but because of some hardware failure, then the warranty probably won't cover after I've opened it up. The laptop is almost two years old, and the warranty is 2 years.

Can you say anything about weather it's more likely that heating is causing this problem or weather you think it's hardware failure?

A:Acer travelmate laptop keeps turning off

Bet on a hard drive failure, or memory failure, or a very dirty system.
Does your girlfriend have a cat or a dog... pet hair can really gag the works on a laptop. I would get a couple of cans of Dust Off or other good canned cleaner gas, and clean out all the air channels, as well as the CPU fan thoroughly.
Then run the free MemTest86 for four hours or 7 passes, whichever is longer... if it will run that long.
Figger out the hard drive brand and model, then go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer (unless it is a Toshiba, which has no drive fitness test) and run the drive tests that you find. If it failes the SMART test, get another drive.

Recently, I bought a new computer (my first ever desktop one!) and set it up. While this is my first desktop, I still know how to set it up, so I'm 99% certain that it's not a problem with cables or anything. First of all, all specs are on http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/acer-predator-g5900-1-refurbished-desktop-pc-08623500-pdt.html. It's refurbished, so I figure that's probably the problem. Basically, when I try to turn it on, the fan goes for about half a second then cuts out, and this repeats about every 10 seconds ad infinitum. Replacing the three-pronged kettle lead with a different, visually identical power cable had the same results. Any ideas, or should I just send it back for repair?

Ok so i'm gonna tell you the whole story so that you'll know everything needed , and answer me instantly without asking questions that you'd normally do with the first reply.
I had some very severe problems with FPS while playing League of Legends. Pretty unusual , very low , and 15~ FPS.So it appears that the problem is throttling. Temperatures reached 95-100 C while playing.Clock speed went to 0.8 from the 2.7 it normally should be.Pretty huge i (assume?). Then a friend explained to me the whole deal with CPU throttling.(Laptop is ~3 years old) I never actually opened it since the day i bought it.So he told me to open it up (sidenote , watch this video and you'll understand why i wouldn't even try : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maoRU9NhyJo ) and clean every possible dust buildup that there is , including inside the fan , and to apply a good-quality thermal paste to CPU/GPU.And so I did it.In case you wanna know which thermal paste i used , its Arctic MX-4.An other thing i missed to tell you is that before i opened up the laptop , fan was not even working. At all.And i think it really should have cuz there wasnt a huge dust buildup or something like that.ok so after that i obviously tested the FPS i'd get.it was still the same as before with 5 C diffrence.nothing in FPS tho.then after playing and other game , the fan decided it was time to actually work.and when it did i literally felt vibrating the whole laptop.and this time from the left side , istead of just being hot ... or a function key combination ( no idea )
and I dont have a manual for this so I am not able to read where this switch might be
is there anyone there with this laptop that might tell me where it is, or what the function key combination might be, in order that I may turn on the network capability again?

Hello. I just bought an Acer Aspire Z1-622 'All-in-One' PC hoping to add it to my entertainment system (ie: television, amplifier, etc). The Acer Aspire Z1-622 comes with an HDMI port, but, the manual available for that PC is not very clear if that HDMI port can/should be used as an input port (to connect the video output of a computer) or as an output port (to connect the video output of the Acer Aspire Z1-622 to a television). I have read as many of the messages in the Acer Community as I could and found a lot of confusing suggestions as to what can and cannot be done with the HDMI port and how to use the HDMI port with an external monitor/television, but nothing about the Acer Aspire Z1-622. Could someone with the appropriate knowledge of the Acer Aspire Z1-622 enlighten me on the purpose of the HDMI port on the Acer Aspire Z1-622. Thanks.

Generally, if there is only 1 HDMI port on one of our all-in-one systems, it is an input port. I would like to confirm this though. Can you please provide the first 10 digits of your serial number so I can clarify?

trying to fix an issue for a friends laptop.

they have upgraded to windows 7 64 bit home premium from windows vista 64 bit home premium.

All the drivers have been installed, both from Acers website and from uninstalling them and allowing windows updates to update them.

When an hdmi cable is plugged in to the tv + the laptop the laptop makes a noise and acts as if the picture is trying to duplicate on to the tv. the tv just gives a no signal message. there is also no audio getting thru to the tv either. i have tried changing the duplicate/extend/main monitor options but nothing changes. fn + f5 also acts like the laptop is trying to jump the image on to the tv buts it never appears

the laptop has an intel chipset, uding the intel gaphics options it detects the tv. the tv is also detected in the windows display settings.

any ideas of something else i can try?

When you plug the hdmi from the laptop to the tv an icon should automatically show up in the notification area. The settings should be located there.

Hello guys,
I have an Acer 4830tg with an HDMI port. In the past I've used it to connect to my tv, but it stopped working yesterday ( the tv shows "no signal") and my laptop didn't detect the TV. However, when I connect it to another TV it worked perfectly, so i guess is not the cable. The TV in other hand, also work normally when I connect it with my PS3, so the tv is fine i think. I already try to uninstall graphic card, sound card and reinstall it but no avail. The only interesting thing i found is when i restart my laptop with hdmi cord plugged in, it freeze on acer logo. Picture below :

-Boot :
then freeze :
I'm really confused... Any input is appreciated ... Sorry for my bad english Thx

A:Acer 4830 TG not recognize TV ( HDMI)

Are you using the same HDMI port with the PS3 and that works? If so, don't know, but if nothing works on that HDMI port in particular, unplug the TV for one minute and then plug it back in and see if it works then.

Otherwise its something with the laptop and since it just stopped working, I would try a system restore to a few days previous or if some major change is listed, just prior to that.

You may have the resolution set too high, try lowering it and see what happens. As for the laptop screen going black, there are a few options you can choose when you have multiple displays: laptop only, laptop and tv, tv only etc. To cycle between them try the function key (Fn) and F5 at the same time.

Hope this helps

Brightness of my acer laptop dims just after 2 minutes of inactivity regardless of any settings which I keep in the power settings. The problem has started to occur all of a sudden. The screen gets dim and even if I move my finger onto the touch pad, the brightness does not increase unless any keyboard button is pressed. Earlier the brightness used to increase as soon as I touch the touch pad. This is very annoying. Please help me with this. The windows version of my laptop is windows 7 and my laptop is one year old.

Are you using this on battery or plugged in when it happens? If you look at settings in "Power Options" in Control panel, note they are different for battery and plugged in.
Do you know the keys to pres to make screen brighter or dimmer incidentally on that laptop?

Click on Start then Run, type msconfig and press Enter.
Click on the Startup tab, record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button.
Reboot and see if it runs normal.
If yes then use msconfig to enable several items at a time till you find the culprit.

If no, boot to Safe Mode again, start msconfig and click on the Services tab.
Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box, record what is currently starting then click the Disable All button.
Again, do a regular boot, see if it runs normal.
If yes then use msconfig to enable services till you find the culprit.

Once you've found the culprit, uninstall it or find out how to eliminate it from your system.
Simply disabling it in msconfig is a temporary fix at best.
Enable everything else you disabled.

I have a 2006 Acer Aspire 5920 laptop. It came with Windows Vista installed, has 2 GB RAM, 20 GB HDD in 2 partitions,

I've mainly used the computer for basics like web surfing, using Office, email and some streaming video.  When it was newer, my son played games with it online and, being what he thought was pretty computer-savvy at the time, would often change settings and so forth.  So while I was pretty careful, who knows what he did when I wasn't around?

Relatively recently, I had the screen replaced when (I could be remembering this incorrectly) the backlight burned out.  That was about 1-1/2 years ago.

I work for a university and faculty/staff members can get Windows and MS Office for $10-$15, so last December, I bought the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7.  Of course, when I tried to install it, I found out that the upgrade was for Windows Professional and my computer had Home and Office.  The same person who replaced the screen for me (and IT guy from work) brought me a copy of Windows Vista Professional to install instead of the Home and Office (don't ask - I didn't).  We moved all of my data files off the computer, installed Windows Vista Pro, installed the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. and it seemed to work.

However, since then, the computer has been slowly, how should i say this, degrading as far as speed goes.  Web pages load more slowly.  Documents open more slowly.  Firefox crashes much more fre... Read more

Hey guys.

I have the X1200 and ive tried to hook up the PC to my 32 inch LG LCD TV via HDMI. I cannot get a picture at all on the TV, and I'm assuming the computer is not even sending a signal. If anyone knows how to change the settings or update my Nvidia drivers to where i can change the settings it would be great. I've looked through the display settings and my video cards control panel, and so far no luck.
