Windows 8.1 Mailbox Go-To functions

Q: Windows 8.1 Mailbox Go-To functions

I have been using 8.1 Mailbox now since the update, but strangely the go-to function within the e-mail text has stopped working. Anything outside the text seems to work well, but even though highlighted the information within the text frame is inactive.

Would welcome any information on how to correct this.

Have since discovered these go-to functions are called Hyperlinks and the best way of reactivating them is the deletion of certain registry keys. That is Run: Regedit HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Classes\CLSID. Deletion of those keys beginning 8---. I have done this but the Hyperlinks still don't work, do I delete all the items in this class?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyibe,
We have a hydride infrastructure, with E2016 onpremise and O365 (Exchange, teams...). On both sites we have the same users and separate created mailboxes.
We are migrating mailboxes from Ex2016 to O365 in phases to remove E2016.
Users on both sites have the same mailbox name. Example: E2016 [email protected] and O365 mailbox [email protected]
When we migrate a user's mailbox to O365 and from ExchangeOnline we send an email to a non-migrated user, the email reaches the existing mailbox in O365, not the onpremise mailbox.
An alias has been created for non-migrated users in O365, marking themselves as main and we have tried to delete the default email address given by the username. But even if the latter is deleted, the deleted email address always appears, so the email always
reaches O365 and not E2016.

Is there any way that when a user with a migrated O365 mailbox sends an email to a user with a mailbox in E2016 onpremise, the email does not go to the O365 mailbox and to the onpremise mailbox?
What would be the solution to keep the default username (for teams solutions, etc) and to be able to modify the email in O365?
Thank you

Windows 2000......verizon with MSN ISP

I turn the computer on.....the start screen has three IDs to choose from.
If any one of those IDs has an msn or hotmail mailbox then the start screen shows how many unread messages are in that person's inbox.
I have several hotmail mailboxes and an msn mailbox.
the start screen says --[under my ID icon]--that i have unread messages.
I have been through all my mailboxes and can't find any UNREAD mail.
Is there some trick I can use to find WHICH mailbox the start screen is ..."Reading"?

I'm running a Norwegian version of Windows 7 so I'm not 100% sure what the names are in English, but Ill try to explain.

I'm trying to install Office (tried both 2007 and 2010 verison) and they both give me the same error message. When I google the error message it says I need to update my frameworks. Then, when I try to download the latest it tells me I have to do it manualy from the "Turn Windows functions on and off" menu.

Problem is, when I open that dialog box it says: "Loading list" and then it dissapears but nothing new comes up. So there I am with an open window with no functions to do anything with.

And yes, I have run Win Update and there's nothing new I can download.

Here's the link for the error message: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926804

Hello. I don't even know for sure how to described this problem. It started with the av2009, which i was able to successfully remove. then, I suppose it had an affect on my AVG Anti-Virus Free program, because I started getting a popup for the Resident Shield Alert. I got rid of that through Microsoft's tech support via telephone, by pcsafety scan and by installing and running SuperAntiSpyware program, but somehow I now have lost the ability for certain functions. The first thing I noticed was that I can no longer view "smilies" in emails, nor can I see them when I send them (only the box with the x appears instead). Then I noticed that any emails I receive with pictures showed the box with the x wherever pictures or banners should be. Then I noticed the same thing on some websites; the box or just that some of the page was not able to completely download. I also noticed that when I go onto a website like facebook, I can no longer easily send messages or view my inbox or use the applications on the site. The list is expanding as we speak, and whereas I was trying to resolve these issues while I had Microsoft on the phone, POOF! Just as usual, I suddenly get disconnected when they realize they either made a mistake or just can't figure out the problem. Oh well. So, I came here in the hopes of some insight. Thanks in advance!!!

I recently installed XP Professional on my Dell Dimension 3000 computer. It has 512 ram, 3.0 with H/T . After uninstalling an application and then clicking start then search it goes to a Window search page that I have never seen before. I then scroll down to the bottom of the page and use the search companion to do the search. The search companion page is what I am familiar with from using my previous XP Home system. I type in the search words and then start the search. It will find what I am looking for but then continues scanning and scanning and will not stop even after 1 hour of searching.

Is there anyway to stop it from searching, even after finding the items without manually pressing the stop button. Also is there a way to make it go straight to the Search Companion page instead of the Windows search page and then having to scroll to the bottom to use Search companion anyway.

A:Windows search functions

Hi snagel,

When you installed XP Pro, was it an upgrade from a previous Windows operating system or a fresh install?

Did I understand correctly that this started after you uninstalled an application? What did you uninstall and how did you uninstall it?

If these problems followed the deinstallation of an application, please see if there is a restore point you can go back to that just precedes this de-installation. If you've never done this, go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore
Select the option to Return my computer to an earlier restore point and click on next. Those dates with a restore point (or several restore points) will be highlighted. Select one of these which occurred before the problem started and follow the prompts. If this does not solve the problem, you can undo this process by going to System Restore as instructed above and selecting the option to undo the change.

Hi, this is new for me, so if this thread should be somewhere else or something, please let me know.

I have a Dell Vostro 1500. It had many, many viruses, so I completely redownloaded the Operating System, and attepted to redownload device drivers, diagnostics, and utilities that came with the Vostro. But despite my efforts, a lot of stuff is missing. For example, it says that I have absolutely no sound systems.

What do I do? Please help me. I really should've asked for advise before doing anything major, but it's too late now.

Oh, also, I'm on my desktop, which is on Vista. I'm also having trouble figuring out how to reconnect back to my wireless. Help, please.

Where did you try downloading the drivers from? This is the proper page for your model.

I noticed that Windows Update is available both by clicking a Tile and by launching IE on the Desktop and then selecting Windows Update.

What I found disturbing is that when I selected it using the Tile, it said there were no updates available. That bothered me because I did that right after install and was hoping that WU would find some device drivers.

So, I opened the Desktop and used IE to run WU from there -- and it found a bunch of Updates.

Shouldn't they show the same updates?

To Mods: Sorry -- posted this in the wrong section. Please move this to Windows Updates and Activation. thanks

Almost certainly you have lost the Video Card drivers.

Reload the drivers for your card (or motherboard chipset if "on-board video") and all should be fine.

like cut and paste. Basically, I have half a terabyte of stuff to extract files from. I need the .doc and the .mp3 files from. I did a search with microsofts search in Winxp, but many files could not be copied and pasted into a folder that was on a hard drive for good files.

I kept getting the error "cannot read from source" and all the other crap when you try to cut and paste from the search function. I have tried google's search, but no cutting the files. They are scattered all over, not in just one directory.

If anyone knows of something that works, I would be most grateful.

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum so a big hello! I'm a big fan of Windows 7 and suspect I'll be using it for several years to come.

I'll try and make a complete post in the hope that others find this thread (maybe via Google etc) in future and it helps with them. I Googled for problems regarding the left alt functions not working properly on a Windows 7 keyboard but couldn't find anything that fit the bill.

I'm using the latest version of Windows 7 home 64 bit with all updates applied. It's on a laptop. There's a separate numpad on this keyboard.

I've opened up the on-screen keyboard, and when I press the right alt button, the European letters with an accent (such as ?) appear. When I press the left all button, the on-screen keyboard shows I'm pressing the left alt button nothing happens. All the keys apparently stay the same.

It appears that I've inadvertently activated some kind of function that stops my left alt button working properly, but the hardware button itself is working fine.

This problem appears in programs such as video games and photoshop. I've checked for sticky keys and they are not activated.

Please help! I'd like not to lose any more characters in Path of Exile Hardcore because of some insanely bizarre Windows 7 keyboard quirk.

Thanks! =)

Hi ... please forgive me in advance if this has been addressed.
I have a T450s (Serial Number (********, Machine Type Model 20BXCTO1WW), running Windows 10 and am having ongoing problems with browsers and other windows functions randomly (or so it seems) freezing for 5-10 minutes. Seems to be happening for different reasons; sometimes using up too much memory, other times not. Usually use Firefox, but once that freezes, can't use Chrome, Edge or anything else, or Cortana for that matter. Doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason to it, but happens multiple times a day. Not sure what else to add, but would love some help.
Tried a clean boot and a few others things I found, but nothing worked yet. Wondering if all drivers are properly updated, or graphic card needs to be replaced, but not sure about those things.  Thanks for any help!

Believe I have a virus as my laptop is slow booting, will not do MS Updates, Security Essentials will not update, Mal. Software remover stops at 52 files, and disc defragmentor does not work.  Also noted that if I use the laptop on line to download anti virus files that it sometimes redirect to an unsecure site according to WOT in Firefox.
Have ran Security Essentials with nothing, my Malwarebytes pro will not function except through Chemealeon and negative results, MacAfee Stinger negative results, Tdsskiller negative results, EEK removed two Trojans still have problem.  This one is tuff to find.  Help would be appreciated.

I first noticed my Windows 7 Home Premium has stopped working correctly a few days ago when I'd startup IE11 and no pages would load. It tried, but nothing happened. It was as if it was being blocked from loading. Firefox and Chrome both worked, so it wasn't a connection issue. Then I tried to access Windows System and Update from the control panel and neither would launch. Programs launch fine, but some Windows applications won't launch at all. I thought I might have a virus, so I performed full scans with McAfee and MalwareBytes in normal mode and safe mode. MalwareBytes found a few registry key issues, but eliminating them didn't solve my Windows issue.

Then tonight, I noticed the message "Windows 7 Build 7601 Windows Not Genuine" in the lower right hand corner of my desktop. I searched these forums and found this older thread.
On latest update getting Build 7601 Windows not Genuine

I followed the instructions and it did eliminate the message on my desktop, but still many control panel functions remain inaccessible.

I tried restoring my system to Dec 1, 2013 and that didn't solve the problem either, so I undid the restore back to Dec 21, 2013 in order to get the various updates to Windows back. I've been trying to force a Windows Update but have been unable to do so, since I can't launch Windows Update from the control panel, the start menu or anywhere.

I have a very strange problem on my pc and I have no idea what is going on. This is how it went:
I'm from Holland so I'm sorry for the wrong use of grammar etc.

1. Windows Mediaplayer suddenly couldn't play a lot of videos anymore.

2. In programs like Cubase 5, plugings were missing.

3. I installed VLC player. Video's worked again but since this moment the sound on my pc is gone.

4. I've already set the system back to date's like 15 March when everything was fine, but this doesn't help.

5. In fact, it made it worse. Now all the flash plugins in sites worked really bad. Watching a video on youtube is impossible.
I've already installed the latest flash and shockwave players but nothing helps.
Now I have no idea what to do, I would be very thankful if someone could help.

Okay, so I just recently installed my Windows 8.1 Update 1 OS to my PC. It's been going great, most of my favorite apps and games installed and worked perfectly. But I've been getting this bug rather frequently, but don't know from where it all begins.

The OS functions normally at first, but then after I switch from a few metro apps to the desktop, and then back, I lose all control with corner functions. What I mean to say is, the task switcher charms, or the charms bar, or the start button or actually even the ability to close the app by pushing it down... nothing seems to work. The app functions normally and I can use my keyboard to Alt+Tab out of the mess, but this keeps happening.

The only way I can recover from this is by restarting, but then, it's just a temporary solution. I'd like to know if this is happening to any others here? And if yes, anybody pondered on why? I'm ready to send in any logs, if created to find out what is the root cause to this. Please do help out!

Thank you,

A:Windows 7 + Quickbooks 2009 Pro + payroll functions

Hi Warden77,
After searching from the Intuit QuickBooks website, I find that Intuit QuickBooks 2009 is not fully compatible with Windows 7. The only version of QuickBooks that is compatible with Windows 7 is QuickBooks 2010. To fix the compatibility issue, Intuit’s Technical support suggests to upgrade to QuickBooks 2010. For more information, you may check the following link:
Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

I also would like to suggest you try to run QuickBooks 2009 under Windows Vista Compatibility Mode.
1. Right-click the .exe file of the QuickBooks 2009 and choose Properties.
2. Click the "Compatibility" tab.
3. Please check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)".
4. Select "Run this program as an administrator" option under the Privilege Level.
5. Click Apply, click OK.

Awhile ago my computer was infected with malware that appeared as a chrome extension called Dealz. Initially, I tried a few ways of deleting it like malwarebytes and adw, but neither of these detected it. I searched for the extension in my files and deleted it manually but it would always reinstall itself. I also tried reinstalling Chrome and Firefox but the malware would install right along with it.
I got very busy with a new job and left it. This was a mistake and the problem has gotten worse. Web pages will often load slowly and I see that it is running through a proxy. I have tried disabling proxies but I have been blocked from administration access. I have also tried locating errors in my registry but have also been locked out of admin access to do anything on there (don't worry, I didn't change anything on my registry!!). I decided it was time I stopped trying to do this on my own and look for professional help. Any help would be appreciated!

I am still having problems with PC freezing up at various times. I did receive help from NavyLCDR and AndreTen, but I am wondering if that the Windows 10 upgrade coming at the end of July will reset things and fix my problem or will it save all the incorrect settings?
My PC just freezes at odd times usually when I am on the Internet and on shutdown I get the notice: "Task Host window is stopping background tasks" The other thing I have recently noticed my modem is going crazy when this happens, as if it were trying to download a massive amount of data. Once I restart my PC it may work for hours or may only work for 15 minutes without a restart.
I understand the coming upgrade will have some features like Windows 8.1 which I really liked.
I am not that savvy when it comes to software function so I need a lot of help, although way back when I worked for companies that did work for IBM, RCA Sarnoff Labs, Bell Labs. I learned all about chip processing and hardware but nothing about the software.
What A Pity That !!
Anyway should I wait and see if the upgrade helps ?.............Logman

From engiineering win7 SSD - Q&A doc: Be default, Windows 7 will disable Superfetch, ReadyBoost, as well as boot and appli cation launch prefetching on SSDs with good random read, random write and flush performance . These technologies were all designed to improve performance on traditional HDDs, where ran dom read performance could easily be a major bottleneck. See the FAQ section for more details . How do you check if readyBoot, prefetch, super fetch etc are disabled for optimum performance of SSD? any help gratefully appreciated as i am curious if i'm getting the best performance from windows 7  and SSD? thanks

A:How To check if SSD and TRIM have all windows 7 functions working?

The value 3  for the PrefetchParameters which means that prefetching is enabled for application launch and boot. Now, I doubt your SSD drvie is not recongized as SSD. You can try to check if the SSD has been properly detected by looking in Disk Defragmenter. 1)Open Disk Defragmenter 2)Click the Configure schedule button 3)Click the Select disks button
If the disk is missing from the list, then it has been detected as an SSD and will not be automatically defragmented. In that case, you can try to modify those registry to disable the Superfetch, Prefetcher functions.Good luck!John

I was asked by my helper to transfer this topic to this forum from the Windows 7 forum.  I cannot access any admin or control functions on my daughter's Toshiba laptop.  I cannot uninstall programs since I get the message that there are no programs installed on this computer.  I cannot delete anything or empty the Recycle bin.  When I click on the Start button, there are no programs listed.  When I attempt to access any other functions in Control Panel, I get the message that the "Class is not Registered" or Program for that function not found.
The other unusual issue is that I'm using almost 3 GB of RAM and I haven't opened any programs yet (intentionally).
I've downloaded and run these programs and posted their logs to the Windows 7 forum: Screen317 Security Check, MiniToolBox, AdwCleaner, Junkware Removal Tool, and Malwarebytes Anti-malware Free.  There does not appear to be any change in the performance of the computer after doing this.
I'm at a loss what to do.  Any help is appreciated.

Hello Everyone o/ UPDATED SEE BELOW!!!

I have had a 27" ASUS monitor and 2 tv's (32" and 55") hooked up to my pc. Today I replaced the 32" tv with another 27" ASUS monitor. After the installation, there were MANY problems with my PC. Please read details below. I did not get to do much troubleshooting because I had to leave for work, I would like to get some ideas now and I will update this post after I get home tonight.

INSTALLATION: (how the monitor was installed)
-PC was left on (ooops)
-32" tv was turned off and unplugged from PC
-Monitor cables installed to PC in order: Power (wall), DVI.
-Monitor cables installed to monitor in order: Power, DVI, sound.
-Monitor cable installed to PC: Sound (used double headphone jack to share sound with other monitor ooops)
-Verified sound still worked on original monitor
-New Monitor did not work, restart>> See below for errors after restart.
-New Monitor works 4.0

I know I made some mistakes and this is not the proper way to install a monitor, I was in a hurry. I'm posting these steps to see if this could be the cause of my issues, not so you can bash me for being an idiot, so please don't, although I do deserve it.

ERRORS: What happened.
-First and most noticably, Windows was very different. It looked as if it was an old version of Windows. The normal circle start button was replaced with a grey, square button that said START. The taskbar was also grey and square, not blue as usual. D... Read more

When we perform following operation on Win 7
Scenario 1
(9.1*10^ - 31*3*10^8) =
we can see the equation getting formed in following way:

what we see on the screen is this
(9.1*(10- 31*3*10^8))
and result on = comes to following

I would like to know on pressing - sign after ^ windows seems to replace the ^ operation with - operation. And when it does that it fails to compute the 9.1*10. To explain, if you execute same math equation with ^ sign i.e. as below:
Scenario 2
(9.1*10 - 31*3*10^8) =
window shows result as 91 the moment you input - operation in sequence.

I predict the same behavior even for the equation where user inputs - sign immediately followed by ^ sign. If window is replacing the - operation with ^ then logically it should do the same what I have explained above in Scenario 2.

Not sure what different logic windows is applying here. When I try to execute same logic on JEP Parser (Jep Console - DJep/JEP Java Math Expression Parser) this is what JEP gives as result:
JEP > (9.1*10 - 31*3*10^8)

It seems there is a bug in the way Windows 7 replaces operation but forgets to execute its preceding operation, even though the precedence of previous operation is HIGH as compared immediate next operation.

Let me know if any one observed similar issue and what could be the correct way of implementation here.

Thanks in advance.

A:Windows 7 Calculator - Question on the logic for executing functions

Hi Abdul and welcome to W7 Forums

I've had a look at this and what I think is happening is this:

Normally, operators function in line with the normal hierachial preference (unitary sign, power, multiply and divide, plus and minus) unless the sequence is overridden by the use of parentheses (). A sum is evaluated as it is inputted so long as the hierachial level of each operator is the same or lower than the preceding one. However, when an operator of higher precedence is inputted, things change. In that case, the previous operator is not executed until after the current operation. Let's use an example:

A * B ^ C

With this, A is multiplied by the result of B risen to the power of C. It is not the result of A multiplied by B and then risen to the power of C. To achieve this, the first term needs to be enclosed in parantheses like this:

( A * B ) ^ C

Now, let's assume you made a mistake and that you really wanted to input a minus sign instead of the power. So you enter the following:

A * B ^ - C

The first term is still waiting for the outcome of the second term before it is executed, even if the operator of that term is corrected from one of higher precedence to an equal or lower one.

This is what I think is happening with your equation. You are wanting to raise B to a negative power of C, but instead are inadvertently changing the operator as described above. The correct operation can be done in two ways.

First of all, enclose - C in parentheses, so you get... Read more

In outline I think this question is, how do I upgrade from XP to Win7 without permissions problems?

I would like to think that I am a reasonably sophisticated PC user but have experience with Windows 3, 95, NT, 2000 and XP. I am having a significant number of problems with Windows 7 and I think they are mostly permissions related. I upgraded a laptop to Windows 7 but it had a large number of licensed applications on the previous windows XP load and so I created a dual boot because I did not have confidence in the Windows 7 virtual XP machine. This scepticism seems to be valid as already it seems that Nero, Matlab, Dragon, and Acronis are not Windows 7 compatible.

The problem I would like to solve is that many windows functions do not seem to work in Windows 7. For example, adding or deleting folders to libraries works only until the machine is restarted. Programmes hang frequently for a few seconds as if they are accessing online resources. UAC requests access for most programmes and many files.

I have taken ownership of all the data files imported from the XP load. If I take ownership of the XP profiles then XP fails to start. The Win7 profiles were created at the time of Win7 install, but although the accounts have administrative privileges it seems that the win7 practice of demoting users means that basic functions fail to work. A specific example follows:

Within Windows picture viewer there is an option on right click to set as desktop background. The... Read more

A:Windows functions that worked in XP fail in Win7 - permissions?

I turn UAC all the way down. Also since I only have one account other than the built in Admin account, I used the Take Ownership context menu utility(see Tutorials section) to take ownership of the entire Program Files folder. Now and then a program is a stickler so I run it in compatibility mode or As Administrator. But you should not need to do that with most.

First thing I would try is move the UAC slider all the way to Never Notify.

A few really touchy programs you may have to install using compatibility mode. But for the most part I was able to use the utilities I've been using for years under W7.

Hi All,
Been pulling my hair out for months working with this OS and MDT. I'm creating a master image (Golden) on a virtual machine and when the software for our organization is installed, and a test user logs into the Virtual machine for the first time, Cortana and search are disabled. Logs also show errors with initializing "Search". Here are my image build steps:
-Install OS, log into machine with default Administrator account
-Create a local administrator account. Log off of "built-In" admin account.
-Log in with "new" local administrator account.
-Install updates. Rename and join computer to domain
-Log into VM with a default domain account (Used to customize apps for domain users). Install and configure apps.
-Log off domain account. Log in with "new" local admin account
-Copy domain user account profile to the "Default" profile. Use regedit to load "Default" hive. Remove references of domain account"
-Remove domain account SID and user folder.
-Remove VM from domain
-Sysprep, and Shutdown.
When I use a domain joined account to log into the VM, Cortana and Search is disabled. When I log into the machine as the newly created "Admin" account. Search and Cortana work as expected. For some reason it seems to be permissions related to the "Apps" folder, but Im not sure. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If I could get some help on this I'd be much obliged - my computer is acting up pretty weirdly.

The first thing that I noticed was wrong is that my internet connection wasn't working correctly - the icon in the system tray would show that I was connected to the internet, but if I opened a browser I'd get nothing. I started looking into a few things and noticed that the Windows Firewall / ICS service wasn't started. When I tried to start that, it told me it couldn't locate the files (Error 2) to do so. I googled fixes for that, came upon System File Checker and Error Checking in windows. The former asks me for a Windows XP Disk, but doesn't accept it when I use one, and the latter simply tells me that "Windows cannot complete the system check". I unfortunately don't have any usable system restore points. When I start windows, I immediately get a popup saying "The webpage you requested is not available offline. Would you like to connect?" I also get error messages for Symantec and Google Desktop as soon as Windows loads.

Can someone tell me what is going on here? None of this was happening just a few days ago. I've run several antivirus programs, there's nothing infecting my drives. I could really use some help here, thanks.

A friend of mine recently p[urchased an acer laptop and while he was in town he asked me to 'clean' it for him. I noticed somethings that were disturbing and unique to this Acer laptop. For one thing, when I went in to the services function under administrative tools it refused to give me access to change the status of some programs from automatic to disabled. No explaination was offered, the icons were just opaque and there was no way to change the setrtings.

Next, I noticed in windows security the same opague checked boxes so that I could not turn off all the notifications. Lastly there was no way to find how much harddrive space was used/available on the c drive. I can defrag, but I cant find out how much space is used/available. Mind you, I came here first and read several throads about going in via the control panel yada yada yada to a link that was not on his laptop. Simply not there.

I really 'appreciate' acer for doing their darndest to make sure we stay up to date and safe but we'd like to determine what the settings are, thank you very much. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm new to this forum but I was referred here by a friend who said BleepingComputer offers excellent assistance for problems such as mine.

It seems as though my computer has been crippled by some sort of spyware. Many usual functions have been disabled and/or are simply not loading. For example, if I try to do a System Restore, absolutely nothing happens. Same thing happens if I try to open a Word Document. When I try to run Malwarebytes, I get an error message: "Error Code 707 (3, 0)" and a full system scan of Avira was not able to find any virus.

Also, when loading, my computer is taking a very long time to start and then freezing almost immediately. I'm currently running in Safe Mode with networking, because running Windows in normal mode, I can't really accomplish anything, it usually lasts for about a minute before freezing.

I am currently running my computer in Safe Mode with networking, because as I said I can't really run in Normal Mode. I am posting the HiJack this log, once again please be aware that I ran this while in Safe Mode, as I cannot seem to run programs in Normal Mode without the whole thing locking up.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much.

First, let me state that I`m already being assisted by a member, however the topic started in the Malware section; I believe someone with expertise in Windows XP would be very useful as we seem to be running out of options.
the topic can be found here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/573199/pop-ups-malware-and-unwanted-redirects-adwcleaner-trouble-as-well/?view=getnewpost
In short, I used adwcleaner incorrectly and cleaned critical sections of XP....I`m not exactly clear what those sections were but my functions where certainly compromised. I asked for help and was receiving assistance, but things went from bad to worse when I was told to uninstall my browser...under normal circumstances this would not have been a problem, I believe. Yet, with the compromised XP I seemlingly have no way to reinstall any browser. (I`m currently at a internet cafe and have been using my Iphone)
Moreover, the restoration function and administrative functions all seem to be compromised, so we cannot seem to undo what we`ve done.
I`m requesting assisantance from anyone with experiance with XP, at this point my main goal is to simply restore the PC and or reinstall a Browser.
Regards, and much thanks

Before I start I'm sorry if this is in the wrong thread, i just joined and I don't want to waste time that could be spent trying to fix my computer.

Anyways, I've been recently trying to dual boot windows 7 and windows 8 release preview and i tried several methods from vhd to bootable usb, it was going pretty well until i decided bootable usb would be easier and got rid of the vhd that wouldve had windows 8. Now i am unable to boot my computer after a message saying bootmgr is missing. I have a system recovery disc but when i put it in it comes up with an error :status 0xc00000e9 info an unexpected I/O error has occurred. I also have the usb with the bootable windows 8 installation but that fails to start with another error; status 0xc000000f info a required device isnt connected or cant be accessed. i am currently making a windows 7 boot cd to see if i cant get that to help fix my problem. i would do the same thing with windows 8 but the windows usb/dvd download tool says my windows 8 iso is an invalid iso so i was unable to use that but i got it through a more difficult tutorial. I will answer any and all questions that further explain this problem to the best of my knowledge. I know little about scripts commands etc, but i have been trying to learn so if something like this were to happen it would be easier, sadly i didnt get enough time to work.

So i tried reinstalling norton but it fails again when it gets to the same point, subscription confirmation shows on the installation window. anyways... i have found from messing around that the search function doesn't work, also i cannot edit user accounts. this computer does not have SP2, but is up to date otherwise.
