Yoga 3 1370 power cord or adapter on notebook?

Q: Yoga 3 1370 power cord or adapter on notebook?

Everyday it gets a little harder to get the my Yoga 3 to charge. The adapter plugs in fine but I don't get the plug symbol next to the batter icon without a lot of blowing and holding it just right. Once it's in and begins to charge there are no problems. I don't have to hold the cable a certain way or anything. I don't want to wait until I can't charge my notebook to take care of this. Is there any precedence for this problem? Do I need to get a new cable or is the problem the adapter in the notebook?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

For the past couple of weeks, almost any time my Yoga 3 Pro shuts down or goes to sleep the wireless network adapter "disappears"--when I restart or wake it up, it does not recognize the installed adapter (Broadcom 802.11ac). The troubleshooter tells me it does not recognize that there is an adapter installed and no adapter appears in the control panel. So far, the only thing that eventually works is a hard reboot. Initially, I could get the network adapter to show up after just one or two reboots. Lately, though, it can easily take half an hour of reboots before it finally, mysteriously, shows up. Once it shows up, it works perfectly until I shut it down or it goes to sleep. I have tried reloading the driver (it was already up to date) several times, but it makes no difference. I have tried running hardware scans though the Lenovo support website, Lenovo Diagnostics Tool, and Lenovo Vantage. When the adapter has "disappeared," the scans reveal nothing because they don't think there is any hardware there to scan. When the adapter is recognized, the scans say everything is working properly. I have not noticed any patterns to explain when or why the problem started suddenly--it's not clearly connected to a specific update or damage, etc. Sometimes, albeit rarely, it doesn't happen at all, and I can turn on or wake up the computer to a perfectly working wireless connection. I've had a couple instances recently where the trackpad froze. That's happened occasionally... Read more

My Yoga 3 was bought 3 months ago at a local retailer. It had been an open box model. A couple of nights ago while using it, my wife got a Blue Screen of some variety. Since then, the machine doesn't work at all. When I push the power button (or the reset button next to it), the KB backlight comes on and power light comes on for about a second and then they both shut off. This cycle is repeated indefinitely until I hold down the power button at which time everything goes off. That is the only response I get from the thing. This machine is only 3 months old but I cannot find any way to get in touch with Lenovo for any kind of support, so I thought I would try here first. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just purchased a Yoga 910 and the AC adapter cord is too short for my needs.  Is there a longer one I can purchase?

RELEVANCY SCORE 76

Most of the AC adapters available for the Yoga 900 have a terribly short 6 foot cord. I found this 40 W adapter on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Laptop-AC-Adapter-Lenovo-Yoga-IdeaPad-Miix-GX20H34904-Charger-Power-Cord/dp/B... Has anyone tried out this adapter with their Yoga 900? I heard others post that 40 W adapters will overheat with the Yoga 900, though this adapter says it has overheat protection. Another option would be a tip adapter that could convert other 65 W, 20 V Lenovo adapters to the new USB+notch power plug. Does anyone else have a solution, other than using an extension cord with the 6 ft adapter?

A:Yoga 900 AC Adapter with long cord

At the bottom of the ad, it says this in bold type.  "! PLEASE NOTE ! This 20V 2A 40W AC adapter will not charge laptops that require 20V 3.25A 65W adapter !"

I picked up a yoga 900 without an adapter and I tried a Lenovo 40W adapter while I waited for a 65w adapter from China.  The adapter seemed warm and I got some screen flicker, so I quit using it.  I did use the 40W with the laptop off to charge the battery.  Note:  This is what I did and is not a recommendation from Lenovo.

My best friend lost her power cord and her usb attachment cord to her new scanner. I am wondering if I can give her the power cord from my old scanner instead of her trying to find a new one to buy. Is there a standard step down for most scanners or could it be different and fry her new scanner ? Hers is an HP and my old one was a Umax . Thank you for any advice .

Laptop is approximately 15 months old. In the past few weeks it has had a problem charging the battery. When the power charger is plugged in the icon in the bottom right of the GUI does not show the power cord symbol and the battery discharges in a normal manner as the laptop is used. I have taken the following steps.1. Run the HP battery diagnostic. Test indicates "battery is good but full diagnostic not possible because power cord not plugged in." The power cord is plugged in during the test.2. A replacement power cord was purchased. Does not solve problem.3. Opened the Device Manager, selected, Batteries, and uninstalled and reinstalled "Microsoft ACPI - Comliant ........ I have observed that when I power the laptop off and plug in the power cord, when I return to the laptop it is fully charged. This makes me think the problem is software related. Any help would be appreciated.

I am writing this from my desktop. I just got a new HP Laptop (Pavilion) which came with a 45W power adapter. The power cord section (which plugs into the adapter) is shorter than the one on my older HP Laptop (G60-63OUS Notebook). I would like to have a longer power cord section or, in the alternative, could I/should I use an extension cord to reach the wall outlet I want to use. The older laptop has a 65w power adapter. I have 2 questions:

#1 - Can the power cord section from the 65w adapter be used in place of the one that came with the new laptop? I would, in effect, be mixing the two because the 65w adapter plug is too big for the hole on the laptop.

#2 - Can I get a higher power adapter for the new laptop or should I leave it alone?
Another question I have is regarding the use of cordless earphones to watch TV while working on the laptop. When the laptop is plugged in (to recharge the battery), I get static noise in my left ear. When on battery only, there is no noise. Is there a solution to this?

A:Laptop AC Power Supply Cord and Adapter

#1 Yes, if the older adapter's power cord fits into the new adapter you can use it.

#2 There's no need to get a more powerful adapter, the new laptop must not need as much power as the old one.

I am traveling to Hong Kong in a couple of months. My HP laptop is from the US. It has an external power brick that takes 100-240V.

My question is about the cord that goes from the power brick to the wall outlet. The cord has a US plug. Does the cord also take 100-240V and I just need to buy a plug adapter, or does the cord only take US voltage and I need to buy a new cord?

A:Buy plug adapter or new power cord for travel?

You just need a plug adaptor, the power brick and the cord itself already supports International Voltages (worldwide)

(e.g. Hong Kong uses 50 Hz, 200/220 V, so you're pretty much covered there.)

Something like this:-

The Yoga 3 Pro power adapter looks like a normal USB brick, and the cord looks like USB, except with a kink in the connector at the Yoga 3 Pro end. Can I charge my phone or tablet with it?

A:What's with the Yoga 3 Pro power adapter - it's a ...

Yes the Yoga 3 Pro power adapter is a USB charger too!

How does it work?

The special "fool proof" charging cord has two extra pins on the AC adapter end and two extra pins on the Yoga 3 Pro end. The extra pins only make a connection when the fool proof cord is plugged in to the Lenovo charger and the Yoga 3 Pro. When a regular USB cord is plugged into either the charger or the Yoga 3 Pro, it makes a regular USB connection.

Can I charge the Yoga 3 Pro with any USB charger?

No. The Yoga 3 Pro requires 2A at 20V, which is what the provided 40W Lenovo AC adapter supplies.

Can I charge a USB device with the Yoga 3 Pro AC adapter?

Absolutely. In addition to 2A at 20, the Yoga 3 Pro AC adapter supplies 2A at 5.2V (10.4W), enough to charge a phone or tablet. Works for iPad.

Where can I buy spare AC adapters and cords?

AC adapters with cords are sold in the accessories section of the Lenovo store.

Where do I find the part numbers for the AC adapter and cord?

Look for AC Adapters In the PDF Yoga 3 Pro Hardware Maintenance Manual.

What are the USB specs of the Yoga 3 charging port?

It's a USB 2.0 port. It provides enough power to charge an iPhone, but not enough to charge an iPad. If you want to charge an iPad, try the USB 3.0 port on the right of the Yoga 3 Pro.

Does anybody know where I can get a replacement power adapter for a Lenovo Yoga 2 11? According to the manual, it should be 45W. It appears that neither the original nor any approve substitutes that are listed on the Lenovo site are available for purchase from Lenovo.  I tried to buy one online but ended up giving my money to an overseas scammer. There seems to be a facsimile available in the States, but reviews say that it is a fire hazard and wrecks computers. Hi there,  I am a new user of a Yoga 530 and was wondering if there is a possibility to charge the device with a powerbank? I know that the USB-C ports are not capable of charging the laptop and that the laptop needs to be charged via the small round plug (sry I don't know the technical terms). The question is rather whether there is a power cable available that has a USB plug on the "non-laptop" side so I can then plug that into my powerbank (or a USB charging station)? Hopefully, the question is understandable. Thaks for any help!

A:Yoga 530 Power cable adapter available?

Short answer is no. The USB Type A ports on power banks, et al, deliver 5V at around 1 or 2A. Your 530's slim-tip charging port is looking for Around 20 volts (I don't have the exact voltage available, offhand, but it'll be listed on the charger that came with the computer). Creating a USB to slim-tip cable could damage both the computer and the power bank.

Here is an article featuring several power banks that might provide the necessary voltage and current. As I haven't tried any of them, I can't say for sure, but if you're very careful to match voltage, current and connector polarity, you should be able to find one that suits your needs.

Hello everyone, I purchased Lenovo Yoga 900 Ideapad and I am currently using it in India. The power adapter seems to have gone bad and I wasn't able to charge the laptop with the given adapter.  Since the laptop is under warranty, I contacted the warranty help line only to know that I need to take the laptop to the service center. At a service center, no one really knew how the USB 3.0 charging port works and couldn't check whether the cable was short or the adapter had gone bad. Anyhow, they decided to replace it under warranty but again, they weren't sure when and if the replacement would arrive (as it depends on the inventory levels with Lenovo India).  An exclusive Lenovo shop then offered me an original Lenovo power adapter with USB 3.0 charging at USD 70 but only when it got delivered, I see that it is 40W and not 65W like the original one I had.  65W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter (one which connects the laptop) is orange. The wall adapter doesn't heat up while laptop is charging.40W adapter - the USB 3.0 connecter is yellow. The wall adapter heats up quite a lot while the laptop is charging.  The Lenovo store representative has assured me that this is the right adapter but somehow I am not convinced.  Can the community throw some light on this:- Is it safe to use a 40W adapter for a 65W specification?- Is there any way I can get the adapter replaced by Lenovo US (I can ship the faulty adapter to US)?- I...
