Bluetooth Replacement?

Q: Bluetooth Replacement?

Hi folks -

This is my first time posting here, so I?ll apologize in advance for any unintentional breech of protocol. If I have inadvertently posted in the wrong forum, I?ll trust the moderator to move me to the appropriate place. And I will also apologize for an admittedly long post.

This is not a question but a possible solution for all those suffering under the trials and tribulations of bluetooth technology. I too struggled for a couple of years trying to figure it out and finally decided to go around the mountain rather than move it. I?m semi-retired and have a small but limited budget for gadgets. I ultimately found an inexpensive solution that suites me.

I listen to streaming radio all day ? mostly talk (a la The Tech Guy), but some music as well. After streaming from an old Samsung netbook I use as a media server, I like to have the sound coming from at least two speakers so I can hear it all over the house. I used to LOVE my 900 MHz wireless speakers until they finally quit working (wore out two sets!) and I could no longer find them for sale anymore. I decided to change with the times and explore what could be done using bluetooth technology.

After some research, I found a small bluetooth transmitter on Amazon that was advertised to pair two speakers at the same time for under $25 (US), if memory serves. I then purchased an inexpensive matched pair of bluetooth speakers for $29.95. With a small amount of difficulty, I eventually got these to pair at the same time and life was pretty good for a while. But eventually, these speakers would pair together initially, then one or the other would drop out for no apparent reason, and then getting them both working together became an increasingly more difficult task until it just became no longer possible. GRRR...I began to invent a whole new language over bluetooth technology!

I then started to think outside the box and wonder if there was some entirely different solution possible. While pondering this one day, I was walking through a ?five below? store and happened to see the cheap little FM transmitters used to broadcast a signal to a car radio that has no other input available. While I didn?t see how I could use that particular item, I did start to wonder whether there was some sort of FM transmitter available I could use for my purposes. It turns out there are plenty of choices.

A quick trip to Amazon.com revealed a lot of choices and price points. After studying some of them I settled on a ?Signstek? model ST-200 (portable) FM transmitter. I chose it because I felt it had the best ?bang-for-the-buck? at $39.99. While a recent search did not turn up the same model number, I found a virtually identical model here:

https://www.amazon.com/Signstek-Portable-Stereo-Transmitter-Broadcast/dp/B00IMWRK60/ref=sr_1_17?crid=BTI8SVS335AV&keywords=fm+transmitter+for+home&qid=1578933211&sprefix=fm+transmitter,aps,188&sr=8-17

This unit broadcasts in either mono or stereo, has 4 transmitter power levels, and enough volume to easily over-modulate your speakers if you don?t adjust it carefully. For you true audiophiles, you can visit the website shown above to view the specs. If you are looking for more stringent specs, I?m sure they are available as these types of units range in price from about $20-$150. Just visit Amazon and search for ?Home FM Transmitters?. I started out with the transmitter strength set to the second from the strongest setting, and quickly found out that I was booming my ?station? out about mile up my suburban street! I cut it back to second from the weakest setting and now the signal drops out by the time I get to the edge of my acre lot. Have mercy on your neighbors!

How good is the sound? Well, it?s as good as I need it to be. In truth, the sound is only as good as the receiver you send it to. In my case, I?m just using various FM radios, stereos, and boom boxes I had lying around. The sound coming from a stereo system is quite good while the sound coming from a clock radio sounds like...well, a clock radio. Lets face it, bluetooth isn?t known for concert quality audio reproduction anyway. The true advantage is that you can have the EXACT same audio going every room in which you have an FM radio! No pairing, no latency, and no drop-outs within the range of the transmitter.

I understand that the same thing can be achived with ?Sonos? or similar speaker setups, but all would cost much more for whole-house coverage, and some may even have latency issues. My only real investment was for the transmitter as I simply used what I already had for ?speakers?. Depending on what you want and what you are willing to pay for it, your mileage may vary.

I?m not claiming that this is the end-all and be-all solution to bluetooth or multi-room broadcasting, I?m just presenting it as a viable alternative.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

(Just posting this here so people in the future can find it.) I replaced my motherboard and just wanted to leave this here for future reference to some poor soul who has to do the same.
If you replace the motherboard on your Dell Studio XPS 8000, (service tag 3L8DHK1) and you need a new motherboard you can use an INTEL DQ57TM, it's compatible and I did a successful transplant. Your processor is an INTEL Core-i5 750 CPU 2.67GHZ it uses a SOCKET LGA1156. It uses DDR3 memory.
Once you take out your old motherboard and disconnect all those usb and audio wires and the power button wires. To hook up your USB front jacks, audio jacks etc.... here's which blocks go where:
Wires from the audio jacks and usb ports go into these colored block connectors, and those connectors get plugged into those little rows of pins/jumpers called Internal Headers. Every motherboard manual tells you about them. Grab the manual for your new motherboard and it'll tell you where your audio1, usb1, usb2, usb3, usb4 Header connectors are they look like 2 rows and 5 collumns of short little pins. (They almost always have 1 or 2 pins missing on purpose.)
the wires leading to a YELLOW BLOCK gets plugged into the audio1 header on your new motherboard, it's for audio jacks on top of the computer
wires with the WHITE BLOCK gets plugged into the usb3 headers on your motherboard (they are for the usb jacks on the very top of the computer tower)
wires with the GREEN BLOCK gets plugged into ... Read more

also there is no interface available to connect any hardware to it, i know it has something to do with some Vaio software on the system.
it allows me to use dual band mode and it shows that blue tooth is present but disables it claiming interference with 2.4 GHz band.
now i have had blue tooth dongles installed working while using 2.4 GHz band before with no issues, so i don't get the issue now.

Then I check the bluetooth device in the Windows device manager and it is no longer there, as if my laptop didn't have bluetooth at all. The only work-arround is to reboot. Then it works for a while, can be days or sometimes maybe even weeks before it stops working again. I found this article https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/solutions/ht506394 which seems to describe my problem. Unfortunately, the proposed solution doesn't work as my driver is already up to date (20.100.0.4) Any idea?

Hey guys,

So i spent the entire day trying to figure out why my Bluetooth installed fine but after one restart it disappeared and it wouldn't come back. I finally figured it out that the FN+F2 (wireless/bluetooth switches) is what enables/disabled it HAHAHAHAHA.

default (after startup): WiFi on / BT off
first time: WiFi on / BT ON yay~!
second time: WiFi off / BT on
third time: WiFi off / BT off

and repeat.

I hope this helps people with their bluetooth issues =)

Windows 8 was able to install all my Function Keys so I'm going to assume this will be the case for others. Good luck

My bluetooth mouse is causing me headache - again.I used to have times when it randomly turn off but this is not the point here right now. I know that there are already posts about that.In my case my bluetooth works fine for bluetooth loudspeaker and external keyboard but as soon as I switch on my mouse it interferes with the other device. So when I turn on the mouse the speaker stops playing music and the external keyboard is off as well. When I go the settings trying to connect the bluetooth mouse I can see it but when I try to pair it either it disappears in the moment I am hovering over it (as if someone wanted to fool me actually) or when clicking on it successfully I get the message "This didn't work" or "Make sure your mouse is still discoverable".I tried many things already in the settings as well as in the device manager but nothing works. As a matter of fact, everytime when I switch on the bluetooth mouse it messes up with everything.Did anyone have this ever before and if so, could you solve it?Many thanks in advance for your answer and have a nice day!

well i decided to go full bluetooth because im tired of spending money on replacment headphones and broken tangled cables so i brought myself some Tone infinium HBS-900 bluetooth headphones. now on my phone that supports APT-X these things are amazing! but on my computer it seems that im plagued with interference and sound crackling. so i swapped out my realtek AC wireless wifi card and brought a intel 7260 Dualband +bluetooth 4.0
for a while it seemed to be working and now its again crackling and shuddering. its driving me nuts! then i brought THIS

so that i can make anything bluetooth just to my disappointment that i dont think these 2 thing scan connect to each other, i mean how would i connect to things that have no gui together? but someone said they have done it ant it works fine but i can for the life of me find out how to do it.
i have already trying updating the drivers on my computer and i ave the latest. but if i cover my bluetooth or even move 2 feet away from it it crackles and disconnects sometimes. it was not doing that at first and i only tested it with my pc but yea. i tried 4 phones and they are flawless, i could go outside of my apartment and i would be connected on all 4 phones but not on my pc.

Hi
One of my friend in India purchased "HCL ME Sync 1.0 (U3) Tablet (WiFi, 3G via Dongle) by HCL" online . It says in many places that it supports Bluetooth but when I saw this I couldn't find any option for the bluetooth and don't know how to turn it on. Is there any one who has purchased it and help me out to turn the bluetooth on or how can we transfer files with some other bluetooth device. Even I couldn't find much good information on internet.

A:Hcl Me U3 tablet says file sharing with Bluetooth but don't know how to turn on the bluetooth ?

I don't see it listed in the spec sheet, nor the user guide.

On both of my android 4.2 devices, Bluetooth is listed after Wi-fi in Settings. I would think it's the same w/ android 4.1. It's possible the tablet doesn't have bluetooth.

Okay, so I don't really know if a solution is out there, but here is the situation I'm in. I only have one available USB port left which I am currently using for the Logitech Bluetooth dongle that came with my Logitech K750 solar keyboard. I would also like to attach my Samsung wep410 headset for Skype calls.

I have tried to discover the headset with and without Logitechs software installed with no luck. I then checked device manager, which does not show the dongle as a Bluetooth receiver/device. My assumption from that is that Logitech has it setup to only receive from their own devices.

Since I have no room for another dongle (and a hub isn't really ideal). Is there some way to force the dongle to detect normal Bluetooth devices? I've searched for a custom driver or other work around with no luck so far. This is on a computer running Windows 7 64bit.

I recently installed the latest version of the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack (v9.10.32T) for one of my desired applications to properly function. However, connecting my Bluetooth headphones through Toshiba's bluetooth manager does not seem to support the media buttons on the headset. These include Play/Pause and seek buttons. Before the Bluetooth stack, when I used my default bluetooth driver for connection, these controls had worked fine.

Also, there does not seem to be a specific setting to fix this in the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack Options.
How would I go about getting these controls back?

I got my Yoga 920 in Jan2018 in Las vegas. Something wrong with its bluetooth since July, the bluetooth was switched off automatically (my mouse is connected to the PC via bluetooth), then no bluetooth hardware can be found in my PC. Then after reset and BIOS reboot, it will be ok. But such kind of things will happen again.....   Then is August 2018, I got my book repaired in HK service center (Case No.180980012). I was told that the bluetooth moudel (the hardware) was changed and the problem was solved. It is ok for 1-2 weeks after that.  Then the same situation came out again.  Now i am frustrated because the reset and BIOS reboot does not work. Which means I can not use my bluetooth any longer. The only respond I can get from Lenovo is that "please send your PC to our service cenrter..."  OMG, I have sent it there before but seems the problem can not be solved!!  Anybody who can let me know what the hell is going on with my PC??Also, another thing which makes me more fructrated is that there is no service for my PC in China mainland and the nearest for me is Hongkong!!  So redicluous!!!

My bluetooth functionality and even the icon disappeaered from my laptop.  The HP Service Assistant tried to do a network diagnostic and couldn't find a problem.  It said to go to the HP support site and load latest Bluetooth drivers.  The only drivers shown were for a Broadcom Bluetooth.  Not thinking I had a different Bluetoth system I downloaded and installed the Broadcom drivers.  Then I went to the device manager and saw that I did not have a Broadcom system, but an Intel system. (I should have done this earlier I know).  The device manager showed that the drivers were probably corrupted and it couldn't validate the digital signature for the drivers that were there. (Code 52) I revisited the device manager and looked at the properties tab of the drivers and the events tab under that.  It said there that Device USB/VID-8087&PID etc. needed further installation. Now I am confused and frustrated.  I don't want to try to instal this device if it is not the correct Intel device, but rather the Broadcom device. In other words, I don't want to screw things up even more. Can someone please tell me what to do?

Hello.

I have an issue with my Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter - Version 4.0 Class 2 Smart Ready Adapter (Model No. MUA-BA3). Let me explain...

Okay, I have setup my Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter with the drivers for my Windows 7 operating system. Now, when I plug this USB Bluetooth adapter into my USB port connector on my desktop computer, it automatically lights up with a blue light on the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter itself and on my Windows 7 system tray/notification area I get the Bluetooth icon displayed as ?ON?. I then get the red Bluetooth icon in my Windows 7 system tray/notification area demonstrating that my Bluetooth is indeed OFF and the Bluetooth blue light on the Medialink USB Bluetooth Adapter goes OFF or is not lit any longer. Okay, so far so good ? everything is normal.

Hello!I have a Lenovo Yoga 720-15IKB laptop that I bought this summer from a Best Buy--I recently (for Christmas, huzzah) got a wireless headsest that I have been struggling to connect to my laptop. The headphones work perfectly fine with my phone (Samsung Galaxy, if that's at all relevant) I updated all my drivers and when that didn't work, I uninstalled and reinstalled them. I went through all my driver settings and made sure the laptop would not turn them off to save battery, I made sure that the laptop was set to Bluetooth: ON.I did manage to get the two devices paired, but when I attempted to connect them, they would only do so if the headphones were directly ontop of my laptop keyboard. This got me thinking, so I placed the headphones an inch or two away from my laptop, connected them, and then went to play a video with a decent volume and sure enough, I could hear that there was audio--but when I tried to actually put the headphones on, the audio cut out and the bluetooth disconnected. What could be the cause of this and how can I go about fixing it?

I bought a bluetooth dongle which for some reason isn't working in Windows 7. It shows up in Devices and Printers as "CSR Bluetooth Chip" and when I right click on it and select bluetooth settings, nothing happens. It shows up under Bluetooth Radios in device manager. As a test I tried using it in a Windows 10 VM. When connecting the USB dongle via VirtualBox it was referred to as "Uknnown device 0A12:0001 [134]" and it worked just fine in the VM. Any clue as to what is wrong?

I have a Dell Latitude E6410 laptop running W7 64 bit Pro, 8 Gig Memory. Would goning to a Bluetooth keyboard and a Bluetooth mouse create problems, or should I just stay with the wired connections? The keyboard and the mouse as of this time would be my only bluetooth devices. It does have the internal Bluetooth.
Thanks in Advance

System Information: Asus Notebook UX303L, Windows 10, Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition

Okay, I've been working on this for awhile and have tried a million things. I'm going back to square one so pretend I haven't tried anything yet.

Here is the problem.

I just upgraded to Windows 10 (from windows 8.1) on a 2 month old laptop. On previous version there were NO problems with bluetooth. The problems started immediately after upgrade.

When the upgrade finished Windows 10 remembered all of my previous Bluetooth pairs. My bluetooth mouse (Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition) worked before the installation but after my system reboot the cursor no longer showed movement. The batteries are new. The mouse is acting exactly like it does when it is properly connected (lights flash, makes scrolling sounds, etc). When I checked the Bluetooth device screen it still showed as paired. I rebooted. No change. So I unpaired the device. When I unpaired the device it flashed for a second as a possible device to pair with and then was no longer on the list. Other possible devices to pair with appear and disappear from the list without cause. (Ex. sees a scanner for a few seconds then no longer has a scanner. Sometimes its up for a few minutes at most but the list is constantly flickering.) So I rebooted. Then it did not see the mouse at all. I did this for several days. Sometimes when I would turn on my laptop it would flicker, sometimes it would not. After about 3 days with no ... Read more

Probably Windows 10 replaced the original Bluetooth driver with Microsoft driver which doesn't work well, if at all. Go to manufacturer's site and download the Bluetooth driver. If there is no Windows 10 driver, use that of 8.1 This should fix your connectivity problems.

So if i click on Send Files, it says " select where to send your files" with a large box under it which i cannot type in. If i press recieve files, it says " windows was unable to transfer some files, an address incompatible with the requested protocol was used.

So i dont know how to fix this!?! Help please? I'm trying to send videos from my phone to my computer via bluetooth!

Hi !!
I am having a bluetooth adapter installed on my PC. Now I wanted to connect my Samsung HM1100 headset with it. It paired and everything but during installation of driver it says "NO DRIVER FOUND". I have tried too many times and I have also installed a bluetooth driver "SILICON WAVE BLUETOOTH DRIVER".
Actually its a dongle I'm having. So it didn't require any drivers but it won't connect to my bluetooth headset.
Help will be appreciated.

I recently purchased these 2 items. Hoping for a headset for my phone and my pc.

Newegg.com - Kinivo BTH220 Black Bluetooth Stereo Headphone – Supports Wireless Music Streaming and Hands-Free Ca
Newegg.com - Mini Bluetooth USB 2.0 Micro Adapter Dongle

It worked perfect with my Andriod, but the Dongle does not seem to want connect with the headset. It seems the Dongle was not made to work with Windows 7 64bit. The bluetooth dongle will recognize the headset when I try to sync them, but will not actually let them connect for any audio. Here's a pic of the error.

I've tried reconnecting it multiple times. Been searching online for the past few hours for drivers and programs to get it to work, but no such luck. Any help will be appreciated.
