Remote User Sends Audio Files to Radio Reading Service for the Blind -- Occasional Inexplicable Stalls -- FTP Configured on Windows Server 2016

Q: Remote User Sends Audio Files to Radio Reading Service for the Blind -- Occasional Inexplicable Stalls -- FTP Configured on Windows Server 2016

Stewart,

Thank you for contacting us. I brought this issue to your attention almost three months ago on April 18th. The Washington Ear's FTP will occasionally lock a file it is receiving on upload and insist that a copy already exists. I am a bit surprised that
this is the first time we are hearing from you again on this issue as while it is not necessarily a daily occurrence it certainly happens on a weekly basis at minimum.

The most recent day in question that the problem occurred would have been July 3rd's upload from the files I saw still in the directory when I went to upload Monday's reading.

I would love to assist you in resolving the problem of uploads being locked however it appears to me that it is a server side and not a client side issue. The only thing that I can provide are the details that I have noticed and the attempted solutions which
have not worked from this end.

Upon receiving the message that the file already exists, renaming the file name or changing the extension locally before attempting another upload provides the same error message. I am not sure of how your server verifies what files are there before receiving
an upload. This message occurs even when a command to delete the files on the server has been sent and waiting for a response to verify that the directory appears to be empty before attempting to upload.

I would be curious to see if adding steps to your automated script that removes the WAV files after they have been downloaded and converted to TRM might resolve this issue. If it does not then obtaining the Richmond Times-Dispatch may be something that
will have to be done manually going forward.

Please let us know of future developments.
Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys

I've been going to this a particular law site for sometime now, just recently I could not log on to it.
Now I know The site could be no more, but I very much doubt that given it's content, or it could be down, when sites are either down or gone it is usually quite obvious.

My problem is this
It keeps coming up with a 502 Proxy Error. Now I have no idea what that means and even the explanation is vague. IE:The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /sectors/inheritance-probate-trusts-and-wills/.

Reason: Error reading from remote server.

What is it and what can I do if anything to rectify it.
The site holds a lot of info I require.

Thanks guys

sincerely yours

Greetings,

I have an amazon cloud server running server 2016 os and have been using a splashtop business account which provides a single remote user access to it (multiple users can only share a session and cannot have their own unless you go to enterprise which requires additional infrastructure).

I now have a requirement to have more than 1 user(1-5) remoting into the machine and working in 5 seperate windows users sessions.

I am wondering if someone can reccommend a safe and secure software solution that will not break the bank.

pretty much all of the remote access solutions i have looked up so far are geared towards single user access or they depend on you having an existing IT infrastructure of some sort to basically host the ras/vpn software services.

I would love to find something simple similar to logmein, splashtop, gotomypc etc. that supports multiple user sessions and is safe and secure.

In previous situations where more than 1 users is required to login I would simply just open rdp access in aws firewall to the end user static ips to give end users access via RDP, however in this case they need to be able to access it from multiple locations which have dynamic internet ips.

I am looking for something safe, simple and inexpensive. 2 step verification would be great..

I am familiar with vpn solutions like neorouter, hamachi (from years ago) but not sure how they stack up with regards to security when compared to splashtop pro, logmein pro etc. nor am i sure... Read more

Hi there,

Can anyone give me some simply instructions on how to configure remote desktop? I've looked all over the internet and can't seem to figure it out. I want to remote control my home computer from work.

I've configured the home PC in some ways... mostly going all the things the internet tells me to do... clicking various check marks and so on. I guess to log in I need to know what the ip address is... i found ipconfig but I'm not exactly sure which of the numbers is my IP address. Also, in user name, what do I type? I have my home PC set up... I am an administrator... to log in to my home PC I use my name as the user name with a password.

Do I need to think about ports? I have a laptop that I sometimes use on the network.

This should be very easy. I'm just not quite knowledgable enough.

OK, I have googled and googled but I cannot find any succesfull solution for my problem.
Actually, I found one solution but it doesn't work with Windows Server 2008.

My audio device does not work, when I try to activate it it says "The Audio Service is Not Running."

I started the audio service, and it says: "The Dependency or local group failed to start"

After a bit of research, I discovered that you have to start the dependency, Windows Audio Endpoint Builder. (I checked all the other dependencies, they are started.) When I try to start this, the error comes up:
"Error 0x80070002: System cannot find the file specified."

How can I start the audio?
This is necessary to use my Server 2008.

Thanks,

A:Solved: Windows Server 2008 Workstation Audio Service

I have discovered a solution for myself!
I can't find the original page, but this worked for me.
I almost cried when hearing my system sounds.

For future reference:

1. Run cmd
2. Navigate into

Code:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Audiosrv
3. Look at the DependOnService entry
4. Right click, edit, and remove all values except RpcSs
5. Restart, and cry with joy.

I believe this works on other Vista versions also.

Or, if you're afraid that you might mess something up, try this registry entry.
Save, right click and press "Modify".

(I am not sure if that will work, if it doesn't, try the first method.)

Recently, I have analyzed clear LDAP traffic which are coming to Domain Controllers and found that Outlook client for Mac doesn't encrypt LDAP traffic by default and user credentials are sending in clear text. Settings in Outlook for Mac configured automatically

When I manually enable "Use SSL to connect" in

Is there is a way to enable this option automatically when user add his exchange account to Outlook for Mac?

Maybe some option should be enabled on Exchange server?

Hi,

I am playing around with Server 2012. If I want to have a laptop configured for "at office use" with option to go on site, what would be the best way to do that in order to retain access to shared locations on server that is "at office"?

Should I create a standard windows account unrelated to my domain controller, and have them VPN regardless if they are in office or on site? Or is there a way to have a laptop configured for domain use, where it will still be functional (local computer use) on site outside of the office, even without internet connection (I know you can's VPN without it).

Thanks

A:Best way to set up local and remote user with Server 2012

Well this is kind of interesting. You can in fact use a domain laptop away from the local network as long as you have logged into int once on the domain so it can cache your password for future log ins. Now comes to the more difficult part of your question's. Accessing files remotely while not online, you can set up what is called offline files. Offline files will give you acess to your files away from domain network. So if you choose to do offline files any changes made to the file while away from the domain controller where you shares are set up will have to be synced once back on the domain network. So if you make changes to lets say docA while off domain network, once you get back to domain network you will have to sync offline files to the server to update any changes you have made. This set up would not require offsite network but can bring problems when syncing once you reconnect on domain. But now lets say you have the same shares and now you have multiple individials with the same access to the shares. Say you make changes to docA and the other person makes changes to docA while offiste. Once you both reconnect and sync to server you could have issues with data such as duplicate information or doc merging. VPN would be the best option for sure....

I have a Windows XP user who can open PDF files on our secondary file server (e.g. \\serverB\shares\marketing\file.pdf) but not from the main server (\\serverA\shares\marketing\file.pdf). Same with copying PDF files. He can
copy them to his desktop. from server B but not from server A. Server A is the one assigned to him because server B is being pre-seeded for DFS and is in a different office anyway.

The problem is only with PDF files. He can open and copy any other files. And it's only on his Windows XP machine. His Windows 7 machine works just fine (he can copy and open PDF files from server A).

The two servers (Windows 2016) are set up identically as far as NTFS permissions. The only difference is that server A is set up in DFS while server B is being pre-seeded before being added to DFS.

DFS namespace type is: domain (Windows Server 2008 mode).

The XP machine had no problem under server A when the DFS namespace type was Server 2000 mode, but I'm not sure that would cause the problem.

My Windows 2000 Advance Server can not boot into logon screen.
The status bar just keeps on going on the first GUI screen (as Kernel is initialing) of Windows 2000 Server logo, unable to go to the logon screen. All other boot options/methods (safe Mode, Last known good config, Directory Services Restore Mode, etc.) would produce the same kind of result.

This startup problem happened after Offline Files/Caching is configuration on this domain server/controller, so I kind of link it with my current problem.

The Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v2.0.50727_X86 service is marked as an interactive service.  However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services.  This service may not function properly.

This seems to be my issue but I'm sure it's a combination of things that have led to this point. I use a program for work that stops working when I select a particular tool. It may stop working when I use other things but since it's the most important toll in the program I haven't tried to use anything else.

The program is Autodesk Revit 2011

The tool is the lione tool. Whenever I select the line tool, the program crashes. My browser also redirects to an ad site every so many clicks. When I view the event viewer, the error I see most is:

.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.5466 - Failed to CoCreate profiler.

Whenever I try to manually start the following service:

it says service started and stopped automatically, some services do not start if there is nothing using them.

The title of the post is from the events viewer directly related to when I tried to start the service. I have also set the service to start automatically but does not fix the autodesk issue. The reason I think it's related is because of the error above, that occurs when the line tool fails.

This PC with Win7 Pro X64 is my test PC, so there's no data to keep. I'm looking for a solution to apply to other devices, too.

One thing the infection does is use the Roaming profile/Sync to infect any device I use (even on a different ISP in another state!) as soon as I log into my Time Warner Cable webmail. TWC says they can't help because I own my own cable modem due to a very tight budget. I pull the Ethernet cable from the modem unless I need it to prevent tons of connections to my PC. Last I checked there were 256 users approved to log in.

My roomate has a Toshiba laptop that got infected going online with my connection, as Kaspersky Internet Security forces you to do before it will run (pretty stupid, eh?).

I received a Kindle Fire, and it got infected using the out-of-state different company ISP when I signed in to TWC webmail.

There also appears to be a virtual machine hidden within my C: partition, but operating as a separate hard drive with XP Pro as the OS. My local repair  shop thought they'd fiixed it, but all the bad behavior started right back up when I got it home.

I've run DBAN, Clean All and Partition Magic trying to delete it with no success. Regardless of what OS I try to install after an erase (XP Home or Pro, Win 2000 Pro, Ubuntu 14.xxx) the Windows 7 install screen comes up as if there's a doctored copy somewhere on the PC already.

Hi guys, having a bit of trouble with a project i'm working on. iv developed a program that can generate astounding fractals, what i consider to be my best one so far can be found here (be warned, its 10000x10000 pixels and about 20Mb). What i want to do now is implement this same program as a visualizer, not a real time visualizer, but capable of producing a video file. Now you have a little of the background, here's the question, how do i go about analyzing wave, or any other audio file (i merely presume wave will be the easiest to work with) to extract some useful data to pass to my fractal algorithm? things such as frequency and amplitude at a given time are what i'm looking for. i have a basic understanding of the wave header, but no understanding of the rest of the data. I am using vb.net in Visual Studio 2008.

I am having an issue with a offline (not connected to internet) Windows XP desktop. In power options, it is set to turn off monitor after 45 minutes, my screensaver is set to display after 10 minutes. Except that the monitor turns off after 10 minutes hence I never see my screensaver. I was told elsewhere that maybe the monitor itself is set to turn off after 10 minutes, and told me to check the menus of the monitor. There is nothing in the menus regarding monitor sleep. I tried a new monitor and the same thing happens after 10 minutes. the first monitor was a Samsung SyncMaster 1024x768 monitor and the second monitor I tried was a Dell 1280x1024 monitor. for the second monitor, Power Options still says to turn off monitor after 45 minutes. I see a yellow triangle is Power Options that says, "The UPS Service is currently stopped" I found an old 2007 topic right here on Bleeping Computer that told me to go to run and type services.msc and to start the Uninterruptible Power Supply. I tried that, and I even tried setting the Uninterruptible Power Supply startup type to 'Automatic' but every time I try to do so, I get the following error: Error 2481: the ups service is not configured correctly In the Power Options, it says "Manufacturer: None" and the model is blank.

I think that the service being stopped and unable to start is why both monitors turn off after 10 minutes when set to 45 minutes.

Can anybody please help me fix this? Thanks

Hello,
I've just started with a small company who already have AD and a file server, exchange, etc. They currently use webdav or RDS to remotely access files on the server and everyone complains about having to imput their username and password to open a file and how slow it is. I'm trying to find the best solution to give them access to the files without using the cloud. The main office, where I am has AD. 2 Remote offices have no infrastructure, but using laptops provided by us with domain cached credentials. Then there are 2 people in another country who work from home. I thought VPN either client based for everyone or static between the offices with each office having a DC and syncing files a few times a day. I'm just not sure that is the right choice for such a small company. Circa 30 people. 12 in main office, 5 in the other two offices. Also good to mention, the two other offices do not have a reliable fast internet connection. Please, what solutions do I have without using the Cloud?

Problem was an older PCI SATA I controller with a VIA chipset (NOT THE GTX 670). Replacing it with a newer PCIex1 SATA III card with a ASMedia chipset has eliminated the occasional stutter

My PC
CPU: i7 2700K

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 670
Surround Sound Receiver: Onkyo 515
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro

Hello,
My pc has been running great for about two years now, but starting a couple weeks ago I have been noticing an occasional audio "hiccup" once or twice per hour where everything seems to lag out for a half-second. If a computer could fart it would sound like this stutter I am talking about.

This audio stutter occurs whether i am listening to music, watching videos, or playing games.
I have since performed a clean re-install of windows 8.1, and run the system file checker to verify the integrity of my OS files, but the problem persists. I have tried two of the most recent Nvidia drivers (including a beta) for the GTX 670, and will try reverting back to older drivers next.

I don't believe it to be a problem with the receiver because I have tested it on other inputs (TV, PS3) and the problem is not seen (heard) there.

Any ideas of what may be causing this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Starting today, I constantly have this audio playing in the background which sounds like some foreign radio with ads. Although it is very feint, I still can hear it. The weird thing is, if i restart my computer, I start hearing it even before putting in my password, meaning it's probably not a program that I need to physically open (chrome, etc). The weird part is that even when I mute my computer, I can still hear it. It's a Lenovo ThinkPad 450s, I just got it this January and I have kept it bloat-free with very few programs installed. I find nothing suspicious in the task manager, and I have ran Adwcleaner, Malware bytes, and Windows Defender full scan and they've caught nothing. I would very much appreciate any help I can get on this. I am posting this in the security subforum because others with this problem seemed to relate this to a Trojan. There are five computers in my home and I have two remote computers. I have been looking for a backup option other than my physically plugging in a flash
drive and copying user files to it every 30 days or so. I've recently considered connecting a 1TB hard drive to my modem; so, my home computers can access it during an automatic backup process {like Windows File History option}. I have concerns with that though:
will it leave the user files vulnerable to remote attack? Will I, as the network admin, be able to manage that hard drive and all the files on it, preventing multiple copies and unnecessary copies? And, would it be possible to create a remote login for the
drive; so, I could enable the two remote computers to backup to it?

greetings friends

I've had my laptop for around 7 months with scarcely any problems. Yesterday I was on my administrator account as usual and everything was running fine, I did no changes nor any downloads. Today I tried to log onto my User Account, which is the Admin. and I received the user profile service service failed to logon notice, out of nowhere. When I signed on to my fathers account whose is also on my pc, it allowed me to with no problems. When I try to configure the Administrative or Account settings, after typing my password, no action takes place. When I try to download the Fix it program from Windows 7 it doesn't allow me due to the need for the Admin. password, which I type and no action takes place as well. I tried Safe + Command mode and net user administrator/active:no to deactivate my Admin. password. Didn't work. I have several files in my account I need for school, work, etc. I was trying to make the other User Account the Admin thereby freeing my User account of this problem, no luck. When I log on in Safe Mode it allows me to log on to my Admin User. I tried restoring settings to the latest date that appeared, no luck. Someone pleaseee help I have absolutely no idea what to do. Please help.

greetings friends

Tap F8 when you turn the PC on or restart; when you get the Windows boot menu there should be some recovery options, I think near the bottom of the page. Try a System Restore to the most recent date prior to this problem.

I have four user accounts. none will log on. the message is the same for all "the user profile service service failed the logon" "the server endpoint cannot perform the operation" Googling the message yielded no relevant results and results full of spammy results

A:Unable to log onto windows - the user profile service service failed the logon"

Well...those two errors are somewhat different.

The user profile service error is common, IMO, while the server endpoint error seems related to networking.

Are you trying to logon to a domain?

I needed to install .NET 3.5 on Server 2016 but have hit all of the roadblocks and need help. Here is what I have tried so far...

I tried to add the feature via the server manager but it ended with code 0x80070002. I did have to provide a path to the sources\sxs folder for the cab file which I expected but that didn't help.I tried using the DISM powershell command to add the feature, both using the source location and also using /All so that it downloads the files from Windows Update. The end result was the same as #1 attempt - 0x80070002.I made sure all updates for the OS have been applied and that updates for 'other Microsoft products' was checked. this made no change in the error.I checked the installed packages via powershell and it shows 3.5 as removed, which again is expected for Server 2016 as they intentionally left it out but provided the cab file in the install media.I have executed a clean sfc /scannow with no errorsI have run a clean dism package commandI have tried installing under a fresh admin user profileI have researched for around 3 hours on the forums so I look forward to the various input
I have uploaded both the DISM and CBS logs. I started fresh with both logs so they contain only details related to a single attempt t install via the server manager.

I was wondering if there are any known issues or any compability problems if I want to run windows 2016 Server on a Lenovo ThinkPad T480 20L5. It's meant to act as a probe to monitor traffic in a server room but needs to be small and mobile. Hence my question. Thanx =) Magnus

Hi,
My objective is to run the tool and analyze the security and software patches on server or computer and produce a list of recommended install.
I read that MBSA (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/mbsa-removal-and-guidance) only supports up to Windows Server 2012R2.
Is there any tools that support Windows Server 2016 ?
I used WUA and it can't run on some of the computer.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/desktop/aa387290(v=vs.85)
Then, explore Microsoft Security Compliance Toolkit 1.0 but lack of instruction. Not sure it can do the job or not.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55319
Do you have any recommendation on how I can get started ? Thanks.

According to https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?alpha=windows%208
Windows 8 Service pack support end date Jan 12, 2016
--- Does this mean Windows 8 will be unsafe to use then?

A:Windows 8 Service pack support end date Jan 12, 2016

Hi cmptrgy Yes, it means that starting on January 12th 2016, if you want to receive security updates for your Windows 8 system, you'll have to upgrade to Windows 8.1, so Windows 8 can be considered vulnerable then.

Hi, Try the following. First of all, use another PC to create a bootable Windows 10 DVD or USB Flash Drive via the following link.  Under the section 'Need to create a USB, DVD or ISO', download the Media Creation Tool. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Once you have this, run the tool, select 'Create installation media for another PC', then select the language, edition of Windows 10, and 64bit. Follow the rest of the prompts to create this and then click Finish when completed. Insert the Windows 10 Installation Media and Shutdown the notebook by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Start-up Menu and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ). Use the arrow keys to highlight the CDROM (uefi) or USB Flash Driver ( uefi ) option, depending on which type of media you created, then hit enter - if prompted to 'Press any key to continue....' - do so. Boot to the Advanced Start-up Options Menu - see Option 5 on the link below for details on accessing this. http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanced-startup-options-boot-windows-10-a.html#option5 Then try running Windows System Restore to return the notebook to a point in time before this issue occurred - See Option 1 on the link below for details on this procedure. http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4588-system-restore-windows-10-a.html Regards, DP-... Hi all

Anybody know of some hardware that I can test for a BLIND colleague.
What I want basically is to be able to scan some books and convert the text into some sort of sound to create audio CD's without having to read the entire book / document.

I can edit out errors afterwards - he can stand the sound of my voice OK (surprisingly).

Is there "any such animal" out there. I've absolutely NO experience with this type of hardware and the usual government agencies are totally useless on this sort of stuff.

Any links etc - much appreciated.

Cheers
jimbo
