I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Recently I received a new set of wireless, bluetooth headphones as a Father's day gift. I have successfully paired the headphones to my smartphone and my laptop, Acer Aspire running Windows 8.1. I have no problems using the phones with the smartphone, but the laptop is my problem. The "Control Panel" under "Sound" shows the phones, but they are designated as "Disconnected". Nothing I do can activate the device, and no help from MS and their literature shows me nothing beyond what I've already done. Under "Devices and Printers", the phones are shown as recognized but still they don't work. I don't know if I just have not found the correct toggle to turn on the phones or if it's something else. I'd hate to return the headphones since they were a gift from the "kids", but if these cannot be useful, I have no choice. Please help!!!!

Right click the Volume icon (in the Notification Area) - Playback devices. Are the headphones listed? If so, you can probably make them the default and, hopefully, that's all it will take.

I have Windows 7 Professional on my PC. In the first load I had, the PC should automatically detect if the LAN cable was plugged in, turn off the wireless radio, and change the network icon in the right bottom corner to reflect the cable was now in use.
Unfortunately, I had to reload my PC, and since then I can't get it to do it again.
So, what I'd like to achieve is this: Have Windows automatically detect when the cable is plugged in, turn of the wireless radio, and change the network icon in the right bottom corner to reflect the cable is in use - and, obviously, vice versa.
Can someone tell me what I need to do, please?

A:Have Windows 7 automatically switch to LAN when cable is plugged in and switch to wireless when it's removed

Hi,
There are two methods can help you.
1. Go to <Network and Sharing><Change Adapter Settings> and right click your wired and wireless adapters one at a time to change the properties. Select IPv4, click <Properties>
then click <Advanced>. For each one, clear the "Automatic metric" check box and assign the metric value manually. Setting your wired adapter?s metric value lower than wireless adapter one, such as ?1? for wired adapter and ?2? for wired adapter.

2. Go to <Network and Sharing><Change Adapter Settings>,
hold down 'alt' to bring up the "File" menu, select "Advanced", select
"Advanced Settings" from the dropdown menu, adjust the priority of your wired adapter higher than your wireless adapter in the "Advanced Settings" window under the "Adapters and Bindings" tab.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click ?Mark as Answer? on the post that helps you, and to click ?Unmark as Answer? if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Hi everyone, I searched through the forums but couldn't really find what I was looking for.

Currently we have a DHCP server set up to a switch, that has a special line connecting to a switch in our shop which is just across our back lot, giving network access to the few computers over there. They recently put in a new machine that needs network access, but they have already accidentally cut two ethernet cords. I'm looking to provide a wireless solution for the machine, but I don't want to have to spend a few thousand dollars on a large wireless switch.

Can I plug a wireless router into the switch in our shop, and essentially turn it into a wireless bridge, or is there another, simpler way to do this?

If this has already been answered, sorry for missing it!

Thanks!

A:Solved: DHCP Server -> Switch -> Switch -> Wireless

While you could use a router, or even configure the router to act as an access point, why not just buy a true access point? They start at $27: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCate...ame=Wireless-AP-Bridges-Repeaters&Order=PRICE

Hi!

I have a Sony DR-BT50 that work great with my VAIO laptop, either on Kubuntu or Windows 7, but I've noticed that it's a way smoother experience in the open source world.

My problem with Windows is that every time I turn my headphones on while using Skype it switches to HSP and won't go back to A2DP until I delete it from the control panel and reconnect it. OK, I know you would say "just remember to never turn them on while having Skype running" but the problem is that it will also decide to miss behave at random.

Question is: Is there any software around the web to "hack" Windows BT stack and manually switch between protocols?

Lost my On/Off Toggle for Bluetooth

Last year whilst I was on 8.1 before my upgrade to Windows 10, I noticed that the On/Off Toggle had disappeared ? see screenshot (taken when it was on 8.1).

Now I am on Windows 10 the toggle still has not reappeared.

I definitely had the On/Off option, but I think it disappeared after a routine Windows 8.1 update last year, but I cannot be sure.

Some people suggested that I should delete all the Bluetooth software on my computer, then reboot and the software will be reinstalled correctly. I have not done this because of the fear that once deleted the software to gone forever. I dont have copies of this software and it seems logical that if I delete it, then its gone.

I am using Dell Wireless 1705 Bluetooth, Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator, Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator - see Device Manager Screenshot. To turn off I now have to go into Device Manager and disable it.

My Driver is Qualcomm Atheros Communications, ver 10.0.1.1 dated 28-07-2015

I can Disable/Enable the driver, but still no toggle otherwise the Bluetooth works fine.

Any suggestions.

Hello I just bought a brand new computer 3 days ago. Haven't been using it that long. It's an HP Envy 810qe or something like that. The first day I played on it 77 windows updates were downloaded.

The computer has built in Bluetooth which I love but I noticed it was always-on and was wondering if there was an on/off switch. I searched Google and seen there is an on/off switch in PC Settings, PC Devices, Bluetooth. Unfortunately I do not have this. Also under PC Settings and Network I do not have an on/off switch for the wifi. I also don't have anything in PC Settings called Wireless. I talked with HP support (since I just bought this computer) their only option was to do a System Restore or Recovery. I talked to Microsoft support and their only option was to pay for a premium membership so they could use their 'advanced tools' to scan my system and find out the problem. (which is my long history of dealing with computers and support their answer would have probably been the same which was System Restore or Recovery, at which who even knows if this is going to fix the problem)

So now I come to this community my first time here (wave) asking for assistance. I temporarily disabled my Bluetooth in Device Manager because I don't know if it's safe to have it constantly on if I'm not using it. I've seen on here there are other people who have had the same problem but I didn't see a definite solution on the couple threads I read. Also just before disabling my Bluetooth I ran HP s... A:Bluetooth and Wifi no on/off switch in PC settings

Hi summerbear. I can try something that works on my MSI laptop (a great brand BTW), and I think most of todays' laptops.
Usualy there's an allin1 manager to all of the options you mentioned, and it is accessible through the start line in windows (at the bottom). Most of the time you don't see all the icons of programs running, and there's a little upward arrow in far right side of the start line, that if clicked reveals sound, storage, and allin1 managers installed in your system. In my laptop this manager program that includes control over volume, wi-fi, and bluetooth, is called SCM. I'm not sure that HP's has the exact same program but there's supposed to be some type of allin1. If you don't find any try typing "Bluetooth" in windows search (through the start button), and shutting down wi-fi is also possible by clicking the network bars in the far right, thus accessing the list of nearby wi-fi networks, choosing the one you're connected to, and clicking "disconnect".
Hope I helped, goodluck.
Amit.

Hello @Banti2?, Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I read your post about the Windows 10 upgrade, and wanted to assist you!You can use the Go back to an earlier build option, in your System Settings: HP Notebook PCs - Upgrading to Windows 10Once you are back to your original Operating System, check to see if you are experiencing the same issue. If not, then you may consider holding off on the Windows 10 upgrade for a few weeks, until drivers can be updated. However, if you are able to get the WiFi and Bluetooth to work, using an external device, then you can continue to use Windows 10.  Keep in mind, that the rollback option is only good for the first 28 days, after installing Windows 10. Please let me know if this information was helpful by clicking the thumbs up below.Regards!

Ralink Bluetooth 4.0 is the hardware i have (i think?) It worked the first time i used it several years ago, but only provided a terrible sound quality for my headphones. After that first use, it never worked again. Last year I went to best buy to have the geek squad fix it, but that didn't work either. Earlier today, i decided to try downloading updated drivers to get it to work. Hello,  I purchased my HP Notebook 15-ba100na two weeks ago. Until this evening I had Bluetooth capability (which is listed on the box as one of the features and which did work because I had actually used it with wireless headphones) but Microsoft have extremely helpfully updated my operating system today and now everything Bluetooth related has completely disappeared. There is no option anywhere in the Notification area. No results if I search in the start menu and no mention anywhere in my Settings. I have looked at the Device Manager and there is no mention anywhere of Bluetooth. Nothing in Network Connections or Adapater Settings. I find a bunch of files if I search the File Manager for Bluetooth but that's all I can find. I know I should probably be asking Microsoft this but are you able to help please? It's infuriating that I do not have Bluetooth anymore. Also an option for VPN seems to have appeared, which I don't believe I had before. I can't see a VPN ever being any use to me, what a **bleep**ty trade off.

1.) Uninstall everything that is Bluetooth-related that is listed in Programs & Features.
2.) Uninstall all Bluetooth-related drivers listed in the Device Manager.
3.) Restart the computer. Bluetooth will be reinstalled, and you can reinstall the programs that you removed from Programs & Features.

I have a stabe WLAN connection, although I'm surround by competing Access Points (neigbours, you know...) My Y900s works fine in this environment even with multiple Bluetooth devices (mice, smartphones, media player, other ThinkPads, etc.) within a couple of metres of it. I've also travelled extensively with it and never encountered the situation you describe.

Perhaps a change in your router's WiFi channel will fix this. I realize your choices may be limited due to competing APs but it's worth trying just to see if it has any effect.

Also are you using 2.4GHz WiFi or the new 5GHz frequencies? That too may address the issue, assuming your router has that capability.

P.S. I assume you've installed the latest Bluetooth and WLAN drivers

I had to update my bluetooth drivers (Intel) before I could finally get sound to come out of my new UE Mini Boom speakers.

But I still have a problem. If I am watching a Youtube video in a web browser (doesn't seem to matter which) and then switch to a video in VLC or Win Media Player, the sound from the new source doesn't play on the speakers. I have to power the speaker off and then back on and then it will pick up the new audio.

When I had a USB speaker the source-audio switched without any problem. Are there any settings that I can update, or should I just accept that a bluetooth speaker was a terrible idea for Win7?

A:Bluetooth speakers (UE Mini Boom) don't switch to new audio source

Youtube uses the Adobe Flash Player. VLC/WMP or whatever media player does not and thus different audio source. One thing to check, that may or may not make a difference, is if you have Stereo Mix set as the default recording device. This can affect sound playback. Stereo Mix is found in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound panel, Recording section.

Are you near a network you can connect to? Go to library, most of them have free Wi-Fi.
Also you can try to activate the card manualy. Go to Control Panel > Network Connections > and right click of your Card and "enable"
There is a low chance of this happening, but led might have burned out. Let us now how it went...

Hi guys

I have a problem and i dont know what to do. The problem is that now i cant activate the wireless adapter on my laptop. I mean if i try to do it in the keyboard shortcut it doesn?t works.

I?ve tryed to re-install the network adapter drivers but it didn?t work.

If i do the ipconfig command line it says that "wireless network adapter" is turned off.
I think the service in the administrative tools is running as well.

I don?t know what to do... can it be a corrupted dll or something ?

Thank you in advance guys

PS: I have windows 7 home - 64 bits

Well for starters how about you tell us about your system specs?

If it is a laptop there is a key combo that turns on the wifi device

Hey to TSG!!

I need help in this one. My Bluetooth used to capture others (with no password) wireless networks but if I do extensive use on it, it will not work. For one wireless network, it gets connected but nothing appears and for another, it doesnt get connected at all though it used to. They all are in low signal but they used to work fine!

I dont know what to do right now. Is my bluetooth screwed up? I used to download large files (more than 500 mb) before but now it doesnt get connected.

Please tell me what to do firstly!

Hi everyone!
Firsto of all i'm sorry for my bad english!! I hope I can explain myself well enough to make you understand what's my problem!

I have a notebook Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1655G, and i've installed Vista Ultimatex64! I know that officially my notebook doesn't support this OS, but I wanted to try it! All seems to work fine except 2 things...
1) My touchpad works fine for 1 minute and then it stops, and I can only reboot the PC or use the mouse
2) The biggest problem a.k.a. how to activate the wireless adapter! Under XP I've only to press a button and it works correctly, but under Vista it doesn't seem to work properly... well it doesn't seems to work at all!! The wireless is a broadcom 4318, and I know it can be activated also via software but I really don't know how to do it! I've passed the last 2 days looking for the solution but I haven't found nothing usefull...

Hope someone can help me!

Thank's a lot!

If it's activated by something like a Function button, you'll most likely need to go to the website of the company that built your laptop and download the drivers for it. The same might apply for your touchpad situation, too. I had the same problem when I had to reinstall my OS for my VAIO, once I got the right driver, the function keys started working again.

i have a notebook, and the keyboard broke, i buyed a usb keyboard.
the key of wireless connection dont work and the new usb keyboard do not have such key

there is a way to activate wireless by the software or key combination in a regular keyboard?

A:Activate wireless by the software

Check the driver software that is loaded for your wireless card. Most of them have an enable/disable option.

Check on eBay for a new keyboard. I've gotten replacement laptop keyboards for $10, and they are usually very simple to replace.

A while back my faithful old IBM ThinkPad became very slow under the weight of too many applications and updates so I replaced it. Now I have decided I would like to revive it mainly as a games machine for my young grandson, so I wiped everything off it and reinstalled Windows XP Home Editon (it previously had XP Pro).
It used to access the net via a wireless LAN card (IEEE802.11b/g) and this worked fine. I am now having difficulty reinstalling this device. I thought XP would just pick it up but it doesn't. I tried downloading a driver onto a memory stick using my new laptop but that doesn't work either.
Any suggestions?

I have installed a wireless card on a Compaq Presario 2200 laptop and tested it out with an antenna from a Toshiba A100 and an HP V6000 to no avail. (No networks found).

It also shows 'check to make sure the wireless switch is on'. This laptop has only got a plastic cover over where the switch would normally be, so is there any way to get the machine to use the new wireless without having to find a little switch for it?

Cheers

Blair

I currently use an AT&T wireless pc card for my internet connection. It is a Sierra Wireless Aircard 881. I am using it now on a Toshiba Satellite which uses Windows XP. I just bought an Acer Aspire 5715Z/5315 Series computer which uses Vista. I downloaded my communication manager and tried to use my wireless card in it. This light on the PC card will not come on and I can't get any signal. The computer has WIFI and I am able to get online but only if I go and sit in front of a WIFI hotspot. I have never used Vista before and don't know if there if something I am not doing right or just not doing. I have used my PC card on several different computers but they all used Windows XP. I am sorta computer literate but have no clue what to do. Can you please help. Also, please use laymens terms as I am not an expert. Thank you.

Did you follow the instructions and install the software?

Don't confuse your wireless broadband connection provided by AT&T with WiFi which is wireless networking. They're two separate technologies and connections that use two different sets of hardware.

You might want to make a call to AT&T just to verify that the card and software is compatible with Vista and ask if there's anything extra you need to do to get it to work.

Hi.

My DLINK DWL-G122 wireless network adapter is working fine. However, the adapter is activated only AFTER you logon to the machine. So the machine is without an IP address until the logon process is completed, after which the card is activated and it gets an IP via DHCP.

Is there a way to change this behaviour of Windows 2000 and XP so that the adapter is activated BEFORE the logon prompt is displayed?

Regards.
Jano
