Q: legion y730 drops in ghz

hey everyone, well. i will lay off ALL the previous problems that the laptop came with (such as an unplugged touchpad, a broken charger and an absolutely horrific repairs i got).my cpu seems to work at only 0.79 ghz and doesnt go up. rarely it goes to 1.6 ghz. when unplugged.when i plug it in it seems to work around 2.2 which seems normal but as soon as i start putting some load it just drops down. only thing which solves it for a cuple of minutes is if i go unto bios and load default settings then boot into windows, only then i get the boost speed of 4 ghz. temps are pretty normal (laptop is repasted witharctic mx4).alldrivers installed windows 10.what can i do guys really dont know.....

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

So. After I wake up the laptop performance in games is so poor. I suppose the laptop starts to use Intel integrated graphics card instead of nVidia's one. But i'm not sure.Performance drop for example on Apex legends from 100 FPS to 20 FPS in the main menu.I use 430.39 driver from official nVidia site.

Lenovo Legion Legion Y520  running windows 10 I am connected to a Sony TV by HDMI.  When I use the TV as the only display or as an extended display the image is downscaled to 720p.  If I clone the display from my laptop it will render full 1080p. All of the settings I can find appear to be correct.  The laptop says that it is displaying 1920x1080.  I would like to get the TV to work as primary display.  I know it is not the TV.  It can display the cloned desktop and works properly for game consoles also using HDMI.  I have tried using different HDMI ports on the TV.

I can not seem to find where I would download Windows 7 Drivers for my Y730.   When I go to Support, Download and Drivers and go through the Model selecion there are only Windows Vista Drivers.  I find this very disappointing as you are now supposively shipping these laptops with Windows 7 installed.  I would like to be able to download the new drivers as well as the support applications that have been reworked to properly function with Windows 7. Can Anyone Point me in the direction for getting what I'm looking for?  Thanks.

Hi new here. Bought a y730 a month or so back and worked great until recently. After getting all the updates, the fingerprint scanner no longer works. Seems to be a fairly common issue? I read here and tried all the fixes (tried to update the intel software and also the drivers for the reader) and still nothing. I called support and they were essentially worthless. Rolled my computer back and finally suggested I re-install windows after that did not work. It seems as if this is related to the 1803 update?  Does anyone have this working and or a procedure that works? If I install the later updates to the fingerprint driver I get error code 10 (device won't start I think?) and the intel security update that was listed refuses to install (it says both there is an older and newer version during its install).  Any advice is appreciated.

Hello Everyone  I just need help with my Y730 15inch model wifi card. I saw someone replace that as Intel AC 9560 on their Y530. So I thought that should work on my laptop too. I replaced with 8560 once. But I could not find that card in my driver manager. I mean somehow there should be a device logo with yellow thing there, right? (I did not install the software driver at that time.) Therefore, I come to ask if anyone has an idea what should I do first? I mean, should I install the driver before I replace it physically? Or, should I replace it first, install driver and reboot? I am still not 100% sure Intel AC9560 will work on this laptop. Also, I want to ask I do not need to reinstall windows when I replace the wifi card, right?

A:Y730-15 WiFi Card replace

Most laptops have a whitelist of cards that can be installed, so while you laptop may support the AC 9560, it would have to be a Lenovo branded one to work, which for the Y730 is FRU P/N:  01AX768 Here is one that is compatible with your system.https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-9560NGW-bt5-0-Card-For-Lenovo-01AX768-hp-937263... Once you install the card into your system, you just need to install the driver below and it should be detected Intel WLAN Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Legion Y730-15ICH, Legion Y730-17ICHhttps://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/mdlg03af08rb.exe Cheers,

It seems Lenovo doesn't even remember (or is playing revisionist history tricks) that they made the Ideapad Y730.  Looking around the support pages, NOTHING will turn up any reference to the Y730.  There are no drivers, etc to be found  on this site.  I have tried searching by the two different serial numbers taht show up in BIOS, and they can't manage to find themby those either.  And forget about their "automatic" lookup utility; it will sit there spinning for ***HOURS*** (yes, I left it to run overnight once) and can't manage to even START finding anything.  Their site is severely broken.Even trying the so-called-"support" line, the "tech" couldn't find the machine by S/N either, and kept insisting it couldn't be that number.  Well, if it's the wrong number (on the sticker *as well as* the BIOS), then it's Lenovo that got that wrong. So what's the story?  Are they trying to deny the product?  Did they fubar this one worse than usual that they have to pretend it never existed?

Hi Everyone, I have a Legion Y730. I spent days searching for an answer and was not able to find a solution that worked until now. It seems that this was something that many people had posted about over the years and the solution was very difficult to find if at all. I wanted to share with everyone so that they may find the answer in one place. After reformatting my drive recently and freshly installing Windows 10, my F4, F8, F10-11 secondary functions stopped working. There was no solution anywhere until I saw one post in a random forum that stated that he had Lenovo Utility disabled in his startup and needed it to be enabled for them to work... Low and behold, I found this driver: https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/downloads/ds500481 It is not automatically installed with Lenovo Vantage, or Windows Update, or even DriverEasy (which I have the pro version). Install this, restart, and all of your function keys work once again! I hope this helps whoever is trying to search for a solution to this once and for all!

Looking for a parts list or service manual (presuming it has part numbers) for the display/video cable/harness for an IdeaPad Y730, model 4053 (not the completely unrelated Y730 "Legion" series; why would Lenovo feel the need to re-use model numbers). The video is intermittent; on extremely rare occasions the LCD will start working, then next time it will be off again.  Video works off of the external/VGA port, and I'll notice if I connect to it remotely with TeamViewer when there's no monitor attached, device manager won't show any dsplay devices, which leads me to think it's the cable.  Definitely not an OS problem because a Linux bootable DVD will show the same symptoms.

Greetings, Yesterday, my game crashed during a match of CS:GO and afterwards, all my games have low FPS. I tried a clean install of windows in the SSD partition (my games are located at the 1 TB HDD), reinstall drivers, battery options, etc. Nothing worked.  The Lenovo Diagnostics Tool reported that everything is working as intended (see report attached). Nevertheless, the FurMark test ran with 6 FPS and all my games are unplayed. In task manager says that the Geforce 1050 is in use, but the memory usage is always low (check one example attached). Please help me, what else can I do to fix this?Ask me if you need more information. Thanks.

Hi there, I recently bought the Legion Y720 which came with a 256gb SSD and a 2TB HDD. Everything was working fine for a week, and then suddenly the HDD was no longer detected. The first time it happened, everything was back to normal after a shut down but now it's just completely gone. The strange thing is that if I open up This PC straight after startup, e drive appears with a different icon, and then disappears again when This PC has finished loading. I can't find the HDD on Device Manager or BIOS either. Please help. Thanks in advance.  EDIT: just realised that this is in the wrong forums section, sorry! Not sure how to delete this post, but I have reposted in the correct section.

Hello, So recently I was having issus with my laptop (Y520IKBN80WK) and I decided to reset it to factory settings. I did this, because in my oblivious nature, having been an owner of a desktop previously, I updated drivers left and right without paying much attention. New equals better in my mind. Up to the point where my system got really unstable, and I started to read online, where people where saying you should only use lenovo certified drivers. Okay so I reset my baby to factory settings. I installed no additional drivers myself. Now, I go to Y520 Lenovo supported drivers and I compare the recommended drivers to the drivers I actually have (using Speccy). I noticed in particular, that my BIOS version is 4KCN44WW, but the recommended one is 4KCN40WW. The recommended Intel 630 driver is 22.20.16.4836.b, but I have the 23.20.16.4905 version. There are more differences but I think those are my main "concerns". I don't notice anymore bad behaviour from my system (it's only been one day), but I keep wondering, would my performance improve by rolling back those drivers to the recommended version? How come they are installed on factoy defaults, if they are not recommended in the first place? Have a nice day folks,Luc
