Precision 7510 USB port problem, monitor problem and Intel Rapid Storage problem

Q: Precision 7510 USB port problem, monitor problem and Intel Rapid Storage problem

Hi,
I need some help and if anyone can help me I will be very appreciated. My system is Windows 7 Ultimate X64.
1. USB port.
I used to have a Lenovo thinkpad W520, the USB ports can still provide power and the devices connected to the port won't be disconnected after the PC turning into sleep mode even power off, but everytime when I wake up my Precision 7510, the keyboad need a long wait to be reconnected and all of the external hard drives are reconnected too (Auto play also pops out). And I cannot charge my cellphone even if the precision is in sleeping mode with power connected to it.

2. External Monitor,
I get a Dell P2417H monitor. I connect the monitor to my PC through Display port.
Then I use the Screen Resolution to Identify the monitor. I then use "Identify" to identify the monitor, at first both of the monitors show (1\2), which is correct because windows is set to duplicate the monitors. Then I selected Show desk top only on 1 and then "Identify" the monitors. Both of the monitors show a big 1. Then I selected show desk top only on 2 and then "Identify" the monitors. Both of the monitors show a big 2.(My p2417H is actually 2)
Then I select apply so only p2417H shows the display and close the laptop's lid. (I set the power options, so that the PC won't be turn off when I close the lid or after a long deactivation)
As long as I close the lid and turn the laptop into sleep mode and wake it up. The monitor settings will go back to duplicate the displays.
Also, I miss the days when I was using W520. After I connect it to external monitor and close the lid, I don't need to open the lid and wake it up by pressing power button, I just need to click on my mouse or my keyboard to wake it up without any settings. Is there a way Dell precision can run in a same way?
3. Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Management Console
In device management, I see an unknown device. I am guessing it might be something related to the hard drive.
And the only driver I am not able to install is the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Management Console.
When I am installing the driver, the error pops out says Fatal Error during installation.
The log is listed below.

Preferred Solution: Precision 7510 USB port problem, monitor problem and Intel Rapid Storage problem

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Precision 7510 USB port problem, monitor problem and Intel Rapid Storage problem

Some of what you're experiencing may be due to the different hardware than you had in the older system - however, one BIG possibility:
Windows 7 does not fully support the power management features of the Skylake CPU and chipset in your system. Even if Windows 7 is correctly installed, there will be missing features (Microsoft never implemented the advanced Skylake power management features in anything older than Windows 8).
You'd likely experience some of the same issues with a Skylake Lenovo system.
The Skylake platform in your system WILL run Windows 7 (it's the last Intel platform that will; the newly released Kaby Lake won't run it at all), but it won't implement all the Skylake power management features it has no drivers for (and never will have drivers for). Unless you're completely stuck with Windows 7, most of the issue -- or all of them -- will go away if you move to Windows 10. If you don't do it now, this is the last hardware you'll be buying -- as above, Windows 7 is history as of the release of the new Kaby Lake platform.

Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit
Gateway Laptop NV55C (I would upgrade ut currently not working so a major hardware upgrade is gonna have to wait
I've got the latest SATA AHCI Driver for my system according to Gateway.
As for the latest Intel RST software/drivers, I have version 9.6.2.1001 on the IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe file, which is the same version as the SATA drivers I found on the Gateway site.

Lately, the last few weeks, I have been having problem with my DVD drive disappearing.
In the Intel RST app, its shows my HD on Internal Port 0; and Internal Port 1 as empty.
I've only just checked this status after my DVD disappeared.
I'm guessing that my DVD is on Port 1 because I get a dialog popping up saying something about Port 1 being empty. Then my DVD drive is gone.

If I reboot, it comes back.
And it may stay for 5 minutes or 5 days (or more), then the DVD just disappears with the Intel RST popup.

I may not be doing anything particular, youtube, working (EagleCad and other Circuit board and schematic design software, and related utilities), general web browsing. Nothing special and nothing I haven't been doing for years.

I do Windows updates on a fairly regular basis (At least once every 2 week if not once a week)
This does kind of have me wondering if a recent Windows update broke something.
It would not be the first time I have seen that happen.
And as a side note, although its been 7+ years, I used to work in IT repairing pretty much everything, so I'm comfortable ge... Read more

A:Intel Rapid Storage Technology problem : Empty port problem

I just rebooted and here is that same system report. I only included the Port 1 info. All the rest is the same:

Disk on port 1
Port location: Internal
Status: Normal
Size: 0 GB
Serial number: UK71 857857
Model: MATSHITADVD-RAM UJ890AS
Firmware: 1.00
System disk: No
Password protected: No
Disk data cache: Disabled
Native command queuing: No
SATA transfer mode: Generation 1
Physical sector size: 0 Bytes
Logical sector size: 0 Bytes

I will try to get a screen cap of the popup message ASAP if I can.

Here we go:
It lasted 1 hour 12 minutes
Last time, it lasted about 5 minutes.

Hello everyone, I'm a new user and I have kind of a weird problem. I tried researching my problem but I have came to no real answer on google or on sevenforums.com so i decided to create a new thread.

I must apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge when it comes to computers but im trying to learn. Anyways..

My brother and I installed a our new Seagate Barracuda XT 2TB harddrive to my computer a few days ago and everything installed great and worked just fine. However, my brother decided to use the Intel Rapid Storage Technology feature not really understanding what it does.. He was thinking that a simple backup of the computer could be created and the information could be placed on our secondary HDD. So he (I think) turned the second disk into a recovery disk or something.. but we cant access the HDD in the normal way anymore.

So basically there is an Array 0000 and Volume 0000 (RAID 0) now displayed now and we simply want to bring back normal functionality to the harddrive (and if possible, recover any data that was on it.. if not, whatever).

If anyone could help me or needs more information I'd be happy to provide. Thank you in advance.

Has anyone had any issues with the Precision 7510 only outputting through one DisplayPort output on the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator? Our organization recently started to introduce Precision 7510 units to our employees, and we're finding that they will only output to one single monitor connected via DisplayPort through the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicators - even though there are two monitors connected into the two DisplayPort outputs on the E-Port Plus APR. If the monitors are connected via DVI, the Precision 7510 is able to output to both of them through the E-Port Plus APR. We have tried Precision M4800, Latitude E7450, and Latitude E7470 units in these E-Port Plus APR's with two monitors connected into the two DisplayPort outputs - and they all work correctly. The Precision 7510 units have the NVIDIA Quadro M1000M video cards, and the E-Port Plus APR's are connected to either a pair of P2417 monitors or a pair of U2414 monitors.

I have a 7510 with a 512GB nvme drive installed. I have been attempting to install a secondary hard disk. The first drive I tried to install was a HGST 1TB 7200 RPM drive. No matter what I have tried the drive will not show up in BIOS and is not recognized in Windows 10 Disk Management. I have another laptop (HP 8760W Elitebook) and this laptop sees the drive just fine. So I tried another drive exactly like the first and it will not see this drive either. So I decided to try a third drive that I have which is a Samsung 1TB 5400 RPM drive and this drive works just fine, no problems. I have tried removing and reinserting them several times but it will not see the HGST drives. Does anyone on the forum have any suggestions? Again, both of the drives that the Dell will not recognize work just fine on my other laptop.

Thanks

I updated the Rapid Storage Technology (RST) driver ver 9.6.0.1014 driver for the ICH10R chip (controls a Raid 1 array for data) to ver 10.1.0.1008. In the process of updating, I received an error message "An error occurred while registering one or more components. Setup will exit".

I checked device manager and the proper driver version number is installed (i.e., ver 10.1.0.1008). But, when I reboot, Rapid Storage Technology is not launched. It has to be manually launched from the tray. And, the version of the RST console is the old version number, i.e., ver 9.6.0.1014, not the new version.

How to I resolve this? Do I delete the Raid 1 array, uninstall and reinstall RST?

Thanks,
sandoz

BTW, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate-64 bit

A:Problem Updating Rapid Storage Technology

Hello Sandoz,

You might see if running the 10.1.0.1008 Intel? Rapid Storage Technology installation file again may be able to repair it for you.

Hope this helps,

Hi. I have a HP Envy running windows 10 1607 and when I go to install the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver (ver.15.2.0.1020), the icon no longer appears in the system tray. The program is listed in Programs and Features, and when I manually open the user interface under the Intel program files and look at the settings, the "Show Icon in tray" is selected. Also, in the previous version of the driver, the program was loaded at startup and had an entry in the startup log. There is no such entry in this new driver version. And when I install the new driver, there is no confirmation screen of anything after selecting the install button...only a window that flashes so fast you can't see what it says, and then nothing. I reboot and nothing seems to change. It's not acting like a normal driver installation package. I know about rolling back or using a previous driver, however, but this is the HP driver for the 1607 version of Win10, which I have. Also, everything worked fine with the previous driver, no problems, and I HAVE updated the BIOS to the latest version. Anyone else having this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Basically the automatic dell updater informed me there was a BIOS update available, so I ran it and let it do its thing updating the firmware etc.
Once the laptop restarted there was an icon on the bottom of the screen with a yellow exclamation mark over it, upon opening it I was taken to an intel rapid storage technology screen. Here it told me that the system was reporting one or more events and that data may be at risk.
The storage system view on the right side of this screen highlighted the PCIe SSD at risk with an exclamation mark. I didn't know what to do so I restarted the laptop and now after opening the intel rapid storage technology / SMART screen it seems fine and has a green tick over the SSD where there was previously a yellow exclamation mark.
I've backed up the ssd but now I have no idea what to do. I've read that the warning means the hard drive will fail sooner or later? but now its showing as functioning normally. I'm a little disappointed as the machine is not even a year old yet and I don't like the idea that the hard drive is going to fail in the near future.
Could anybody offer me some help as what to do? anything to check the condition of the SSD? replace immediately?

A:Dell xps 15 9550 - internal rapid storage technology problem?

If you only saw it once and it went away after a reboot, then that was probably a glitch.  If SMART had predicted an impending failure, that would not be "cleared" even temporarily just with a reboot.  I also don't think SSDs use SMART in the first place, but I could be wrong about that.  I actually just configure my systems to use AHCI rather than RAID so I don't use Rapid Storage at all.

Kind of a multi part question here.
I have a Precision 7510 and a TB16 Dock. I have the quadro m2000 graphics card. When I have my dock connected I connect a display port cable from my dock' s display port out to my dell 4k monitor. The max resolution is either FHD at 60 hrz or 3840x2160 at 30hrz. The 30hrz option is not acceptable for me. I end up trying it with a mini display port to the dock with a display port to the monitor adapter cable that came with the monitor. That gives me the full 3840x2160 resolution.
Two questions here.
1 why am I not getting proper output from the full size display port on my dock and is there something that can be done to correct it as I think I should be able to connect another 4k monitor and was thinking about getting another of the dell ones but don't want to unless I know it will work.
2 I see a lot of info on the different revisions of both display port and hdmi. I think the latest display port revision is 1.4 or something and  hdmi is 2.1. What version is my machine able to support? In looking for help online with question 1 I found info that makes me believe it could be related to what version of display port is supported by my machine. That is why I am looking for that info.
Thank you
Matt

Are there any limits to the maximum amount of RAM ?.I go back and ask, because the BIOS has such limited options, other brands of equipment can easily adjust this, there a way to display all options of the BIOS?

I have a refurbished Precision 7510 with Windows 7 64bit installed (UK warranty until May 2019).
NONE of the USB ports are recognised by the OS evn though each time a device is plugged in the device powers up. The OS does not respond AT ALL. Device manager reports that the Universal Serial bus controller has found no driver.
The Intel USB3.0 extensible host controller driver (ver 4.0.6.60) does not seem to work and CAN NOT be uninstalled from control panel or anywhere else.
This laptop must have worked at some stage as the same model is still on sale online with the same OS (AND a Windows 10 pro License included). Is there ANY WAY to roll back the drivers or install a factory fresh copy of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (or Windows 10 Pro 64 bit if it's on offer) so that I have USB ports that actually work.
Also the Dell command update repeatedly installs the Intel rapid storage technology F6 (14.8.9.1053) and Intel management engine interface driver (11.0.0.1167) for some reason.
I am going to try and boot from a live usb image of Ubuntu 14.04 to see if the USB ports are recognised and actually functional.
I can suply my service tag if required.

I have a Dell Precision 7510 laptop with the TB16 dock.
I have the computer connected to two external display out of the dock.  1 - is a 4k Dell display connected to the dock with a mini display port to display port cable at the monitor.  2 is a dell FHD monitor connected via HDMI
When I first turn on the computer or restart the computer the display appear correctly.  The 4k in 4k the FHD in FHD.  I leave my computer on while I am in the office and if I run out to a meeting or something I have it go to sleep after 10-15 minutes.  When I move the mouse it wakes.  What is not right is when it wakes the 4k display goes to 1920x1080.  I open the NVIDIA control panel and it sees the display, but it does not give me the 4k resolution as a usable resolution.  The highest it goes is to 1920x1080.  I then have to restart to get everything back to how it was.  This is very annoying as the main reason I have the 4k display is the high resolution I need for graphic design and it really causes issues.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening or what to do to stop it?

I have enabled RAID on my HDD and in the BIOS and finally put in a SSD 120gb that works. Now I don't know how to actually run the Intel Rapid Storage utility that I did do once before.

I downloaded the files from Microsoft but like so many Windows 7 (64-bit) files there's no instruction of where to put them. A self installation would've been handy.

So does anyone know how to set up IRS inside Windows 7? It's something to do with Administrative Tools but there's nothing showing in that menu when I go to Disk Management.

Sounds simple but everyone seems to assume you set this thing up automatically.

This is the setup as it shows from boot up.

I managed to find the setup program on this link https://downloadcenter.intel.com/De...apid+Storage+Technology+(Intel®+RST)&lang=eng

After reboot I now get a separate Intel Rapid Storage Technology item on my menu but I can't see any command to accelerate the main C: drive using the SSD.

Anything I need to do extra?

A:Intel Rapid Storage

I now get this screen using the program:

You can see it's BLANK!

What am I doing wrong as there are no commands to accelerate the main HDD?

I am following instructions on Intel website to replace the drives.  Part of the process involves starting the Rapid Storage software in Windows.
The problem I am having is that when I try to start the software in Windows I get an error message that says the software is already running and cannot be started again.
any ideas?

If it is Raid 1, cannot you just replace one drive at a time as you would do if one failed?
The intel utility sits in the hidden icons on the taskbar.

Hi,

I've finished installing drivers for my laptop and I really have no idea about Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Do I need it? Help!

A:What is Intel Rapid Storage Technology? Do I need it?

Hi

This is mainly used for RAID setup and management but you can use it to manage your SATA HDD's.

With the driver revision change of the latest W7 compatible storage management driver has come a name change as well from
Intel Matrix Storage Manager to Intel? Rapid Storage Technology with new driver version v9.5.0.1037.
I've already installed it & it really improved my HD performance with NCQ enabled compared to drivers v8.9.0.1023.
It now is faster in AHIC mode on a single drive compared to IDE mode with this new driver so I'm very pleased with it.

My full system specs are below in my post. (bottom lefthand corner)
Here's a few screenshots of the new interface & HD Tune performance benchmark with AHIC (single drive) & NCQ enabled.

You can check it out here if you like...

I have two Dell XPS 8700 desktops. They are both about a year old. A few days ago, I installed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update on both of them. That seemed to go OK. I used both pcs for a little while after the update finished. When I shut the first machine down, there was already an update. I chose Update and shut down. The next day I was on the other pc and after I used it for a few hours, suddenly a program wouldn't open. I finally restarted and as I might have expected, there was an update being installed. (I've had that same senario happen other times so I wan't surprised, ie, things quite working normally and then you find Microsoft has pushed out an update that requires a reboot but doesn't tell you.) But then the trouble began. The update took awhile and then the login screen came up, but every time I tried to enter my password, the screen would freeze and it would restart. After about 5 repeats of this, I got a black screen that said Starting Automatic Recovery and then it went to a pale blue screen that said that WRkrn.sys was corrupt or missing and I needed a disk or a system administrator. I couldn't remember if I had created a recovery disk or where I had put it. I ran to the other computer to create one, but when I started it up, the exact same thing happened. I called Microsoft and they wanted me to start them up in Safe mode, but I couldn't. So then they had me create an ISO image. I am sure it was of the latest build. I tried to repa... Read more

I built a new system for a relative using the H87-G43 MSI board. I have set up a SSD 64 GB to be used as a Caching disk using Intel's Rapid Storage Technology.

I followed the set up procedure which required a BIOS change to RAID Mode before the OS was installed. So I have one 500 GB drive that is accelerated and the 64 GB SSD that is being used as the caching drive.

No errors or BSOD's when booting, I had to enable the drive in the Intel console for this(it sees the drive just fine) to work. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology(Intel SRT) really improves boot times over just using the mechanical drive. It is not a performance issue I am having just a reporting issue I think.

The question I have is about how Windows is reporting the drives in Device manager and computer management.

Windows 7 shows the information below in bold.

In device manager only the 500 GB drive is shown and it is shown as a SCSI device.
In computer management only the 500 GB drive is shown.
Both drives are shown in the Intel management console for this technology.

The computer is running fine and zippy, I am just a bit concerned about the 500GB drive (SATA) being reported as SCSI. Funny I downloaded SPECCY and it shows it as a SCSI drive as well using a 40 pin cable.

Any help, thoughts, ideas, or experience with this technology that could enlighten me would be very helpful.

Thanks

I was having a problem yesterday... my PC keep shutting down. Finally I got it running and received an error message that my system was recovering from a serious problem caused by an interaction between Windows and Intel Storage Driver. I have P4 processor- 845G Chipset Memory 82845G/GE/GL/GV, I/O Controller 82801DB(1CH4), Windows Home SP2. After several reboots, the system seems stable - but I'm sure that must be a temporary situation. What should I do to repair this problem?

Hi there, after finaly having done the Raid installation and acceleration in the Intel Rapid Storage Manager with MBR partitioning , I noticed, logical, im not able to boot in UEFI anymore. Before that I tried every possible solution to get Rapid Storage with UEFI and GPT partitioning working but failed. Is it even possible to get Rapid Storage on GPT partitions working? The "accelerationbutton" never showed up. -Clean Install with driver implementation while Win10 Setup-Waiting for all drivers beeing installed-Chipset Update  I also noticed that Rapid STORAGE needs 14,6 GB of my 22GB SSD-Cache. Rapid START Technology needs 8,1GB (8GB RAM)  for the hybernation partition. Is there a work around, since 8,1GB+14,6GB exceed the space of the 22GBs of my SSD? For example using less than 8,1GB for the hybernation Partition? Because with MBR and no Rapid Start installed boot time is still very long. Does my  Caching-System (Intel Rapid STORAGE) needs time to establish a fast boot, or is it only accelerating read and write speed while using the OS? Is Windows Fast Boot working without UEFI? So finaly: Do I have to stay with MBR if I want to use Rapid STORAGE Technology?

I'm a first time poster and I hope that this thread is the proper place to post my problem.

I set up a RAID 0 array with the Intel RST of 2 750-gb hard drives. One of the drives has my Windows 7 installation on it and I am using that one to migrate into the RAID array. In the Storage System View screen the two drives of 750-gb each appear but the RAID 0 "Volume_0000" only shows a size of 750-gb.

Can anyone clue me in as to where the problem is?

thanks,

I had it installed previously on my computer, but it was in Program Files x86, so I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall, but am greeted by a blank install box that I cannot read. The only visible option is the OK button which cancels the install.

This is what I am downloading.

File name:
iata_enu_10.8.0.1003.exe
Version:10.8.0.1003
Download
Date:11/11/2011 Status:Latest
Size:6.89 MB Language:English

I am running Win 7 64 bit on a P6TD Deluxe board with my main drive a CORSAIR CMFSSD-128GBG2D

Am I downloading the wrong installer? Where have I gone wrong.....

Please advise.

A:need Intel® Rapid Storage Technology setup for 64 bit

You downloaded the correct Intel software, iata_enu_10.8.0.1003.exe
Intel? Rapid Storage Technology installs in Program Files (x86) for are 64 but system because the GUI (control panel software) is 32 bit.
The drivers, however are 64 bit.

I have an Aspire S5, with a 128GB SSD. The SSD is seen in the laptop as two 64GB drives, and is configured in RAID0 as default. At one point the RAID failed, and I tried to factory reset but the laptop wouldn't get into the recovery-mode (pressing ALT+F10 and all variations of ALT/CTRL/F-buttons) so I reinstalled manually with a USB. In BIOS, both drives are seen as 64GB, but in Windows only the one drive I installed on is seen as 64GB, the other one is still seen as the RAID-drive (128GB). It's not usable since I have to format it first but I don't dare to do that. I can see that the recoverypartition is still on this, but since RAID0 being RAID0, I'm assuming that all data on this ghost-partition is not usable in any way. When starting the laptop I get the Intel Rapid Storage Technology prompt (press CTRL+I), and it's saying that the RAID has failed, listing both drives (partitions), one of them as a member and the other one (the one I reinstalled Windows on) not as a member. So I deleted that configuration and thought I'd recreate it and reinstall Windows again. But when I deleted the configuration I can no longer access Intel Rapid Storage Technology at all, the prompt never comes up! It just boots straight into Windows. Pressing CTRL+I at startup gives nothing, probably because IRST isn't loading at all... I'll assume that the recoverypartition is gone forever since I already reinstalled on one of the partitions, but I'd like to at least get RAID work... So, I built my system using this SSD caching. It works really well. My hard drive is 1 terrabyte and my Cache drive is a 60 gig ssd. Lately, while playing Star Wars the Old repubic, I have been 'freezing' in game. This freezing completely locks the computer. I run Teamspeak and I can still push to talk and my friends can still talk and I can talk to them via this during the 'freeze'. What is odd is Cnt/alt/delete, will not bring up the control panel to allow me to kill the game. I am just stuck.

Normally I would say this is a Video driver issue. I did cleanly reinstall the latest Nvidia driver and this will still occur sometimes.

Now, when I disable RST, I never get the problem. I can play and play and play. When I reactivate RST to 'maximized', I can still play but its like a timer. After about 2 or 3 days the Freeze will happen.

So my RST question is, {has the driver been updated since 2012} (when I built my computer) and is it possible to update this driver now without having to re-install Windows and all my programs?

If I am left with having to re-install I am likely to just fork over the money and just buy a 300 gig SSD and keep Windows and 1 or 2 of my favorite games on it and use the Terrabyte drive for Music/videos and storage.

The PC in question is Sandy Bridge based system with one SSD and an HDD. Is it necessary to install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology that installs a service with the same name?

I am trying to get rid of the following error message, event ID 9, in the system log:

Quote:
The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period.

I've searched for this error and this link has a pretty good explanation; quote:

Quote:
If your hard drive doesn't support LPM (Link Power Management) then, by default, Intel's controller still attempts to send LPM commands to the drive which causes the computer to freeze for 10 - 30 seconds and it creates two events in the event logs.

That's pretty much the exact description of symptoms my system experienced.

While the link references ICH7R and ICH8R controller hub drivers, the suggested registry fix seemingly fixed event 9 errors for the ICH10R as well.

Removing Intel Rapid Storage Technology probably will not do anything in relation to this error, I don't really see much use of it.

The other question relates to the ICH10R controller driver; is this driver, that freezes my system, necessary at all? The reason for asking is that I have another system based on the Asus P7P55 motherboard that does not have Intel controller driver installed and it works just fine.
Thanks in advance...

A:Intel Rapid Storage Technology question...

Perhaps reading this might help - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...?DwnldID=18859

BTW I use it and have no issues. However I don't don't have a RAID setup but I do use AHCI.

Quote:
It also provides AHCI support on select Intel? 5 Series, 4 Series, 3 Series, 965, 975X, 955X, 945, 925 and 915 chipset-based platforms, as well as on Mobile Intel? 915/910 chipset-based platforms.

If you're not using RAID or AHCI I'd imagine you don't need it.

That's the way I understand it.
