Quality of second monitor on GTX-260

Q: Quality of second monitor on GTX-260

I need some help to sort out my Dual monitors

I have the following setup:
Gaming PC
Intel E6850
Asus PK5B Motherboard
4Gb Ram
Asus GTX-260 TOP
Benq V2400W 24" monitor
Windows XP

Home Server
Ezio L557 17" monitor
Compaq Evo dual core desktop
Windows 2000

My gaming PC is connected direct to the Benq and run no issues

The problem isthe Ezio which ran through a switch, the switch is connect to the Compaq Evo PC and the second connection on the GTX-260.

When the switch is linked to the compaq the Eizo is clear and fine, then the switch is connected to the Gaming PC, the screen is darker and greenish.

I have played with the Nvida color, brightness and contrast setting but no good, obviously the setting on the monitor is ok as the picture is clear from the Compaq.

I have also installed the Eizo last drivers on the Gaming PC

Preferred Solution: Quality of second monitor on GTX-260

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Quality of second monitor on GTX-260

Sounds like there is a cable problem. Generally, a hueing of this type indicates a cable isnt connected properly. My second rig seems to suffer from it a lot, and generally pulling out the cables from monitor to rig and then back again will solve it. The 260 doesnt, as far as I can tell, have any probs, I have 3 monitors running from it, and they dont have a problem. If you have halfway boxes, try getting rid of them and connecting directly, interference or bad connections could be the problem here S

Hello juhovahamaa, and welcome to TSG.

Exactly how is the displayed image low quality (too dark, washed out, blurry, difficult to read text)?

I bought a CTX S761A lcd monitor for a win98se machine. The icons on the desktop look like they are in low resolution mode. The display adapter is in True Color. Sometimes the graphics don't look too crisp either. I opened some photos and such and they look ok - not 256.

I plugged the monitor to my notebook and everything looks like it should so I don't think it's the monitor. Someone just told me that they plugged it into another computer and it looked fine.

We bought a new video card thinking that could be the problem - ATI Radeon 9000 AGP 64mb DDR card.

CTX had me change refresh rated and desktop size, but the same remains. Also auto tune.

One thing we noticed in the ati settings screen was a ctx color profile. What exactly does this do and would monkeying with it affect the quality?

Has anyone else used ctx monitors? It was our first lcd monitor.

Suggestions? I'm stumped.... (where's that stump grinder when I need it?!)

A:CTX LCD Monitor Display Quality

What is the NATIVE RESOLUTION for this monitor and do you have the card set for that????

LCD's give their best presentation at their Native Resolution.

Also screwing with the refresh rate doesn't really do you any good on a LCD set it at 60Hz and forget it.

Don't really have anything to say about the "CTX color profile"

I'm using this TV http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-LC22DV17UT-22-Inch-Built-In-Player/dp/B002RZCHF2 as a monitor. I just got it for free from my girlfriend while she's away and am using the VGA cable from my old PC monitor to connect it to my PC and the color just seems off and the picture is grainy. I've tried finding a setting on my computer and using the settings on the TV to get it right but it's just not working out. It is called a Generic Non-PNP monitor but i've set it to the maximum resolution based on the model. Do I need an HDMI cable or is it something else?

A:Quality looks strange using my new TV as a monitor.

Many TV's make poor monitors. You should be using a 1366x768 as your resolution. An HDMI cable may not improve the quality, VGA is perfectly fine for such uses, and even the recommended PC input on many TV's.

i have a question about LCD Quality.
im a program ,
i was bought a 1960HR LCD Monitor for my PC.
it have 3 modes : 800*600 , 1024*768 , 1280*1024
the LCD in 1024*768 have a good quality in images but can not show text perfectly (texts have very very smoothing).
and is not good LCD for me, because im a programmer that must work with text and images.
the LCD in 1280*1024 also have a good quality in both(image and text).
in this resolution, pixels are very small, and LCD view is very sharp.
i can see pixels gap! and i can count LCD pixels!

i usually need to use 1024*768,and 1960HR is not a good solution for me.
but dont forget 1960HR is a good LCD for other.
Support part of 1960HR seller say me that all of 19" LCD have a same status.
and if i need a good text view in 1024*768 resolution then me must buy a 17" or 15" LCD.
but both have small viewport area.
i want know is there any 19" or larger LCD monitor that support good text and image quality in 1024*768 mode?
or maybe they only have a good quality in their native resolutions?

Thanks for your attention

A few days ago I bought a new monitor. The VC279H from asus. Games look really nice but browsers and photos are very bad quality. It looks like the monitor is in a super low bitrate even though it isn't. I switched from HDMI to DVI and I'm running a dual monitor setup both DVI, I tried the monitor without the other one and nothing has worked so far. Changing the dpi or anything like that won't do much.

I hope you guys can help me out!

Edit: Also the fonts seem a bit washed out and if I open Word it seems very pixelated.

A:Bad quality of colors on new monitor

Two things to note here:

1) ALL monitors should be calibrated, even if you only use the basic configuration tool provided by Windows (I assume it's still available in Win10).

2) As you noted this monitor is new, what are you comparing it to? While you apparently upgraded to a 27" panel, it's still only 1080P. Which means it's very likely the same resolution as your old panel, it simply has bigger pixels. Which, depending on viewing distance, can appear as lower quality.

'1280 x 1024' popping up in the middle of the screen and the screen going out or the worst, .... shut-down the PC automatically due to the LCD I've been using for years.

Strangely, the CRT is better than the current LCD that I found after terrible incident on which almost destroying the PC when hooked up with defective CRT, smoking started coming from up the back of the defective CRT for a few second.

What model or any good quality LCD should I look for, .... comparable to good quality CRT?

Looking at buying this monitor;

has anyone had experience with this brand or this monitor, price is very cheap but specs are very good so i'm slightly dubious about buying. The reviews on the website are entusiastic but not particularly professional. I play games a lot, and use photoshop so I need a pretty good monitor. In regards to this will games play perfectly at 1280 x 1024 despite it being widescreen.

A friend suggested that Samsung maybe a better choice.

Hello,I am looking for notebook that would be able to use two external screens and I have faced Lenovo Yoga 520 with one HDMI and one USB-C port. HDMI is obvious, but what about USB-C video quality? I could not find any sctrict information how does it (or even whether) works. My doubts are reasoned by my previous attempt to DisplayLink via USB-A3.0 which completely sucked (low fps, hard to setup). I am mainly using Linux and it was complete disaster - I had to use experimental drivers and after long fight I achieved about 15 fps...How It is with Lenovo520's USB-C? Will my monitor be usable? What if I use adapter to HDMI/DVI/VGA/DisplayPort? Shall I be bound by uncommon drivers or will it work out of box?

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now the image on both my external monitors is very poor. I downloaded  and installed the monitor drivers but it made no difference. I've played with adjusting the resolution, resetting the montors to the factor default but still no improvement. I've restarted monitors and the PC. I've reinstalled the monitor driver too but again still no improvement. What's really odd is some web pages are expanded while other are smaller. This HP site is normal size but the fonts are still very blurry.  Outlook fonts are extremely blurry. I even connected a different external monitor but it has the same issue. The image on my HP laptop is excellent. Any suggestions?

hello all,
im having some trouble with seeing good quality videos on my SAMSUNG 34" HD LCD TV which i use as my monitor for my pc. I used this same TV as a monitor for my same PC and it worked fine, videos were good quality but this was when i had Windows Vista on it, recently i have taken Vista off and replaced it with Windows XP as i think it runs better but now i cant watch any videos on any media players in good quality like before.

I was wondering if it maybe that when i restored my PC with XP i have reset some settings or something? What settings if so?

Is there any codecs for XP that make the quality of videos much better?

Can anyone help me? i been looking on the net for answers for a while now.

Make sure you have all the up-to-date codecs for the videos you are trying to play, and that in XP you have the correct output resolution for your monitor.

Hello all...

Not sure if this is the right section for this, and searches keep sending me to a blank page, so apologies if this has already been answered.

So.. I bought an ICY Box media player that supposedly outputs to a VGA monitor. The image quality is terrible. however it is fine when plugged into a TV using rca to rca (?) (which I guess most multimedia players are designed for, hence going for this media player model as I specifically need to output video files directly to a monitor). There's a five cable connector outputting to vga where I believe the problem is. Any ideas how to resolve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks K

I just replaced my 17" Samsung with a 19" Samsung monitor, both CRTs.
On the right and left edges of the 19" monitor, the quality of the picture deteriorates just enough to be noticeable. The best way to describe it is a kind of vertical moire pattern, so that vertical lines can be seen on the screen. The picture quality in the middle of the screen is fine
Here's the kicker, this has happened with two monitors. (I took the first one back and exchanged it, thinking it was defective.)
I have made every adjustment I can make on the monitor, and I am beginnning to wonder if my NVIDIA graphics adapter is having problems dealing with the larger screen size. Yeah, I know it seems wierd, but I can't think of what it oculd be.
I have a very new system with an NVIDIA 5200 128 MB AGP card.
I have also tried to make most of the adjustments available on the video card, including most of the refresh rates.
Anyone have any thoughts?

This monitor is called Samsung Syncmaster t240hd. Its an hdtv monitor with 1920 x1200 resolution for monitor. I believe if used as a TV, its 1920 x 1080 though but i wont use it for tv. Anyways, the first thing i noticed was the monitor isn't straight. If you look at it from the side, it looks like its slouching. Is there a way to fix this? Thus adjust it a bit higher?
The other thing is when i look at numbers/words, its a lot harder to read than my old monitor? Thus you see its much easier to read the same thing on my laptop screen compared to this monitor. My laptop is dell xps 15 9550 and very nice. But its just harder to read on this hdtv. I tried making brightness higher than 45 and this makes it much worst. The lower it is, a bit better but its just harder to read on it. Basically its looks very yellowish? For example when i go to a site on another forum, where most of it is white... if i open the same page on this monitor, its yellow. Its a really ugly color and just hard to look at the screen.
Can someone tell me how i can fix this issue? Also i wasn't aware of this but this hdtv monitor has glass over the monitor. Is this how all hdtv monitors are? Is that the reason why its harder to read on this as oppose to a regular monitor?
Are there settings i can change that i can make reading words and letters much easier?
These are the settings when i click on the menu button

Contrast: 95

Okay so I have been using VGA for a long time. I got a second monitor today and it uses the old VGA cable. So I hooked it up with the VGA and it looks fine. I then plugged an HDMI cable into my PC and first monitor. Everything seems like its worse quality. Colors are brighter or darker than before and the text is blurry. This is only with HDMI and it was fine with VGA. This is a 19" TV but I have been using it for a couple years now without trouble as a monitor. Some letters on the screen are also for some reason outlined in yellow. I'm not super tech savvy so please try to keep it as simple as you can. Thank you for the help!

I have HP Desktop Tower Pavilion with windows 10, I had two HP S2031 monitors in dual mode, worked fine. One of them died, I got a good deal on a larger HP 27er monitor.  I hooked it up, they were both working fine ... it was using a default monitor
setting ... and then yesterday the computer downloaded some updates, and in doing so, it downloaded the driver for the HP 27er and installed.  The next thing that happens is the older HP S2031 starts to go dark ... like it is going into sleep mode, and
then it is totally black.  On reboot, it starts up with both monitors working, but within seconds of reboot the HP S2031 goes black again. The HP S2031's buttons do nothing, other than the power button, which turns it off and on, but that is it.
I have done all troubleshooting, I did not even have them set up to sleep, all settings are at NEVER.  In coming here, I have done all the fixes I can find for similar  that are posted for similar issues, the Windows Key + W... nothing.
The create new power plan ... nothing.  the device manger>display adapters>disable then enable ... nothing.  and lastly Start>Control Panel>System>Device Manager>display adapter>driver tap>update ... still nothing.  HOW
DO I GET THE HP S2031 MONITOR TO NOT BE IN SLEEP AND HAVE BLACK SCREEN.  I can not figure this out and am not finding any fix.

I have an HP laptop and I have been running it with dual monitors. I finally decided to upgrade to Windows 7 and after I installed it I noticed that the built in monitor of my laptop looked strange and when I opened the display settings to change the screen resolution and set the external monitor as a separate monitor rather than a mirror I noticed that only one monitor was detected and it was the external one (Generic non-pnp monitor on standard VGA graphics adapter) and the built in monitor does NOT show up at all.

I've tried the detection button, in hopes that the computer would read the built in monitor and I could fix the problem. This did not help. I tried unplugging/replugging the external monitor to no avail. I tried restarting without the external monitor plugged in and it STILL reads the built in monitor as if it is the external one. Is there anyway to fix this? I have not tried re-installing the OS, not yet anyways.

Any suggestions ?

A:Monitor Issues - Laptop Reading Built In Monitor as if it were my external monitor.

I am using a 22" screen for my primary screen and the laptop lid open for a secondary screen. The main screens resolution is 1680x1050, I can set it to anything I want and it's always using the full screen. The laptop screen on the other hand will only use the full screen if it's at 1400x1050 resolution (max for that screen, IBM Thinkpad T43). With the large 22" screen I have no trouble reading the screen at high resolutions, the screen is huge, with the little 14" screen though I have to strain to read the screen at 1400x1050.

The problem is when I set the laptop screen to anything lower than 1400x1050, it uses less of the screen. Preferrably I want it at 1280x1024 or 1024x768 (I dont know which I want yet as I can't see the freaking screen at that resolution). At 1280x1024 for instance the useable screen is just a box in the middle, so the "1280x1024" is still barely readable for me cause it's shrunk from full screen, plus it's just annoying only using a portion of the screen.

I have played with the ATI Control Center, the Thinkpad display settings and windows display settings and just cannot get this thing to go full screen at lower resolutions when docked and using the external monitor.

Anyway to resolve this?

I build computers to sell on eBay and one of the most costly factors is my time. Lately, more and more, it's been spent troubleshooting only to find that it wasn't operator error, but rather manufacturer defects that are the problem. Cases, mostly, are worthless. I've tried lots of different brands, and the only common thread has been poor quality and manufacturer defects.

Does anyone know of a quality case company; maybe something not out of China? I would be willing to pay more, of course, to save myself the time of returning cases to the store time and again and troubleshooting only to find something is wrong with the product. If I found one really good case, I'd like to think I could just buy that one over and over.

I just bought an HP 21 black ink cartridge to use on my deskjet 3930 printer, I set my print properties to normal fast printing, with grayscale, and printed about 140 pages (some almost blank and all double spaced) of a text document, It stops at about 160page and completely runs out of ink. What is up with this stingy ink cartridge?
Anyone know of a better printer, that will yield more pages per cartridge?
My mother had an old brand that didn't print as fast as most modern printers, but you could get like 300pages with a single cartridge.

A:What's with Quality of HP Ink?

I own one ink jet printer but frankly with the prices of ink coming down, you need to look at laser printers. For my use Canon were always the least expensive cartridges and the longest lasting. Where I changed cartridges about every 2 months, with laser cartridges I do that yearly and the prices are only about double that of ink jet cartridges.

What programs do you use to convert VHS tapes to DVD that give very good quality on the playback on a TV ??

When I capture the VHS to the PC, the file plays great with excellent clarity (just as good as the original tape).

Yet, when I use software to put the file to DVD (for example, Windows 7 DVD maker, Pinnacle Studio 12, VHS2DVD,... ) they all create a lot of artifacts and distortion in the DVD... which wasn't in the original file played on the PC.

So, anyone have any ideas or leads?

Thanks a bunch!

A:VHS to DVD quality

Althought I edit all my HD video from my camera on my PC. I found the very best way to convert VHS to DVD was to actually use a console DVD recorder. Record each tape to a DVD. Then I have the raw, DVD "source" Then copy the DVD contents to my PC and edit if I want or backup. But since Tape is 1:1 playback speed only anyway, it's just far easier to record realtime straight to a DVD-R deck.

[edit]One problem with digitizing the VHS then converting to DVD is that you are goinf through two compressions which loses quality. The tape to DVD method one only compresses once directly to mpeg2 (DVD format) [/edit]

I purchased three wireless headsets and returned two of them in the last month. Two were made by creative (One the HS-1200) and the one I have now is the .Audio 995 by Plantronics. Every one of them had the same issue, the mic quality is awful. They even sound the same.

I honestly don't know where to look anymore, I've tried everything I can think of down to fiddling with settings under sound to installing drivers. My suspicion is its something to do with the USB drive not working with my sound card when it comes to the mic. I've plugged these headsets into every USB on my PC, around 6-8 different places.

When I go under sound/recording/Microphone/properties/advanced I cannot change the default format from the lowest setting. Yet when I plug in my jack headset I can change that to whatever I please. Is the problem that the mic is just set to low quality? Help would be much appreciated.

I have a computer based recording studio using Sonar. I would never use a "computer" mic or the built in computer sound card for any recordings.

You didn't list your system specs so we can't directly comment on your hardware. But, at a minimum I would suggest a good quality USB connected mic such as Samson or Shure, if you want to use the built in hardware for recording. Otherwise an external USB connected interface unit and a good mic with an XLR connector for the interface unit would be my recommendation.

ive noticed that when i convert mp3s into wavs and burn to a disk the sound quality is not very good,it sounds kind of muffled and has lots of bass,i only convert mp3s that are 128 kbps or higher,i use a ricoh 6x,run win 98 on a p2 300 with 128 ram.is there any sound card settings or something i can do to increase the quality of the sound?my sound card is a yamaha opl3 sax.i am in the process of recording all my cds[i have 400 or so]into mp3s for safe keeping, and in the future if i have to replace a cd i want as good as quality possable.

A:wav quality

What software are you using to convert from MP3? That is probably where your problem is. Look for some kind of quality setting in the software doing the conversion.

hey i got a bunch of avi files but there really crap quality
so is there a way to make them more better looking
like changing the file format

A:bad quality

Hi starcraftmaster.
Changing file format just results in gigo (garbage in-garbage out)
You need a good editor. Something that can change lighting, focus, frame rates, etc.
What exactly do you mean by "really crap quality"? Please describe.

i've bought VCDs all my life, just wondering if the quality of the video itself is any better than VHS, or if it's any better at all.

A:about VCD's video quality

Tape is probably better because when it's captured onto pc the files are avi (best quality), whereas vcd files are usually mpeg 2 (compressed quality). Plus working on avi in editing is a lot quicker than mpeg.

A:Help with color quality

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

It's probably either a faulty graphics card or just corrupt/invalid drivers. Do you know which graphics card you're using? Or the model of your PC (something like 6720s, 8710p...)
Also have a look in Control panel>system>hardware>device manager, is there a yellow question mark or exclamation mark anywhere? (especially sound, video and game controllers section)

Hi there folks,
I know you must be thinking .......... WHAT? Let me explain.
The problem is that the photo file I have is far too big to put on my web site. I've been trying to lower the colours (Colors for the yanks) to a workable size, but when I try to save the file once I've done the work Paint shop pro tells me 'The original file does not support save'. (I think Microsoft said summit similar)

Can anyone help on this one please?

Hello Everyone,

A long time ago, my PC stopped rendering videos as it was suposed too.
The video looks like this (Image 1), but it looks like this (Image 2 and 3). Looks like is zooming. The quality is also a lot worst.
It does this in all videos in my PC and in some Youtube videos.
I have all my GPU drivers up to date (Crimson 16.1). I have this issue since 15.7.
VLC is the only program that doesnt do it.

Do you have any idea on what this could be?

PS: Sorry for my bad english

hello, you probably get this all the time, but some pictures i download from the net are small, then when i want to blow them up to a viewable size, they are way too blurry. if i wan to print them out, will they still be blurry, and if so, are there any really good programs that would create a sharper, more focused picture.

A:poor quality

Most photos on the Internet are optimized to be as small a number as possible of bytes of information and still look acceptable on your monitor.

The reason is to minimize download times for web pages. So most pictures from the web are not suitable for enlarging or printing.

You can right click a picture and click on properties to see how many KB the picture is before you even download it. By experimenting you can up with a number you feel will enlarge enough for your purposes and make acceptable prints.

I include many pictures from the web in greeting cards I create. As long as you keep them small they can be fine for that purpose.
