Q: Dell Inspiron 7568 cannot use SSD?

I have Dell Inspiron 7568 and about to replace the hard disk with SSD (Example: Samsung EVO 850). However, Dell online customer care told me that I can't do that because my laptop doesn't have "SSD slot" (I don't know what he called "SSD slot") . What's weird is that there's a video on YouTube about replacing Dell Inspiron 7568 hard drive with SSD using the SATA interface.
I just want to clarify this. Can my laptop use SSD using SATA interface?

Yes, as long as you use a 2.5" SATA SSD - the system cannot take a card format (M.2) SSD, however -- meaning you must replace the hard drive, not add an SSD in addition to it -- which is what the technician was telling you.

I purchased the Dell Inspiron 2 in 1 touch screen a couple weeks ago and I have been having issues with it ever since. The computer works fine for several hours and then it just freezes up. The keyboard and touchscreen are both frozen, so I am forced to manually restart the computer. I have a feeling this is only occurring when there is a lapse with internet connectivity. I live in a residence hall and the wifi can be pretty intermittent. Any idea how I can prevent this from happening? Its no big deal when I am just watching netflix, but it happened today while I was working on research for my dissertation. It occurs about once a day now, so its getting to be pretty problematic. Its running on Windows 10 if that helps.  I welcome all suggestions!!

I just bought a Dell inspiron 15 7568 2 in 1 with touchscreen. The device is currently running window 10(not the latest window 10 version ) but my touchscreen worked well with the same window version for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks my touchscreen starts to fail sometimes I switch on laptop and touchscreen takes about 30 minutes to work but sometimes it works perfectly. Now my touchscreen has not been working for 1 month before that my touchscreen is clicking on the bottom left corner automatically without even touching the screen. I've checked the Driver and tried enabling and disabling but it doesn't help me to solve the problem. I have no idea what to do now . I don't think it is hardware problem but my laptop is still new or may be the factory fault? Am i the only one who is facing this problem ? Window 10 caused this problem?      I cannot boot Windows 10 on my Inspiron 7568 from a Dell/Windows 10 USB drive. I can boot other boot UBSs like Ubuntu, OCZ toolbox and Windows 10 from Microsoft. The only difference I can tell is that it is USB 3. I went through bios and dilly dallied with various setting to no joy.
Any suggestion?

Hi, when using the laptop in tablet mode or tent mode the screen does not rotate accordingly. I installed the ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Application but in Device Manager I only see "HID Sensor" under the Sensor category, nothing STM-related. Also, no conflicts in Device Manager and no missing devices either. I tried going to Display/Advanced Settings but the option to "Allow the Screen to Auto Rotate" is not present. Any hints? Thanks

My integrated camera in Dell Inspiron 7568 2-in-1 with Windows Pro 10 has suddenly stopped working from 31 st December 2016 . There is no imaging devices in Device  Manager and one device in USB controller has failed with below error . 
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

After playing a few 1080p bluray 3D videos, the picture quality of the screen has reduced drastically, and I am able to notice shades/colour tints on the screen when playing videos and viewing pictures of high resolution.
Notice the varying shades of colour , specifically in the top left portion of the pictures below. I ran the Video card test and Video Card stress test and it passed all tests except video Memory Test and GPU Pipeline tests , which got cancelled.
I don't know what the cause of the problem is, and any help or advice regarding this issue will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi guys!
When I turn off the laptop by using shut down or hibernate there's a loud white noise in the external  active speakers which are connected via audio/jack cable.. Using my old laptop for 5 years, that never happened. What could be the solution to the problem? Aside from turning off the speakers - I always need them on so that I can use them with Chromecast audio connected to Aux-in.

I am trying to figure out if I have a faulty hardware or if there is a software solution to this issue.
My laptop has a 4K touchscreen and has only Intel Graphics 520. It has i7-6500U CPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB Sandisk Z400 SSD. Running Windows 10, latest updates etc.
Every time I disconnect the power cable and it switches to battery, the screen starts glitching and switches between regular screen to one with vertical green and red lines (still readable but heavily distorted). It usually stops glitching after a minute or two.
This is what I did/try so far:
- updated BIOS
- updated SSD firmware (laptop was randomly freezing for 30 seconds prior to that)
- tried 3 different Intel drivers (even manually installed latest one that refused to automatically install)
- disabled dynamic brightness settings in Power Options
- forced maximum graphics performance when on battery in Power Options
Nothing works, the screen is still glitching. At this point, I suspect perhaps there is some hardware issue with the graphics (motherboard).
Any other things to try?

About a year ago I purchased this device and I worked as expected. It wasn't until recently that I notice problems with the touch screen not working. I contacted Dell via the phone and they took remote access to try and resolve the issue. After not having any luck they told me that I would have to send the device back to get repaired. Still being under the last 70 days of the warranty the repair would be covered under the warranty. When told that I would receive a box to ship the device back, I waited for the box. It wasn't until three weeks later that I contacted Dell due to a box not coming. I told them that a box was supposed to be shipped to my house, they had said over the phone that I would have to supply my own box. Then I received an email from an agent telling me not to contact customer service.I soon received a box and sent the device back. The device was received at their depot to fix the touch screen and a  week later I received the what seemed to be fixed device. Upon turning the device on the keyboard and power indicator came on but the screen didn't come on at all. The device was worse then before. In the box the device came back in had a piece of paper indicating what was fixed. Stated on the paper was "Your device was checked before shipment to make sure your device is working properly." Hi!  I've had this Inspiron 7568 for about a month now, and all of the sudden the touchscreen stopped working.  I've tried updating the bios, touchscreen firmware, and reimaging the hard drive (system restore), but nothing has worked.  Everything looks fine in the control panel for the HID touchscreen drivers. Anyone else have this problem and have a solution?  I'm extremely frustrated that it has stopped working after such a short time.

Friends, My Inspiron 7568 Laptop fan will not spin, actually the fan blade spin a couple of revolutions immediately after powering on but that is all. I tried HWinfo, SpeedFan to no Joy.
I took the fan off and bench tested it with 5 volt dc and it work, I reconnected the fan to the mother board and tested the terminals at the "fan side" of the connection and 5vdc is there? The fan is clean and nothing is preventing the fan blades from spinning. This is very flabbergasting ! ! !
This is a four wire fan,  Black and Red for power, Yellow for sending the RPM signal to the motherboard and Blue for receiving the speed control signal from the motherboard which is my problem.
The fan always have power to the black and red power terminals, normally the blue terminal controls fan speed with negative five volt pulses, when my laptop is on there is a constant negative voltage at the blue terminal causing the motor to not spin but why?
In BIOS there are no option for fan control however the HWinfo & SpeedFan does show the fan information and indicate zero RPMs but the control to adjust fan speed does not work.
Do anyone have a solution to my DeLemon? Please help
I suspect that if I cut the blue wire the fan will spin at full speed when the PC is on and I will do that if I don't find the right solution.

Bear in mind the fan is controlled by a thermistor on the mainboard - it won't come on until a temperature setpoint is reached.  If it's not coming on at all, even when the system is hot, it's more likely it's the thermistor that's bad - not the fan.

Just got a Inspiron 7568 with Windows 10 about a month ago.  Everything was fine until just this week the touchscreen suddenly stopped working.  I tried updating all the drivers, the touchscreen firmware, windows, etc., but nothing worked.  I finally restored from the factory image, but that didn't work either.  Tried again installing all the drivers, firmware, bios, updates, etc., but still it does not work.  Has anyone had this issue and found resolution?  I searched the forums and support section, but no luck.

2 month old Inspiron 7568 would not start, blank screen, completely dead,  battery ok. Contacted support and sent it back under warranty.  They repaired then it was returned.  Now I realise there is no audio from the speakers, audio 3.5 socket ok.  Unable to contact support again when I enter the service tag I get UNABLE TO VERIFY SERVICE TAG.  Dell Support do not want anything to do with it as "this Service Request 929049647  has been closed for more than 7 days",  It took 6 days for that reply.....Hope this generates a result

Also plug in external speaker or ear phones and check if you are able to get audio.Check when the system starts the windows sound comes up.

Hello I'm having issues with my touchscreen.Sometimes it's sporadic when touched, sometimes unresponsive, and sometimes flickers. Tech support keeps making me send in for repair but when it comes back I have same issues.Sent to tech support 6 times within six months already, replaced screen, replaced motherboard, update bios, and update drivers and a whole bunch of other tech support stuff. Does anyone have similar problems can share your experiences and fixes? At this rate tech support is going to keep doing the same thing until one year warranty expires. What are my options in regards to warranty if tech support is unable to fix defect issues?Thank you in advance for advice.

Hello,

I have a Inspiron 7568 2 in 1 and I am not able to get the login screen to come up when the laptop is in "tablet" mode.  The lock screen shows that you should press and hold the windows button and then press the power button.  When we do this nothing happens?  Is anyone else having a similar issue?

Spoke to Dell technical support, and they believe that the Windows+Power button shouldn't bring up the login screen while the PC is locked in tablet mode.
This seems crazy, but I tested it on an identical system and it does the same thing.  Hopefully Dell can take care of this issue.

Just activated a new Inspiron 7568 2-in-1, and as part of setting up, the Windows 10 software was updated. Since then, Windows Hello won't work. I get the message 'Windows Hello isn't available for this device.'

I checked the Windows website and the Inspiron I7 is listed as a Windows Hello device. Does anyone know how to reactivate this amazing feature?

Windows 10 up-to-date. All drivers updates installed from Dell website. Firmware for touchscreen updated from Dell website. Firmware updater detects touchscreen. Log attached. Touchscreen detected in device manager and in power state D0. Touchscreen detected by Windows Control Panel in Tablet PC settings. Touchscreen will not work. No touches registered. At times, opening Tablet PC settings and choosing to calibrate the screen, then touching the screen upwards of 20 times will get the touchscreen to work. After shutdown, touchscreen will again stop working. Power settings have been checked to turn off Selective Suspend for USB devices. Also turned off option in Device Manager to turn off USB devices to save power. No change. Have removed HID touchscreen device in device manager and allowed to reinstall. No change. Touchscreen detected by device manager but non-operational. Doesn't appear to be a hardware connection issue as device is always detected  as being present and monitor always works, just not touch portion. Have tried using touchscreen at multiple screen angles and this also causes no change.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I disabled my touch screen a couple of months ago and I wanted to re-enable it again today. But when I looked at the "HID-compliant touch screen" on the Device Manager it was already enabled. So I disabled and re-enabled it again (also restarted the computer) and my touch screen still won't work. I also tried rolling back but it wouldn't let me.
It's still compatible with pen and touch (it says "Pen and touch support with 10 touch points). I've even went on Troubleshoot and did what it said to do and the touch screen still isn't working.
I checked the "Events" for the "HID-compliant touch screen" and at the beginning it says it migrated on 9/22/16, which happened to be the day I got the new Windows 10 update. I'm assuming that the reason for my touch screen not working was the windows update.

My company has an Inspiron 7568 2-in-1 that was showing signs the battery was not changing, now it shuts off right after putting in a password to log in. When I start the computer, I get a message "Alert! The AC Adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The Battery may not charge. This system will adjust the performance to match the power available." It seems all I can access is the BIOS. Please advise how I can fix this. The laptop is still under warranty.

  * Manufacturer Part# SNP2N8J2K/256G, Dell Part# A8859580
  * Manufacturer Part# SNP971XCK/512G, Dell Part# A8859583
I was interested in a Samsung 850 EVO but it only list Aliensware as compatible:
This product is compatible with the following systems:
   * Alienware Aurora R3
   * Alienware X51
   * Alienware X51 R2
Do anyone know of a reason why I cannot put a Samsung 850 EVO in my Inspiron 7568?

I found that the last updated audio driver for the Inspiron 7568, when plugging in headphones does not work when trying to use the equalizer for the dell audio application. When I use the older versions of the audio driver it works properly like it is supposed to please fix it.

Im getting a loud hum from my external speakers plugged into the headphone jack of my laptop. However the hum is only there when I power down the laptop. Ive unplugged the power and booted using the laptop battery and then powered down and it still hums, even when the power cord is unplugged. I tried plugging in a different portable speaker with a different audio cable and got the same hum when powered down. when the laptop is powered on I have no issues with hum or buzz and the audio sound is just fine. Its only when i power down or put the laptop to sleep. I dont wanna have to unplug the headphone jack every time i power down.
I also tried my wifes asus laptop with my speakers and everything was fine. Ive updated all drivers etc etc and ran many diagnostic tools available with dell support assist and had no success

When my Inspiron 15 7568 is flipped around into tablet config, both touch and stylus stop working.
Is there a firmware fix?  It appears to be a problem inside the machine and not Windows.When I open the lid all the way, a number of items instantly vanish from the device manager.  -Which is smart for things like the touch pad and the keyboard, but somehow the touch screen and stylus got included in that feature.

-I was thinking of perhaps hardware-chopping the switch which tells the computer it's in tablet mode and just disabling the keyboard and touch pad manually when I don't need them.  That way the computer would never realize it's not in lap-top mode, (where touch still works) and I'd be able to use the machine as a tablet. But I can't find the switch!  There's no obvious board or reed switch or anything which would interact with the magnets, and none of the repair literature has anything to say about this.  So even though that solution would work, it's a bust.But it's also nonsense.  It's obviously some simple binary switch in a piece of deep code on some bit of firmware.  -I blanked everything, rolled back drivers, pulled both batteries, (main and coin) and did a BIOS reset in an effort to hunt down this deep code and hopefully reset it to something sensible by re-installing everything. (A hopelessly ridiculous approach when all that's needed is a 1 to be a 0 or whatever it is), but all I managed to do was destroy my Windows 10 installation, so I had to re-image my SSD from the original drive the Inspiron shipped with.Basically... what I need is for there to be a specific driver update which grants the user access to the lid sensor and adjust its behavior according to the user wishes.  "And golly, alls I wishes is that it works."Is there any chance of this ever happeni... Hi,
I got a new Inspiron 15 - 7568. As soon as I flip it into tablet configuration (whether I choose tablet mode or not), touch stops working. Only way to get it to work is to restart the notebook.
When touch is not working, Win 10 reports no touch capability and in Device Manager one USB device has an error "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed". After the restart everything is in order, until try to get it into tablet configuration.
Already updated, drivers, BIOS etc to the latest on Dell site.
I tried disabling USB selective suspend setting in power management - no change.
Has anyone had the same issue?
Any suggestions before it goes to Dell Support?

I am sorry to read that you are having this problem.  Is this something that has always happened since getting the notebook or something that recently started?  Has anything been changed with the system just prior to when the problem started?
If you haven't tried already please download the 0006, a00 version of the touch firmware from here.  I also suggest installing the chipset and Intel Serial I/O drivers as well.
I will likely shoot you a friend request but please reply here if you have tried the drivers that I mentioned and if it made any difference.

Hi,
I've created a bootable USB Drive which contains Windows 10 installation using Rufus. When I try to boot from the drive, the laptop shows me SupportAssist diagnostic screen and doing some tests. When it shows up, I press ESC to cancel the test, then the laptop turns off. But, when I try to boot to Windows on the internal hard disk, it works fine without any problem.
Please help me identify the problem.

Hello everyone,

Both the laptops Dell Inspiron 15R and Dell Inspiron 7548 came with 6 GB of RAM. I'd like to upgrade it to at least 12 GB by replacing the 2 GB dimms in both laptops with 8 GB dimms.

Was wondering whether it is safe and okay to combine different memory modules from different manufacturers.

I'm also leaving the US next week and so would prefer getting RAM that's more reliable and wouldn't mess up the laptops.

Could you guys please recommend which ones you'd get? I've bought Samsung and Crucial in the past and didn't have any issues.

Based on the above information, could you please recommend the sticks that you would get, preferably from Amazon?

Dell's upgrade page for Inspiron 15R recommends this one:

This would match the manufacturer of the existing stick (Kingston).

Dell's upgrade page recommended the same stick for Dell Inspiron 7548 as well.

Since I wasn't able to locate Hyundai's 8GB stick, is it okay if I get Kingston or Crucial's stick:

Can't comment on the compatibility, however, make sure laptops support 8GB RAM in a single slot, with 16GB total.

Over the last 2 days I have been having a problem as indicated in the title of this post. The fault has rectified itself 3 times, but again today, it is back to "battery plugged in, not charging." As I am running the laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium; 32 bit) on the adapter without problems, I assume that the adapter itself may not be faulty.
I also have a Dell Inspiron 630M laptop running Windows 7.  Can I safely use that adapter with the Vista laptop, without causing damage to the Vista ?  If it is safe to do so, and the battery on the Vista starts charging, then it would indicate that the Vista adapter/charger has some kind of fault.
Hoping someone can give me some guidance. Thanks.

A:Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. Battery plugged in not charging. Can I use adapter from a Dell Inspiron 630M laptop ?

If the adapter has the same plug and the same or higher power rating, you can swap them.
Check to see whether the 1545 recognizes the AC adapter or whether it shows unknown (F2 at powerup).  If it shows unknown with two different adapters, you have a bad power jack or a bad mainboard.

I have a dell inspiron 1150 and 5160, they look very alike. Does anyone know if i can put the 3.06 mobile pentium 4 processor from my 5160 into the 1150? 

Only difference is the fan is much bigger on the 5160 and it runs very hot. The 1150 has a celeron 2.8 and the fan runs slow or not at all. 

Is there any other significant differences between these two laptops ?

While the CPU will work, it's a power hog and runs hot -- I would not try it without moving the larger fan to the 1150 (if that's possible).  The Celeron CPU is the reason why one system runs much cooler than the other -- Intel had pushed the mobile P4 further than it could go and ultimately had to redesign the chip to make it more efficient - - which led to the Core CPU line.

We just recently purchased a new computer but am struggling to get our printer installed.  My printer works on my desktop ( I work from home so yes I have a desktop).  The printer also works with our other laptop via USB. Something happened sometime back that disrupted our Wi-Fi connection so I just never got it back up and running.   Anyway, we have this brand new laptop. I have been on the Support website and downloaded the drivers. save the files to the computer , unzipped them and executed the setup. The printer shows on my computer but it still says the drivers are missing.  It doesn't work hooking it up to the USB port etc.... 

I am ready to send my new computer back...so frustrated.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please list exact Dell model. Ex: Dell Inspiron 5000 5567, windows 10. If you don't know, type msinfo32 onto the [Cortana] search box, and then look for System Model.
In the meantime, type Device Manager on to search box, and then check and see if there's any Printer listed. If yes, expand printer, right click on it, and then update it. Please click on links for additional information.

Before buying laptop, Dell store person told that I will get express service and the person will visit home if there is any issue. But now there is no one to help even when I called 8 times since morning.

Hey, im having some issues. I have a DELL inspiron 5100 laptop and i just recently removed a virus that almost destroyed my hard drive, I got it to work fine but after a few days of use it started to freeze up on the DELL loading screen on the start up, i accidently pressed the F12 key and it took me to a screen with different ways to start up XP, like through the Hard drive or a disk.
i selected to run offthe hard drive and it froze up any help?

hi, after you hit F12 did you see the diagnostics program at all? Ordinarily I would say It may be worthwhile running a scan on the hard drive if you can. But, I see you removed a virus, can you tell me if it was with the help of the antimalware section on this forum? or did you just remove it yourself? I need to know if you are absolutely sure you removed all traces of the virus - if you had the help of a forum they would have given you the "all clear". Have you tried starting in safe mode at all?

I have read multiple postings about folks spend hours on the phone with Dell about Blue Screens of Death and Inspiron 530. I too bought a Dell Inspiron 530 - the First machine, after installing my lexmark printer 3400 driver not only gave me blue screens but memory issues with the windows desktop not painting correctly and icons missing! So I called Dell and they told me how reset the machine back to the factory settings...but I still encountered the Blue screen of Death even after that and then going to standby/hibernation and coming back - clicking to yahoo and checking mai! Boom Blue Screen every time! I called Dell and they replaced the machine with another Dell Inspiron desktop 1 week ago. I hooked up the new one and the same exact thing has happened - I restored the settings again and have already had the dreaded blue screen Stop error code 0x40000080 even with out now installing anything related to a printer!!! all while coming back from hibernation! So what I have read here is to get around this issue is to never let the machine got to standby or Hibernation is that correct?? or do I need driver updates! why in the world I would need new drivers when this is a brand new machine!!! HELP in CT!

There was dell data restore option in F8 boot menu option to restore my windows. a week ago i installed new windows 7. i didnt deleted recovery partition on my computer but there in no more option of dell data restore in f8 boot menu. i have just purchased a DELL Inspiron 15 5000 SERIES - 5559 with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed in Spanish. I have also purchased a DELL 24" additional screen SE2416H.
Whilst watching live internet broadcasts (TV, Youtube etc.) on Chrome, Edge or Firefox, as soon as I connect the screen to the laptop by HDMI cable, the sound on my laptop speakers disappears. Upon disconnection of the HDMI screen cable, the sound re-appears.  
However, the sound doesn't disappear when using other sound applications such as Skype. 
This means I can't enjoy watching internet TV with sound on the 24" screen.
Please advise how to fix this as the main point of purchasing the 24" screen was precisely to be able to watch (and listen to) TV programs.

Hi,
Yesterday, I bought a replacement battery from a local vendor for my dell inspiron 15 3537 laptop.
The new battery is 6cell, 11.1 V, 440 mAh and 65 Wh battery. The original battery which came with laptop was 4 cell(aprox), 14.8V, 40Wh battery.
I have been looking over the internet to cure my obsession that the new battery may damage the laptop internal circuitry. I found some reasonable answers. Still, I want to get feedback from dell community about this issue.?
What dell recommends for replacing batteries and what to do if the same battery specs are not available? Also, What are the operational Voltage range for dell laptops for 3537 series?
Any help would be appreciated.
