Unable to use any search engine and check gmail and hotmail accounts

Q: Unable to use any search engine and check gmail and hotmail accounts

Hi, mi name is roger and im desperate. This is my problem, when I try to search anything using any search engine (google, altavista, yahoo, etc) the IE is unable to show the results, It open the homepage but when I tried to search something well it just shows only the home page but the browser is trying to open the results page but for some reason It can not do it, is the same problem when I try to check my email accounts (hotmail, yahoo, gmail) the browser tries to open the page but doesnt show anything (no error message nothing just a blank page).

My first thougt was maybe is a virus, I runned the norton (I have the last version) in safe mode just for be sure that the antivirus can delete or fix any file including those on the windows and system restore folders, in the beginning it shows just one troyan horse, but I was able to delete it, I alredy run the antivirus several times and it says that the system is clean, but my problem did not go away.

Anyone can please let me know what could be the problem, any idea will be helpfull and apreciate.

Thank you in advance

Preferred Solution: Unable to use any search engine and check gmail and hotmail accounts

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Having got all of my standard stuff, including having MS Outlook handle my email accounts, sorted out; I decided to give the new Windows 10 Mail Application a try.
Unfortunately I cannot get it to do a darned thing:-
1. With my Hotmail account I get error code 0x80070032. I've tried a couple of suggested "solutions" without success.
2. With my Gmail account I get "We didn't find anything to show here" or "Still working on it". Either way nothing shows up.

Maybe I should just stick with MS Outlook.

However, if anyone could help I'd be very grateful.

A:Cannot get Mail App to work with Gmail or Hotmail accounts

For your Hotmail account, change the setting for getting the emails to 'last 3 days' and see if it works. If it does, change it back to whatever interval selection you want.

Usually when Google or other account say those, it's also a syncing issue. Might want to try playing with those settings as well.

I have both outlook.com (same as Hotmail) and Google working in the new Windows 10 mail app and even on my Windows 10 phone preview build. So they can work if you find the problems with your settings.

Hi There,

Hopefully you might be able. This is driving me crazy. Yesterday evening (and numerous times today) I tried to log into my Hotmail but was told that either my username or password were incorrect even though neither have been changed in at least 5 years if not longer and had been working fine 12 hours previous. When I tried to access my accounts in Ebay and Facebook I had the same problem. I have tried it through both Mozilla Firefox and IE7. I tried accessing my accounts from work today and had the same problem. Any help gratefully accepted. Thx.

I have always used windows live mail in the past with several email accounts on one screen which now keep being lost and do not sync properly since Microsoft started changing things.
My OS is Windows 7.
Now that Microsoft has changed my outlook account to Outlook EMail I want to use it with a few emails as I used to do with live mail but cant seem to do it.
I can open all my hotmail accounts individually using Outlook Email but want to have them all available on one screen. I can log into any one of my hotmail account with no problems but cant add any more accounts to the one I have logged into. Have tried lots of combinations of pop3, imap etc but always get messages like
"we couldn't connect to the server for your other account". which is that the one I opened or the one I want to add?
"make sure POP or IMAP have access." How do I do that?
"we are unable to reach your email provider" surely they are my provider?
I am also confused with the instructions to add an account as to which email address (aleady done or the one to be added) is being requested in which box.
Totally confused!!

I've had a problem on my computer for a while that I'm now trying to fix and despite reading board after board, still can't figure out the solution. I use Windows XP and have tried a few different programs to access the internet (IE8, Chrome, Firefox)

My computer is unable to use the major search engines - Yahoo, Google etc. -- an engine like Lycos will work however.

I used every publicly available virus, malware fixer that was recommended. However, all that ended up happening is I lost the ability to load "Google.Com".

I know it is certainly something on my computer since I tried the program "Hidemyass.com" and was able to go to google and use the yahoo and goodle search engines.

I don't think it is my Hosts file since there is only one address listed there.

Anyway, attached are the files recommended to be attached.

Thanks for your help!

I've been trying to work on the issue the last few days, and I downloaded various patches hoping that it would write over the error. It actually worked. However, after restarting a few more times, the issue came back. Once again, I downloaded patches (from Dell) and the issue has gone away again.

What exactly is being affected? Is it something written onto the registry from a program? What do I need to look for?

Please Help,
I am on a little vacation at my mother in laws and she wanted me to look at her computer. She is unable to hit any of the search sites (ie: bing, google, etc). Other sites seem to be fine though. When I try to search through msn or yahoo i get a 404 error. Going to the bing and google pages I get directed to default website page at this url. http://www.google.com/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi or http://www.bing.com/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I would consider myself an advanced user but definitely no expert.
She is running IE9 on Win 7 Premium 64bit. I did notice that she had a AV called cyber defender and asked her where she acquired it and she said that her computer popped up a thing saying she was infected and to download it. Of course she did. (I already yelled at her for this) I uninstalled that and now I have AVG running on it and have done full scans with that and Malwarebytes. No hits on either. Below is my Hijackthis log. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Also the sooner the better as well because I am only here a few more days. Yep, another thread/request involving that fricken. I clicked on an image in google and my java crashed, then Mcafee went nutty, quarantining and/or removing several PUPs and Trojans, chiefly among them, Spam-Waka and Downloader-CDN. I've scanned with everything from Mcafee to Malware Bytes to Hitman Pro 3.5 all to no avail. I even purchased Registry Mechanic from PC Tools hoping that would work but thus far, no luck. Googling some of the file names in system32 that I wanted more information on yielded many results from your website and I saw one thread that was an exact duplicate of the issue(s) I'm having. I just recently rebuilt my Win 8.1 Pro system, and ran into a little issue. In IE 11 desktop, when I go to manage add-ons and try to add the Google search engine to my list of search providers (I have no problem finding it in the list of options), when I click on the "Add to Internet Explorer" button, nothing happens. I would normally get a confirmation window saying do you want to add Google search and make it your default, but no window appears. I have totally reset IE, and uninstalled/reinstalled IE, but the issue persists. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem recently, and if anyone has managed to come up with a solution to allow Google search be added as my default search engine so I can remove Bing. Thanks in advance.

A:Unable to recently select Google Search engine in IE11

Yeah, you're right, the other Google ones such as maps, translate, etc. work OK, just not the Google Search one. Not sure why that is, but you can manually install one for Google yourself instead.

1) Go to EnhanceIE.com - IE, Chrome, Firefox Search Provider builder

2) Use https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=TEST or https://www.google.com/search?q=TEST depending on country.

3) Click 'Install'. It will come up with the confirmation window you're used to seeing.

EDIT: It seems you can no longer add them manually either, so I don't know. I hope there's a legitimate reason for this and it isn't for nefarious reasons. It seems the ones listed as 'Search Provider' won't install, but the ones listed as 'Accelerator' will.

I have tried to update my software for new detection rules & also to check for the updates for Vista & Windows Defender, but something seems to be be blocking these programs from updating. Either they fail to connect to the net (or site), or programs will indicate there are updates & then say they cannot install.I have given up with Firefox for the time being & have have used IE to find your site through Google. So far, the problem doesn't seem to be as bad, only redirecting me or opening an unrelated pop-up for valid links about one time in five, as oppossed to virtually every time in Firefox. I have also been booted out of of IE when trying to access information on AVG's website.Prior to this problem appearing, I had a bit of trouble with my computer blue-screening a few times on start-up: switch on - loads normally - blue screen a few seconds after login screen appears - reboot - shows start mode option screen (I left it on start normally) - blue screen as above (lather, rinse, repeat). Usually after three blue screens or so, it would start working normally. Damn thing! This problem ... Read more

Hi, and thanks in advance for any help I can get here.

I'm running XP SP3 and am having problems with google. Every second search result in a google search list gets redirected to various sites.
I can't sign in to my google account, and can't access gmail in either IE or firefox. I get the "Webpage cannot be displayed" error message when I try to do either of these things.

I did have a few virus'a little while ago, Antispy2009 (or something like that) and malware rogue (aka the squealing pig). These were removed successfully or so I thought, before these latest issues started showing up. Since then I have run a range of anti virus / malware programmes, upgraded to IE8 then to firefox, uninstalled google toolbar, all with no effect on the problem.

I've posted the file and attachments below.

Many thanks for any help you can give.

I am working on a Dell Latitude c840 with Microsoft XP Professional. Usually I use firefox version 3.6.6 but occasionally I use Internet Explorer 8; the search engine redirect and inability to access gmail occurs on both browsers. I have run a few different malware/antivirus programs (independently, shutting down one when trying another) and none has found a threat that resolves this problem, and I fear delving into the registry myself. i can open google but cant search for anything - it takes a while and then gives me a "page cannot be displayed".im having a lot of issues searching for something or checking my mail etc.
this keeps happening intermittently.
Although it allows me to go to any microsoft website, log into my hotmail and other stuff.
i cant go to any of the regular sites.
i bought this desktop recently and also got a linksys wireless router[wrt54g] with it.
the first day it was working fine after i configured my net connection and stuff. but soon, i started getting a lot of spyware and malware and i was unable to do any scans to remove it, so i did a system restore and since then im having these issues.

Hi, some days ago I noticed something went wrong and I'm completely unable to access Gmail's front page from my computer, that means I can't even get to the Login page. I found about it on Chrome, then I tried on Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3, and finally on Internet Explorer... None worked...

If I click on "Gmail" at the top of Google's search page... it inmediately throws me this:

Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have.

I am also unable to set Google's search settings, when I try to save my search settings before running a web search it says:

Your cookies seem to be disabled.
Setting preferences will not work until you enable cookies in your browser.

But I checked and Chrome's cookies are enabled, I think whatever is causing this goes beyond the browser's settings, since I get this on Chrome, Firefox and IE.

What may have caused this:

I recently downloaded one of those registry cleaners, called CCleaner (and now i regret it... :P) As I was about to run it for the first time I selected several checkboxes that were unselected by default.

I am running Windows XP Professional 2002 and Microsoft Office 2003 (Outlook 2003)

I was using the older version of Outlook Connector to access my Hotmail account, but recently it said that I needed to upgrade it. The automatic upgrade did not work properly, so I manually removed/un-installed the old Outlook Connector, removed the hotmail account within Outlook, and I also removed a bunch of hotmail.ost files hanging around that seemed to have no data in them (in C:\Documents and Settings\Default\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) - I believe they were formed when I was going through all the problems with the supposedly automatic upgrade).

Then I manually downloaded and installed the newest version 14.1 for 32-bit and through the Outlook connector interface within Outlook, re-added the Hotmail account. But now when I try to click on any Hotmail folder, the following error message appears:
"Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location."

So I feel like I am back at square one and not sure how to get the Connector to start connecting. Thanks for any advice.

Amazingly, I finally found the answer in another forum, of course only after I went to the trouble of making my earlier posting.

SETTING THE HOTMAIL ACCOUNT AS THE DEFAULT EMAIL ACCOUNT solves the accessing problem. I hope this can help some other poor souls out there!

I know some people have multiple hotmail accounts that they want to sync up with Outlook, and have no idea what to do in that case, but if you only have one account, this seems to work.

Installed SP1 late last week and I'm quite unhappy with it. Stupid SP turned all the start up items and proccesses on, that I'd spent weeks filtering through and turning off. I've turned off pretty much everything, yet my computer takes about twice as long to boot up as before. I HATE that stupid icon they've used to replace the hourglass, because it's ALWAYS there.

In addition, the newest oddity is only the 1st person to login can get their hotmail without a reboot. If I login under my username and get hotmail, then my wife switches user and tries to get her hotmail she can login, but can't view her inbox. The opposite is true if she logs in first and I switch user.

Who knows what else this SP screwed up but I haven't found yet. Anybody else have this issue and figure out a fix?

At present I have 3 pipex pop accounts and 1 hotmail account. I usually retrieve and send all my mail through outlook 2003, but later on this year I'm going abroad and will be accessing my email through random machines.

What I want to know it, is there any way I can access all my email accounts (Pop and hotmail) through the web, rather than using a client ? I believe Hotmail used to provide this service with its free accounts, but has since stopped, although I am not sure whether this is true or not.

As a side note, I can access my pipex accounts through pipex netmail, which is a web based email service, free to pipex customers. The only problem is, it's so annoying to use. You have to log in three times to access all three accounts, one by one, typing in ludicrous passwords and addresses every time you do. It's a royal pain in the hoop. So my second question is, is there any way I can access all three accounts simulateously ?

I suppose the principle would be the same as accessing three different Hotmail accounts. Do you have to sign out and in when checking three different hotmail accounts too ? Or is there some weay round this.

Any help anyone could give me would be great

Due to layoffs, 2 users had established respectively a Hotmail account through MSN Messenger and an AOL account to read their personal emails.

At start up on both machines, MSN Messenger pops up and/or AOL Messenger pops up.

How do I remove these accounts from each respective machine?

A:Hotmail & AOL accounts

Both programs have a 'start at boot' option that can be disabled it the windows you are seeing pop up at start up. In AIM it's 'prefs' > 'sign on/off' > disable "start AIM when Windows starts".

I'm not sure where in messenger the similar option is located but probably in "options" or "settings" or something similar.

For as long as I can remember if you clicked 'remember me' when you log into hotmail.com it would keep those accounts at the log in screen so you just click one then type the password.

starting this week (i think) it no longer saves more than one account.

[This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason:

Your message was not delivered because the destination computer was
not reachable within the allowed queue period. The amount of time
a message is queued before it is returned depends on local configura-

Most likely there is a network problem that prevented delivery, but
it is also possible that the computer is turned off, or does not
have a mail system running right now.

Your message was not delivered within 0 days and 1 hours.

A:Can't send to hotmail accounts

The explanation in the message sounds about right. It could also be that the e-mail address has been de-activated because the owner hasn't logged into it for 30 days, maybe their inbox is full too. I'm not sure what happens message wise if you try and send to a full hotmail inbox but you're only allowed 2mb for free.

Is it possible for hotmail to remember all my 3 hotmail addresses?
Because the messenger does that when I click on "Remember me", but I always need to retype my email addresses for checking emails.

I know that there is a auto-forward function in hotmail (like from old to new), but that is not what I need.

I remember in WLM 8.5 I never needed to login again to check emails, but WLM 9 does not work that way anymore.

Any ideas?

BTW, this is about remembering the email addresses, not passwords.

Just found out that Microsoft Hotmail no longer supports remote access to new accounts using Outlook Express 6. They give you a message to try to get you to upgrade to the paid service.

Work-around that is still (yet) able to be used to set-up a new account and still use Express to access is to use a NON-US based Hotmail (ie. MSN.com.uk, ninemsn.co.au, etc.) They may eventually get around to doing the same thing on the off-shore sites, but once the account has been set-up, there isn't any problem in continuing to use Express to access them.

Of course, you can always use something else, too, if you want.

After filling in the correct e-mail and password and *before* clicking the Sign In button, change the options below the Sign In button to: Always ask for e-mail address and password
Both accounts will most likely need to be configured that way.

A:Merging 2 or more hotmail accounts

if you just wanna be able to check both accounts at the same time you could probably use outlook express and set it up to check both accounts, thats if hotmail lets you use pop3 access. or maybe go into one of the accounts settings and see if you can set it to just automatically forward all its emails to the other account then just use that other account to get all your emails from both accounts. not sure if thats exactly what your trying to do or not, if not let us know with more detail exactly what your trying to do.

Hi, I've been having this ongoing problem now for 6 months. It seems that all of my accounts have been used to send spam. I have 3 hotmail accounts which, 1 for friends and 2 bogus ones I give out to websites that want an e-mail.

On one of my accounts I get a message from hotmail before I login telling me that my account has "suspicious activities" that someone may be using it to send spam. I login and in my inbox all I see is FW: hkjhklh spam. Now that account I removed all contact lists.

But today I got a warning from Avast about a malware block, that happened to the said account before but now it happens to all my accounts, whenever I click on any link in Hotmail - example: New, Contacts, Drafts, I get that warning no matter which account, something that never happened before.

I use avast anti virus, I routinely run malewarebytes, and windows defender and nothing comes up. Could I have a keylogger? Should I just delete all my accounts and use a different e-mail provider? This is becoming an extreme nuisance and I don't want to be used as a proxy to sell viagra.
