I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

In Lenovo updates, says there's an update for Intel GTX graphics driver; does not update.  I have driver 20.19.55.4474 but Intel has a more recent version, but all I get is an error message to contact my manufacturer, but my warranty has expired.  Tried using device manager and telling it to update from Intel driver that I downloaded from their site but will not do it.  Any ideas?

Hi, I have an issue to update BIOS of my M93p Desktops by an USB Key, I create a DOS Bootable USB Key with the software Rufus (FreeDos) and I copy all files of the flash update program in FBJTxxUSA.ZIP to my DOS bootable memory key. I powered up the system and made sure that my device with the flash program is selected as a boot device.  When I ran the Bios update, I have this error message :I tried with the Bios update by Bootable CD, I have the same issue. Could you help me to find a solution, I can not use the Windows Flash tool, I must use an USB Bios update. Thank you for your help.

A:Issue to update BIOS of my M93p Desktops by USB Key

At the very bottom of the BIOS support page for your system are links to the previous version, try upgrading to it, then to the latest.

Also, please check your model number, there is no M96p.

Hello all, I have recently received an M93P Tiny from a friend which was to be thrown out simply due to his company upgrading their PC's. It worked at first, however, the fan was going super sonic speeds, which was causing the computer to BSoD in Windows 10 which I had installed on an SSD. I read somewhere that the first models of this computer had that problem, however, I figured the problem might be the CPU probably just needed some thermal paste. I figured before I do that, I should do an update, hoping it wouldn't fail... It BSoD'd right in the middle of the bios update. Something told me I should have just done it in the BIOS rather than Windows, but I did anyway and it failed. Now I can't start the computer at all. Well, it starts, and it turns off right before getting to the bios, so I can't do anything in post at all, it will always reset right before I get to the screen and loop. I changed the jumpers around many times, cleared CMOS, removed battery ETC. No go. I heard there was a recovery method using a disk, but I do not have access to a disc drive, as this is a tiny PC. I have the bios on a flash drive, but obviously since I can't get to any menus, I can't choose where to boot from. Can anyone lend some assistance? I know it can't be dead, it stays on if I switch the jumper to one of the other two positions, but I get no post from them. In fact, it's strange because originally, if looking at the motherboard from the front, it seemed t... We've just applied this BIOS update (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS035753) on 4 M93p Tiny machines. 1 of the machines is getting a blinking cursor at boot up (bricked?)3 of the machines can no longer boot to the hard drive. In the 3 machines that are not seeing the hard drive to boot, they occasionally show in the BIOS boot order, but when you try to include them in the boot order they disappear. Hard drives are a recently Windows 7 64-bit image that worked before BIOS update. If we network boot into a PE we can see the hard drive contents. Called Lenovo support but got bounced around... any one see any issues like this?

Hello everyone, I've seen a few threads about similar issues, but here goes: I recently purchased a Thinkcentre m93p from the Lenovo Outlet for a very good price. I used to work with desktops and graphics cards but had switched to laptops for maybe 10 years or so. It seems that the landscape has changed quite a bit with manufacturers whitelisting parts and putting in proprietary power supplies and other complete nonsense.  I am hoping to do a few things with my new desktop in particular: install an SSD and more memory, upgrade the power supply, and upgrade the graphics card. I am comfortable installing the memory and I think I can figure out the SSD. My questions really have to do with the power supply and graphics card. I'd like to install an ATX power supply because I can't seem to find any TFX power supplies that have sufficient wattage and a pci-e 6-pin connector. I know some others have done this, and that it requires a 24-pin to 14-pin connector (which I've ordered). Does the ATX supply fit in the case? Or does it require modification? Or does it need to sit outside the case? As for graphics cards, I've ordered this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8905320 I think it can run off the 280-watt power supply included, but now I'm concerned that it might be too big for the tower case and/or not on Lenovo's whitelist. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Is there a way to get around th... Read more

A:Thinkcentre M93p Upgrades

I run a Gigabyte 750 Ti in my M91p tower with an upgraded ATX power supply (which fits in the case provided they aren't too long, and works with the converter [M92 and later] - best to get a semi-modular supply as there's limited room in the case for unused cables.)   The Gigabyte looks quite a bit shorter than the one you ordered, check the specs.

I also added the front fan (easy to do on the M93 - download and refer to the Hardware Maintenance manual - a standard 92mm fan with rubber mounts will work) and ventilated PCI slot covers at the back to help dissipate heat from the graphics card. Check the readme file for the Nvidia driver on the Lenovo website for this system for the list of supported cards.   And no, there isn't a way around the white list, otherwise it wouldn't be a white list.

Hello, I have a  M93p Thinkcentre that I need to upgrade the PSU for a video adapter, haven't been able to decide what the M93p needs and what will fit. I don't want to order a PSU and not have it fit the M93p Mini Tower case. I've been looking at various Seasonic PSUs as well as a few other brands.  The currently installed PSU is a PS-4281-2 280W Liteon with dimensions approx. a little under ~6 inches tall x very close to 5.5 inches wide x ~3.5 inches deep. The fan is pointing outwards from the rear the the case. Many of the PSUs have the fan on the interior from side of the of the PSU. So I'm not certain if it makes a difference whether the PSU is pushing or pulling the air from the case which has one fan but will eventually have two fans plus the cpu and psu fan. The K4000 video card uses a pci-e 6-pin (3+3) plug for PSU power. Also the motherboard uses a 14-pin connector for power from the PSU along 3 x 4-pin power connectors. It appears the PSU first supplies 2 x 4-pin sata pwr connections to the mother board then the cable extend over to power  the sata drives. I'm uncertain what the 3rd 4-pin connection to the mb is used for. I've come across  various PSU's with different dimensions and almost purchased one but am wondering if their too large and the maximum size PSU the M93p is able to accommodate.  I've found several PSUs, some from eBay others from online stores. most are new or pulled from new PC's that wer... Hi we use with great pleasure the Lenovo m93p as server in a our environment. They would like a charm. recently we faced a situtation and e wanted the servers to turn on at a specific time.  We went into BIOS and set the time to turn on the PVC.  We expected that the PC could be turned on manually. It will not turn on at all.  We took off the CMOS battery to see if it would reset the BIOS settings: Nothing ! The the PC will not turn on... Also no Lenovo screen , nothing  We must also say that we increased the video memory to 1024 MB AND set up the start time. These settings were saved since then the PC would not turn on.... Would appreciate anything that could help in having the pC turn on or resetting the BIOS to default ... Thanks in advance We need to perform somthing alittle more complex .. Will ask after solving this pesky problem Zeprez

A:Lenovo Thinkcentre m93p Tiny won't turn on

I had exactly this problem. After replacing the hard drive, the M93p Tiny would not power on when the power button was pressed. No LED came on and the fan did not spin up. I tried all sorts of things but nothing worked. Finally I took out the CMOS battery for a while and then put it back in again. That did the trick and the computer started. Strangely enough, the BIOS was NOT reset, my custom settings and BIOS password were preserved (!). The computer now works normally again... Jiri.

Hello! I've got a M93p Desktop (ThinkCentre) with a LGA1150 socket and no CPU. Since for me, it made sense that any LGA1150 CPU could work, I purchased a Intel I3-4170, installed it, but there is no video, no beep, nothing, just the fans and hdd works. For my surprise, according to the specs, only two (?) cpus are compatible: one I5 and the other an I7. It is of no use to mention the exact cpu models. I have three questions, I hope someone that was in my situation could help: 1. What is the technical reason why a cpu with the same socket type won't work?2. Besides removing battery, RAM and disk drives, is there anything else I could try?3. Can i just buy ANY motherboard compatible with the I3-4170 and put it in the M93p? Hoping that the RAM modules and PSU are 100% compatible with any component. Thanks for your help!!!!

I'm looking around for a front fan for a M93p Thinkcentre. The M93p parts manual shows a 03T9722 N FRU Front System fan for Towernd a45K6340 N Fru 4 Pin fan There is a space on the front of the case above the speaker and between the drives and  mounting structure. The space is full of holes of which there appears to be four mounting holes approx. ~3 inch square. My P300 Thinkstation has a front fan. However I'm uncertain what type of front fan the M93p uses as some Lenvo PC's use a larger fan. I couldn't find any pics of the P300 fan, only a video of installation which there are a few moments that displays images of the front fan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62HuZjP0cdY I did find this fan for a Lenovo Thinkserver TS140 Front Fan Assembly 45K2306, which is very similar or perhaps the same as the P300 fan The front of the M93p case has many holes. 4 of the holes appear to form a square approx. 2.75" between the holes and approx. 4 inches diagonally.

Hello, I'm thinking of upgrading a M93p I recently picked and still waiting for delivery. It comes with a i7-4770 3.4GHZ cpu, 16GB RAM,  500 HDD and Windows 10 installed. The video adapter installed is a nvidia fx1700, the seller said he thought the memory for the video adapter is 1GB however all the nvidia fx1700s I've seen only have 500MB. I need to edit large image and video files taken with a Nikon DSLR and wondering if 500MB of video and an older video card such as the nvidia fx1700 is going to be enough to edit fairly large image and video files.  In the past I haven't normally played games only flight similator such those produced by Lockheed and Boeing. I recently started looking at various video cards, such as the NVidia GTX 1050, Radeon HD 7670, nVIDIA GeForce GT730, etc. however specifications shows min system PSU requirement is 300 watts. Some are PCI-E 2.0 x16 while others are PCI-E 3.0 x16 M93p PSU specifications    240W 92plus Single output    240W 85plus Single output To upgrade to many of these video adapters designed for gaming would require a PSU upgrade as well

Hey,  So i have 28 stores and they are all using the Thinkcentre M93P ( i3) small form factor desktops. ( they are running a SQL DB ) They are all plugged into the battery backup of brand new APC 725 UPS's.   My issues is sometimes when the store loose's power, the PC powers back up but then says no OS found. And then a disk read error occured. When they ship me the PC, I hear a faint  BEEP, BEEP and I have determined it's the hard drive. Do anyone else have this issue, as of right now I find these units not very tolerable to power loss and I have to keep replacing the drives in the PC's.  anyone have any ideas on how i can possibley prevent this from happening? I looked in the newest BIOS update and I don't see anything in there refrencing the issue im having. ( i believe this is 4 possibly 5 now that i'm after replacing the hard drive in )  ThanksMark

I'm considering, mostly just for the fun of it, upgrading the processor in my M93p Tiny desktop. According to CPU World, the socket type is a Socket 1150 / Socket LGA1150 / Socket H3. My M93p currently has a Intel Core i5-4570T (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i5/Intel-Core%20i5-4570T.html), dual-core 2.9 GHz. I would like to put a quad-core processor in it, but I am concerned with the potential for increased power consumption and thermal load.

I am looking at the following options for upgrading it:

i5-4690K (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i5/Intel-Core%20i5-4690K.html)
i5-4570S (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i5/Intel-Core%20i5-4570S.html)
i7-4785T (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i7/Intel-Core%20i7-4785T.html)
i7-4790K (http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_i7/Intel-Core%20i7-4790K.html)

As I said, my major concern is increased power consumption and thermal load. The Thermal Design Power (TDP) of my current processor is 35 watt. The TDP of the processors I am looking at upgrading to range from 35 watts (the lower powered i7-4785T, not my first choice) to 88 watts. If I go with a TDP of 65 watts or 88 watts, is my heat sink going to be able to handle the thermal load? And is the power supply going to be able to handle the added power consumption. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I am in the process of deploying a new sccm environment with W10, we have a bunch of different Lenovo clients but this model is the only one that is causing me issues. The problem is the Lenovo Application Interface driver wich refuses to work, the key here is that we are using Microsoft Baseline Security, wich denies drivers that are not WHQL signed to be used. I have tried both the 1.0.0.8 and 1.0.0.9 driver for the Application Interface, but both returns Code 39 and does not work. If i deactivate MS Baseline Security both drivers work, but i don't have that option on the environment. I have tried importing them in SCCM and run the extracted exe as a package, with no result. In short, does a WHQL driver exist for this interface?

We are now migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 10.With windows 7 we were running legacy BIOS. Now with Windows 10 it is UEFI and Secure Boot on all machines before deployment of operating system. I have configured the BIOS settings exactly as i wanted on one machine. (UEFI, Boot Order, Secure Boot Enabled)Then i have used CFGWIN.exe to export my settings to a txt file CFGWIN.exe /c /path:c:\settings.txt Now i want to use this configuration on all other Lenovo computers, without going in to BIOS and change all settings manually. So in my OS deployment i run:CFGWIN.exe /r /path:c:\settings.txt (after that i reboot the computers and continue with OS deployment) But BIOS are not set to UEFI, Secure Boot is still disabled? Please help!

I encountered this problem and was lucky to find the solution on this forum. To help others, I am making this new post with more detailed info.

Problem: you wish to update the BIOS (for whatever reason). You either do not have a CD-Rom (disc drive) in your machine, or it is not working.

Solution: locate an external disc drive, or better: install (even if only temporary) a CD/DVD drive: there are lots available for free from anyone who deals with computers.

Reasoning: the "flash using Windows" method is risky. I used it, because the drive that came with a "new"(used) computer was inop., and I didn't want to stop, find one and swap it out. The BIOS flash routine failed before completion and  therefore did not initiate a re-boot. The end result was that the computer would start, but hang after the BIOS loaded and went to boot the OS. No method of starting would work. {Described in this post: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkCentre-A-E-M-S-Series/M92p-no-longer-booting-after-BIOS-update/td-... }

Rant: the text file detailing the "Flash with Windows" utility should include a specific warning that flashing within an OS is inherently _RISKY_! It should strongly recommend using the "make a CD-rom disc" method. Furthermore, the instructions for recovery from the Hardware Maintenance Manual SHOULD BE INC... Read more

Might someone be able to please assist?   Ran the BIOS update to version 9SKT75A through the ThinkVantage System Update and the computer now fails to bring up a BIOS screen or load windows.  Looks like the BIOS update failed even though did not interrupt power supply or boot cycle, per instructions. Looking for the original POST and BIOS update file for M92p Tiny to run the boot block recoery as per Lenovo help article here:  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?DocID=HT077504.  However, the link within the article to download the file for  'ThinkCentre M92/p, M92p Tiny, M82, Edge 92, E31' is broken.  See here:  http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/thinkcentre_bios/9sj942usa.iso  Does any one have the originial BIOS update file for the boot block procedure for this computer that would be willing to share? To Lenovo: can you please fix the following link on your help site and make the original POST and BIOS update file available again?   Thank you, M

Problem solved toay,You need to open your machine. Find the cmos clear jumpers.Move the little cup from positions 1-2 to 2-3. Unplug Hard Disk. Close the machine. Insert a portable USB DVD to a usb port (have a copy of the new bios on the cd) and turn on your machine. It will boot from USB DVD drive and it will load the new bios. Machine will shut down after the new bios update. Open agin the machine, plug the Hard Disk and put back the jumpers to 1-2 position. Unplug USB DVD and it will boot from Hard Disk. That's all. IN OTHER WORDS: Bios update can be done if first you change the jumpers on motherboard.

I'm trying to update the BIOS (current version F.29) on my notebook as recommended by HP.  The new version recommended is version F.2A Rev.A  - "HP strongly recommends transitioning promptly to this updated BIOS version".  However, when I download and run the SP77040.exe file, I get a message below saying "Copy Process Failed!" with the filename: 'XXX Z:\EFI\HP\BIOS\New\0215B.bin XXXXX' (the X's in the filename are chinese characters) Could this mean that my Bios has been hijacked and can this be fixed?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:BIOS Update failing

Hi @MikeHz Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for your post.  Could you post your full produce model and product number (as described here)  >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108 ? Personally, I do not recommend you update the BIOS unless you experience some issues with your existing BIOS and you are sure that the new BIOS will fix it. General recommendation I provide to users/customers is NOT to upgrade BIOS/UEFI unless they experience any kind of specific BIOS/UEFI issue. Updating just for updaing and just for using the latest verson is not solution. Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong. Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.  ** With regards the specific issue you experiece and your question - if you still insist on updating it :No, the update hasn't been hacked/hijacked. What is device/partition Z: ?  Is it a removable media drive (e.g. USB pen drive) ? Can you follow the update method via USB device as mentioned here >> htt... I have the sound problem after the lid is shut i can loose mouse and sound had to do system restore to get it working again. Read a few posts on this forum that there is a fix in an update to the Bios.I have tried sp67441 and sp69946 and installer loads and then tells me WMI not found. Read up about that and checked installation and WMI is installed running and set to automatic.Have to select continue on the error message box and the Bios seems to continue update (cant tell what version it tries to install as flashes on screen to fast!) system shuts down and reboots but still no change to bios version installed which is F.06.Runnng windows 8.! suspect there is a conflict with WMI??I really want this problem fixed seems its well known HP problem on the envy x2 besides rubbish sound quality from laughable Beats Audio!

A:Hp Envyx2 cant update bios keeps failing

Hey @Dodgemnz ,Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand you're experiencing issues updating the BIOS on your ENVY x2 Split notebook. The only update utility that will work for your notebook is sp69946.exe. If you're having issues installing it confirm the steps you're taking are correct here: Updating the BIOS.Make sure any anti-virus or firewall software is disabled, and perform a clean boot of Windows before installing just to be safe.If you still have problems installing after that please try restoring the BIOS before updating. You can see how to do this here: Restoring the BIOS.Let me know if this helps.

I have tried four times to install a BIOS update (Rom Family SSID 2AF7; Version 80.20Ap1) provided within the Support Assistant, on each occation the update fails to install. I get no error messages. The computer restarts, but the previous BIOS version (AMI 80.19 (2014-07-18)) remains installed. I have tried stopping my antivirus program, but this didn't help. I have noticed that the command screen hangs with a flashing cursor, but no instructions are visible and then my computer restarts. Is it possible that the update is corrupt? Any advice on how I should proceed would be welcome.

I have attempted to update the BIOS of a couple M93p desktops and I have bricked each one. The update begins and then the PC freezes. CAPS Lock light on keyboard does not turn on, mouse does nothing. I let one sit for 11 minutes and then did a hard shut down. When I turned it back on, the power light did not light up. The CD drive spun up as did case fans. I found documentation (that I cannot find, at the moment) which said that, if the power light doesn't work, Boot Block Recovery will not work. I pulled the CMOS battery and let the unit sit overnight but to no avail. These are Win 10 boxes. I am using BIOS version FBKTD1A - flashing from the OS via a WinBatch script that simply kicks off Flash.cmd. Do these PCs need new motherboards or is there a chance to recover them? I see that I am not alone: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Security-Malware/Why-are-so-many-users-experiencing-a-bricked-computer-... Skip

Hello, I am looking for a more detailed BIOS changelog for the M93ps we mainly use at our company. Not necessarily as detailed as this post: https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/documents/ht081544 , but certainly more verbose than the recent "[Important] Update includes security fixes." for the last 5 updates ( https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_bios/fbjyccusa.txt ) - especially in the light of the recentish bothering news about dataleaks connected to Lenovo software included with workstations (and mobiles)! Is such a list available somewhere or can anybody shed some light on what exactly have been updated in these 5 recent revisions (and maybe how the problem was solved)? Thanks, Istvan

Hi I was attempting to use the onboard intel graphics and set the video to igp in bios.
Guess what, no video output anywhere ! (not on the GT620 Nvidia card and not on the VGA port of the motherboard).

So it looks like a brick, boots but cannot see a thing.

Any suggestion on how to get out of this trap ?

Note that since I cant see a thing, I cannot get back into the bios to change the parameters back.

Thanks.

A:M93p - no video after BIOS setting change

OK I solved it myself...Get the CD version of the BIOS flash update.Follow the instructions to do the flash update (including moving jumpers around on the motherboard)On first boot after the update, set the video IGD and do not forget to enable multiple monitors. Then both the on board card and the lame GT620 cards will work. The intel 4600 graphics are much better than the GT620.Install the drivers for the interl 4600 on board graphics. A bit scary but with gentle handling it will work. P.S. I cant believe the setup will let you screw up like that with no graphics output available...well it ended well.

I have this weird problem on my M93p Tower, the post screens will only show when the Pci-e card is physically removed from the tower and via the onboard Display Port. The system works 100% otherwise, it boots into windows etc, I only noticed it when I tried to backup via booting into 3rd recovery media I needed to use F12 boot manager which used to work perfectly a month or 2 back and all I got was a blank screen at Post. I then tried all the different onboard ports VGA/Display Port, still nothing, eventually removed the PCi-e card and only then did the Display Port started showing the Post screens, VGA still nothing. I tried seetting the default display type in the Bios to Pci-e(PEG) or auto and that didn't help, saw there was a new BIOS version FBKTCCAUS released on 21 Nov 2016, installed that but made no difference. What else could be the issue, is the MBB perhaps faulty?
