Hi, I just got out of an online chat with an HP technician who informed me, after helping me through troubleshooting for what was a faulty battery, that the Extended Warranty Care Pack taken out for the laptop did not cover the battery. Their reasoning was that "The unit is covered under warranty but the warranty for the batteri is expired." If this is true then when I look up the laptop's current warranty status on HP's website, what it tells me is a bit misleading: "Active: Covered under Extended warranty, 42 months remaining" (for reference HP Support Assistant tells me the warranty for the laptop is a HP Care Pack and lasts until 2020). When I hover over the question mark icon on HP's website next to the warranty status, the icon brings up a box which states: "Warranty Status Types ?Manufacturer?s warranty? refers to the warranty included with the product upon first purchase. ?Extended warranty? refers to any extra warranty coverage or product protection plan, purchased for an additional cost, that extends or supplements the manufacturer?s warranty." So then I'm curious about a few things. 1. How can I see what exactly this Extended Warranty covers? In HP Support Assistant it justs lists HP Care Pack and the date it is set to expire. 2. What exactly does a HP Care Pack normally cover if it doesn't fully extended the warranty as the website lookup would lead you to believe? 3. If the Care Pack doesn't cover the battery, what warranty would have successfully extended the battery's warranty? 4. If the battery is not covered, is my only option to order a new battery through HP? Thank you for your help and clarification.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I recently purchased a post warranty care pack for my nearly two year old laptop. I received the package from HP yesterday, but I cannot register the care pack because the serial number was not included in the package. I was told that you are supposed to receive a certificate with the care package's serial number in order to register it online, but all I received was a small card with a barcode. My warranty expired on 1/15/2016 so I cannot use the live chat option to have this sorted out.The care pack's product number is: U4820PALaptop's product number: J9N59UA#ABAWarranty on laptop started on 1/15/2015.

On Nov 28th I purchased a 3 year HP Care Pack.  My current warranty expires on Dec 28th, 2016. I notice when accessing my HP Support Assistant it is showing that the standard warranty end date is 12/28/2016, which is correct.  However it is showing that I have 2 year warranty remaining and my Care Pack end date is 12/12/18.  According to my information if my current warranty ends on 12/28/2016 and I just purchased a 3-year warranty then the Care Pack end date should be 12/29/2019.   I contacted tech support through my HP Support Assistant and they referred me to www.hpshopping.com and said to contact the Home and Office Sales team to resolve this issue.  I don't find anywhere on that page that pertains to my problem.  When I click on Automatic Warranty Check it will either time out or tell me that can't find my information.  Can someone give me a more specific link or place to go to get this problem corrected ?

I have Lenovo Y50-70 serial number CB32876097. I had purchased an extended warranty for two years. My laptop is currently eligible for extended warranty. From yesterday, my laptop is not charging even while it's connected to charger. It says 'plugged in, not charging' at 0%. But it works without charging while it's connected to the charger and turns off as soon as I plug it out. Since, some techniques I saw on many websites did not work for me, I am thinking of giving it to the service center. So I would like to know what I should be expecting from the service center. Is battery fully covered under extended warranty? Would I get a replacement of battery if that's the problem?

A one-year base battery warranty is the standard norm regardless of the system`s warranty.
 
As per warranty policy:
"Warranty Period for all Lenovo batteries, stylus, and digitizer pens are limited to 12 months unless otherwise specified. This means that Lenovo will provide warranty service without charge for batteries, stylus, and digitizer pens during the 12 months of the warranty period." 
 
It would be best to have it submitted for warranty repair so the service center would be able to check if the systemboard and or battery are the points of failure. They would be able to decide on parts and service coverage as per your current warranty if otherwise specified.

I had bought a HP 15ay008tx laptop in October, 2016 and the battery had a manufacturing date of June, 2016. The problem is that HP Battery Check is not showing any sort of problem in the battery, but in reality, the battery is continuously degrading. The battery loses 20% charge overnight even when it is switched off and the battery backup has degraded to almost half of the starting and that to is degrading fast. I would like to know if my battery is still covered under warranty and how to i go about getting it replaced by HP.

Ah christmas. That time of year your'e daughter opens her HP laptop on xmas day and finds it's faulty. No worries just pop onto HP.com and get that sorted. Hour later...THE WEBSITE IS TOTAL JUNK So please help. What do you do when your brand new laptop's serial number and product number do not work on hp.com I cannot find any contact details due to this. The screen on the laptop has a huge light patch and I want to know if this can be fixed instead of returning it to where I bought it and not having a present for my daughter for the next week.

The computer kept giving an error message that something was wrong whenever I tried to wake it up from sleep.I did a restart and a reset with the same results.However, if I remove the battery pack and run on the power supply it operates normally.I do not understand how the battery can affect it this way when, on battery power, the computer came alive enough to give the error message in the first place. Do I need a replacement battery pack?thanks

Hi,
I recently bought a new, 3rd party power cord for my Toshiba Satellite L300 from eBay.
Recently I've noticed that my battery stops charging earlier and earlier. At first it stopped at 87%, then 83%, then 80% all in one week. I've had the computer for about a year which seems a bit early for it to start degrading so fast, so could it be the power cord?

The Toshiba cord says Model: PA-1750-29, Input: 100-240V~ 50-60Hz 1.5A, Output: 19V[solid line above a dotted line]3.95A
The 3rd party cord says Model: PA-34671ACA, Input: 100-240V~1.5A 50/60Hz, Output: 19V[solid over dotted]3.95A

If the new cord is harmful to my battery, I can just solder its input plug onto the Toshiba charger (that's the only bit that was broken) but I'd rather not risk breaking two power cords if I don't need to.

   HP Notebook 15-BA077S A purchased Oct 16 A fault has occured over the past 8 weeks when 'Copy/Pasting'. Cntrl C to copy a link leads the Laptop to freeze. Ability to close Internet explorer leads to inability to reopen. Laptop needs to be shut down and re started. The problem then could re occur at any time and has even quickly after restart. Purchased through PC World, they have only offered 'replacement of keypad buttons', which doesn't solve the problem. Any solutions welcomed, but I have lost confidence in this product/my current machine so would preferably like to replace or gain refund through Manufacturers warrenty. Is this covered and likely?? Thanks

Hi,     My new System cam with Windows 10 Pre-installed. So there was no Installation Disk along with the package. I dont have any OS backup. So if  anyhing happens to my Hard Disk while the System is in Warranty, do they replace only the hard drive or they will install the windows 10 OS again for me ? Also there is no Product key came along with my System. It is something came with digital key , which i am not sure. But the Windows is activated. Hi, From my understanding no warranty for software BUT users normally get 3 months support (again for software). In your case: (a) There is a Recovery partition and instructions how to create Recovery media (DVD's, USB).(b) From Windows 8, Microsoft put product key for Windows in BIOS therefore you can reinstall or use recovery media to rebuild your machine. No need to activate again.(c) Upgrading RAM, HDD won't effect Windows, buy changing motherboard will normally require re-activate Windows. Regards.

I have an HP Pavilion Notebook, well out of warranty. I keep getting the pop-up to buy an extended warranty (which I do not want), and when I click 'next', it refers to inability of IE to respond. How can I get rid of this pop-up for once and for all? I have pop-up blocker on in Firefox. I have even selected "already bought one" and "buy now", but get same result.

Hi everyone,i have a problem after the purchase of an Omen 15-ax000nl. I have bought the extended warranty of 3 years all inclusive, product paied with paypal on best2serve. ll be in the market for a new laptop soon with my tax return and am wondering if those here think the extra extended warranties are worth it? Most laptops come with a 12 month warranty. The place I am looking at offer a 1 year extension beyond that for $169 and a two year extension for $179 (of course at those prices if I got one at all it would be the two year). They also offer a 2 year accidental damage policy as well but I won't be getting that as my renter's insurance covers that. But what do people here think? Is it worth it? I currently have a Toshiba laptop that has worked fine for 2 and a half years. If it were a desktop, I wouldn't even be considering it. I prefer to build my own of those anyway and also prefer to fix my own problems. For reference, i am looking for something with a dual core processor, 1 to 2 gigs of RAM, a DVD burner and a dedicated video card.

Also, what brands do you prefer for laptops and why. Thanks.

I own a Dell Inspiron 5547. I have purchased a Dell notebook for my wife as well and my choice for the company notebook was also Dell. This was because I have trusted the quality and the 3 year warranty.Parts Only warranty 11/4/14 - 11/4/15Carry-in Service/Return to Depot warranty 11/4/14 - 11/4/17
A long time ago, a screw fell out from the notebook and there was no way to put it back, it always came out. Please note that I have never ever tried to do any modifications/repairs on the notebook. As I could not afford to put it into the service for 2 weeks, I've tried to open and close it always with maximum care. Still, it broke eventually and I needed to go to the local Hungarian warranty partner, where I was told that Dell won't cover the issue and I got an offer over USD 150 for repair.
I admit that with turning in the notebook, the damages would have been smaller, but still, the place for the screw would have needed a change and also the plastic and other parts were not as strong as required. I've googled Dell hinge issues and it seems to be a common issue.
In order to keep my trust in Dell, I would like at least a partial guarantee. Else, due to the lack of trust I will need to look for another brand when I will need to replace laptops. This is something I would not like.

In Jan. 2016 I had an HP Pavilion All-in-One 27 -n110 (Touch), Ser. #[personal information removed], and I purchased the xtended warranty in May 2016, , Order #[personal information removed]. fpr $129.99 and tax of $7.80, for a total of $$137.79. Due to problems with the touchscreen and numerous contacts with HP, they finally sent me the HP Envy All-in-One PC 27-n014, Ser. #[personal information removed].
See Case #[personal information removed].  Andy H of HP Support called me to let me know that HP was sending my the new Envy so He could close the Case #. I explained about purchasing the extended warranty, and said that he should transfer the warranty to the new desktop (Envy) and I would close the case.  He said the warranty would be transferred. I received the Envy on 6/29/16. I keep getting pop-ups advising me that my warranty period expires on 6/29/17. and I should purchase an extended warranty. I checked with online HP support today, and there has been no transfer of the warranty.  Please advise.

I have a Lenovo ID account registered to my gmail account. For some reason a second Lenovo account was generated for my microsoft account. I am not sure if latter was generated while setting up my new Yoga laptop. If I check the Vantage app on my laptop it doesn't show my extended warranty that I have registred to my gmail Lenovo ID. Is there a possibility to erase the outlook-linked account? Or merge the two accounts. It is really confusing with two accounts.

My Envy 15t laptop, less than a month old, is falling apart. One of the two hinges supporting the monitor is broken and I can see a power cord of some type sticking out a bit. The monitor is separating in that location. I bought a 3-year care plan so thought I could get help right away but I can't find anything on the paperwork I received or the HP site that tells me what to do. Please help.

I have a laptop that Dell service cannot narrow down which part is bad.  The system still works with an external monitor. Since they can't decide if its the motherboard or the video card they want me to mail it to the depot.  I have NBD and complete care on this system.  Why should I be without a system for 3-5 days when my warranty is for NBD and complete care to boot.  Dell will not send a tech out with more than one part.  Why did I pay extra for a warranty Dell will not honor?
