Bizarre Outlook 2007 and Win 7 issue

Q: Bizarre Outlook 2007 and Win 7 issue

Hi, currently have the final Windows 7 on two machines and Office 2007. My outlook works great on one machine and cannot connect with the pop3 or smtp servers on the other. They are setup identically. I tried a repair and Outlook said it could not connect with either. Tried this on both of my email accounts on different providers (Yahoo and XO). Again, works fine on one machine but not on the other. I have my data (pst) files on an external 500GB drive that I use between different machines.

Any clues.

I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

Are you trying to share this same PST file between both machines?

If so, does the PST file open OK, on the second machine when the other machine does NOT have the PST file open?

For some reason, one of our users suddenly cannot reposition the cursor in emails by using the arrow keys. The delete key does not work, either. If he wishes to reposition the cursor, he has to use the mouse. The backspace key DOES work. He says that this problem is exclusive to outlook, and thinks he inadvertantly changed a setting, but I can't seem to find one that applies. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!!

Hi all

I can provide the code if necessary, but this issue is really confusing me, and seems to be more to do with the differences between how excel 2007 saves files.

I have written a dozen macros in VBA (Excel 2003) and recently upgraded to 2007. When in run the macros
in 2007, they run fine.

HOWEVER - when someone who is still on Excel 2003 uses the files after me, they get error messages, even though the code was written for 2003, and is completely unchanged.

Compile Error : Cant Find Project or Library

the Debugger then highlights the following line of code

Dim currentDate as Date
currentDate = Date (the Date section is where I am getting the error)

That line of code works in Excel 2003, if the file has not been saved by Excel 2007.

Anyone have any ideas?

At this I am considering downgrading my Excel back to 2003 version.

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks & Regards
Patrick

When I compose a new email message and I begin to type the name, of course the list of previous email addresses appear....I arrow down, pick the right one...no issue...

However, if I see the email address I want and I use my mouse to choose the email, I get the first letter of the name appearing as a contact by itself, and then it will add the correct email address.

How do I get rid of this?

Hello everyone,

I am having an issue with Outlook 2007 that started to happen recently.

E-mail is received into my Inbox, after a certain amount of time, or if I shut down Outlook and re-start, the e-mails return to the Personal Folders Inbox.

I have double checked the Rules on my machine, and verified it against a co-workers machine to make sure that they are correct, however this keeps happening.

Any other settings that could be causing this, other that in Outlook?

Any help is appreciated.

Morning everyone,

Some of our clients have a problem with their outlook...

When they use the quick search it says that 'items are still being indexed' and is not bringing up any on some and others only bring up 3 or 4.

We have rebuilt the index, on numerous occasions, and believe the problem to lie with the updates of last week (which is when the problem started).

I 'think' the updates included an update for searching, but correct me if I am wrong. Has anyone else experienced this, if so, have you managed to fix it. There is nothing on 'google' that suggests another fix other than rebuild the index, or there is non that I can see.

Our clients at the company it has affected are using Win7 Pro and Outlook'07.

Thank you all for your time for looking.

Hi there - hope all is well. Very strange question a client has been experiencing. Trying to avoid a full office suite reinstall but I will probably end up needing to do so. Let's see if any of you have ever seen this issue before.

Client uses Outlook 2007 for email. Depending on the email, and it seems to be very random, SOME links work and SOME do not work (to the point where Outlook does not even supply an error or warning saying link has been blocked - click here to allow). The links are functional. If I hit forward and ctrl+click, the same link may even open or may still not open. THEN, once a link that does not open is selected, moving the cursor around with the mouse in future email does NOT work. Client needs to use the arrow keys to move the cursor. There is a registry fix for this (data folder in word - delete a key and the cursor functions again). The cursor works fine until another link that does not open is chosen. And like I said, 50% of incoming email work if containing a link or links, 50% does not.

I add the problematic sender to the safe senders list, does not help. It would seem that only certain senders are problematic. I unchecked disable links and other functionality in phishing email even though they are not being sent to junk mail - no help. I tried an office repair - no help. It is strange how the link issue causes the mouse cursor issue. And even more strangely, when the cursor does not change positions in outlook with the mouse and need for arrow... Read more

I use Outlook 2007 on 2 pcs. I have multiple email accts from a few different domains on both pcs. There is specific email address that is only on 1 pc. I want to add it the the other pc WITH ALL ON THE SENT & RECEIVED EMAILS FOR ONLY THAT ADDRESS.

Is it possible to back up (export) just that 1 email account's emails (inbox & outbox) while not effecting the rest of the emails?

If I can back up & export just that 1 email account's emails, can I then import that email acct's emails on to the other pc without disrupting the accounts already on that 2nd pc?

Hi all,
Our organisation uses Outlook 2007 with RPC over HTTPS (Outlook Anywhere) and it doesn't seem to work with Windows 7.

I have Windows 7 Beta 1 (Build 7000) and Outlook 2007 sp1 with all hotfixes. I've read in several places to use NTLM however this is not an options for us.

Has anyone identified the issue or know of a workaround??

A:Outlook 2007 RPC over HTTPS issue

this seems to be a pretty popular solution. I am having the same problem, but it works when I am onsite. I will try this solution when i get home

Quote:
Several of us at the office have been trying out the new Windows 7 - It?s been a positive experience so far and quite a bit faster than Vista. One problem popped up on all the machines - When we tried to configure Outlook 2007 to connect to our hosted exchange server (using the prf file so we knew it was configured right) it would continuously prompt for the password.
This appears to be the result of the way hosted exchange systems require the use of a full email as the username to differentiate between client domains. Windows 7 doesn?t care for this and the connection fails. It may take a bit of doing but if you find your domain name and username from your provider and enter it as follows:
Domain\Username
You?ll find it functions perfectly. The domain is not the domain name from your email it is something else - In our case I had to hit our server configuration and used the settings for configuring mobile activesync on my windows mobile device. Our provider happens to use a special username to differentiate it?s users. Once we found that we were happily reading emails again.

I am having an issue with Outlook 2007 that I can not find a fix.

I use Time Warner Cable as my ISP and have followed their instructions for setting up e-mail in Outlook 2007 and still have the following problems.

I have three e-mail accounts that hit one inbox in Outlook 2007. When sending and recieving e-mails, it will work for one, two maybe three days then I recieve error sending/recieving on one or multiple of the e-mail accounts.

The error message is the following.

Task '[email protected] - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC78) : 'Cannot send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 530 Authentication is required before sending [R0107005]'

The temporary fix is to go into tools/acct settings/select appropriate e-mail acct/change/more settings/outgoing server tab/check or uncheck my outgoing server requires authentication (log on using checked with password filled in when checked)

This works for a few days then errors again. I go through these steps again and do the opposite as before to get it to work.

This is very annoying and I would greatly appreciate it if someone had a permanate fix for this.

Thanks in advance!

A:Outlook 2007 E-mail Issue

My suggestion could be trying an alternate outgoing port like port 587 or 465 rather then the default port 25.

Also check with your ISP for an alternate outgoing server to use.

Hello all,
I have a issue with Outlook2007 that is so strange. I received an email from a client this morning requesting some information. Nothing unusual. I replied back and now this is where the issue comes up. Outlook 2007 will error out with a connection issue when connecting. After some troubleshooting the issue was a sentence in the original email. Yes I am sure everyone is going "OK were did this guy come from". But I am serious. When I delete one sentence from the original email on replying the message will go thru without issue. Anybody ever hear / see this issue?

thank you for your time

Hi,

I discovered today that none of my emails have gone through since Monday afternoon. I believe the issue must have began when I removed an email account from Outlook Connector (it was the default account). Everything seemed to be going fine - I just assumed emails were going out. Last night, I went to close Outlook and it said that there were unsent items in my outbox. There weren't.

Today when I discovered that nothing was going out, I re-added the email account that I removed. However, there is nothing in that outbox either.

I'm stressed about this - I run a home business and have lost a lot of correspondence to clients and customers.

Thanks,
Nicole

We've been having intermittant issues with Outlook 2007 "not responding", hanging up, freezing...whatever you want to call it....after weeks and weeks of troubleshooting...today I have narrowed it down to the belkin 54g wireless router.

I did this by finally taking the router out of the mix and could not cause the outlook 2007 to lock up again...thought it could be a lan cable...tried both cables in that mix from the DSL modem to the computer without the router and it still worked fine.

Hooked back up the router and managed to lock it up again...SO...all that being said is there a setting or someting on the router that I may be missing or something that someone knows about that I do not?

BTW, if this matters at all...we have a second computer that is also running outlook 2007 attached to the same hosted exchange server and it's having no problems at all.

Previously we looked at any problems with ost and pst files, ran Outlook diagnostics, etc to no avail - the router is the only problem that I could find.

The computer this is running on is an XP and all firmware is up-to-date on the router and all updates for MS office have been made.

I am desperate, if anyone can help, I would be most appreciative and would be willing to pay if someone can fix it.

thanks,

I have been using Outllok 2007 for sometime now and have encountered no probs until I recently added two more mail accounts (POP3).

These accounts are basically just aliases from my main ISP provided account (personal account). I have set them up as seperate accounts in Outlook so I can send directly from them (as they are for my businesses that I run from home) and doesnt display my normal personal address in the senders field.

The issue I am having is that Outlook consistantly prompts me for my network password even tho I have clicked "Remember..." everytime.

Interestingly enough when I click on manual Send/Recieve it doesnt ask me

I hope this makes sense... I not sure how best to explain it all!

BTW I found a hotfix on Microsoft about this type of problem and it being a registry issue. I followed their step by step walkthrough but still no joy!

Thanks

Would renaming a email folder cause the contents to be re-indexed? Also is there a way of indexing so it only indexes outlook emails nothing else?

Howdy all,

We use Outlook 2007 SP2 as our email client running on XP Professional SP3. My boss has an interesting thing happening and I need some help correcting this. She used a 3 pane window configuration in Outlook. When she highlights an email (her highlight is cyan) in the inbox she can then read the message in her reading pane. If there is an attachment (usually PDF or Excel in her case) she clicks on it and the appropriate program opens, but when she closes that program and returns to Outlook, the highlighted feature (showing which email she's on in her inbox) is now gone. At first I thought the OS hadn't returned focus on the Outlook window, but that's not the case.

I went to my machine to see about replicating the issue. My cursor is charcoal and when I click on an attachment, the highlighting turns a lighter color of grey. When I return from the attachment, the highlight is still lighter until I click on that (or another) email -- then it turns back to charcoal.

I talked to my boss and she said it didn't used to do this and she didn't intentionally change anything. I looked at changing "selected items" in the Advanced Appearance (Desktop properties) box, but that doesn't seem to have any bearing on the Outlook situation. Does anyone know why this is doing this and how to correct it?

Thanks in advance!

A:Outlook 2007 Task Request issue

Unless both of you are connected to an Exchange Server (2003 or 2007), and they talk to each other, you can't send tasks that way. They go via email. The recipient must drag the file to the task pane and it will automatically place, but you won't get a response. Tasks are managed by the Free/Busy part of Exchange, not Outlook, which is only a client.

Had a similar issue when a user installed Chrome and then uninstalled it. Did you uninstall or upgrade Chrome recently? It seems that they still need to polish some of the uninstall code as it leaves some registry items in a broken state. It?s not that IE isn?t the default browser, it?s that the registry entry for the default browser gets mucked up by Chrome. Checking and unchecking default browser in IE or Chrome won?t fix it once it?s busted.

All,

I have an issue that relates to OUtlook 2007 address book. When I go into the Global Address list and double click on the contact, the properites come up but when I try to click on the same contact more than once the properies box doesn't come up. So basially I can't view the properties for a contact twice. It's almost as though it thinks the properies box is still open. This is happening to all users. After this occurs when a user closes out Outlook, Outlook.exe process keeps running and uses over 90% of cpu. We are not using cache mode in Outlook.

I have tried disabling all the Outlook Add-ins to see if a third party add-in was causing the issue. I have tried re-creating the profile and reparing Outlook. I tried downloading a copy of the Global address list. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Now 2 months later, i uninstalled office 2010 and reinstalled 2007 but in outlook 2007 i can't see any of my emails that were send or received while i was using outlook 2010. Where can i find these emails? Please help me cause these emails are related to my work....

Suddenly I can't open my calendar or contacts in Outlook 2007. Have been using this software for several months. Can open mail and notes folders but not the other two above. When I click the folder the hand sign comes on and the screen freezes. If I try to open another folder the screen goes white and hangs. I have to start Task manager to shut the session down. Only recent changes are MS updates from the web but can't see any problems there. No error messages appear and all other programs run OK. Other recent change was upgrading virus software to Norton 360. Ops system is Vista Home Premium. Have searched MS website for a fix and this site. Can anyone suggest a fix.

Hello all,
My boss just got a new Lenovo Yoga 900 with Win 10 on it. Our business uses Office 2007 and the last month or so he has been having an issue where incoming emails (some not all) the text is ridiculously small, illegibly small. I thought I had found a fix by deleting the Data registry key under the word registry folder. While it did fix the problem, the issue returned the past week. As my search has turned up nada as far as a permanent solution, I don't want to keep deleting that reg key and rebooting to solve the problem as my boss travels a lot.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. All updates have been installed for both Office and Win 10.

Hey all, I have an interesting one for you. We've migrated to Office 2007 and I have a user who, in Outlook 2003, would open a shared calendar and do a search for something and it would show only those calendar items that contained the search term and it would show them on a regular calendar view with the days of the week. In Outlook 2007 it's displaying these search results in a list view format. I can't figure out how to get it to view only what was searched for in a regular week or month type of view. If I do the search and then go to View | Current View and select Day/Week/Month then I lose the search and I'm taken to the view that shows everything in the calendar. Any ideas?

I am having an issue with outlook 2007.

I have a number of signatures installed which i used as templates for common emails. however when using signatures outlook is not checking any spellings. Even if it is in text above the signatures.

My only way to get this to work is under the spelling options-set language and tick and then untick the "Do not check spelling and grammar box". (This is intially highlighted in blue as MS shows when it coveres multiple sections with different settings).

I have an issue with respect to restoring my contacts in Outlook 2007. When I import the ContactsBackup Outlook file, it sends the backup to a personal folder file named "contacts". All the information is there, but obviously not where I need it, on the Contacts tab (after Mail, Calendar, before Tasks). Any idea where I'm going wrong?

I have a jpeg signature attached to my emails so whenever I send an email you see a business card type picture in the body.

Problem is sometimes when composing a message if I try and copy a paste say a website link for example, instead of pasting the link and signature dialog box pops up not allowing me to paste. I can't seem to figure out why or how to prevent this. Funny thing is it doesn't happen all the time. But when it does nothing I seem to do will allow me to paste the item in the email. Is this just another Outlook 2007 foul up?

Hi there,

I have an issue whereby I have forwarded an email to someboy but unsure to whom as it does not appear in my sent items. When I click on the original email in my inbox it states the email was forwarded at a particular point in time. I cannot however see it in my sent items.

I have not deleted anything from the sent items so i am puzzled as to why this is occurring. Can anybody help me find out how can identify to whom i forward the email to even though i cannot tell from my "sent items"?

thank you

A:Outlook 2007 Forward Email Issue

I don't have that much knowledge of how Outllok takes care of that, the only setting I know is the setting where you state explicitly that you want a copy in Sent Items of every sent item.
It could be that when forwarding you changed this setting for this particular mail and therefore cannot find it in the sent items folder.
