Yoga 520 Touchpad adjustment

Q: Yoga 520 Touchpad adjustment

Hi, i have just purchased a Yoga 520 laptop, and am wantin to find out if there is any way to adjust the area of the touchpad, so that the area where the buttons are not part of the "touch" area, i quite often while working will have my left finger on the left click button at the bottom of the touchpad while navigating and swiping etc with my right hand. Because the buttons are part of the touch area, it keeps thinking i am trying to do gestures because of 2 fingers in the touch area at the same time, is there anyway to change this so that the button area is not "touch" before i put some tape there so it doesnt see my finger. Thanks in advance Danny

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I know my Yoga 710 is well past the warranty period and I complained to Lenovo long ago about the issue - the backlight is at full brightness all the time, it cannot be adjusted in any manner, ever, running Windows. And yes, I've successfully installed Windows 7 Professional x64 on this Yoga 710 in the recent past with 100% hardware support, even the touch screen was working and Device Manager was fully compliant, no yellow or red error notifications at all.But even under Windows 7 I had no ability to adjust the brightness and that means so much for the vaunted "8 hours of battery life." Now given this laptop is older, and the battery holds about 97% capacity from the original factory state, but because that backlight cannot be adjusted at all that means I barely get 2 hours from this thing even with the adjustments using Lenovo Vantage and the latest drivers for ALL the hardware. I really have to say I'm quite pissed at Lenovo for not resolving this because I've seen a bunch of people here and at other forums complaining about this problem with the Yoga series of laptops/convertibles.Oh, and I shut down rigtht now when I'm done with this post, then insert a USB drive with any Linux distro on it - Manjaro, Arch, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora, it doesn't matter - and as soon as it boots to the desktop I can adjust the brightness without a single issue. So, I wonder why this issue is a problem for Windows and why it's never been adequately resolved. I spent time with var... Read more

I cannot find where to decrease the sensitivity of the beautiful touch screen on my new Yoga idepad... and the users manual Lenovo Vantage directs me to is something of a joke on the matter... IOW, not any help. There must be a setting that will reduce the number of times the screen sends me off on unintended internet websites. Another setting I have looked for is for screen enlargment commands... I'm used to using two-finger enlargement, but the yoga idepad seems to be set for one-finger. Perhaps that is in the same place as the sensitivity adjustment?

So if you thought your new shiny Yoga had a bad touchpad, it may not be the touchpad at all! My Yoga 720 15.6 was acting really strange where every so often using the touchpad wouldnt work, and trying to use the keyboard wouldnt work at all. I first thought it was a touchpad issue but realized that this is a system wide issue. Something is causing Windows to start hitching. I turned off Adaptive Brightness in Power settings and the problem has gone away! I had a hunch it was this when I noticed the adaptive brightness was doing its job of gradually changing the brightness but looked like it was lagging while it was dimming/brightening itself. Lenovo Support: Please address this problem through any channels necessary because I want Adaptive Brightness but right now I have to have it disabled in order to use Windows without any hitches.

The touchpad on my yoga 3 only works intermittently.  Some days it shows up and the cursor shows on the screen.  Other days the system does not seem to recognize it exists.  It does not show up in device mager when its not working.    I end up pluggin in an external mouse.  The has been going on for about 6 months.  Anyone have any ideas?  Assume this is a hardware issue of some sort.

I have just purchased my LENOVO YOGA 500. And the touchpad ist not working at all - every now and then it freezes. It's not an Elan device, and yes, it is updated. I'm getting no answers from anybody (in Lenovo).  If you do not give me a real solution for the issue, or a different laptop, I promise I will make a campaign against LENOVO in Italy, as long as I work in eComm. I would't expect to see the worst customer service ever at a US company.

Hi, my touchpad is not working after reseting the laptop. I've uninstalled and re-installed the ultra nav driver. The laptop detects the touchpad and does not show any erros with it. The settings for the touch pad were first grayed out not allowing me to enable it and after uninstallling and re-installing the driver the touch pad settings have vanished. (see attached picture) the trackpoint works fine and 3 buttons above the touch pad all respond well.

My new Yoga 11e often boots with the touch pad not working. A restart by using the touch screen and it works again... I've got the newest drivers installed. And Windows 8.1 x64 is fully updated. On the occasions when it doesn't work, there are several Event ID 219 errors (task category 212) in the System Event Log. These refer to to following - : 'The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0002''The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0003''The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0004''The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0005''The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ROOT\SYSTEM\0006''The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device HID\ITE8386&Col02\4&3a253277&0&001' This is the order they appear in - with the 0002 happening first. Note the different caps on the last one - thats as per Event Log. I've set the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework' service to Automatic. This is listed as 'Automatic (Trigger Start)'. But the problem still occurs -  mainly after the laptop have been turned off for more than 10 minutes.  Anyone else noticed this problem?

A:Yoga 11e TouchPad Issue

UPDATE After innocently installing the suggested Power Management Driver update via the Lenovo System Update application Windows 8 completely killed itself and I had to use the recovery USB stick I made to Refresh windows and get it working again! That's really disappointing Lenovo - and quite ridiculous that a suggested update should break the laptop so easily. After this the SYSTEM errors vanished - so I've linked those errors to the Logitech Anywhere MX mouse I was using. This mouse has not been reconnected.... The trackpad still fails to function though - with the same error in Event Log. Going to run all the main updates (apart from the Power Management one!) in System Updates and see what happens.

This Lenovo Yoga 11e Chromebook was issued to me by my school. I've had it for a little while now, and I've kept it in excellent condition. However, very recently, the touchpad started freezing for up to 15 or so seconds at a time. It also clicks randomly some times when I only intend to move the cursor. Some times the place that the cursor is when I click isn't the place on the screen that actually gets clicked, as if something needs to be recalibrated. The reason I mentioned this was a school-issued Chromebook is because that means I cannot alter the device in anyway. So, I can't really uninstall and reinstall any drivers. If, before the school year ends, I have no success, I will take the device to tech support and instead of getting the issue actually taken care of, I will be issued a new Chromebook. If there's any information I need to provide so that you can help me out, please request it and it will be provided. Thank you!

Hi folks,I had it already one month ago and since yesterday again:I used the Yoga with Software "PDF Annotator", typing and using the pen for annotations in a pdf at the same time. Not in Tablet- but in normal Laptop-Mode. After that, I could not use the touchpad anymore, it would not respond. Moving the mouse with the trackball works. And the touchscreen works as well.At the same time, it switched on capslock and it's not possible to change that. And then once in a while everything is fine again and then it starts again. Rebooting doesn't solve the problem.Software, also BIOS, is updated (yesterday).Drivers are all new (should I remove them though and install again?) I hope you can help me!Jule

I'm using Windows 10 and I can't find any settings for the touchpad. When I run Lenovo Settings, the only touchpad-related setting I have is to turn the touchpad on or off. When I go to All Settings in Windows, there is just a Mouse option (not Mouse & Settings as I see on many other people's screenshots). When I use Control Panel to go to Mouse, there are just the standard mouse settings - nothing related to a touchpad. And I'm very happy with the way my mouse is working so I don't want to tweak any of its settings. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hi, So I have a Yoga 920, and I have a problem with the touchpad. If I want to do small adjument to the cursor, I need to move my finger past a little distance where the touchpad seems to not register the tracking. And when I go far enough with my finger, the cursor jumps to the position where it would be if it would have start moving with my finger. After that, the cursor works great until I lift my finger and put it back on the touchpad, doing the same thing. There is like a small buffer zone where the cursor would not move, maybe to prevent accidental touch, which is great, but the problem is with the little jump that the cursor do, it makes doing small adjusments really hard. I can do (really) small circle with my finger and the cursor does not move at all. I test this on a lot of other laptop, and none have the same problem. Thanks for any help, please tell me if you have the same issue.Beurnii

In Yoga 900 the touchpad does not scroll sometimes even I updated all the drivers or restored the computer. I thought it was just me having this problem but then I read in the reviews on Lenovo web site that some users was complaining quote "trackpad isn't reliable as it doesn't scroll sometimes. Not sure if I am missing something or this is genuinely a problem. in any case, would appreciate Lenovo's attention on this".

To be more concrete the scrolling with two fingers with the touchpad (trackpad) seems to work well in desktop apps like Chrome, but does not seem to work well in windows metro or windows metro app. For example, going to Windows 10 Button > All apps, scrolling will not work there with two fingers using touchpad. Nor will it work in Windows 10 > Settings > any options. Switching to Chrome it will imediately work smoothly.

Number of users affected is at least 2 so I decided to bring it up here so it can be resolved.

A:Yoga 900 - Touchpad does not scroll sometimes

I have the same problem with the touchpad/trackpad. Chrome, IE, and Edge two finger scroll acceptably.   Windows (start menu and settings) and metro apps will work after a reboot until you click on something and then scrolling breaks completely (or behaves very erratically in these applications). I've tried reinstalling the touchpad drivers (trying to uninstall fails for me) and creating the "UseScrollCursor" registry key that some people have reported, but I haven't had any success. I'm glad I purchased with a 15 day return policy. I will wait a few days to see if a fix comes out, but I can't live with this type of bug.

I've looked around for a solution to my problem and haven't found one, so sorry if this is a repeat post.  I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, running Windows10.  I am still under warranty, so sending it in is an option, but I'm a student and not having my laptop for an extended period of time would be incredibly inconvenient.  I don't have any other issues with my laptop. About 5 months ago, the touchpad on my computer just stopped working.  No response to anything.  I downloaded the latest drivers, installed them and restarted, and still nothing.  I did some more research and tried to follow advice, but ran into what I think is the root of the problem.  When I tried to see if my touchpad was enabled in Settings, only my wireless mouse is listed.  I looked further and found that my touchpad doesn't show up in 'Device Manager' under the 'Mice and Other Pointing Devices' subsection. I'm not particularly techie, but am willing to try anything to regain functionality.  It's an inconvenience to have to either use the touchscreen or carry around my mouse all the time.  Any pointers down the right road towards fixing this (and not having to have it serviced) would be grealy appreciated!  Thanks in advance.
