Windows Update vs Dell Update - Intel HD Graphics 530/630 Driver

Q: Windows Update vs Dell Update - Intel HD Graphics 530/630 Driver

Recently Windows updated my Intel HD Graphics 630 driver. A few days later the same driver was released on Dell's driver support page.
Is there any correlation between Windows Update and Dell's drivers? Who does update the drivers Microsoft themselves or Dell needs to release the driver to Microsoft?
As this is the first time when Windows updated the driver is this how the Intel HD Graphics drivers are to be kept up-to-date via Windows Update?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

ZINGAM,
Referring to the Intel HD graphics driver.
Windows gets code from Intel for the driver and they will implement it in the OS. Dell also gets code from Intel and will release it. Also, Intel will post the driver on their site to download. You can uninstall the Microsoft driver if you choose and install the Dell update driver.

Dell Update reports there's an update for "Intel HD Graphics Driver". When I click Install Now, it looks like it installed, but it reports the same update again an hour later (or immediately if I force update check).
I have this problem on a XPS 13 9350. This is a recurring problem happening to a lot of people for various updates.
If a Dell assistant reads this, please help us all the way through until it's fixed once and for all. Appreciate it!

Dear Lenovo, My sister has a Lenovo G710 laptop, which has intel HD Graphics 4600, but Lenovo did not updated it's driver for a long time. The G710 is based on i3 CPU, so it is still not so bad, but some 3D programs produce errors/glitches, probably because of the old graphics driver.Lenovo updated the driver for other laptops which use the same 4600 graphics (for E450 for example), but I can not install that driver.Intel has an updated driver for 4600 graphics too, but I can not install it either. Can I ask for an updated graphics driver for G710, or could someone offer me a solution?

Go to Intel | Data Center Solutions, IOT, and PC Innovation Click on Support/Download Drivers and finally automatically find drivers. This will require installing a small Intel update utility. Run that and it will list any applicable Intel drivers for your PC.

That is what I do for the Intel CPU/Video drivers for my i7 3770 CPU.

One of my programs has been crashing recently and, after contacting the support team of the program, it seems like the issue is caused by my Intel graphics driver being out of date. Since HP does not update the driver automatically, support suggested downloading the most recent driver from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25978/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-15-36- . However, the installer wizard throws the notification that this driver is not installed for my machine. Is it safe to install the driver anyway, through the steps listed at the page mentioned above? If not, is there another procedure to update my driver to the latest version?

The newest graphics drivers for the Thinkpad P50 contain Intel driver version 21.20.16.4550 (the latest available from the Support site). This version of the driver (as well as older versions) has a bug which causes Google Chrome to jitter when in full screen and moving the mouse around the page. (See http://crbug.com/672448 .) Intel has released a version of the drivers (21.20.16.4590) which is reported to fix this problem. I tried to install the updated driver from Intel, but the installer tells me that I can't because I need a driver version customized by Lenovo instead. Is there some way around that to install the new Intel driver? Will it hurt in any way to do that? Is there some way to get Lenovo to release a new set of drivers with the updates from Intel? Thanks!

I have an Acer Aspire 5745 and it has Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. I have Intel HD Graphics version 8.15.10.2104. I decided to upload it so I searched my laptop on Acer's site but they offer drivers for 64bit only so I downloaded drivers for another Acer model laptop (it uses the same drivers as my model does). I tried to install it but it says "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer".
So I decided to update my driver through device manager and I asked it to update from the folder where I had extracted the driver downloaded from Acer's site. But it says that your driver is up-to-date (it surely isn't).
Please help me, I need to update this driver for smooth gameplay.....

A:Update error in Intel HD Graphics driver

Have you tried the 64 bit version that Acer says is for your specific model? Many times drivers are for both 32 and 64 bit OS. You can also try the Intel site for your Intel chipset.

Proper game play isn't just the video driver. The PC must meet (usually exceed) all the other requirements of the game.

Hello, I have a Yoga 720 15" notebook and after updating Adobe Premiere Pro CC to the latest version, I have been prompted to update my Intel Graphics Driver. I didn't think much of it, so I went to the Intel Driver & Support Assistant and saw that listed under Intel HD Graphics 630, I have installed version x.x.x.4749 with an update available for the latest version, x.x.x.6890.  The problem is that when I try to install the update via Intel's site, I get an error that reads, "The driver being installed is not valid for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer." I then click to find more information and that Lenovo has their own (I suppose altered) version of this driver and that I need to get it from. When I went to Lenovo Support for the drivers, the only driver there is for the x.x.x.4749 version. I'll place my machine information below, but if anyone knows of a way to update these drivers, I would greatly appreciate it!  YOGA 720-15IKB 80X7 Intel i7-7700HQ16.0 GB RAM  I'm really new to this, so if there's any other information that would be needed, please let me know. Windows Update is not telling me I need or can update my Wireless networking, but Intel's Update Driver Utility says I should and is offering the update. How would you recommend I proceed?

A:Should I trust Intel's Driver Update utility or Windows Update?

G'day Rolo,

The difference between the two drivers is that the Windows one is digital signed/tested by Microsoft. I would say that unless the Intel one delivers more benefit than the Windows one, and everything works as expected, then there is no need to update.

You often see this with graphics card drivers too, for example.

After a sudden overnight update to Windows 10 the machine started to freeze and crash - mostly while the mouse cursor moves or dialog opens or other display changes happen quickly. It is here:https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81500/Intel-HD-Graphics-3000-for-2nd-Generation-Intel-Core-...The version there is listed as 15.28.24.64.4229 which is signed to a year ago, with a slightly lower version number released 2/2016 (16 months ago). It is only given as an .exe package which will not install because of spec incompatibility. Can I get the Win8 driver for the Win10 machine? (note that you screen resolution will likely change) when it switches to the basic driver.Close Device ManagerYou should now be able to install the latest Intel DCH driver you downloaded earlier successfully.  Cheers,

I keep getting the VDR TDR Failure (igdkmd64.sys) error.  I open up the Intel Driver Update Utility & it states that it cannot update the driver.Error:  A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer.  The Intel Driver Update Utlity is not able to update the driver.  Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues.  Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer. I have  version 15.40.25.4463 of Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 10. How am I to update this driver?  This is extremely frustrating.  Why would you make a product that is difficult to update? JPaw

This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from a HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's. It appears you have the latest production release of the Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 10. The only other driver listed on Intel's support website is 14.40.26.4474 which is a BETA version. This BETA driver doesn't appear to address the issue you are having. HP hasn't made it difficult to update the driver. The Intel driver installer is what is telling you it can't install the driver. This is because there is a customized version of the driver on the computer and replacing it with a generic driver may cause issues or loss of functionality of the hardware. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please click the White KUDOS "Thumbs Up" to show your appreciation

Windows Update is pushing an Intel graphics driver for T480 and T480s that is broken on Windows 10 Pro 1803 OEM. The recommended update on the Lenovo Support site is also broken. After Windows Update has installed this driver, the screen goes black and I have a blinking cursor. The only thing that works is to turn the laptop off and on again but then after initializing windows I'm supposed to be getting the login screen but instead I get a completely backlit black screen that doesn't respond to anything - no cursor, no blinking, nothing. The workaround is topower off and on 3 times in order to go into safe modeuninstall the graphics card driver in Device Manager and check the box to delete the driver fileschange from Yes (recommended) to No (your device might not work as expected) in Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Installation Settings->Do you want to automatically download manufacturers' apps and custom icons available for your devices.I've experienced this on 2 T480s and 1 T480 in the last 30 hours, so I know it's a general issue. I can reproduce the issue with a brand new laptop fresh out of the box, not domain-joined. The driver that works is from March 2018. Any drivers after this date seem to produce the above issue. The issue doesn't seem to exist on Windows 10 Pro 1709.

I just downloaded and installed the newest driver for the Intel HD Graphics 5500 in my Lenovo T450s. Now ON1 Photo RAW starts up and briefly shows the user-interface but then the program window goes black. The only thing I can see on screen is the white Title bar on top with the ON1 logo and program name + the Minimize, Maximize and Exit buttons on the right side. Even though I cannot see the Menu bar, if I hover my mouse pointer over the area where the Menu bar is, the menus will open and I can see and select menu items.I uninstalled ON1, downloaded it again and installed with Admin credentials but the problem is still there. I have no problems with any other programs. Is there a way to "roll back" to the old graphics driver? My system: Lenovo T450s Intel Core i7-5600U, 20GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel Graphics 5500 (OpenGL ver. 4.4) and I'm running Windows 10 Pro (10.0.17134)

This keeps coming up when I use the Intel(R) Driver Update Utility 2.5

"A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer.
The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver
instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues.
Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer."

Should I change from "Customized computer manufacturer driver" to the latest one from here (a "generic Intel driver) - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

I am looking for the option which gives better fps

HP Supports Assistant shows that I need Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver - sp72370 driver for my Envy 360. Before I install this driver I can see that things are a bit laggy, ofcourse I dont have graphics driver. So I install this driver and everything works fine. However, Windows Update (always) pushes an update to this driver namely Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) HD Graphics Family (This driver was provided by Intel Corporation for support of Intel(R) HD Graphics Family), and the moment the update is installed everything goes down. The laptop starts lagging, the lag is visible while opening drives and programs, especially Firefox becomes a mess. Typing becomes terribly laggy, you can shift to tabs, page opening is slow like hell.

Ony because of this lag I had to clean install Windows 10 thrice as I though that it will fix the problem. I had to run ChkDsk for quite a few times on my 750 GB HDD. But then by hit and trial I narrowed down the problem to this Update, and we all know now it cant be uninstalled either. Please help.

I was encountering this problem last week:
http://www.sevenforums.com/general-d...all-files.html

I did a clean reinstall and was sort-of able to get the laptop to boot to normal mode. I say "sort-of" because it still has a couple of issues:
1) After the clean install, Windows update downloaded about 150 updates. After rebooting, I ran into the same issue as before - unable to boot into normal mode. I did another clean reinstall and installed the Windows updates 1 by 1 and found that installing the Intel Graphics adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics adapter WDDM1.2 - Intel HD Graphics 4000 was causing the problem. If I don't install this update, I don't have the file corruption issue.

2) The other problem is that I can't get my laptop to display on an external display. The Win + P keys don't bring up the display selection dialog. I installed the above-mentioned Intel graphics update and the Win + P keys were working now - but now the laptop goes into safe mode within 10-20 seconds of booting up - same as the original problem. So now I can't display on an external monitor unless I install the Intel driver but the driver corrupts the system files and I run into the original problem.

3) The last issue is that the 'space' key on the laptop is acting oddly - hitting the space key almost always resets the cursor pointer a few words before where it's supposed to be, or the cursor just disappears. This didn't happen prior to the file corruption so I'm wondering if this is ... Read more

Hello! I have a Dell Inspiron 546 that -- incredibly -- successfully downloaded the Windows 10 May 2019 update. All is running well, except my screen is stretched, and my resolution is low -- 1028-720. I can't find an update for my old ATI 3200 HD graphics adapter, but I did find a compatible Graphics Driver for only about $45. Am I correct that if I replace the graphics driver, my display problems will be solved? Thanks so much, all! Folkiephil

Whoa....you never ever pay for a driver.

First check your display settings and set it to recommended. If you go to Dells support site you can download the driver from there. You will need to input your service tag number.....

Updated Intel Graphics drivers today to ver. 26.20.100.7529 from 28/11 too see if this would help on the missing keystrokes issue. Then the brightness didn't work, screen was on 100%. Tried uninstalling drivers. Still didn't work. Had to roll back Windows. Anybody having this problem too?
