Extreme slow computer action, CPU at 100%

Q: Extreme slow computer action, CPU at 100%

Just recently the M6300 hhas begun to be stupidly slow after being on for a few minutes taking several seconds to respond to a key press.
CPU usage shows 100%, considerable TCIP, but no wireless activity. Scans show no malware. Computer has (unsupported) win 7 annd that has been no problem for 2 years.
The only clue is that some service called Dell data vault service has been trying to load a driver. Zonealarm blocked it, and the service was trying to load that driver every 2 seconds. I don't know what Dell data vault service is, and don't want it. It may be malware.
The computer is unusable in this condition.
NO, win 7 is NOT the problem it has been trouble-free for 2 years.
Suggestions?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a fairly new PC, but at times it becomes extremely slow (namely when browsing with firefox and/or using "Xampp" - which never use'd to happen before), it freezes to the limit where everything becomes unaccesible, and I have to litterally unplug the computer.

I'm a web developer theirfore I use "Xampp" which is a local server, it worked fine, but during this period according to the processes, "httpd.exe" which is one of "Xampp"s dependencies has contributed to the slowness as its shown "50-100%" CPU.

I've reason to believe its due to some sort of malware, since the computer is fairly new, and Xampp never use to take up that much CPU until now...

Hiya and welcome to Tech Support Guy

Are you still having this problem? If so, do the following:
Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and... Read more

Hi,

Ok, a note that this problem is occurring on both my laptop & my desktop so I know that it's a HUGE problem.

Also against my wishes, my ISP wanted me to test using IE (I NEVER use IE) & for some reason there's no lag on IE, although I only tested it for a second.

I haven't been able to work for 5 days now so I really hope someone can help me quickly & yes I know everyone is busy & it's long weekend.

I normally cam with 3-4 different sites some in HD & some without HD. This is on Chrome, as I have everything set up there & it always ran faster than on Fx.

5 days ago I started to get extreme lag which was so bad I shut down all cam sites except one. Even with only one cam open in HD the lag was so bad I couldn't work.

I then tried to cam on my desktop & same problem.

I tried to cam on Fx on the laptop & while it was slightly better, it wasn't normal plus again just like on the laptop, I had problems even being able to click on radio buttons, checkboxes & moving from tab to tab.

I rebooted my computer 5 times & ran CCleaner & deleted all cache & nothing helped. Even now while typing this everything is moving at a snails pace.

I thought maybe it was the webcam itself b/c about 2 weeks ago it started to show me in a white soft hue, but on Skype it seems to work fine.

Then I thought it was my ISP. I'm in a country where the cable is one company, &... Read more

A:Extreme lag when camming & computer is slow as well

Ok, this is solved. I couldn't wait any longer, but I wanted others to know what the problem was.

It was FLASH. It was corrupt. I had a feeling & mentioned it to him, so he went with that. I had thought it was the latest version's issue, but in the end it was corrupt.

It took the techie ages to get rid of all the left over flash files when he uninstalled it & then when he tried to put it back, it wouldn't go back. It took over 2 hours with me on Skype with him.

And my bad, I keep forgetting to clear the flash cache, so I advise anyone who doesn't know this, to do that. I wish CCleaner could do that so I'd get everything done in one shot.

Thanks

Whenever I connect external monitor or TV via HDMI the computer is slow/lagging (even moving windows or doing a right click is slow).I tried to isolate the problem and it seems to happen only when I use "Second screen only" or when the laptop lid is closes, if the lid is open and I use "Extend" or "Duplicate" everything's fine. Also, if I do reset while the monitor is still connected, it's working ok (but this is not a good solution for me as I want to keep the work evniornment).I tried playing with Display settings but nothing seems to help, maybe the community can please help me?

I've been having a terrible slow down in recent time. I think the main reason behind that is Windows Explorer. While I am not using it the PC works okay. Then I open it and after 10-15 min all I can do is restart the machine, often only manually. Maybe, there is another reason for that, though.

Any help will be appreciated! Thank you.

Lately my pc has been crawling, even when performing (just about) the simplest tasks. It often freezes up while surfing simple web pages, forcing me to quit everything I'm doing and restart! It's extremely frustrating and I'm close to firing it out the nearest window. I've only 256mb RAM, maybe that's a contributing factor at times when I've a few power hungry programmes open? But, it's gotten ridiculous lately and I'm sure I've got some nasties hiding somewhere!I've done everything advised in the Preparation guide - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/34773/preparation-guide-for-use-before-using-malware-removal-tools-and-requesting-help/And even re-downloaded hijackthis after being directed to the thread advising me to do so after my first posting log attempt ... so here goes a second time - Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 23:39:28, on 02/06/2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16441)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\Stardock\SDMCP.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgamsvr.exeC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgupsvc.exeC:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgemc.exeC:\Program Files\GameSpot\DownloadManager_Win32.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\EPSON\EBA... Hello Cagey and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I don't see any signs of infections in the log but there is a bit of housekeeping that we can do and there is also a program that has the potential to download malware.First let's do the housekeeping.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}_ - (no file)O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} - http://software-dl.real.com/2867c1e26d6cca...ip/RdxIE601.cabO16 - DPF: {91433D86-9F27-402C-B5E3-DEBDD122C339} - http://www.netvenda.com/sites/gampr-ie/iep/games7.cabNow close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.I would also recommend uninstalling Torrent Manager. It is considered unsafe and capable of downloading malware. See the information here. The choice is yours but I would not keep it installed. The HijackThis forum deals exclusively with virus and malware issues. HijackThis does not have the capability to analyze performance, hardware or application issues. Hi there.

My partner is still running Windows ME (ugh!) -- but with IE6.

As you can probably guess from the thread title - when she right-clicks a link and selects the 'open in new window' option it can take up to 4/5 seconds for the new window to open and the page to start loading.

When left-clicking a link as normal, new pages open fine in the current window - it's only when trying to open the link in a new window that the problem occurs. This has only seemed to start happening in recent weeks.

As she's running ME windows update doesn't offer much in the way of support nowadays...but i did check and she does have SP1 pack applied.

Do any of you lovely people have any ideas of how to re-speed this action up?
I was going to try the new IE7 - but it doesn't look like it's ME compatible.

Thanks

Learned to love W7, but then about a month ago I got a pretty bad Malware infection and ended up having to reinstall Vista, then W7 (Docs stayed intact). Since then my mouse has been very sluggish and the computer has generally been very slow and unresponsive. A friend of mine has said he experienced the same thing after a reinstall. I'm wondering if this is something common, or if any of you have experienced this yourselves or can offer any advise? Maybe there's some setting that can be tweaked?

ok so just recently I got broadband internet because we have always been out of range for everything, including cable and DSL and stuff like that. so for Christmas my dad got wireless internet. (not exactly sure what its called but has some sort of antenea/satelite lookiing thing that is at this website http://ejourney.com/wireless.html) well that is what we have and we got the cheapest package that you can. so of course its not lightning fast but at least its better than dialup. so now that that is out of the way... my download speed are terrible sometimes! just now I was trying to download a file and it started out at like 68kbs and then sometimes it stays steady but most of the time it drops down to around 4 or 5 kbs (sometimes it stays around 23 or so but sometimes it stops completely because it is soooooo slow. Oh, by the way I am using a laptop that is connected wirelessly to the internet. I was just wondering why my speeds are so low. and if there is any way of increasing them.

Hi
I can see one piece of malware that needs to come out..

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads Save the text that will open (report.txt) to your desktop.

1) Go to Start > Control Panel >Network Connections. Right click your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on Properties.
* Make a note of the settings before you change them just in case you need to put them back how they were.
Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice.

2) Go to Start > Run, enter CMD and click OK.
At the Dos Prompt Screen, type in cd\ and then press <ENTER>.
Now type in ipconfig /flushdns and then press <ENTER>. (notice the space after ipconfig)
Close the command prompt window.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

Hi! does anyone experience like the one I had? My PC performed extremely delayed action/response when opening and closing programs (vice-versa), also in any browser plus slow motion and freezing too. I don't want to reformat the drive again.

My OS windows xp professional service pack 2. In addition, my internet explorer ver. 7 plus Mozilla as an alternative as it work little faster but now they performed almost the same.

Appreciate any ideas/tips from you guys!

A:Xp Svc Pack 2 Too Delayed Action, Slow Down & Freezing

Hi jerryjay

In many cases, such a slowdown can be a sign of malware infection. Run some thorough scans, to check for that. Should you see evidence of serious infection, try the 5-Step Security Checklist in our TSF Security forums --- http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...oval-help.html

If the system proves clean, yet continues to run abnormally slow --
1) Check that the hard drive is not set to PIO Mode (if you've an IDE drive, you will want the appropriate DMA Mode)
2) Run diagnostics on the hard drive --- http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
3) Check the Bios Setup screens to make sure that the proper timings and such are correct. (If the date/time have reverted backwards several years, the PC likely needs a new CMOS battery ... it can't hold the correct settings if the battery is too weak. If you need to replace the battery, here's a guide for that --- http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...&product=94878

Best of luck

I bought a ThinkPad X1 Extreme and I've been using it since nearly two weeks now. My set-up specs are:  Intel Core i7 8750H16GB RAM512GB SSD WDC PC SN720 SDAQNTW-512G-1001NVIDIA GeForce 1050Ti with Max-Q4K Touch display Windows 10 Pro Given such gorgeous specs, I was expecting a lightining fast machine. However, it doesn't feel so.Cold boot (restart) takes usually from 15s to 20s. Normal boot (Windows fast start-up) is taking from 10s to 15s. Wake up from sleep also takes long, nearly 10s. The screen needs 5s to go from black (with the power button led still flashing) to login screen and from there it takes another 5s to activate biometrics (fingerprint and Windows Hello), verify identity and then enter desktop.Word and Excel need 2s to open (wich is 1s more than a 4 years old ASUS laptop I was using before, with way worse specs).Matlab R2106a requires an outstanding 40s to open, while on an old MacBook Pro only needs 15s. VirtualBox needs 7s to open and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS from VirtualBox took nearly 1 full minute to show the login screen. Plugging the AC cable does make some difference, however not so much for heavy software like Matlab (30s with AC). And all this was with max performance mode setted within Windows and also Lenovo Vantage utility software.  I don't think it's something hardware related, since Cinebench is giving me 1365 cb with Windows increased battery mode and 2178 cb with AC plugged in and max performance mode. This is just a small thing, but my X1 Extreme feels like it takes awfully long to wake from sleep. Opening the lid of my laptop, I expect it to be ready to go immediately, especially with a supposedly excellent SSD. But the screen stays black for a second or two, then the power button flashes, a few more seconds go by, the screen finally turns on, a few more seconds and Windows Hello decides to activate, the mouse finally starts to respond, and then I'm finally in. Just feels awfully janky for a performance device. Anyone experience this or have any fixes?

Hello, I've had some issues with my web browser over the past few days. I've run multiple virus scans as well as using ad-aware and spyblaster and I've come up with nothing.

I'm currently using firefox, but I've also tried google chrome and windows explorer and they run even worse. I seem to be able to ping websites okay but as soon as it gets to 'connecting', it is very slow and frequently times out completely. I've tried gaming online, using messengers, etc, without any lag issues, so it seems to be limited to browsers, which leads me to believe this is some kind of malware that my scanners aren't picking up.

Below is the DDS log and attached are the other logs.

Thanks!

It appears that you have two antivirus programs installed and running, AVG and Ad-Watch. While this may seem like better protection, they can actually conflict with one another and cause system instability or even system hangs.

In additon, you will have to uninstall AVG in order to run ComboFix, as AVG targets ComboFix's embedded files and prevents ComboFix from running.

Uninstall AVG via Programs and Features in your Control Panel, then reboot.

If ComboFix still detects AVG after uninstalling AVG and rebooting, try removing AVG remnants with AppRemover:

not sure if this is the right thread to post my question.
I am working with a Laptop, Windows 2010 program. Since a few days I have noticed that when trying to open websites it takes extremly long for the website to come up.
Sometimes so long that I give you and log off.
I have run my antivirus program many times (Bidvest) to see if I 'accidently' have been invested by some virus, but so far nothing was discovered except some cookies.
is there anything what I could do to speed up this again?
Any suggestions?
Thank you already for any help.

I have 2 systems with which I am having this problem. I don't know if it's an issue of the operating systems not being equipped to handle large amounts of RAM or if the RAM itself is defective or if it's something else altogether. I can say for certain that my P3 450 system with 512 ram running on 98se is smoother than either of the below mentioned systems.
System 1:
Windows 2000 (upgraded from 98se)
1.2Ghz Athlon
1GB SDRAM
64mb DDR GeForce2
Abit KT7-A RAID Motherboard

System 2:
Windows XP (upgraded from 2000)
2.5Ghz P4
1GB DDR @333Mhz
128mb DDR GeForce4
Asus P4S8X Motherboard

Here's what happens:
It seems like the longer the computer is running the worse this gets or it might just be the more applications I have going. If I try to to load a webpage, IE will sit there like it didn't ever get the command and then a minute later the page will suddenly come up. If I try to load a program, it will do the same thing... act like it never got the command, then after a LONG delay, pop it up. It also happens when I'm trying to switch windows. The new window will take a long time to load. If I preform a command within a window, I am unable to touch anything else during the delay period. It's like my whole system is locked up for that time. It's to the point where I'm having to restart my computer every 3 hours just to get back to functional.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

A:WinXP/2K delayed/slow reaction after command/action

It very well may be that you have too much running at one time. That will definitely delay things. I also know that a clean install of an operating system is always best verses an upgrade from one to another. Try not to have many programs running at once, this may help.

Hello, and thank you for trying to help me. My families computer has been infected with a virus, or malware. I tried doing scans with superantispyware and mcaffee but the things that they deleted didn't fix the problem.

What happens is about seven internet explorer boxes will open up at sites that you never visited, they are strange, one is usually for some sort of dating site and others are for some sort of flash game. Sometimes, but not always, there is a box asking you to click ok to fix the problem. I do not believe anyone clicked any of these pages, instead I told them to end the processes.

Also, I don't go on this computer much but I have noticed its extremely slow, I have a much faster computer so maybe I'm just used to that but to me it seems like the cpu or something is being used by the virus. as there is even somtimes a delay in the letters that I'm typing showing up.

I fixed most of my Wi-Fi issues today by updating bios. I hadn't before because it said that the current version and the one I was trying to update to were the same. Today, I thought, "What the heck? It won't hurt anything." After the subsequent reboot, Wi-Fi works awesomely.

Maybe it could work for you too?

I have a Dell Inspiron15 Laptop with Vista and IE8.
Since quite a while it crashed completely about once per day while I was working in MS Word. All I could do was shut it down by pushing the power button 4 seconds and then start up again. The following, however, does not apply to software installed on my laptop; that works fine.
Now, since about three days, I am having problems in IE. When starting the Internet Explorer, it takes about 35 seconds to build up my Yahoo homepage. When I type an address in the address bar, first it takes about 5 seconds for each letter I deleted, then another 5 seconds for each letter of the new address to show, while a "not responding" comes up in between, so "not responding" shows, goes away and a letter shows, then again "not responding", goes away and a letter shows, etc., etc., until the address is complete. Then it takes at least another 5 seconds, usually longer, for the site to come up. The day before yesterday it was so bad that I could hardly get any site up. I did a clean up, a defrag, and a total Norton virus scan over night. My homepage is coming up a little faster now (about 25 seconds), but the problem of going to other sites still persists.
Does anybody know what is going on here? Except for taking it all down and re-install (and I'm not even sure that that would help), I am at the end of my poor wits. Thanks a lot in advance.

Windows 7 x86
4GB RAM

So I was helping a coworker diagnose some issues with his computer and scanned a few USB keys that I thought might be infected - I couldn't find anything. (Today I read how Stuxnet was transmitted and realized that those files wouldn't be detected by any scanner..so I'm very curious, maybe this was something similar).. The day I helped him (Tuesday), my computer was fine, as was the next day. I took yesterday off and when I came back today I was noticing things weren't running right. Logon became much longer and now I'm experiencing bouts of unresponsiveness. The mouse still works but I can't click on anything, windows become Not Responding but if I wait then things pick back up. There's no disk usage and CPU is pretty much idle all the time. I've tried checking out ProcMon but I'm still learning how to use it so nothing is sticking out yet... although there could be but I don't understand yet.

I'm running a quick MBAM scan right now and so far nothing is detected but I don't think anything will. This is very odd.

Some wierd symptoms - Opening Firefox, it takes forever to connect to Google (homepage).
Opening Notepad++ takes about 2 minutes (should be instant!)

I just don't know where to start looking, hoping to get a hand.

Thanks,

Svchost.exe Extreme Memory Usage Crashes Computer When Computer Idle
I am currently experiencing a problem that started just a few days ago where the svchost.exe process keeps taking up memory on my computer even when the computer is idle and continues to grow to taking up to 99% of memory before it crashes/freezes the computer and it has to be restarted several times a day to clear the memory back down. However sometimes when I restart the computer within an hour or a couple of hours or sometimes less the memory will get exhausted again.

One special note is that since my Windows 7 OS was preinstalled on my HP computer, I do not have access to the original Windows DVD and the DVD drive on my computer is currently broken and is unable to be used.

I downloaded the TSG SysInfo tool and the FRST tool with the following results.

I have 1000mbps internet connection. When I booted my Laptop (T430) from a USB with Linux Mint and checked the internet speed, it was 800+ Mbps. With Windows 10 Pro it is only ~150Mbps.Windows version: 1703I had to restore my windows to this version because after the last bigger update (1709) the whole laptop was so slow that it was impossible to work with. The internet speed was only ~50-70Mbps.Well, now the system fast enough that at least I can work on it. But still, 800+ vs 150 is a huge gap.Any idea what should I do?It is so annoying and disappointing that such an expensive laptop (even if it is 5 years old) with 16 GB RAM and with a Samsung SSD 850 Pro is totally useless. It is ridiculous.Every driver is up to date. I am connecting to the internet via cable, wifi is turned off.

I eagerly awaited the online release of HL2, and once it was fully released I immediately went in to play (after setting video settings and the like). Unfortunately, every time I have tried to start a new game and play, everything loads up, but once the actual game starts (since it's a new game it goes to the title screen first), it slows to an absolute crawl. Even when I press escape to exit its extremely jittery, and only goes away when I exit. Now, this is not simply low fps - it is actually in slow-motion. I'm getting about a frame per second, in slowmo. Normally, when one would get really low fps, the actual gametime wouldn't slowdown - however, with my problem it does.

By the way, I have been playing Counter-Strike Source flawlessly beforehand, and I can still play it flawlessly now, so I can't seem to think of a problem from my video card. Another thing is interesting too - I occassionally play lemmings on internet explorer (someone was kind enough to host it), and once about 50 or so lemmings are on screen, everything gets extremely slow (its a progressive slide to slowmotion hell). Even though lemmings would run perfectly on any 100mhz computer, my 2250mhz Athlon processor cannot handle it. Obviously, its not the mhz that's the issue - there is some other problem with it.

The same problem at least seems to be happening for Half Life 2. In any event, I uninstalled Steam and am going to reinstall all the game files to see if that works.

This is getting extremely annoying, if anyone could try to come up with a solution it'd be great. Thanks!

Hello All,

After spending a lot of time isolating the specific update that was giving me the extremely slow reboot time, (from 5 seconds to 150 seconds after update) I was able to determine that Windows optional update -Qualcomm Atheroos Communication - Bluetooth Controller - Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 Bluetooth 4.0 + HS was the cause of the lag.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same problem and might have a solution to the lag. from 5 seconds to nearly 3 minutes is a substantial lag in restarting the computer.

I'm hoping that someone might have a solution to this problem.

The computer is a MSI GS70 229US.

thanks for the help!

A:Extreme slow rebooting speed after windows update

Hi,

Always best to download drivers from manufacturers instead.

For Atheros, this is good to use though: ATHEROS Bluetooth drivers for Windows

As far as reboot time, it is special after Windows Update. It is expected to take longer usually. There is only a problem when you reboot like 3 or 4 times and the issue remains.

But ya, just update from the link. If you already have the latest they have there, check back in a few days.

Hello folks,

Well, at this moment, my computer is on a sad state of disrepair. The following are some of the symptoms:

1. Cannot see hidden files and folders, even when the option is enabled in Folder Options.
2. Extremely slow startup, frequently beginning with a message such as "Data Execution Protection has closed Windows Explorer in order to protect your computer".
3. Frequent pop-up virus warnings from Norton AntiVirus, identifying threats as "Trojan.NsAnti.Packed" but is unable to repair/remove the affected files. The files are listed as C:\xk2n.bat and C:\pnt.com
4. Frequent lockups and crashes, e.g. right now I cannot use the Task Bar because it's "frozen" and same with the desktop.
5. Sometimes I cannot copy/paste.
6. I have received the "System shutdown due to RPC service terminated unexepectedly" countdown. Also a similar one but with DCOM or something.

What I have done so far is run Norton AntiVirus and let it "fix" some of the problems it encountered, but that didn't do much since it just 'solved' about 3 of the myriad of threats detected. I ran msconfig and unticked "cvko" (located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\cvko.exe) from the Startup list.

As you can see, there are a lot of things going wrong. I would appreciate your help very much. I would like to avoid having to reformat, or I'd like to return my computer to a working state decent enough so I can reformat later when I have more time.

My problem is weird. I bought a brand new Lenovo z50-75 laptop. 4 cores, 4 Gb RAM, etc. I installed a 64 bit Windows 7 (SP1) on it. After I installed the Windows, the boot was long and the programs loaded slow too. So I downloaded the latest Ahci drivers (14.9), but nothing changed. I decided to try this out with SSD (Kingston SSDNow V300). The results were the same, the machine was SLOW! The Ahci is ON - I checked it in BIOS. What is happening? Please help me!

Hi HyperX and welcome to the community,

There was a similar problem over here and it looks like they fixed it.  Maybe it will work for you.

Action Center on my Win 10 64-bit PC sometimes works correctly and posts messages when an event occurs, e.g. an email being delivered or a USB stick being removed from a port. At other times though, the messages may not be displayed until 10 - 60 minutes after the event.

Also, should displayed messages be retained in Action Center at all? Is there a log?

Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

A:Action Center displays messages after the action has taken place

ive had action center issues since the start. most of the times it doesnt say anything and suddenly gives me 15-20x "anniversary update is here" which has to be removed that 15-20x afterwards.

still not working correctly and im banging my head to wall now and then with it

It seems like there a lot of people experiencing very similar issues as me, but there are some slight differences. If I let it hang long enough, SOMEtimes it will finish booting up(takes about 5 min), but not always. I usually have to kill explorer.exe and restart it using task manager. I can use, like others here, the explorer window, but thats it. The screen is black, no taskbar, no start menu or desktop background. What could cause this, would a registry repair program fix it, is it spyware, or is it just a broken Windows OS?

ps. I started my own thread, so I wouldnt hijack someone else's, so please help me out here, even if you've already stated the same stuff.

Many people have problems with wacom tablets and Win 7, l had. (Win 7-64 bit/ Wacom Intous 3)

(Problem 1)
I've lost the driver after restart,
(Problem 2)
got really annoyed with the cursor rings
(Problem 3)
and experienced slow pen action.

Working for severeral days with these issues, uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting preferenses for the wacom intous 3 tablet, delaying the wacom driver load... and so on.., did not help that much. Nothing I tried worked out completely perfect. Therefore I made a decision to follow the procedure below, - to solve all of the problems mentioned, and it's working!

I write this to hopefully spare some people the unnecessary time and frustrations with these problems.
Win 7 are equipped with software for Tablets PC's, which's interferring/messing up the wacom tablet driver.
(The lost driver)
I was thinking; do I need the Tablet PC in Win 7? Answer: No! I have a Notebook.
But it didn`t work out just to disable the Tablet PC in "Computer management, Services." (Right click on My Computer, Manage, Services And Applications, Services)

The Procedure / Solution
is drastic and pretty time consuming, but for me absolute necessary for a permanent fix.
I saved all my settings and files, reformatted and reinstalled win7 and all the programs.

I followed this algoritm:

Reinstalled Win7
First: I did not plug in the wacom tablet, and did not install the wacom drivers at this point.
Installed all my programs EXCEPT Waco... Read more

Brilliant, thanks, the cursor rings were driving me nuts. Disabling flicks did it. Thanks!

Some places I have checked:This thread involves a laptop that is already set up. Mine is stuck in windows 10 setup. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Thinkpad-x1-extreme-sluggish-performance/td-p...I tried this, and have tried shutting down the system multiple times. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4020048/windows-oobe-fails-when-you-start-a-new-windows-bas..."Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Business Laptop 20MF000DUS 15.6" 4K/UHD touch screen, Intel 8th Gen i7-8750H, NVIDIA GTX 1050Ti, 32GB RAM, 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, Windows 10 Pro" --------------I just purchased a new X1 Extreme, it has a 1 TB SSD, so I assumed that Windows setup would be a breeze, right? Just a moment... Wrong. Right out of the box it was terribly slow. I could enter my language and location just fine, but when it got to network and account is when it slowed down, and you'd think my computer was 20 years old with how long the "Just a moment..." would stay on screen after trying to sign in. After a certain timeout, windows will present the error: "OOBEIDPS" jump to setting up an offline account. When I get this far, I reboot the computer, and try again, because the "Just a moment" screens persist on offline account.  Only once, I managed to get to face ID recognition, after signing in and things were going well, but once it scanned my face, I sat waiting endlessly while it told me "Just a moment..." This is not the standard of quality I expect from a $2500... Read more
