Alienware 15 R3 Recovery Image in Dell Support Site.

Q: Alienware 15 R3 Recovery Image in Dell Support Site.

Has anyone tried using the recovery disc available at dell support site? I was not able to create or clone my factory issue SSD and I used to reinstall windows using the recovery disc but only to find out that it does not come with the drivers. You have to manually download everything from drivers to application.
I notice there are two ISO available.
I tried the second one (for dell) but that does not have any drivers included. What is the difference between the two? i was hoping to get an recovery disc that included everything.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi all, Ive followed the instructions given to me by Tech support and gone to the link listed under my Service Tag where there is the option to download my Windows 8.1 ISO image along with instructions which Ive printed off.
I will be installing from a USB flash drive and the instructions to create the bootable USB installation media are straight forward and easy to follow using Diskpart. Then simply Mount the image and copy all files over onto the USB flash drive.
Im a little confused though when reading the instructions under How to Reinstall Windows 8.1. there are two options PCs with BIOS boot mode and PCs with UEFI boot mode. I purchased my Inspiron laptop late 2015 so it has UEFI boot mode with Secure Boot. Under the UEFI boot instructions it talks about disabling Secure Boot and for USB installation media set Boot order to Internal ODD device. I don't understand..a USB flash drive isnt an Internal ODD device as far as im aware.
So without doing anything to System Setup Ive tried inserting a flash drive, tapping F12. It says UEFI boot mode and Secure Boot is enabled and the flash drive is listed second one down underneath my Toshiba hard disc. It seems to me that I have to follow the instructions for PCs with BIOS boot mode even though my system is UEFI boot mode!! Am I missing something here?

Hi!
I've a DELL INSPIRON ONE 2020 All-In-One PC (purchased on 15th April, 2013). I installed the Insider's Build of Windows 10 x64 about 2 months ago. I wasn't satisfied with it's performance, so I decided to reinstall Windows 8 in it (which came preinstalled as OEM when I purchased the PC). But unfortunately (for me), the DELL BACKUP AND RECOVERY software which I discretely installed in it failed to apply the factory image with error somewhat stating, "DBAR failed to apply the image". Also, the Dell Backup and Recovery is not even available in the Bootup Recovery mode and not even if I press F8 or other function keys. I googled and found methods to apply the image using ImageX tool in boot mode. I put the hotfix KB2525084 (actually the ImageX tool) in my Pendrive and in the recovery mode, I used Command Prompt and typed the follwing command:
j:\imagex /apply f:\DELL\Image\PART0001\EFI.wim 1 c:\
where j:\ is my pendrive ; f:\ was the partition with .wim image in it ; c:\ was the OS path to be recovered.
It completed in just 4 seconds! But other websites stated that it would take around 15-20 minutes to complete applying the image. I understood that something is fishy, and I was right! The PC didn't boot again. Also the apllied image showed just somewhat 250mb of data, but my hard disk (named PBR Image) was of around 9gb in size. The swm files in it (2 in nos.) were around 4gb each. I looked another forum and that stated to format the C:\ drive. I... Read more

Hello

Im very fed up with Dell's service.

I have a Precision 5510 that came with Windows 7 and a 500GB NVMe SSD. Performance was horrible without installing anything so I called up tech support.  Tech support told the usual deal: That I had to reinstall the OS. The USB key that came with the laptop had Windows 10.

Yesterday I start downloading the image from Dell's support site at 0800. At 1500 it finished and when using Dell's OS Recovery tool it says it is corrupted. I tried from another location with another internet connection and same thing.
Obviously angered and frustrated at the time I lost, I called up my sales rep and he offered to send me a USB key with Windows 7 for 67 euros.

This is a laptop for business use that has cost the company not only 2000 euros but a lost of productivity because of losing time on downloading the image. Dell should send me the key without any charge because I still dont think reinstalling a factory image on a laptop that from factory came slow is going to resolve anything.

A:Tech support tells me to restore Windows 7 image, image cannot be downloaded and now Dell wants to charge me 67 euros for a USB key

there are 2 possible solutions i can offer:
1. you can buy a windows 7 sealed CD from an IT store and do an installation.
2. Or you can download windows 7 from piratebay and also download Windows to USB Tool from google so you can use a USB to boot the windows. Then use the activation key Dell gave you to activate the windows.
But make sure your data is backed up so you dont lose anything important.
hopefully this will help.

(Please pardon my redundancy - I have posted this to the Customer Care Board and Client Service forums - just hoping to correct what I hope was an accidental change in support policy.)
This is not a technical comment but it is a comment about Dell's Technology Support. Recently the support site for laptops, and I presume other areas though I have not checked, was revised to change its structure. In the process many items were removed notably having to do with drivers for older systems. Even if a system is past warranty that does not remove the responsibility for Dell to continue to provide the most recent (even if old) drivers especially since the cost of doing so is trivial. This is especially the case when Dell is the only source for specific drivers. A specific example is a Dell Vostro 3700 laptop which uses the embedded GPU in the CPU as well as outboard nVidia GPU; the hybrid video architecture is such that NVidia provides no driver and re-directs users to Dell's site. In the case of this specific model, most of the drivers that were present a month ago are now gone.
Dell laptops have two things going for them - good products at a good price and a great support site. This has prompted me to continue focusing upon Dell - e.g. two new 5759's in 2017, and to recommend Dell to colleagues and friends. I have had recent occasion to review some very old systems on HP's support site - all relevant drivers continue to be available. I strongly recommend that Dell c... Read more

I have a dell inspiron, and i dont know what exact model number i have. I know it uses a AMD Athalon II x2 and runs Win 7. I am looking for an Image that i can use to boot it up and restore the computer. I have recently replaced the HDD with a Seagate 7800 and it now say no boot device availibe. I was able to boot with a boot disk but it still says not boot device. I attempted to restore it with another image from a compaq (crossed fingers, but knew it prolly wouldn't match up) however it was able to pass the boot device screen. So i'm thinking once i have the correct image i can restore my comp. Thanks in advance!

hello,

I received my Dell XPS 13 9360, I7 processor with 16GB of ram, and i did what i usually do with a new laptop = in order to get rid of all the bloatware, i remove everything  (including the recovery partition), and reinstall the OS with the drivers from the vendor, if needed.

The thing is the CPU shows as speed ranging from 2.7ghz to 2.9ghz (it should be 3.5ghz) and i only have a single power plan (balanced), with very little options to set. I tried installing all the utilities and drivers found in the windows 10 x64 bit section, and to download the recovery image (which it turns out to be a clean windows installation iso, not even wifi drivers included)

Any ideas where to get the required remaining applications/drivers? (in computer management i don't have any devices missing drivers)

Thank you,
Cosmin Cucu

I had Dell Factory Image Recovery files created on a USB drive, I needed that USB Stick urgently so I copied all the recovery files to my laptop HDD, then I formatted the USB to its default settings "from NTFS to FAT32", now I need those recovery files to get back to the USB, so I can boot from it and have my laptop preloaded to its factory status but I don't know how.

Would you please advise! Thanks.

*The Recovery Partition is corrupted so I can't creat Windows 7 Image instead of Dell Recovery Disc.
*I tried creating Windows 7 Bootable USB and shifted the recovery files into it and the result was Boot MGR is Missing, I think I need to get the USB bootable / execute the same commands Dell does, which I don't know.
*I tried the .exe files included in my Recovery Files, they doesn't work.

I use a Inspiron 7359 2-in-1.
Tried to download the Dell windows recovery image from dell web site.
The iso file is said to be arround 4.9gb in size.
But, in two attempts, the download stopped at 400mb and 750mb.
As I understand, my internet connection is reasonably OK.
The dell site says the download is complete.
But, when I checked the file size on disk, is 400mb in first instance and 750mb in the second instance.
I like to keep the Dell Windows recovery image, as rercently I experienced an issue following an auto OS update. (The battery was not charging). Anyway, that issue is likely to be due to not keeping the drivers up to date, prior to OS update.
I like to keep a recovery image with me, to be used, just in case, if my laptop gives me trouble again.
I'd be much thankful, if somebody could help me, in solving this issue.

Anuradha

Trying to use the Dell site below which states:
Dell Windows Recovery Image

Create Windows installation media for your Dell device.

Need to install or reinstall Windows on your Dell system?Download a Dell ISO recovery image file and use the Dell OS Recovery Tool to create a bootable USB drive.
What you will need
The Service Tag or product ID of the device you need a recovery image for.
A hard drive or removable media with access rights and at least 8GB of available data storage space for the download.
A blank USB drive with at least 8GB of space to create the installation media.
Preview the instructions before you begin.

However when I enter my service tag I get this error:

Recovery image currently unavailable.
The recovery image download could not be generated due to missing information. Please contact technical support for assistance.

I clicked on the link for tech support and hit the chat option and get nowhere with the support folks because they tell me it's only for basic warranty support.  Very misleading, but that's another story.
Does anyone have any idea what information could be "missing" that is preventing me from obtaining the recovery image?
I even see a post related to this on the OS forum homepage but it doesn't discuss any troubleshooting.

Link I'm hitting:

www.dell.com/.../OSISO

Thanks in advance for any ideas/assistance!

Windows 7 will not boot. My recovery USB stick will not give me the option to restore to factory settings. Diagnostics does not find any problem. So I need the Dell Windows Recovery Image to do this. But this is not available for my particular computer. Why the heck not? Have I been a naughty boy?
Now what? I have got the computer running using bootlegged stuff to make a bootable USB drive. But I'd rather be legit and actually have the computer working properly.
I was able to copy the factory.wim from the D Recovery partition to an external drive. But I have failed to find out whether I can, or how, to use it to reset my system.

A:Need Dell Windows Recovery Image for Vostro 3700

I think you have to boot specifically to the Recovery partition in order to restore the factory image.  Sometimes that's an option under the F12 one-time boot menu, and with other systems it's triggered via a dedicated key combination (I think Shift+F11 was used once?)  You can't directly recover from that image using a generic Windows 7 installer. If you're comfortable using the DISM command-line tool, however, you could PROBABLY boot into generic Windows Setup, press CTRL+F10 to call up Command Prompt, then format your current C drive, and finally use DISM to apply the image contained in the Factory.wim file to your C drive, but having never looked at the Factory.wim file I'm not sure if this would work.

The Dell Windows 10 Recovery .iso is just a larger multi-lingual Windows 10 .iso often of an older build. There are no additional drivers over the regular Windows 10 .iso. You are best to use the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from Microsoft which downloads the setup files, checks them and then creates the .iso overcoming the issues with direct download links and unstable connections. Microsoft's Windows 10 Installation Media may be of a later build. See here for more details:

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with Vista Home Premium factory installed and now I need to install Windows 7. Before doing that I want to make sure I can restore my computer exactly to the way it came if anything goes wrong in the process of installing Win 7 or I needed back my original laptop with Vista.

Figured out the best way to create a complete image of my Hard drive.

Capacity is 320GB
4 partitions - System Partition (C), Recovery Partition, some other 2 small partitions.
I have to modify these partitions and sizes when installing Win7. I want to completely image this HDD so I can get these back exactly the way they are now.

What is the best software I can use and what are the best methods? Please give me your opinions and instructions. Thanks.

A:Creating full Image of Hard disk System & recovery partitions (Dell)

(1) Download Macrium Reflect (Free)
(2) Create an image with all 4 partitions selected
(3) Make the linux recovery boot CD
(4) Make sure the linux boot CD works and can locate the image you just made and shows the 4 partitions for selection. Exit.

If the linux boot CD fails to work as will happen on some system configurations you can try in place of the linux CD:
(1) Hirens Boot CD Macrium Reflect is part of the mini XP environment
OR
(2) Macrium pe recovery disk. To make this you will need to download the Macrium Reflect V5 trial and be prepared to do a large MS download of WAIK (~1GB). Macrium guides you through the quite straightforward process.

Didn't know how to title this issue...basically, here's the deal: I have a school web site, on [email protected], which has a maximum of 10mb on the site. This is a constant battle trying to keep it under the 10 mgs, with all the photos and whatnot I like to put up there. I was thinking that I still have another three or four sites on my account; why don't I set up one site which is just the images, and link it to the other site. Wouldn't it be transparent? I mean, if I set up a hyperlink on the main site, wouldn't visitors just cruise back and forth at will without any hassle? And that way, I'd have much more space for images.

Please advise...it seems too easy...am I missing something?

Thanks!

p.s. I use front page 2002 from office xp suite (professional )

A:thinking of setting up web site just for images to support another site

I don't think you're missing anything. This is common practice. Most of the images on this page came from another site. Ads almost always do. There's nothing that says that the image links in your html can't load images from elsewhere. The ability to bring many disparate objects from various sources together on one web page is the reason html was designed the way it was.

Sounds like you have a good solution to your problem.

According to page 102 of the Alienware 14 manual (EN-US), there should be an option for "USB Wake Support" in the BIOS so that the laptop can be woken from sleep by a USB device.  This is important when the laptop is connected to an external monitor and needs to be turned on.
It's ridiculous to have to quickly open the lid, press power and then close the lid again.  If you don't do it fast enough, the external monitor is sometimes not enabled and you have to open the lid again to enable the external monitor from Display Properties.
The option is available in BIOS A00 (although I couldn't get it to work), but not A03, A04 or A06.  Why was this option removed?  I need this feature enabled and working otherwise I'm not sure if this laptop is going to meet my needs.
Could someone from Dell please confirm whether or not this will be possible?

Thanks,
TrueG

A:Alienware 14 (2013) - USB Wake Support Missing from BIOS

Did this issue ever get resolved for you? I am having the same issue with A09 BIOS, It's ridiculous because I literally have two laptops in front of me, my Alienware 14, and my old Toshiba Satellite from about 7 years ago... I uninstalled any Logitech drivers from both laptops, plug in the USB receiver to the Toshiba, it plug and plays, then works fine, I switch into sleep mode on said Toshiba and the Logitech keyboard can bring me out of sleep mode instantly, I don't even have to fiddle around with settings. On the other hand, I plug it into my Alienware 14, it quickly says it's installing drive files, keyboard works, I put the Alienware into sleep mode, but when I use the touchpad, press any buttons on the keyboard, turn off and on the keyboard, press buttons on the laptop itself, nothing wakes it from its sleep (other than pressing the power button on the laptop). I read your posts on the other websites too (a forum I believe it was), and I think I am having the exact same issue. I am running my Alienware in UEFI boot mode, recently switched my HDD to my SSD so that it would perform faster, but I don't think that has anything to do with the BIOS not including a "USB Wake" option, does it? Is it only located in the BIOS when you're booting from Legacy possibly?
Hope you found a solution, because I have spent my entire day off trying to figure out a way to turn my laptop on from afar, but nothing has worked... :(
Thanks a lot.

Justin

i currently have a dell Inspiron 5558 laptop for over an year now but the screen stop working over 6 months ago, i looked up the warranty information at the time of screen stopped working and was re-assured that it showed February 18, 2017 therefore i did not consider that it is very urgent to call tech support since i have other laptops. today when i call the support service, i was informed that product was not registered and i have to pay $233 to replace the LCD screen, they still argued that dell warranty website showed the correct information but when i looked it up, the website still displays the same.  did anyone else encounter this issue??
below is the warranty service which is still display at this time

A:Dell Warranty is reflecting incorrect data as per technical support and support manager

Was the system purchased direct from Dell, or at retail - or on EBay, Amazon, etc?

We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem.
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP
Regards

Started about a month ago - pops up over and over and over and over - about every five minutes or less.  I've got a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Professional.  Another forum said to just uninstall Dell Support Center (Support Center Software) - but when I try to uninstall it - THE SAME STUPID WINDOW POPS UP ASKING ME TO INSERT THE SOFTWARE.  I tried doing a Browse and it's looking for DSC20.msi.  I haven't managed to find it yet.  I have at least found \Program Files(x86)\Dell Support Center but there's so many sub-directories...
I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

As the subject-line states, after installing Win10 Creators, my Support Assistant and AlienFX no longer function; stuck with the last lighting profile I set.

I tried uninstall/reinstall of both programs, same result...  Loss of function.  When I go to the Dell support webpage for Alienware 15 R2 for downloads and look manually, there are NO updates/fixes that incorporate Win10 Creators for programs that have conflicts.

When is Dell going to address this???

Thanks.

Hi guys,

Im having a little trouble with recovering my alienware laptop. Here are the details:

I bought it with windows 7 on it and when the free upgrade came out for windows i thought i would give it a try knowing that this model wasnt tested for it. While i like that OS, everytime i get a windows 10 update it upsets either my USB connectivity or my sound drivers. Only way i can get around it is keep reinstalling windows 8.1 drivers.

This has gotten extremely annoying. So i then backed everything up and proceeded to do a factory recovery. However it seems like that windows 10 has taken over and even though i went through all the correct motions, the recovery screen was windows 10 and the laptop was recovered to a bog standard windows 10 install with ALL device drivers installed and working correctly minus the preloaded alienware software like alien command and respawn.

Now from what i have gathered, windows 10 removes all your old windows files from the computer after a month (which it has been), however i did do a complete fresh install (though i left the recovery partition intact incase i didnt like it).

I am by no mean a novice with computers but i have spent the last couple of years in a field that has nothing to do with computers so my knowledge isnt as recent. Im not too sure if this is best in this sub forum or the windows 10, so apologies up front.

Look forward to some fresh knowledge and learning :)

thanks guys,

Steel

I would like to perform a system restore back to the image the laptop shipped with. I do not have a SYSTEM RESTORE option at all. I have followed the following and the option finally was available but immediately after clicking on it the laptop just performs a generic reboot to windows 10 and the option is no longer available.

http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN298748/the-dell-factory-image-restore-option-may-not-appear-in-windows-recovery-environment-on-some-dell-systems?lang=EN
Currently I am having issues during booting where the boot device is inaccessible at times. It usually boots fine on the second time but on occasion I have had to recover the boot record. Any ideas on how I can perform a system restore?

Hi. I recently got a Alienware M15X, due to instability issiues and some anger, i chose to reinstall my windows, unfortunately i chose to formate and use the Windows cd that followed. I were unawere off the alienrespawn feature at the time I discovered with some help tech support that my bios was in need off an update. Now after i have gotten the laptop stable, i'd like the alienware install back. However i can't choose it from the F10/F8 key under the booting, since i used the windows cd
The link between alienrespawn and windows is gone, but i still have the recovery partition, were the alien respawn is.

The guys at the tech support told it was posibel with some changes to the booting, however he did not wanna help me, as it was outside normal tech support.

So how do i boot from the recovery partition so i can run the alienrespawn and reset my laptop to factory instalation?

I hope someone here can help me.
